At 16 minutes when you are cooking the fish, you mention leaving the scales on. This is the way we always cook our fish when ice fishing. When the scales burn, the fish is done. The scales actually hold in the moisture! So, it wasn't a mistake, you stumbled on a great way to roast fish over an open fire!
This is my first view of one of your videos. What you have done so well is you are fully present and open to whatever comes to your viewfinder (like the butterfly that landed on your arm). It gives your videos a personal touch showing us who you are........which is great!

    Hi Lilly
I just wanted to send you a note and tell you not to worry about people talking crap to you. You can tell you love the out doors and love what you are doing. These people are just jealous because they can't survive if put in a situation where they had to. I know as a female watching shows me i could do it if i had to. Keep your head up and know you have many more fans who believe in you. Great videos. Are you every planning to do a video where you spend a few days out? Keep up the videos. Loyal fan.

Hi Lilly, I like your natural eco-friendly mini refrigerator. A method that I use to keep things refrigerated that works well for individual beverage bottles in the forest entails the use of two white crew socks, one inside of the other, place the bottle inside of the socks, pour water over the socks (rain water if available), and then hang the socks up in a tree, suspended on a length of cord and let the cooling effect that nature provides through the evaporation principle that will soon provide you with a cool drink. The ambient humidity of the surrounding air may require that water need be applied again. This same principle can be used to cool a canteen of water. Use your imagination, have fun, enjoy the adventures in your life. Dave.

My 8 year old daughter and I have watched 2 of your episodes and we're hooked! So far it's been viewed just before bed so she can dream and perfect her own survival skills. Loved that the deer and fox weren't too cautious. They say animals can sense if a human is out to harm them so maybe thats why they got so close. Not sure where the grubs fit into my theory though 😄

That camera is pretty cool the 4G feature is amazing. I like how you actually were able to catch one of the culprits on film but I doubt you'll be able to prosecute... I'll definitely consider getting one of these for hunting season they look like they would be great for General Security as well. It's amazing what goes unseen under the cover of Darkness.

To avoid your sleeping pad from getting dusty, turn it over when you leave. This will also protect it from UV damage. ... Yes, the bottom will get dusty, but it will mostly fall off when you turn it back to the correct side. ❤🌅🌵

When you roll up the tarps turn them inwards. Otherwise they hold water and that means mosquitoes. I'm not trying to be mean. It's just a shelter tip anyone can use. Do it the hard way and it pays off.

That was neat that you was able to get photos of the fox which took your scraps. They look great and that fox must have enjoyed the scraps as much as possible. That was nice that you still have your camp intact and everything was left as you left it except for the dust which accumulated since you was last there.

Here in the states, Arkansas to be exact we country boys use those trail cameras to harvest deer meat which is the healthiest leanest meat you can eat. I know this is an older video but I had an idea for the sleeping pads you leave here-could you affix them to the rafters over the bed? That would keep them cleaner and keep the mice and other critters from crawling over them. Maybe some cordage or twine tied vertically in 2 or 3 places so you could slide them behind. Just found your channel-very impressive, thanks for sharing.

Nice intro ! 🎵👍 Weather is also crazy here in Belgium.
Really cool auto camera ! And also very neat garden ! (In fact, whatever you do, you do it good.)
The buck doesn't give a f... (ok, I'll stop the rhyme in time !😁)
By the way, do you know the difference between Beer nuts and Deer nuts ?
Beer nuts are 1$50 and Deer nuts are under a buck... (ok ! I know the way out ! => EXIT) 🙄

As from 2 pm tomorrow (Monday) I am homeless for the first time in my life. At the age of 53 I don't think I'll survive. All I have is my backpack I use for camping. I've decided the city centre is not for me. I don't do drugs. As a result, I'm heading down the east coast starting at Dartmouth. Going past stoke Flemming, I'll try and make to lands end in Cornwall. I'm walking all the way. Being 7k in debt, I have no choice. Will miss your videos Lilly :-) Paul.

      Epilogue !
7k in debt is nothing for Americans.....I’m the only adult in my family not in debt, all the other adults owe at least 100k.
Go camp for a little while, make a plan.....have some fun. RELAX!
      Good luck!

  • @1voluntaryist

Lilly: This is the 2nd video of yours but I have a few thoughts.
Using clay/stone you could build a rocket stove at camp that would use 10-20% of the fuel, heat up & cook faster. It would put out no smoke, but aesthetically you might miss the open fire. However, in wind or rain it works fine, with no danger of sparks blowing.
If you leave the plastic flap down when you go it will stop the dust buildup.
The glass bottle/stopper could have remained at camp and be used later, perhaps by someone else who needed your camp and had no way to carry water. (Your junk can be another's treasure.)

"It was then that the fox appeared. 'Good morning', said the fox. 'Good morning', the little prince responded politely although when he turned around he saw nothing. 'I'm right here' the voice said, 'under the apple tree.' 'Who are you?' asked the little prince, and added, 'You're very pretty to look at.' 'I'm a fox', the fox said." ("The little prince", Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) - Well, it didn't happen under an apple tree, where your fox ate the fish, and he didn't talk either, but this was soooo cool. Mainly your joy on the other day, after discovering. REALLY LOVE your videos!

I'm sure the foxes visit your shelter to hunt rodents when you're away. Sounds like one found it occupied last night.
