I get in trouble for opening an umbrella in the house and this guy opens a whole tent and the roof didn't even pop off the house. Should look good on the truck. :)
Throw caution to the wind and give it a try! What’s the worst that can happen?!
Definitely can’t wait to see it mounted.. thinking about getting the same for my 4Runner..
I got it on the truck a couple days ago, SUPER impressed with it. I’ll get a video done on it coming up soon. Hopefully to post next week!
Great to meet you at overland of America today. Thanks for all the great info on the tent.
Absolutely awesome talking to you! Such a great event
Thanks for show casing the tent. Looked at another video while back with the Naturenest wedge style pop up tent but kinda like this one.
Really like this style more than the wedge as it doesn’t limit your foot room. The design of the wedge with the rack up top is really nice tho!
Unboxing that looked like a big evaporator coil I replace on AC systems lol. Nice tent!
Thanks! I’m super happy with it so far!
Now I’m waiting for the experience in it. I want to see it set up. I’m real interested in one of these now.
Video of my first night in the tent will go live this Friday! Had some wild weather that put it to the test
@@mo_bronco looking forward to seeing it!
We need a video of you inside of it. I want to see what the headroom is like
Check out the video I put up 2 weeks ago, has full inside and overnight impressions.
Nice Bronco!
Thanks! I’ll be making a video on it soon.
That's going to look good on your rig. Just curious though, since the bottom of the tent will be mounted securely to the vehicle do you think the top will sway in the wind? Wedge style tents don't sway due to the hinges attaching the top to the bottom tub. Seems like the struts might take a lot of stress from wind.
I’m going to be really interested in it in the wind. So far I’ve pushed it around quite a bit and there is a little sway but nothing that concerns me at all.
I had mine in 15-20 mph gust, the tent is help up with internal struts just like the clam style tents. I have both styles.
Thanks for the feedback! Super excited to get mine out!
What’s the headroom like can you sit up ok ? I think most are like 48-50? Deciding between this and using my topper, all comes down to having headroom to change. Thanks good review
Just spent the weekend in it with my 4yo for a bit of a shakedown run. I can sit up fully in the tent and “stretch” to touch the crown of my head on the roof but there’s no hunching over at all; I’m right at 6’. The net that holds some of your items will be in the way when sitting straight up but that’s not issue for changing.
Awesome thanks
Any updates? I am waiting on mine to come
Absolutely love it. Spent a lot of time in it thus far, the only tough part is collapsing it but after a half dozen times you’ll get the hang of it!
Getting one of these to put on my Volvo xc70 so I can do some casual car camping with my GF on weekends this seems like the easiest one for the money. Anyone use this on a smaller vehicle and have any thoughts?
Just check out your roof rack capacity, otherwise go for it! My son and I just finished up our first night in the tent and it was fantastic! Even in 30 mph gusts
@@mo_bronco rack will handle it. Thats pretty wind resistant I think I will get one, I was wondering how this design would hold up to wind since the clamshell ones seem to be deemed most wind resistant. 30mph is most I’d wanna camp in anyway so that’s perfect for us
Yeah, I wouldn’t want to be out in more than that anyways! It was breezy but the fabric is super thick and there was no concern from me on strength!
Looks like a great unit for the price, 👍
I’m extremely impressed with it
@5:00 when you opened the rooftop, i noticed "sway" from the top shell and it didn't look to stable. is this a concern in wind??
I had that same concern while deploying it the first time but once it is fully deployed it’s really stable. Had it out in some really wicked weather this weekend and it performed flawlessly, video will go up tomorrow evening on that experience!
@@mo_bronco thanks for a quick response, appreciate it.
@ZEROmg13 absolutely!
Great video! How long did it take to ship to you? I ordered the same tent last week and got an initial shipping notification but no updates since...
About 10 days in total, 3rd party shipping can be brutal!
