It’s been so long since Joker was actually written as an interesting character instead of a generic murder clown that I don’t even care if the best version of him in years is in a meaningless event tie-in book. A win is a win.

@@jonathansoko1085Something that is interesting about it is that we get to see Rose Wilson interacting with a version of her who lived a good life (i.e. raised by foster parents instead of her mom, not having father issues with her father Deathstroke, etc.). I assume that a part of Rose wants to have a normal life where she can get away from it all, but she can’t because tragedy is going to come to her (like how tragedy is going to come to her father).

Reminds me of Rebirth Deathstroke where it begins with Joey and Rose living their own lives before being sucked into Addie and Slade's family drama. Before then realizing that they never really escaped it. Slade was always watching Rose and Joey's fiance was a spy planted by Addie. That would create dear that everything "normal" in your life is fake. There for somebody else's plans. But i also feel like, if Joker saw a version of his life that he didn't want, then Rose could genuinely not want normal. She might not want to be raised by anybody else, not want her life to be that different. Maybe that's why when Slade walked out of family dinner in Deathstroke #50 she was hurt more than Joey who was ready to give up. She doesn't want a different family, she wants this family just together.
This event would have been a better fit for October for sure, but personally I don't mind it being a summer thing because I'm here for the spooky Halloween vibes any time of year lol
I would have thought they did this as their summer event then put out the trades for October. However, I didn't see them solicited anywhere. I think this was designed to let the artists catch up on the other books.
I suppose that Poison Ivy's nightmare is meant to be trying to signify the internal debate that she has at the start of her comic. Like she wants to be with Harley and loves her but that is also kinda interfeering with her whole exterminating humanity deal (before she starts with the eat the rich thing). The suburban lifestyle style is usually just used to represent boring normalcy so I guess it's representing her leaving her goals behind or something like that

For Knight Terrors Poison Ivy, I assume that Poison Ivy’s nightmare is her and Harley Quinn living in a suburban household (like WandaVision) with Batman as the nosy neighbor wearing dad clothes (which suits him because he’s Bat-Dad).
They could have done a lot more with posion ivy. Like imagine an h.r giger world where she sees everything that is plant based as flesh. And shes trapped in there. Idk seems like a good enough run
You haven't mentioned if you have watched the animated "Harley Quinn" but this loop of Bruce's parents getting killed is also present when Harley goes in his subconscious to help him. They also reference a lot of batman adaptations by recreating scenes in his mind. It's pretty cool 😊 also the Joker was cured for a little while, became a family man and then mayor of Gotham but in reality. Seems like they took inspiration from the series or the opposite.
DC and Marvel seem to forget that characters referencing others, characters casually appearing in other titles is what unleashed the potential of their universes. Now they sub the casual universe crosses with huge events and think it's all good, but it's not the same, huge events have no room for character building or casual (yes I keep saying casual) down time together
I wish Knight Terrors was kind of a Justice League Dark vibe story with characters that are connected to FEAR and NIGHTMARES ... like Scarecrow, Sinestro ( Yellow Lanterns), Spellbinder and Dr. Hugo Strange I would be curious to see them pop up and become like Minions or co-conspiractors of this INSOMNIA
I just watched the Doctor Destiny episode of Justice League which definitely has the same vibes as this, funny to see an entire crossover event like this based around it. Very fun kind of pulp story, dunno how it shakes out in execution but it's a nice premise at least

I don't know that someone else's nightmare would really have much impact since nightmares are usually reflecting someone's personal fears/anxieties. Like being in Batman's nightmare of seeing his parents be killed over and over is basically just watching the opening of any Batman movie on a loop.
I just realized that The joker Knight Terrors is a reference of American Psycho. This issue and that movie are very much alike down to the main character killing people and no one notices... and then the joker even looks like Jared Leto from that movie which is another reference since he played the joker.
Why is a dream/nightmare scenario being caused by a villain called Insomnia? It would have been interesting to have seen them dealing with sleep deprivation "nightmares" in the world world. Very nice overview by the way.
As someone who recently went through a 70+ hour non-stop all-nighter to get a project done.... sleep deprivation messes you up lol. I think this would've been a very interesting angle to go, blending exhaustion, hallucination, and fear WITH reality.

