- Here's a short video on free camping in Utah's Valley of the Gods with my Aliner Trailer. I visited there in March and had the entire valley to myself! One of the best places for scenic photography and getting away from the crowds. No real story here, just a collection of what you can expect to see if planning a visit. Enjoy!
An amazing part of the country! I LOVE Valley of the Gods!
I've been retired for almost two years and have done nothing remarkable with all the free time I now have. Your videos are inspiring me to get off my ass and do things I've dreamed about doing for years but never had the time - thanks!
I never can thank you enough for letting me into your life. Medical issues are keeping us home, but we enjoy you videos and dream that one day it might be us.
Well done again Slim. Everytime you present one of these soft music and great narrative videos, its so soothing to my soul. thanks again on a super job of bringing the outside in, for us. especially those of us in far off lands like Australia. Thanks again.
You are doing a super job with almost no budget... we almost forget we are on UA-cam we could be somewhere on BBC or CBC.Thank you for sharing your passion.
Hey wait a minute! I saw you there!. There was a single guy camping in an A Liner with a silver Jeep Liberty and a bad shirt as I drove past in a VW GTI. Actually I did twice. The first time it was getting close to sunset, and I didn't want to make the trip around there in the dark, so I came back the next morning. I'm glad I did. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. What a small world.
I like seeing your route on the map, it gives a good idea of the distances between various locations and orients me. Thanks!
Absolutely beautiful place. Been there last year during a 4week Road trip. And I was overwhelmed. Utah is just amazing.
Safe travels
I just wanted to thank you for the most beautiful video I have seen in a very long time. You are a true artist, with videos like these and your fix it projects. I now always look forward to your next presentation.
Beautiful images and great narration Slim! Thanks for sharing!
Just visited Valley of the Gods a week ago while camping on my RV in Monument Valley. Did some of the dirt road, but not all the way as I was not familiar with the area.
I can only wonder what it would be like to camp there.
Not experienced with Boondocking, but my RV is equipped for it, in theory.
Great inspiration from you sir.
Wow!! The color, shapes and textures, it’s crazy beautiful. Thank you.
Wow...what a paradise, and less than 6 hours from where I live. Thanks to you and your delightful video, I'm going to head there for a few days of observation and thought!
Wonderful narration! And such creative photography!
Absolutely breathtaking. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this excellent travel video. Also love your tips and how-to ones. Can't wait to see where you go next. Have a safe journey . . .
Beautiful video and photos😍😍😍😍😍
Beautiful as usual.
Always carry water when hiking. Beautiful area. Wow.
Beautiful video and photography! Thank you!
Wonderful video. Beautifully scored, narrated, and shot. Absolutely lovely. What a spectacular place.
Hard to beat the scenery in Utah. I have been there twice and it is a geologist's dream come true. The only bad thing is the sandstone and clay dust when it is soaked with rain. You walk 20 feet and you have now grown 8 inches!!
Stunningly beautiful images! Thanks so much for sharing your adventures with us! John in Colorado
Beautiful ! Made my day ! Thank-you, Bonnie in New Jersey. You go ! foot loose and fancy free .....
this video is beautiful and so well narrated! You are a poet!
You're good at this. Excellent edit. Keep it up. I'll keep watching.
Beautiful vistas! Thanks!
Thanks for all the great video's Slim, Happy New Year.
I love your videos. I can’t wait to travel someday.
Great cinematography! This one is fantastic. Inspired to plan as I watch. Thanks.
I believe the 1969 Gregory Peck movie "McKenna's Gold" was shot in this valley. Beautiful scenery!
Beautiful scenery!
You get such awesome shots.
Great job. Really enjoyed it
Thank you for sharing this! It is an amazing job of photo journalism. I love your shirt, seriously
Thank you so much for the videos! My husband and I appreciate all the tips and tricks! :-)
Just stunning. We all think of the Grand Canyon which is stunning, but oh my Utah is a gem. Unbelievable to wake up and this is what you have to deal with instead of rush hour traffic.👍
Thank You! I am adding Valley of the Gods to my must see list!
