@@ProjectFarm Wow! What a difference. I never would have expected such a dramatic change. This is the 4th video of yours that I watched today. Excellent work! Subbed and bell rung.
@@ProjectFarm do you suggest engine restore additive when one or more cylinders have low compression? 5,7L V8 L98 possibly high blow by with 10w40, maybe worn piston rings... complete rebuild would be around 5k$ :(
@Jay'sWorld! *Go work on your toy rc cars lil guy, let your mechanic take care of your girl and her vehicle. Couldn't even bless you with a view you are that big of a JOKE*
I am a diesel mechanic, I fully believe seafoam and Lucas are great. I had sticking injectors in a 6.0 Ford engine. Fil fuel filter base with seafoam, another can in the tank. No more issues. This guy and his tests are unbiased and very informative. Thanks for posting!
I realize this vid is old but wanted to add a story. One of my older 4cyl cars at 250k miles had like new compression on three cyls and below spec compression on one. On the advice of a mechanic friend I took out the plug for that cyl and sprayed in seafoam until it puddled on the piston. He said I may have a stuck ring. I did this three times over a week while the car sat, testing compression each time. 4th try. BOOM compression up to match the others and still running today. I changed the oil right after to get that stuff out. Word to the wise... when you run the engine to burn this stuff out do it AT NIGHT so your neighbors dont spaz and call the fire department.
I did it in the parking lot of auto zone and noticed some Mexicans standing on the sidewalk looking at me then I raised up and you couldn't see their car beside me with the windows down until the smoke cleared.
Man this channel is super underrated and the fact that it is completely unbiased testing and you don’t have dumb music or anything like that is awesome I wish you luck
@@ProjectFarm Never used the Seafoam before, but the Lucas oil additive *dramatically* improved the low oil pressure problem on my father's old Ford Econoline. Love your channel!!!
This dude has my respect to the max. Extremely intellectual and continues to give honest unsponsored reviews for people that are just looking to expand their knowledge base. If I could subscribe ten more times I would. You sir are the GOAT
I'd like to point out that when measuring out Seafoamss recommendations for the amount of the product to put into the crankcase that they're "proably" referring to volumetric ounces of liquid and zN0T ounces of weight.I suppose there's the possibility that they could be the same IF ...the can of liquid would weigh 16 net. Oun es.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate older blue collar guys or just older guys in general that aren’t the “the old ways are always the best”. So thank you very much Adam, God Bless you and yours
Just gave this treatment to my used chevy express AWD that hit 265k. Immediately enjoying the easier engine turn over and less vibration. Your videos continue to be extremely helpful, thank you!
I have a 1998 Nissan Altima with 311000 (three hundred and eleven) thousand miles. It wasn't running right, so I added a can of seafoam to the gas. It didn't solve the engine bucking and jerking, so I bought a container of another brand of cleanser that said it would be enough for 25 gallons. I was in the mindset that more was better and added the whole thing to my 14 gallon tank. Now my car barely keeps running and sounds like it's only running on two cylinders. It may not have been the cleanser, but I thought I would ask you if you thought I made have damaged my engine or some other components of the engine, like the catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, noc sensor, fuel injectors and etc?
@@IM1LDSRU2 yeah honest truth is 311,000 is very high mileage and many vehicles start to die at this point. These cleaners only clean up carbon from the engine but your engine might have more issues than just carbon build up. Clearing the carbon could've caused a pressure leak somewhere as well which can lead to low compression in the engine which could be your issue. Would the cleaner cause damage? Unlikely. Could it have cleared up a leak somewhere that carbon build up might've plugged? Possibly
@@IM1LDSRU2 I always wondered if the catalytic converter would plug up like happens if you run rich. If you got through all the cleaner, and are back to good fuel, I would test removing the cat if you can.

I've been a huge fan of seafoam for years, I also use it in my mowers and 2 stroke equipment. Every time I mix a can of gas I put a splash of seafoam in with the oil. It's literally the only product I've ever purchased that works better than it claims to. Excellent video
The most impressive part is not JUST the unbiased scientific method tests. It is all of that combined with your excellent video production skills that make all of your videos enjoyable to watch regardless of topic.