For Knight Terrors: First Blood, it is interesting that Insomnia is spreading his nightmares to the entire DCU, although it should’ve been released in October because of horror, nightmares, and terror. It is also interesting that Joshua Williamson is maintaining continuity for the Superman and Batman books. Also, I assume that Insomnia is (and I could be wrong) William MacIntyre (aka Triumph). After all, he wants revenge for the entire DCU because he’s been forgotten for several decades.

I'm reminded from a scene from The Patient. Roughly, it's a story about how a Jew in a concentration camp saw another having a nightmare, but when he woke him up, he told that they would rather have been left asleep, because being awake was so much more horrible. It really stuck in my head. Anyway, I'm sure this DC event is great! Definitely not a metaphor that no matter how terrible it might get, the ongoing runs were even worse! 😋 I kid, this actually sounds pretty neat. Much better than "everyone has to fight for some reason!"

I really love the knight terrors concept and my favorites were definitely the Batman, Joker, and Ivy ones. I think those ones represented their characters the best. I’m kinda bummed that it’s halting the mainline books like you mentioned I think it’s kind of annoying and can be pretty confusing for new readers that aren’t caught up or trying to catch up.
A villain who's all about nightmares and dreamscapes, and they named it Insomnia. Does DC even understand how words work any more? Words exist to convey meaning - or at least they're supposed to.
I have been LOVING knight terrors. Your videos got me into buying comics around the end of Lazarus Planet, and this was the first event I am getting to read from the start. Not getting every side story but I'm reading a good amount of them! The only thing that does bother me is the cutting off of certain stories that were very early in. I was longing the Dawn of DC Green Lantern only for it to get interrupted on issue two ... but thats the only complaint I have! Knight Terrors: Robin is my favorite so far (With an honorable mention for Knight Terrors Zatanna because it was nice seeing such an unorthodox team-up)
I'm all for Knight Terrors. No problem that it's not in October or interrupting titles. I've read First Blood, Batman & Ravager & really enjoyed them all! I'm going to hold off and trade wait though. I never do that but this is right up my alley!

i get the feeling there is still this alternate costume designing urge from death metal still floating around and this is "everyone does their own take on a theme but with a search" is a concept dc pulls out ever so often, legends of the dead earth and the first one, armageddon 2001 come to mind.
So is Ivy's nightmare that she specifically think her and Harley don't want the same things and that will destroy their relationship? Or that Ivy is afraid of making compromises for Harley and losing herself in the process?
I think the best way to go is to collect what you're already reading. The Poison Ivy one plays with ideas already brought up in the main ivy book (Ivy settling down for Harley, Janet following Ivy in a similar way), many of the books that seem to be stand alone actually correspond to an ongoing book (the Zatanna one is written by the Doom patrol writer and features robotman, the ravenger one written by the Stormwatch writer, etc). I was more interested in the Ivy book because I'm already reading the ivy book, but was bored by ravenger. I wonder if I'd be more interested if I was reading the Stormwatch stories in BBatB. There's also a potential connection between the "thing in the back of your mind" ideas being played with in Batman and Tec, but that could be a reach Also I'm hype for the WW book because it's a JLD reunion
I liked seen all the different nightmares and dreams and how everyone reacts to them. I believe even if the main plot and the story overall turns out to be not that great the different nightmares and stuff will still be worth it, it’s a nice idea.

