What's All that SEAFOAM Smoke? - Debunking the 'Know-It-All' Comments!

- Hey Good People!
I'm so tired of this debate that I have stopped responding. I posted a short of me using sea foam a while ago, and I got a lot of comments saying I was an idiot for saying that the excessive smoke was because the engine was super dirty.
In this video, I prove my theory..... or Did I? Let me know in the comments!

Sounds like he loves what he does.
You seem like the nicest mechanic/person on earth :)
I've used this stuff for years and shout out to the fact that you still have a 1985 Honda Accord living till this day 💯, anytime I see a mechanic with a older vehicle still going. That tells me that he knows his stuff thanks for the video .
Thanks man! I love that car 👨🏽🔧
My first vehicle I bought at 15 for $300 at a public auto auction . It was a silver 87 accord fuel injected instead of the carbureted 87 accord . It was Ana amazing car and never let me down
Dang I miss my 85 Honda Accord that I bought back in the early 90s for a dollar from one of my best friends girlfriend after she had a minor front end accident. It's looked a lot worse than it was but nothing a trip or two to the salvage yard couldn't fix. In total I paid $169 for the replacement parts. Then one day out of the blue she was impounded NYC because of tickets that my cousin got on a different car I sold him a four years prior and stupidly allowed him to keep it registered in my name for a week.
To get my 85 out of impound would have cost me $2500 so I had to let it go.......Lesson learned!!!
Seafoam does miracles on engines. No doubt.
Bought a 2011 avalanche and did a full seafoam treatment. Crank case. Throttle body and fuel tank. Take care of your stuff and it will last longer
Alex you really have a positive attitude. Love you dude
Thanks brother I love all my fans as well
I support mechanics like this not just because they are honest but it’s what they know that makes me respect them props to this man here🎉 you gained a sub👍🏽
I use seafoam in the crankcase, either letting the car idle for a bit or 10-100 miles before oil changes on my cars(Old bought, used). I can see the varnish being extracted with the oil, its power stuff. Quality content. Thanks for uploading.
Wow, I may try this!. Thank you for making this video and bring so much positive energy. You smiled all the time and just that help to compensate from all the frustration and struggle from having to figure out how to fix our cars. God bless you brother!
Would you recommend putting a bottle of seafoam with a fill up every so often? Wouldn't that keep the carbon from building up? Also, thanks for the YT videos you put out. Your experience with engines do help many people to realize that maintaining a vehicle will go a long way in keeping that vehicle running smoothly. Thanks for the video.
Yes, just by adding seafoam in the gas tank will help out a lot. I recommend doing that every 6 to 10,000 miles.my pleasure. I’m glad you enjoy my videos.
Are you putting the gas treatment under the hood where are you putting it under the hood I put it in my gas tank?
Yes I would like to know as well. I don't believe I have a carburator like the first car. So where would I pour it in. I really need to know. Thanx
I must have mussed the part where u explained where U pour it into. I used to work at auto zone like 10 years ago and my coworker showed me how to pour it into a vacuum line and it would do the same thing ur doing here. But it's been so long now I've forgotten what line that was. I have a 2.4l vtec in a 15 acura tlx.
Hey love the video Alex, please keep them coming.
Well done Mate! Nice comparison. Fun watching your efforts. Thanks!
I'm glad u did this video keep em coming Alex
I had a motor caked with carbon on the pistons. with the engine at operating temperature it smoked a lot with seafoam, but when the engine was cold it didn't smoke much at all, plus it was cat-free.
I ended up running premium gas and got the engine up to some higher rpms and cleaned it right out, well eventually.
That's what I'm talking bout new pusher car 😂
Yeah man! The old one finally gave out on me 😫 I let tow Johnny take it
Hey Alex , I enjoy your videos and all your knowledge, I have a 2014 Charger, can I do the the Sea foam without any problems? Thank you
I’ll wait for your response ✌🏽
I do it all the time with much success. yes it would be perfectly fine.