Another beautiful video Slim
I love Utah! It's been my playground over the last 20 years 😊 Hope you made it to Natural Bridges 😊😊😊😊😊
Just recently have found your channel and subscribed. Been going thru you videos a little every day for a week or so because i also am a creator who has a channel mostly dedicated to travel with an emphasis on National Sites and I have lot's of videos from places that you have shared so its cool seeing someone else' perspective. Gotta say thank you for sharing as your quality of work is amazing and I have found inspiration in your clips and they are also great for doing some research on my future plans. great to see that i am not alone in my appreciation for your channel judging by your subscribers! I have already recommended your work to many of my subscribers as well. Honestly some of the very best here on UA-cam. Heading out on 2 separate trips to the 4 corners region soon with 13 clips in mind. Mt favorite place in the country. once again, thanks so much for what you do and safe travels!
Thanks Robert. All the best for your future travels! SP
Stunning area. Going there next year in my own Aliner I hope. And I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches! 😀
Just discovered your videos and as an Aliner Ranger 10 owner, really happy to find them! Subscribed. This Utah video is terrific. Really shows the area well.
I found your channe last week and have been enjoying your videos very much your pictures are fantastic, keep up the good work.
Actually Slim, this IS my backyard! Being a native Utahn, I love boondocking here. My mother is from Cardston Alberta, have an Auntie and cousins in Lethbridge. Thanks for the great vids, I really enjoy them.
You are a lucky man MrSparks54 !!!
Great footage and stills!
Hi slim , We just left the valley of the Gods 2 weeks ago. Fortunately nothing has changed. We were there for a week of boondocking. Was a great place for astrophotography too !
Your videos are awesome.
Very well done, thank you! We went thru in July and only met 2 Brits on motorcycles. Almost no one visits here.
Slim Potatohead,
Another excellent video! Great still photography as well.
I have a place in western Colorado and I've seen quite a bit of Eastern Utah.
However, from your video I realize I haven't seen near enough.
Thank you again!
Thanks for sharing.I like to visit and boondock that area this summer.
Been watching your videos for a while now. Great job regardless of the editing software you’re using. I’m doing my 2nd trek through the West again this year. Maybe we’ll cross paths. Safe travels.
We forgive your bad shirt. Great scenery. Thanks for sharing.
awesome photos of beautiful scenes
That's just another place I must get to,Something seems mystical about it.
I thought I was the only person who loves peanut butter and banana sandwiches! Good for you. Beautiful photography.
Carolyn Tolliver add bacon and you have the Elvis.
I like it with mayo.
Slim, thanks for sharing! I'm considering getting an a-frame camper next year. I picked up flying paramotors this year, and want to get out to other locations, and an a-frame camper would be awesome for it. I'm watching through your videos with much interest, and love seeing the mods and really thoughtful, clever things you've come up with.
What you eat when boondocking is pretty interesting, even if it's simple! It wouldn't be a bad idea to do a video on some of the various things you like to eat, and even some cooking.
Hi Matthew, A paramotor and an A-frame would be TOTALLY COOL!!! Thanks for checking out my videos. I was thinking of making a food video eventually, I take little clips as I travel. Thanks for the tip!
Beautiful!
Great Visuals Slim! Nice!
Spectacular! Almost doesn't look real.
Love your videos and style Slim! We hope to bump into you one day. Kerry
Pretty country!
I love peanut butter and banana... eat them almost everyday Slim... beautiful pano and still shots Slim...
You are sure lucky to be able to travel and to so many nice places ...I thank you so much for sharing with us . I love the places you show and never would have thought I would ever see these things on here that no one talks about . You are good with the camera angles and wow it is exciteing to watch what you can get shown that would be missed by most ...Tell more about how you got into this and where is your wife and family ..Do they ever go with you . Oh question .. Can you get help way out where you go when there is not town around for miles if you got hurt or broke down and could not leave ? Anyway I sure like to tune in to what you are up to on your travels ...God Bless and Best of Times to You ....Janice
Awesome pictures and the narration made them better. On my list to see, Totally Trailer gave me their GPS coords for a great spot. Would love to see more of the video if you have it 'on the cutting room floor'.