For Knight Terrors Black Adam, it is interesting that Black Adam’s nightmare is the death of his wife and brother-in-law a (as shown in 52, even though Isis was resurrected in Black Adam: the Dark Ages and a JSA and Titans storyline before she was retconned by the New 52 and Osiris was resurrected in Blackest Night and last appeared teaming up with Dr. Sivana to destroy the Marvel Family in exchange for resurrecting Black Adam before he as retconned by the New 52).
So, another event where Deadman is the narrator? I wonder if they are going to make him the new Uatu for DC. Would be nice for him to actually have a thing.
the crazed and twisted smiles from poison ivy's Nightmare kinda remind me of Soundgarden's black hole sun music video that's all I can think of when I see it.
The Batman Nightmare sequence also resembles the sequence in the Harley Quinn Animated series where they are in an MC Esher style world that's just infinate recursion of Crime Alley. As Doctor Psycho says "oooooooooh, is it possible this guy is traumatised by seeing his parents killed? I DON'T THINK WE FUCKING GOT THAT!"
I read First Blood, BM, #1 and then Zatanna. This was fun. I’m in for the KT trip. I like the dark gothic stuff so this is great. The Deadman/BM involuntary team-up is very cool. I’m happy that Deadman is getting some attention as he is an interesting character. The Zatanna book was a fun quick read…was wondering how she got teamed up with RM and it makes sense. I think I’ll stick just with the main event books and BM and Zatanna for this one. The Zatanna 1:50 cover for #2 is awesome so i may have to spring for that.

I read first blood and batman Knight Terrors and found them rather enjoyable. Enough so that I'm going to continue to pick it up for characters I'm interested in. Figured Batman would tie into the main story the most so thats why I picked his up, but based off this I'll probably go back and get Joker's! I like the concept and generally I've liked William's recent events/runs (besides Laz planet). This is a good way to show some really fun art with these characters and more deeply explore their psyche in a way that adds to current runs.
I think knight terrors was used to give the artists on the dawn of DC books time to catch up so they can maintain the quality. It is disguised as a summer event to boost sales. It can also generate some new characters. It also "hopefully" generates some buzz for these "other" artists. Then they can use them as alternates or replacements on the regular books. Those notes are to generate interests in the ongoings, hence the references. It's actually smart marketing. I wonder how this works with Sandman continuity?
Main title is on my pull list but didn't put in an order for any of the crossover books. Taking advantage of the break to hopefully finally catch up on my unread monthlies pile.
I like the fact that Green Lantern is going right into Knight Terrors instead of having an abrupt break and creative team change. All in all, I'm more excited about this event than Gotham War immediately following.
So far I'm really enjoying Knight Terrors, I'm a big horror fan so this is right up my street! I would've preferred for it to not have interrupted the current ongoing series'

There is an episode of Batman: The Animated Series called "House & Garden" where Ivy lives the normal suburban life and nosy Batman ruins it for her.

A villain who's all about nightmares and dreamscapes, and they named it Insomnia. Does DC even understand how words work any more? Words exist to convey meaning - or at least they're supposed to.

I have been LOVING knight terrors. Your videos got me into buying comics around the end of Lazarus Planet, and this was the first event I am getting to read from the start. Not getting every side story but I'm reading a good amount of them! The only thing that does bother me is the cutting off of certain stories that were very early in. I was longing the Dawn of DC Green Lantern only for it to get interrupted on issue two ... but thats the only complaint I have!
Knight Terrors: Robin is my favorite so far (With an honorable mention for Knight Terrors Zatanna because it was nice seeing such an unorthodox team-up)
I'm all for Knight Terrors. No problem that it's not in October or interrupting titles.
I've read First Blood, Batman & Ravager & really enjoyed them all! I'm going to hold off and trade wait though. I never do that but this is right up my alley!

Some of the tie ins I've read don't feel like nightmares, but almost like regular stories or at least elseworlds.
i get the feeling there is still this alternate costume designing urge from death metal still floating around and this is "everyone does their own take on a theme but with a search" is a concept dc pulls out ever so often, legends of the dead earth and the first one, armageddon 2001 come to mind.
So is Ivy's nightmare that she specifically think her and Harley don't want the same things and that will destroy their relationship? Or that Ivy is afraid of making compromises for Harley and losing herself in the process?