How often can you use sea foam?
Recently found some of your shorts and now your videos enjoy them! Lifelong car guy have a 21 Subaru Ascent have had some carbon build up in it was cutting out at highway speeds up big passes WAS under warranty no longer dealer fixed it took them a few days and would be expensive with no warranty. Have used Seafoam in gas with good results however never in the oil does the oil have to be drained afterwards or can it stay in? Appreciate any help thank you enjoy your videos!!
Nice video, I was hoping you would put the scope in the cylinder again to see if there was a noticeable difference in carbon.
I got you! I’ll make another video and do a before and after!
@@AlexTheCarDoctorEven with the scope after the process will not show a good deal of improvement. You should have used their top engine cleaner product as this does a much better job, still all in all I don't believe in snake oils, I believe in changing your oil before it's due. I have an old Ford Taurus that I use to go from A to b and it has 230,000 mi on and the top of the pistons have almost zero carbon buildup because I changed the oil at every 3000 miles and make sure the vehicle is tuned up properly at all times including it clean air cleaner every year. These are the things that keep your motor spotless inside
Thanks for that comment. Did you mean to say “a clean air filter” towards the end?
Where are you adding the seafoam? Thanks for the video.
Where do you pour the Sea Foam into? We have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS and a mechanic told us that the catalytic converter is bad and needs to be replaced so we were going to try this before having to pay for the catalytic repair
What happened? Did you avoid replacing the cat?
@@JakeBor I haven't tried using the sea foam stuff yet. I did use something called CataClean but it didn't help very much
@@graciouslygrowing9786 Right on thanks for the response...are you getting the P0430 code?
Get a scan tool. Cheap one is an elm327 and a phone with the scan tool app. Check for misfires. If none, then add seafoam to the tank, fill the tank up with PREMIUM gasoline and run the engine hard like you were on the autobahn. I'm talking at least 75mph on the highways. Just take a long trip to the next state, set her on cruise control at 75mph and let it ride. On hills your cruise control will sometimes run over 3500 rpm. It should burn out whatever is in the cat after 2 hours. You want that cat hot. It can go as high as 1500 degrees Fahrenheit. If it's over 1800, you will melt the cat's core; which isn't a bad thing if you live in a non-emissions state.
Great vlog showing the difference…👍👍
I've never used seafoam but have heard nothing but good things about it the texture looks like slip solution (something used for polygel nails to keep the polygel from sticking to the brush so application is smooth and easy)
Where do you pour the see foam in the engine tho?
@@RAPMEXICANOLOCOFLOW1000 it's written on the can. Put it in the oil and in the gas tank. They also have a spray that goes in the air intake.
Man, thanks for this video i watched you do this to a Camaro, and thought id give it a shot on my truck for a bank1 code... Anyways, truck has 72,000 miles and i take care of it. When i tried it absolutely no smoke... I said this shit dont work but i guess it was good that it didn't so now i know it was clean already LMAO!! Wish you nothing but the best bro!!
Sea Foam will not only destroy one's engine, but also tear a hole in the space-time continuum! Even happens on Myth-Busters!
Love your channel and your energy
Thank you so much!!
I have heard you can pour a can in the gas tank; will it work as well putting in gas tank. I have never used Seafoam.
Add half a bottle of seafoam in gas tank with a quarter tank. Drive it at highway speeds for 30 minutes. Putting it in gas tank will not clean intake system tho. Just the fuel system such as your fuel injectors
yes you can add it to the gas, but if you have fuel injection it will not clean the intake, throttle or intake valves if you have direct injection, that is where most of the carbon is
Read the can lol. Or watch more seafoam videos on youtube. The seafoam can has very specific directions on how to use it correctly
Where are you pouring the seafoam into? Is it the oil or throttle body?