Who could possibly give this a thumbs down? You were extremely clear and concise with everything you said. The before and after examples were great. And.....NO stupid background music to ruin everything else you did perfectly. Every UA-cam channel owner should watch you and learn. Thank you.
Wouldn't it be better to open the oil pan, clean the pan, because the sludge will deposit and then it's going to sucked again, and that will clog, the internal oil sucking filter (I don't know the name in English 🤣)... Everyone that does a flush usually opens and clean the oil pan... Correct me if I'm wrong...
I never believed in additives. I watched this video and bought some Seafoam to try out on a 31 yr old barn found Honda motorcycle I was fixing to rebuild. I figured what the heck, I'm going to rebuild/rebore/rering and replace everything anyways. Did like the video. Scared the hell out of myself. Never rebuilt the motor. After initial treatment it would start on 4-10 kicks no problem. 3 months of riding daily on Seafoam treated gas, 2-3 kicks. 6 months later 1-2 kicks. I paid $250 for that bike and just sold it for $2650 and only replaced the front and rear wheel bearings and $30 worth of Seafoam. The guy that bought it tried to kick it over without using the compression release, he couldn't, I never could either. He's like "did you rebuilt the top end?" , me: "Nope, just got it going using Seafoam." . He was shocked, he was like me with my skepticism about additives. I had three cans on hand and gave them to him along with 1/2 a case of Honda motor oil. He immediately dumped a can of Seafoam into his trucks tank. Him and his son drove away with the bike. 10-12 days later he sent me an email praising Seafoam and how his truck starts easily now.
@Rex Erection It rips up carbon deposits and oil sludge. I use it on my 220k mile '91 Daytona every so often, and drive it HARD for 100-200 miles (heat makes deposits softer). When I drain it out, the oil is super nasty, but it makes the whole engine cleaner.
I first used it in 2011 on a 1976 Honda 360. It hadn't ran for 10 years. I expected big carb problems but Seafoam worked wonders and the carbs cleaned up wonderfully
Seafoam wotks, and if you ever get a headgasket leak try out liquid glass it's kept 3 of my car's running for years after the leaks formed but I had 2 where the leaks were just to big so it won't always work orth a shot though cause fuck taking shit to machine shops
I respect your dedication to non-biased experimentation and testing across a variety of equipment, engines, fluids, etc. Your curiosity is evident in your videos and attitude. Absolutely love this channel!
Out of many videos I’ve watched on UA-cam, this was the most calm and analytical without too much extra done. You toggled many points, and it was so easy to follow along. Thanks you for the time put in.
Some people buy cars and never have them serviced because it cost money. They wait until something breaks down and cry when they see the bill. Preventive maintenance is the key!
Yep. I've seen mostly women & kids who will spend money and/or effort on keeping their vehicle washed, waxed & detailed............but won't bother with simple, preventative scheduled maintenance of the engine & drivetrain. Their car "looks great" on the outside, but the engine is about shot & their engine oil looks like tar. Total insanity. Dad always said: "Your engine will treat you the way you treat it".......
a trick i've learned about the Lucas is to put it in first, then pour about half of your first quart of oil in the bottle of lucas and shake it around a bit to get all of it out of the bottle, then cut the bottom off the lucas bottle and use it as a funnel lol
I do the same thing! They make great funnels. I keep the spout with the nipple cover also. Put the funnel in a big zip lock bag to keep it from getting dust and dirt contaminated. That is best with all funnels. In an emergency, or for super light weight for carrying in an aircraft, you can make a great funnel out of a water bottle also by the cutting the bottom off at the angle that's best for the particular engine filler cap.
Jessa, great suggestion-never thought about that! I can tell you that empty quart oil containers with bottom cut out make AWESOME "female-pee STANDING UP" accessories, when you've taken a mixed company of folks out on a serious bird-watching trip WAY OUT in the boonies.
This just came up in my feed. I have been a huge fan of Project Farm for more than 3 years. What a superior quality channel! You have come along so far since the early times, but your dedication continues to shine through. We are lucky to have you as a great resource for testing products, tools, and garments!
Wow, sounds like a rebuilt engine! Thank you for such a thorough examination and lengthy test period, great combo of Lucas + Sea Foam. I never woulda thought this.