I think the best way to go is to collect what you're already reading. The Poison Ivy one plays with ideas already brought up in the main ivy book (Ivy settling down for Harley, Janet following Ivy in a similar way), many of the books that seem to be stand alone actually correspond to an ongoing book (the Zatanna one is written by the Doom patrol writer and features robotman, the ravenger one written by the Stormwatch writer, etc). I was more interested in the Ivy book because I'm already reading the ivy book, but was bored by ravenger. I wonder if I'd be more interested if I was reading the Stormwatch stories in BBatB.
There's also a potential connection between the "thing in the back of your mind" ideas being played with in Batman and Tec, but that could be a reach
Also I'm hype for the WW book because it's a JLD reunion

I liked seen all the different nightmares and dreams and how everyone reacts to them. I believe even if the main plot and the story overall turns out to be not that great the different nightmares and stuff will still be worth it, it’s a nice idea.
The Batman Knight Terror really made me think of Silent Hill. Just some of the art and how the story went, Silent Hill vibes.

Deadman is one of favorite side characters.
For Knight Terrors Black Adam, it is interesting that Black Adam’s nightmare is the death of his wife and brother-in-law a (as shown in 52, even though Isis was resurrected in Black Adam: the Dark Ages and a JSA and Titans storyline before she was retconned by the New 52 and Osiris was resurrected in Blackest Night and last appeared teaming up with Dr. Sivana to destroy the Marvel Family in exchange for resurrecting Black Adam before he as retconned by the New 52).

the crazed and twisted smiles from poison ivy's Nightmare kinda remind me of Soundgarden's black hole sun music video that's all I can think of when I see it.

About Dream & Death being related: that's the case not just in DC. In ancient greek myths Hypnos (sleep) and Thanatos (death) were brothers, too.
The Batman Nightmare sequence also resembles the sequence in the Harley Quinn Animated series where they are in an MC Esher style world that's just infinate recursion of Crime Alley. As Doctor Psycho says "oooooooooh, is it possible this guy is traumatised by seeing his parents killed? I DON'T THINK WE FUCKING GOT THAT!"
I read First Blood, BM, #1 and then Zatanna. This was fun. I’m in for the KT trip. I like the dark gothic stuff so this is great. The Deadman/BM involuntary team-up is very cool. I’m happy that Deadman is getting some attention as he is an interesting character. The Zatanna book was a fun quick read…was wondering how she got teamed up with RM and it makes sense. I think I’ll stick just with the main event books and BM and Zatanna for this one. The Zatanna 1:50 cover for #2 is awesome so i may have to spring for that.

I understood it (nightmare stone hidden in nightmare) like how dreams are a other world and nightmares are also another realm like in sandman tv series how morphious /dream was plucking thing out of people’s dreams not minds ?3:04

I read first blood and batman Knight Terrors and found them rather enjoyable. Enough so that I'm going to continue to pick it up for characters I'm interested in. Figured Batman would tie into the main story the most so thats why I picked his up, but based off this I'll probably go back and get Joker's!
I like the concept and generally I've liked William's recent events/runs (besides Laz planet). This is a good way to show some really fun art with these characters and more deeply explore their psyche in a way that adds to current runs.
I think knight terrors was used to give the artists on the dawn of DC books time to catch up so they can maintain the quality. It is disguised as a summer event to boost sales. It can also generate some new characters. It also "hopefully" generates some buzz for these "other" artists. Then they can use them as alternates or replacements on the regular books. Those notes are to generate interests in the ongoings, hence the references. It's actually smart marketing. I wonder how this works with Sandman continuity?
Main title is on my pull list but didn't put in an order for any of the crossover books. Taking advantage of the break to hopefully finally catch up on my unread monthlies pile.

I like the fact that Green Lantern is going right into Knight Terrors instead of having an abrupt break and creative team change.
All in all, I'm more excited about this event than Gotham War immediately following.