Hi jwall62,
There is only one 15 mile road with entrances at each end so you should have no trouble finding a good spot. I preferred the southeast part as the road was better than the west entrance. All spots are right beside the road. I really didn't have a strong story to share, so just kept it short this time. Thanks!
Hey Slim
Are you retired so you an travel
I enjoy your videos more than most
Humor and beautiful scenery
I like the Rv repair stuff too
My wife and I have been full timers for 7 years now
It's hard to get her to boondocks
Has to be a special place for her to do it
We just ordered our Airliner Scout, much of our inspiration was provided by your video posts. We will be out in Utah in June with our "Scout"
*Aliner.....opps! :)
TheGypsyHook We have a 2013 Aliner Scout. Y'all are going to love it! Congratulations and have fun camping!
So lovely to see
Awesome!
Nice colorfull video amazing place.can you please share some of your favorite places that you've had boondock before and would like to return back again for a second time.
Just love your channel ! I am waiting for you to upload a new video and since i feel you should upload more than just once a week !! I am looking at these older videos to help me get my slim potatohead fix 😀
Sorry to disappoint, but I will probably cut back on videos until I have a regular travel schedule. Quality more important than quantity to me. SP
Super job, thanks 👍
Very creative video and still images
I live in Utah. Thank you. I am going there.
Stunning
Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches were one of Elvis Presley's favorites.
I really enjoy your Video's as well as the beautiful scenery. I recently purchased a 2018 Rockwood 213 HW A Frame. I have only been out in it a couple of times, but we are going to use it this weekend (9/30/17 thru 10/2/17) to go down to the "BURR TRAIL" area of Utah to do some boondocking.
Love Utah, should be spectacular right now. Enjoy your trip!
Watch out for the 'rattlesnake' bush, Slim. lol
It’s not boring hearing what you eat!! Let us know,
great tips .
Outstanding videography & photos - wow! How rainstorm tight is your Aliner?
Hi Terry,
Good question. In general it is not bad. Torrential downpours in Texas only had a single drip in one of the vents I installed (my error). That said, I have encountered some moisture inside from more unique sources and conditions. I am working on a video to explain those situations and the fixes.
It's cool to see one of your older videos. Beautiful as always, but your techniques have definitely improved. By the way, that is a terrible shirt.
Really well narrated, and great videography! I was wondering about your mpgs towing the Aliner vs solo?
15 mpg with trailer in tow, 20 mpg without. Thanks!
Love your videos. You could be my brother's twin, not in appearance but in character.
Slim, if only the pictures flowed for another 10 minutes--perhaps an independent presentation. I'l always agog over the scenes south UT just abounds in. Fortunately for me, from there, I'd get to drive about 8 hours to Four Corners and US 550 past Chaco Canyon for a stop; and then, continuing home to the Sacramento Mountains of South Central NM--Ruidoso and Cloudcroft are just awesome to enjoy while staring at the desert floor surrounding Alamogordo, often 35 degrees cooler than "down there"..
Not worried about rattlesnakes or sunburn? You seem so free spirited and casual about it all. Or did you walk these paths 10 times to scare away any critters before filming :-)
wow
Wow, very well done, I thought I was on the Nat. Geo channel. 👍😁🙌 Have you done professional videos in the past? UT is my fav. state to boondock. Bit early for March I can see all the mucked up roads and snow in the first part of the video. Spectacular scenery, so will have to check that out soon. Thanks for the awesome video.
Hey Slim, I'm thinking about driving out there this April. Can you just camp anywhere there for free?? Do you need a permit??
Yes, just camp for free (14 day limit). No permits
I could have sworn it was a hare ....
what ancient God's lived in Utah?...just curious..
Hey Harley Lover! Apparently three of the buttes pictured are named Rooster, Setting Hen and Franklin. Didn't quite do it for my idea of gods at least!