@@yeagermcbipper9008 the wear is still there- but the sludge causing the sticking is gone, allowing the hydraulic lash adjuster/lifter to do it's job better- which is to cushion the closing of the valve so that you dn't hear the clacking. The sludge and coke throughout the engine is reduced, allowing oil to get where it should go. It doesn't fix anything more than cleaning would- but it saves many neglected motors from the junk yard. The repair is not a repair- more a cleaning, and a lot of items are repaired by cleaning alone.
I have a jeep liberty with 200,000 miles it had a stuck valve and the lifter sounded worse than yours. I did the same 3 step and man what a difference I saved hundreds of dollars. I didn't have to rebuild the top end or sand the valves and redo it. So basically sea foam is a great amazing product.. this is a 2 year old video but thank you for sharing you're experience!!
My1991 Chevy half ton short bed Sat for a long time when my cousin couldn't get her to pass IM for the state. Pops picked it up and let It sit even longer then gave it to my sister. I bought it off her cause it has a crate with less than 7k on it and a brand new trans with a heavy dude clutch pack kit for towing, but the sitting had gummed up the throttle body injection. Ran a can of sea foam and followed up with a bottle of Lucas to re lube the piston rings (sea foam is ethanol based and so the Lucas oil is advisable afterwards) runs like a top now! Another good one is Marvel mystery oil, it works as a fuel and oil additive
@@kevintucker3354 ethanol dries out seals. If you use it too much they will crack and fail over time. Source: actual mechanics at the Chevy dealer I work for.
I used to sell these products at Pep Boys when it had a retail department. I was always told by those who know Lucas products and Seafoam were good. Nice to sea them in action and thanks for the education.
For these older vehicles it is recommended to also replace the oil pan plug with a magnetic one. Older engine's have more wear and are more vulnerable so adding a magnetic plug can save your engine by trapping metal pieces.
@@emceehamma3693 you would be wasting finances on a magnetic drain plug when you could invest in a higher quality oil filter, that again works better. If there are any metal chunks that big that somehow make it through your system, you have a MUCH bigger problem than just filtering oil lol The premise is that even if you have a fancy magnet, it won't fix the massive problem of metal fragments in your oil, that means somethings falling apart.
@@jetfire245 A magnetic drain plug isn't going to be some massive financial expense, and it is reusable. As well as anything it catches isn't going to end up in the filter, potentially allowing the filter to operate better. On an old truck, if you remove it and see bigger metal chunks, then it's essentially going to alert you that you have a big problem you have to address-no one with half a brain is going to install one with the hopes its going to actually fix anything.. The pros absolutely out weigh the cons here.
I'm an ASE Master Auto Tech 43 yrs. Seafoam is fantastic. Failed your emission test? I let it enter the MAIN vacuum system with a hose until the last third of the can and then stall the engine @ idle w/ the rest... Let it sit for 1/2 hour. Then hold it at 1500 RPM for 15 minutes. Cures Catalytic problems 90% of the time. Use Carb Clean to clean the throttle body with a rag and small screwdriver. (A tooth brush will melt) Yet, I Don't agree with the Lucus oil treatment. That's just putting off a problem that Will come back... Great video!
I use Seafoam in all of my vehicles. I add a can to about every five tanks of gas. I have a 2006 Honda Element with 140,000 miles on the clock. The emissions light used to come on quite often. Since I have been using Seafoam the emissions light rarely comes on. And the car runs great! I also use it in my two vintage Buicks and my 2012 Maxima. I get better mileage and smoother idle with every car that gets a can of Seafoam in the tank every so often.
wow i do not understand why i here so many talking about so many problems at so few miles i know 3 people that with ease got over 300k miles a one was a 86 ford 2.9l and i my self have a 06 nissan altuma and run 10w40 of what ever is on sale and cheep oil filter and change every 5k miles and every 10k miles new air filter and has 125k miles and still runs and sounds like a new car and i should get nothing less than 300k miles out of it with ease ye new struts at 100k and replaced wheel bearing and brake pads at 110k and they were original brake pads we got the car new so i know they were original pads
Well I guess that kind of depends on your point of view, but my two old Buicks are a 1956 Buick Special with a a Dynaflow and a 322 Nailhead V8. The other is a 1965 Buick Skylark sedan with a 4 barrel 300CID V8.
