I remember this video cover was on the shelf at the Mom and Pop video rental place that my dad took me to on Friday afternoons. This was before Blockbuster put the Mom and Pops out of business. The cassette cover had this sick-ass painting of a skeleton in a spacesuit, which of course never actually happens in the movie. We never rented it, but I would give almost anything to go back to relive one of those Fridays again.
It was an awesome bit of artwork!
A lot of good memories at the local mom and pop video stores in Chicago. I recall one in particular called Leo's Video. The deal was 3 video rental vhs cassette movies for $5. I think it was like 1 new release allowed and 2 more older releases. It was for like 2 night and had to return them on day 3rd day. The cover to this one would have been awesome to some how have that scene in the movie. It sure looked cool.

Rented mine at both my local M&P video store and Blockbuster. At the time, I was entertained (pre-teen). A bad spoof version of a Mad Max movie. 😂
This brings back memories. Renting movies. Eating microwave popcorn and frozen pizzas on the weekend. While watching the five movies family had rented.

Of course blockbuster did put out the mom and Pop video stores but blockbuster bit the big one too after they came with online movies which is what blockbuster had coming. I believe they close her last store last year.
I was an extra in several scenes in this movie. The set was very cool, built in an airplane graveyard near Halifax, Nova Scotia - although it was later learned it was also very toxic.
As a kid i was always drawn to this box on the shelf at the movie store. It really stood out. Never did get up the guts to rent it.

I rented this movie at local rental store as a youth.
Classic film of my childhood that I still enjoy. I own every type of format of this film. Beta, VHS, VCD, DVD, BLU-RAY, LASER DISC, Soundtrack on Vinyl, various poster, one poster signed by Tim Choate, and a personal email/letter from him talking about the filming experience and a never before seen behind the screens photo of the actors reading the script in the spaceship.

I remember parts of this movie being filmed a few miles from my house, when I was little, here in Nova Scotia. When the Space Pod crashes roughly about 18 to 20 minutes in, that is actually a beach in South West Port Mouton. Any scene with sand and/or water actually..lol
I remembered bits of this movie when I was kid after 30 years amazing flick.

This is one of those 80's movies that had better poster art than the actual film.
I'll never forget the time that I saw this back when it came out on video in 1986. The ending had me laughing hysterically!
Watched this when it came out on VHS. 80 iq plot, 80 iq director. 80 iq actors, and I'll still watch it. Should be on MST3000.

The best part is when the guards piss on Vinny. I must've rewound that part 20 times when I first watched it I was laughing so hard.

Those who like this film should check out The Aftermath (1982). It has a similar premise and it may be inspired Defcon 4 in some way.

A strange idea for the U.S Space Force even in 1985.
Regan era had tried to launch something like this back then called "Star Wars" this was loosely based off that idea.

When this came out I stopped watching when the torn off hand appeared it was very frightened me that scean i still remember so I'm back today to finish the film it's very good survival adventure movie.
The movie went downhill right after that scene!!!! You didn't miss anything.

Just trashy enough to be a guilty pleasure but enough quality to separate it from the real junk of that era. The only thing that ever bothered me was trying to figure out how much time had passed between the Armageddon and our main characters crash landing on earth. It's not well established and as a result it feels like only a day or two have passed, in which case humanity went to s@it fast, I would have expected at least a couple of months before canabalism and dressing up like an extra from the road warrior.
It's 3 months after the initial attack. But yeah, there was a plot hole that didn't explain that in the movie.

I'm glad I never went to movies due to unable to smoke weed there and dislike confinement, so when I find one w/o commercials, I'm not wasting time rewatching due to wasting my youth... Most, I can't get past 15 min., but this is fun to watch stoned.
