    I like the stories when Scarecrow is immune to his fear toxin because then he can’t be stopped by his own weapon. I feel that him being defeated by his own toxin has been overdone.

      Also at this point it would make sense that he’d be immune to his own fear toxin at this point. Just like in Blackest Night.

      @@pendragonxt3674I have to strongly disagree with that being an "awesome moment." It was a cheap cop-out in a cutscene. Seriously, Scarecrow's ostensibly the main antagonist and the player doesn't even get a boss fight against him. I really wish that we'd have gotten a return to the Scarecrow hallucination boss fights from Asylum in the main game (outside of the challenge maps, etc.) That would have been an awesome moment

    Scarecrow takes a back seat to no other Rogues. My one wish about Scarecrow is that I wish Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams had done a Scarecrow tale back in the early seventies.There are brilliant Joker and Two Face stories from this time and I think that The Scarecrow would have been a natural fit into their brilliant and beautiful works.!

      He is persistent. The problem is that most of his story revolved around exposing someone to their fear, they overcome it and defeat him in the end. I wish more writers would be more creative with him and explore him more. At least he is getting some (well deserved) recognition in video games. Hopefully this will translate to the big screen. The fans want a proper Scarecrow film, with a proper costume. And give the man hi@ bloody hat!

    I've actually read three of these stories, and...you're right about them being forgotten, because I seriously forgot how GOOD they are. I've read the 200th Anniversary Story, "Evil Eye," and the story from Black & White, and I find all three to be fun. I think that the 200th Anniversary and Black & White stories are my personal favorites; Evil Eye is okay, but not exactly among my absolute favorites. As for the other two...I can't guarantee I'll read the 3D comic, only because of the fact it IS a 3D comic, and I don't like straining my eyes, plus it would probably work best on paper rather than online or something like that. However, I'm almost definitely going to look up Sweet Dreams. :)

    "Batman's Evil Eye" was one of the first two Detective Comics I ever bought, and one problem I've always had with the Scarecrow is that several of his stories struck me as rehashes of that plot (Scarecrow amplifies Batman's fear).

  • @randallflagg3700
    @randallflagg3700 4 роки тому +10

    In the last story, I started to giggled when Scarecrow's sole henchman went "Gee Boss, that a good plan! You scret is safe with me!", and decided to read "Sweet Dreams" first, to find out what horrible fate awaited the poor guy.
    And a bit later in your video, the next peage is revealed: "Gee, say Boss, what's with the fifth coffin an' all?"; perfect...
    Thank you for your service Mistah Rogues, the time sacrificed going through everything Crane-related story out there to serve us a new quality video is appreciated. You're doing great work there.

    I knew you'd have difficulty, Rogues. The way Johnny is usually used is so criminally overdone and stupid. I myself was a fan of the "I want to be a teacher" angle from the early DCAU comics, if only for the fact it painted him as sympathetic and conflicted for once. Good job on digging these out tho, some real gems here.

    I think there was a Gotham Adventures story (do we count comics based on the animated series?) where Crane drove the city to chaos by televising that he poisoned the air supply. People were panicking in hospitals and all that despite not every vital sign being fine. It was revealed that Scarecrow lied on his broadcast and only did so because he wanted to study the citizens.

    Something that I immediately thought of while hearing your description of the 3D comic, is Crane deciding, for scientific research, to have the teens sprayed with both Bliss’s happy gas and Scarecrow’s spooky gas, and him studying the effects of 2 opposing hallucinations. Scarecrow is conflicting for me. He has an awesome design, gimmick, tragic backstory and scientific motive. And yet, I never really think of how good he is until I sit down and ponder him. Otherwise, I forget about him utterly.
    I blame it on all his media appearances. Arkham Asylum was a terrifying and awesome villain; but a henchman. Same with Batman Begins. And Arkham Knight makes him so much about breaking Batman that all tragedy and compelling aspects are done away with.
    Oddly enough, my favorite videogame take was Injustice 2. I loved the lab coat and mask, and his "fighter" being a hallucinatory monster. He was also very good at getting in your head without toxin. Everyone forgets he was a a psychologist/psychiatrist before becoming Scarecrow.

    • @mr.rogues4145
      @mr.rogues4145  4 роки тому +3

      @@mr.rogues4145 He wasn't specifically working for Joker, but the way the game used him it kinda felt like he was one of Joker's men, rather than a side villain with his own story. He just seemed oddly dependent on Joker not being around, unlike Croc and Ivy who actively stood up to him. The hallucination with him as the doctor probably contributed to this

    5:14 It's also like the Animated Series episode Fear of Victory where Scarecrow put a version of his toxin on telegrams that he gave to sports stars so they'd get scared and not be able to play then he'd bet on the opposing team so he'd get more money to do more sick fear experiments.

    It's kind of a catch 22, isn't it? If we explore a character, we become familiar with them, and familiarity is the end of fear. Or is it? Do you feel Scarecrow could be fleshed out while still keeping him eerie and unsettling?
    On a side note, Scarecrow is one of the few characters out there who is not only interesting himself, but makes other characters more interesting as well. After all, what better way to dissect a character than to analize what they're afraid of?

    Wait, but how did the fear toxin work on Joker if it was established before that he is immune to it?

    • @shadowx9398
      @shadowx9398 4 роки тому

      Alexander Smith It’s going to sound very convoluted when I say this. If you remember Arkham Knight. Batman was effected by the Joker’s blood. Although Joker was dead in Arkham Knight, indications were there that he can be effected by the fear gas.
      I can’t say for sure if it’s because his blood was infuse with Batman. Plus Batman has been effected by the fear toxin on multiple occasions. And has inoculated himself from the effects of the fear toxin.
      From my reasons, I wonder if there has been any occasions that Joker has been put under the influence of any toxin so far to date.
      Unless I’m wrong, I’m thinking the only person in the Batman comics who can withstand any toxins is Poison Ivy. She has the ability to withstand any and all toxins as she is the walking toxin herself.

      Shadow X
      I was talking about the comics. In the comics he is immune to (basically) every toxic chemical known to man, and Scarecrow tried using his fear gas on Joker, but it didn’t work. Obviously, this wasn’t the case in the Arkham series cause he’s fucking dead from Bane herpes or something

      Scarecrow is one of (if not THE) greatest chemists in the world, there's no one he can't drug if he puts his mind to it. All it takes is time, and a little trial and error.