Stumbled across this vid by accident. Excellent work! Nice not to have annoying music or other such nonsense; just straightforward facts and proof of product claims right there in your face. I've gotten into arguments over the years with so-called experts who claim SeaFoam is nothing but snake oil. My dad, who was an NHRA record holder back in the early 70's, and did all of his own engine and set-ups, swore by this stuff. My real world first-person proof came when I bought an '84 F250 w/6.9 diesel. It was almost 15 years old then and had spent a lot of years sitting in a barn. Everyone said take it to a dealer or mechanic, needs a re-build, etc., etc. Being a cheapskate (LOL) I decided to put my old man's advice to the test. Dumped in a whole can and... WOW! Injectors and motor sounds told the story. What were once rough (really rough) starts, poor throttle response and crappy running became instant starts, crisp responsive throttle and smoooth as butter running - around town and out on the highway. Anyone who says SF is a "trick" is deluded. This stuff really almost is MAGIC in a can. I also have taken to using a few Lucas products over the past decade and their stuff is also spot-on as they claim. Like you suggested just try it first. Could make all the difference between an expensive rebuild... or just a few bucks. I use SeaFoam in ANYTHING that's got an engine: gas, diesel or 2-stroke. Old or new. Thanks for this video. Consider me subbed!
Wow. Just wow. I listened to your review and followed your exact steps on my 1988 Chevrolet Caprice 305 small block. My engine is a lot quieter, runs a bit smoother, and more powerful! I can squeal my tires! Never thought that was possible with this 32 year old car. Thanks for your honest review and bringing a bit of fun into my 88. Seafoam works.
Todd, you have progressed so far since this video. Thank you for all the test and evaluations over the years. I look forward to many more and all of your great information. You have helped me on many projects.
Asking for car advice at Auto zone is like asking for hardware advice at home Depot, you will get the opinion of someone who is working for minimum wage.
Jamie May wouldn’t trust advice from anyone at Auto Zone even if my life depended on it. None of their employees are even competent enough to even select the correct motor oil off the self
Wow! The before and after were remarkable. The transformation of this older engine after the use of these products is self evident. Very impressed and frankly surprised. Hope you'll do a follow-up in a year or a reasonable interval and let us know if the engine is still running as sweet as it was in this test. Again, very impressive results and clearly well documented.
10 million people watching a video about seafoam is honestly kind of insane in my opinion but great work. I have had many people say no to sea foam but my grandpa always stood behind it using it in everything he had I wanted to do my own research to see what it really does and this video really showed it thank you.
You deserve every single subscriber you have. Your vidoes are nothing but informative and educational to those of us who are trying to keep our mechanical symphonies in top condition. Greatly appreciate your videos!
I've seen this video 3 times in the last 5 years and it's still great, I want to try this as soon as I can get a truck. Thanks for the useful tips and helpful information
It’s neat that someone touches on seafoam, it’s something that we’ve always keep in the garage for any old motors. Also your videos are always fun and interesting, I enjoy them a lot.
Been using Seafoam in the gas tank for years now. I started to get a knock on my 06 4.7 Ram with 180K and I used the Seafoam spray and it cleared up the knock and It is idling better and feel like I gained some lost power back. Added to the oil the other day now time for a change. Thanks for your unbiased product testing.
When you added the seafoam in the gas tank did you have a half or full tank of gas? Another thing did you pour a whole can of seafoam in the old oil before a oil change and then let your truck run?
Hey Wade Harris Jr For the gas tank I’ve done everything from 1/4 to full tank. I know It is made for full tank but... The 1/4 tank was on a car that needed help for check engine light. For the oil change when I do it, I always add to a ready to change oil. I try to run a couple hundred miles before I change it.
That’s pretty incredible! I’m familiar with the Lucas product I put it in my cars and Trucks. I haven’t tried the sea foam yet but I’ve always heard good things about it. Your video tops any commercial they could possibly make. Thanks for sharing this! That ranger sounded a 100k miles newer by the end of the video. Hope she is still going strong for ya!