There is one for the intake that is a spray and one that goes in the oil as well as the fuel injector cleaner. So 3 separate treatments that I’m aware of
I asked the same question and see many others has done so as well but no answer, It would be nice if he showed where he was pouring it in.
I’ve been using seafoam forever, and generally, you put it in the gas tank or you put it in the oil and run it for a little while and change the oil but pouring it straight down the carburetor kind of a waste. You can just use water and it will convert to steam and do the same thing and yes, it does blow smoke out just like the seafoam does. you would only want to pour the water down a carbureted engine, fuel injection is where the seafoam will clean the injectors, most cars that have fuel injection have catalytic converters, and when people sit in traffic and never get their car heated up or move fast enough to clean the catalytic converter up overtime your car can become constipated because all the honeycomb inside of your catalytic converter collects all the carbon and if it doesn’t get heated up to the right temperature, it never clears out and this will cause issues with your car running
I've always put seafoam in my gas tank don't see much of a difference. I want to know will this work on a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L doing it that way as you showed in this video because I'm tired of getting this P0430 code?. I've replaced the whole exhaust system, oxygen sensors, purge valve solenoid, gas cap, spark plugs, ignition coils. Original Dodge spark plug wires and now I'm about to do the leak detection pump due to see a leak all over over that part and behind it. Any siggestions?
where do you poor it in at?
Im subscribed, where are you pouring ir into. I don't have a carburator. 2004 Saturn ION
Banana in the Tail Pipe!😂😂
it legit makes the vroom vroom sound lmao
Your right, this was for entertainment only. You didn't prove anything to me without after photos of the spark plugs and cylinders after treatment.
That’s not what this video was about. It was about if cleaner cars smoked the same as dirtier cars. Now if you want a video about if Seafoam works or how well it works, just ask
MY DURANGO goes VRUOOOM,,VRUOOOOMM. WHILE IT LEANS LEFT AND RIGHT. ..
UNLIMITED ...POWAAAAAAAAA😉..
Seafoam tell you on the bottle that you have whilte smoke when using. Once it burns off you good. Its fine. My 08 has been meticulous maintain and i use it every 20k or so. I dont have carbon buildup
Where did you pour the seafoam into?
Where is your garage located in Georgia and used car business.
Hey there me and my wife business location is 1850 joy lake Road 30260
Ok thanks ,have a great weekend.
got a diesel you could demonstrate on?
I have a Subaru forester 2011 with p0420, should try seafoam? The car is acting weird. Where do I pour the seafoam?
Try ATS 505. Designed for for cleaning from the injectors, and pistons, or the crank case. The young man is a decent mechanic, but he is absolutely mistaken about using seafoam in a modern engine. It is designed for 2 cycle engines.
How would I do a seafoam treatment on my 2016 Chevy Camaro ? Where would I pour it in at?
Lol I got nervous for a quick sec, because I had no smoke at all. I have 70,000 miles in my Durango
Great video, very important subject😍
Alex do you have a video on 3.6 pentastar harmonic balancer
love 85 accord. obsess 85 accord
Nice
The best pour in treatment is ATS 505.
thats one is expensive though
My SRX also didn't smoke
Love these videos, thanks!
Edit: can this be used on a car with 150k on it? Mazda 3 exactly, never used this stuff it honestly scares me but Ive been wanting to use it on a car for years. every time i change my oil i look at seafoam and im not like, not today, wish i could get the balls to use it. my only car tho so
Yes you can! I got a tutorial on the channel, but if you need any help let me know.
It's completely safe. Just watch a ton of videos on UA-cam. Seafoam can be used in your fuel tank. Crank case and throttle body. The only thing is read the seafoam can they have really good instructions. The crankcase treatment you just want to make sure to have your oil changed within 300 miles after doing it but again there are tons of videos on youtube about seafoam. It's one of the best products in my opinion.
Nice vids doc. Has anyone ever told you that you sound alot like Bizzy Bone?
Yes! … ALOT 🤣😂 but bone thugs is my favorite rap group so I’m cool with it!

