Me too. I was born in 57. That makes us both, 39. lol. Irwin Allen, That guy was at the right place at the right time. And how many kids wanted to fight like, Kato (Bruce Lee) from the green hornet.
Just found this today, couldn't resist it. Took me right back to my childhood, only difference back then I watched it in black and white! Great stuff, will be looking for more.
I was a 9yr old living the life growing up in elmhurst Queens NYC movies 75 cents comic books 12 cents and 35 cents for a slice of pizza. My allowance 5 dollars a week! lol 😂
This episode is very atmospheric, and colorful. Admiral Nelson sees the skeletons, and faints🤭!!! Haven't seen this, in many years (50 years, maybe)☺️!!! Warren Stevens always delivers, a good performance.
For a young boy in England with a love for tech and sci-fi, the 60s were a great time (I was born in 1962). Thunderbirds, Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, Captain Scarlet... I had to take their word for it that the shows were in colour, as my parents didn't have a colour TV until I was 12.
Ah, that was just an illusion in Nelson's mind caused by the ghost. Where the show's crew let us down was having the villain's skeleton remain in a Navy uniform instead of transforming into that of a dutch mariner.
I remember they sold model kits and toys based on the submarine and the flying sub from this show. If you had one of these back then when this show was popular, you were the man!
I'm approaching 70 and loved this series as a child of the sixties along with Lost in Space. They knew how to entertain in those days! Richard Basehart was a consummate actor. Watch his performance in the film Moby Dick c.1956.
Very imaginative story for the year this was filmed. I remember watching this program and its first theater movie when Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea first came out as a kid. The whole thing was quite futuristic for its day. It was well done. Like many old westerns of yester-year brings back many old memories of my youth. Many Thanks to You Tube and those that put these old programs and movies on to watch (or re-watch) once again for both the young and the old to enjoy. It allows Grandpas to sit with their grandchildren and tell them how they felt when they first watched them when they were young and in their primes.
My Son and I often discuss the differences in series type shows of yesterday's and present . VTTBOS was typical of the TV shows of the day , westerns, sci fi and crime where each weekly episode was neatly tied up by the end of the program and the only loss or death was a guest actor/ actress . When I watched several Netflix shows with him , such as Altered Carbon or Stranger Things , the episode was a definite continuation of the overall arc with many off shoot plots and rabbit trails and each episode need not tie plot lines up in a neat little bundle . I have to tell you , it took some patience on my part to get used to it . I still feel quite a bit of nostalgia for this show , Time Tunnel , Star Trek , Wagon Train etc , etc .
More fabulous retro fantasy. Comforting escapism. Thanks so much Tooleman for being here and restoring the voyages.. You've been making my day lately with these ❤🙏🏻🙋😀
Lol I love that they are are get attacked by a pirate ship ☠️, the bridge is on fire 🔥 , and they decide to have a meeting in the captains quarters lol 😂
Thanks again Toolman. You are the best at what you do. All you fellow sci-fi fans ,don't forget to look for the Devil's Comet April 10th. Right below the cressant of the moon and slightly to the right . Won't be back untill 2395. Hsve a good night.😊😊😊 2:30
Loved it in the sixties and still loving it in my sixties. Don’t watch tv, but thank goodness we have people like you keeping us entertained. Been watching land of the giants and love thy neighbour, plus some old films. Totally entertained and never laughed so much. Once again thank you so much for your time and effort, which is so much appreciated.
In my teenage years I was enthralled watchind the Sea Views adventures and the sub was so realistic and the design was credible and believable, the flying sub did stretch credibility but I felt it was possible in the future, those were great years growing up it was a bit like star trek under the sea
"Yes,this specific 'Sea View'submarine(21rst.century) was manufactured'built for time'travel both inside out:choc'full of sci-fi paranormal activity-here and there". . .5-6-2024'
They probably did in the earlier seasons (until they got used to the sometimes campy dialog and story lines), but those bits ended up on the cutting room floor.
You got it! The Flying Sub was the only reason I watched the show...even as a kid I knew episodes were poorly written, continuity of scenes was lame... but, The Flying Sub!!! ❤❤❤
every kid in school wanted a toy Sea view and a flying saucer...or flying mini sub... and the Admirals co pilot, was the lead kelvin, in a Star trek episode..
God this takes me back to my childhood! Just loved the series, something to watch on a weekday afternoon after school before dad got home. I especially lived the flying sub. I would have been around 9 when this was aired.
I NEVER NEW HOW GREAT THIS SHOW WAS UNTIL WATCHING IT ON UTUBE. I DON'T WATCH TODAY'S SHOWS BECAUSE I HAVE SHOWS FROM THE PAST THAT ARE FAR SUPERIOR TO WHAT IS ON TV TODAY!😊😊😊😊