@@mo_bronco Oh thats not bad at all! Unfortunately for me, the shipping company just called me and can't deliver until the week of 9/16. :(
Oh man, that’s brutal!
So how does it hook to the top of a truck??? Do you have a video of the installation
Tent mounts to the truck with standard aluminum extruded rails that are actually recessed flat with the shell of the tent. They mount on the crossbars of your rack with bolts and nuts. The mounting is very similar to most other tents on the market that I have been around.
Better than the free firewood model??
Hahahaha
Can you also let me know the awning you picked too.
I’m going to do the NaturNest 270 Plus awning:

Here it is on Amazon:

Do you get a lot of wind noise while driving with it?
I don’t have any wind noise that I can tell. I’m sure there’s something but my truck being a 7.3 is pretty loud to begin with and the tent is aerodynamic so it’s probably not much at all.
Is it all weather?
Absolutely is, I posted another video recently of being out in some severe weather in it. Tent did awesome
How long is the mattress. Nobody ever gets in and shows how long it really is.
Check out my other video on the tent. It’s plenty long for me, I’m right at 6’. Tent is 84” internal
@@mo_bronco
The only negative I see is the very top, where it looks like you can have standing water if it rains..but over all it looks good and spacious compared to clamshell design…
I haven’t experienced any standing water, my truck sits outside every night. It’s sloped some so water runs off.
I seen damage on top it had a big dent
You’re not wrong, it popped right out and hasn’t been back since. No visible signs of damage are there now.
What LTL carrier delivered that mess?
CEVA, I had never done business with them prior to this
amazon got you good without any lubricant.
I’m a forklift operator at a company that ships all types of stuff and we ship these sometimes. Those boxes can be difficult to pick up and carry on the forklift and many guys don’t have the patience or brain capacity to be gentle with them. Real shame they destroyed yours and I hope it wasn’t my company haha
All in all, the box was just damaged, thankfully the tent is perfect!
Nice way to say the box was never ment to be moved.
Everything above carry weight/size should be made for forklift, as that is what will be used to move it.
@@ssu7653 we get giant windows and glass shower doors strapped to the walls or sometimes stacked on top of random freight. Sometimes the whole deal will be 200lbs +. Home Depot is good though they’ll use a pallet and prop them up with boards and plastic wrap
@murican1889 this one was shipped on a pallet but it’s obviously a double length one. Someone moved it with standard forks and not extended.
Huge dent on the top of that shell can’t believe you missed that….
There was and it popped right out. We can thank my 4yo for that when he decided to crawl on top of it
dang im not first comment :(
Hard to be first with someone this popular…
I love the idea of a rooftop tent I just can’t get past $1000 for a tent that should be at most $250 maybe $300. I really want one but there is just this huge disparity between what they cost and what they are. DIY time I guess!
I looked at building one myself out of 80/20 extruded, just for the extruded aluminum was going to be way more than $300
Wait till winter and there will be plenty on marketplace and Craigslist.
5 bucks it was xpo that delivered it. I used to work there. total trash
Wasn’t XPO but I’ve had bad experiences there too. This was Ceva Logistics.
@@mo_bronco hhmm. We don't have them here in Denver. I drive for saia now . They must be a pretty small ltl company
Nothing about the dent... nothing but a Trans review... obviously getting paid for the review... who buys a tent that can't fit the whole family?
100% I’m not paid for the review, but that’s okay.
I had a Smittybilt XL prior to this, with a 4 and 2 year old, I didn’t need something that large nor did I want something like the Smittybilt any longer.
$1000 for a tent you cannot even stand up in. I will pass
Do you just stand around in your tent?
@@BareBackBroncos You need to move around. Also I am 63 years old & that small is to small for my old fat a55
Roof top tents aren't made to stand up in. But you get points for the saucy comment nonetheless. #facepalm
@sportkiteflyer how many points should we give? I’m thinking 6
Dude, have you tried sitting in it? I think no!!!
Absolutely have, it’s rather comfortable
