It’s such a great area. Sorry to hear about those biting midges. Hopefully, the bites were nothing more than just a nuisance. Thanks for watching and sharing your experiences.
It sounds like you're just as much of a fan as we are ❤❤ Ever since we discovered Valley of the Gods, we always make it a point to stop by whenever we're in the area.
Was there last week on an adventure motorcycle. There are bouts of SAND across the washes. We bareley made it through. My riding partner (lots of experience on dirt bikes) went down. Don't believe we would have made it on a cruiser/tourer. The sand is mostly less than 100 feet long and generally not too deep. But there are a couple of nasty exceptions that are longer and deeper. Would not be much if any issue in a vehicle. Very worthwhile detour.
Hopefully, your riding partner and bike were ok! We totally get the challenge with those bouts of sand. We drove there in the spring and then again just a couple of weeks ago, and noticed the difference. We were genuinely surprised. Nevertheless always a pleasure to drive this fabulous road.
@@everettcox-m8i We're not tire experts, but for a drive like the Valley of the Gods, all-terrain tires might be a good bet for handling the rougher roads. That said, we drove SUVs with (pretty new) regular tires. However, there's always a bigger risk of running into issues with regular tires.
😂 This is a ‘bring your own cup of coffee’ kind of road ☕️. And yes, better fill up⛽️before you go. There is a gas station about 20 minutes from the west entrance in a tiny village called Mexican Hat.
The road through the Valley of the Gods is a graded gravel and clay surface road. If the weather is dry, most 2WD vehicles can handle the road. Actually, It is suitable for passenger cars when the road conditions are dry. We drove the road several times, both with 2WD and 4WD. However, road conditions vary throughout the year with regional weather conditions. Local inquiry should be made during and after periods of inclement weather.
That is actually a very good suggestion. We've stayed in Mexican Hat several times, but every time we pass the B&B in Valley of the Gods, it triggers our imagination.

I would think 4wd would work better on loose gravel.
I wouldn't be going anywhere on that gravel road I'd probly run out of gas. Crazy.
Thanks for stopping by. It might look desolate, but there’s gas available within a 100-mile radius.
@@WorldofDrives Akshully I would probly make it all the way my car is a hybrid @450miles range.
You'll easily make it with that range. It's definitely worth the trip 🚗
@@WorldofDrives What tires would you recommend I'm on big Michelin 19s now.

No signs! wow. Are there any gas stations or starbucks? 😅

May I ask when was the video taken?
Thanks for asking. This video was taken early May 2024.
Would a 2wd be able to do this road

Why does it say in today’s video. Really dumb