I love Seafoam
Can this be used on a supercharged vehicle thru the vacuum system? Ty.
Where are u pouring the sea foam into?
Are you sure its not just sitting in a pool somewhere in the intake manifold?
Should of showed us with the camera see how it cleaned. Does this hurt/clog the catalytic converters?
It doesn’t hurt or clog the catalytic converters. And this video was a response to naysayers about Seafoam smoke. I will make another video soon about whether Seafoam really works or not and show before and after pics 😉
@@AlexTheCarDoctor thank you for your reply. I'm going to try it out

Thank you man… I did this on my Camaro and the P0420-P0340 code went off
Yep! Some people don’t believe it works, but it can! Glad it worked for you buddy!
I've always wondered why anyone would put over-the-counter remedies in their engines. The only thing you should be putting in the engine is oil, antifreeze and transmission fluid.
Damn dude, you put transmission fluid in your engine? Instead of getting over the counter remedies, I’ll make sure I get something good prescribed by my car doctor 😂
@@McGuinness89 that was a good one!!!
you must be the guy that is always looking for a new car, Alex always has good advice, you can trust it and your car will run better, I have been a mechanic for 43 years, he is the real deal, and where do you put the transmission fluid into your engine?
@@McGuinness89 I mean...putting transmission fluid in your engine to clean it out is actually a thing...
You can do the same thing with transmission fluid
The only thing I have on the subject is Scotty Kilmer saying something about it’s for OLDER ENGINES not modern ones
Uncle Scotty be trippin sometimes. You can definitely use it on modern engines.
Scotty Kilmer spouts a lot of stuff with no backing behind it, but he says it with conviction.
Seafoam does not cause smoke if the engine is clean. Never tried it.
If you do, let me know. It’ll prove my point even more.

Sea foam is just a smoke show. I just pull the upper plenums and hose the intake valves down with cleaner if direct injection and coated
were did you put into did not see it
That's what's up
If u put sea foam on the 02 sensor the upper one into ur car .. woah u get smoke as sea foam
Man, gunk up that newer car with some 2 stroke oil added to tbe fuel and just gunk it all up lol. Then we'll see the Seafoam chooch.
When I use sea foam there is absolutely no smoke that comes out.
Okay so some people believe in snake oil and some people don't. The most disturbing part of this video was that you never showed the cylinder after you did the treatment. What do you think that tells your viewers.
Yeah you’re right it’s mixed reviews on this stuff but I’ve been using it for years and had great success. that was gonna be my next video,so many other videos out there showing before and after so I wasn’t in a hurry of putting one out
Wasn't this video about deep bunking What the smoke is? not so much, it's cleaning power?
Wow. I never understood ppl who always think like an egg head.
Oil burning is not white but blueish in color.
Acetone and Kerosene however do smoke white when combusted under pressure.
I must be missing something here. I have seen you doing work and you seem knowledgeable, so I will assume you are trolling the naysayers given the fact that you didn't prove anything in this video. When you pour seafoam in the Accord, it goes through the carburetor directly into the engine and out the exhaust. As for the Dart, you have to use spray seafoam to prove your point. When you pour it in like water as you did through the throttle body, it simply pools at the bottom of the intake manifold and does not get into the engine, and therefore little to no smoke. There isn't enough vacuum in the manifold to pull non-atomized liquid into the runners. That's why you have to use spray seafoam for these engines.
My question to you is, if the white smoke is from engine contaminants being burned, why don't we have white smoke all the time when carbon is burned up in the engine? The carbon that remains in the engine is a tiny part of the total carbon produced from burning hundreds of gallons of fuel which means, most carbon is burned up through everyday driving. But why don't we see smoke?
He's the hood Scotty Kilmer
Is this the only myth video if so can you do more like not letting the car warm up before you take off
Yes! That’s a great idea. Thank you! I’ll get one done for you!