Very Good. This is a well produced Irwin Allen series. This particular episode, really good. The model work and Special FX are quite outstanding for the period.
Whata great episode. Never saw this one. The skeleton crew was very cool. Everything could be settled with missiles and karate chops. Those were the days.
We (four brothers) used to watch this in Perth Australia in black-and-white in the 60s. We called it "voyage to see the bottom". Talk about a shoestring budget! 😂
Back in the spring of 1968 I was 8 years old and in the 3rd grade. Sometime in April 1968 one Saturday morning, I watched an episode of the Spider-Man cartoon (yes the '67 Spider-Man) about the Flying Dutchman scaring a fishing village in New England. The villain behind it was Mysterio. The following evening this episode of Voyages to the Bottom of the Sea was on TV (repeat broadcast). During the opening scene when Van Wyck and Nelson see the square rigger outside the viewport Van Wyck asks Nelson what is that. When sitting in front of the TV I said "that's the Flying Dutchman from Spider-Man".
I for one kept hoping that Red Skelton would make a cameo. This program was great back in the day and it's still fun. Good video quality. I wonder if these skeletons were a precursor to Star Trek's "Bones." Lol.
Ahhh. Admiral Nelson's first mistake apond crashing the Flying Sub in the sea: he wants to explore the near island, instead of attempting repairs first, to secure a (plan B) get away plan if needed.
😂This was our little indulgence in our little tv when there was no chaos and pest like the mobile phones. 😂How about land of the Giant, could anybody upload those classics😁
I like that skeleton crew working the graveyard shift 🤪. That photo got me to watch this episode again after many years. I enjoyed watching the show when I was a kid.
I agree. Part of that awesomeness was that there was so much less broadcasting time. I remember the times when TV started in the afternoon and ended at midnight. Sometimes, less is more.
Brilliant. How much better tv was in the early 1960's.
My favorite cartoons were, Beanie and Cecil, The Jetson's, The Flintstones and Believe it or not, Clutch Cargo (That was a strange cartoon). lol
@@ArtfromBerwyn-cw5op I loved watching Jonny Quest.
Excitement and fun they did it all the sets and models people loved their work and it shows , its dismissal dark and dreary , only a few shows now
Well that era was more interesting, as were many things. But now we are a nation of self-absorbed idiots.
I was ten in 1967 and I loved watching this, Lost in Space, The Green Hornet, Time Tunnel and Batman.
And Land of the Giants
Oh yeah Lost in Space was great I have the whole collection❤❤❤❤
Me too. I was born in 57. That makes us both, 39. lol. Irwin Allen, That guy was at the right place at the right time. And how many kids wanted to fight like, Kato (Bruce Lee) from the green hornet.
I’m with you on this one !
I been around since 55,so I grew up watching good shows like this. ❤
For a young 8 year old boy this was a fantastic show 👏 😊
My brother had the toy submarine!😂
This is one of my favorite shows when I was a kid now I'm 61 years old and I'm still watching it❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
Yes, I'm 62 years old and somehow I thought it was a better show than what we just watched! Hahahahaha, not everything was better back then!
Same here, good times .
Same here I'm 61 too. I became fascinated by submarines and n naval vessels due to this show.
Yes it was good TV back in the 60s
I guess we never get old the same with Lost in space and Gilligan's Island and all the mother 60s shows
When I was a kid watching this show, my dad called it "Voyage to See What's At The Bottom." He was a funny guy most of the time.
Just found this today, couldn't resist it. Took me right back to my childhood, only difference back then I watched it in black and white!
Great stuff, will be looking for more.
I love reliving my childhood time, watching great shows like this, even if its only for a short time.
I’ll take reliving chunks of my childhood 45 minutes at a time with pleasure!
Could not agree more🇮🇪🇮🇪
This episode was first aired on my birthday, ie. the literal day I was born! 10/8/67.
I remember being totally freaked out
by this one as a kid. Now, almost 61,
I had to suspended my disbelief so
much I nearly threw my back out.

Thanks for the laugh!

Nice job , Tooleman! Nice detail, smooth blending
I always LOVED the sparks and slightly out of rhythm leaping from side to side 😁
Always LOVED this show as a kid!
I love how the skeleton crew completely undressed themselves before dying!
Good catch mate, I missed that😂
Ah, that was just an illusion in Nelson's mind caused by the ghost.

I've heard of skeleton crews before but this is ridiculous! One of the episodes I remember most from my childhood. Thanks, TooleMan.
Skeleton crew! LOL, well done.
This really made a 5 to 8 year old kid smile back in the day and it was cool to see it again just now !! 😀
Admiral Nelson must be livid; he arrives back aboard Seaview only the find the entire crew is SKULLED 😝💀
No.matter how outrageous it got I watched it evety week
Warren Stevens' wig beats Terry Becker's any time!😂
They're wore wigs? 🤔🤫
Nice job redoing the video quality, some of the sharpest 1080p I’ve ever seen 👍👍

Models are still available. Large and small scale 8 and 4 window Seaview. Flying sub in at least 3 different scales.