Anytime I need to buy anything, I always check out Project Farm's videos before I purchase! Kudos to you and your hard work and helping all your fans and viewers with their purchase decisions!
Hey, just wanted to thank you for taking the time to do all these tests. Many of us don't have the extra engines or money to buy all the products to test out so we know which ones are the best or even actually WORK so the information you are providing us is pretty invaluable. It would be great if you could do a video showing (definitively) all of the "best of the best" products in a -vs- contest so that we could all see who the number 1 products are in any given category. If I had a million $$ to fund towards real life testing to buy engines and products I would surely throw it your way and let you run with it :-)
I have a 1998 camaro. In the late spring of 2011 when I got speed up to about 55mph I had awful clacking sound. One would think engine was going to blow up. Of course I took it 4 reputable auto repair shops (one nationally recognized). I was told timing belt issues to lower crankshaft going out resulting in all of them suggesting new or rebuilt engine. During all this I told them that I thought sound had something to do lifters. Quickly got shot down. Unfortunately I think because I am female. Well guess what?!? I knew about Lucas gas treatment, so I went to advance auto and looked for oil treatment. Found Sea foam and with one treatment clacking/ticking sound noticeably less. After second treatment sound was gone. Seven years now , sea foam is part of oil changes. Thankfully , so far I haven't had to rebuild or get new engine.
Most mechanics are like surgeons. They think with their tools and replace worn or broken parts. Some choose homeopathic solutions. Big Pharma =Additive industry
I agree with the female comment. It happens to men too though. I was an ASE mechanic for 10 years and changed career paths, but I still do 95% of my own work. My wife hit a parking lot curb and broke the lower control arm. It being January with 30-degree highs and 6 inches of snow on the ground, I elected to have a local garage to handle it. Upon inspection, the CV joint on the FWD was found to be bad. They charged me to replace each individually which equaled double labor. I called the owner on this because to replace the one, the other had to be removed anyhow. He said that I should have told him that I was a mechanic and he wouldn't have ripped me off.
Another data point for the sea foam intake product: My GF has a CRV that had a persistent code (and accompanying check engine light) regarding the dynamic intake runner. It is vacuum actuated, and it wouldn't move to the high rpm configuration with just the engine running, but if you disconnected its vacuum hose and applied vacuum manually, it would turn (I verified this by stuffing a USB bore scope down the intake to look at it). Running one can of seafoam through the intake while manually actuating the intake runner adjustment, and it freed right up. Cleared engine codes, and it's been working fine for several thousand miles.
Haha. I guess you guys have to look my Green Devil 2001 Corolla with 180’000 miles on it. Just put some Cooper Winter Tires and black steel rims and God knows how mean that thing looks. I saw this guy with a brand new Dodge Durango SRT stearin at it yesterday. Lol. By the way I never wash outside of that car, that’s the spirit.
@@stevenhorsefield2909 probably just uses it around the farm. I only put 8k miles on my car every year. I never understood why people say driving low miles is bad... if you change your fluids at the severe schedule you will not have problems. Plus it means over time you wont need to buy a car as soon. Save probably 20k over 10 years. Inflation is taking care of the newer vehicles better gas mileage so that is irrelevant.
I am so glad I came upon this YT product tester. Being female, you have no idea how much this helps my life. My engine is acting up and I will be trying the exact same thing you did! Thanks so much!♥️
This video saved me thousands of dollars! My wife's Nissan Rogue was mistreated by the previous owner - 60,000 miles without an oil change! The car would smoke HEAVILY upon starting it up, billowing smoke! It also consumed 5 quarts of oil every month. The lifters were loud and acceleration was sluggish. A few different mechanics said we would need a new engine or at least a new cylinder head and valves etc. I remembered this video from years ago and gave Seafoam a shot just to see if it would do anything at all. My theory is that sludge and hard carbon had built up around the valve seats, allowing oil to drain into the cylinder and thus causing the smoke and oil consumption. After carefully follwing the instructions on the Seafoam Top Engine Cleaner and Lube, i can say there is no more smoke, and no more oil consumption! It's been 2 months since the treatment and my mind is still blown! You have saved my engine's life, at 140,000 miles it runs perfect now! Thank you for everything you do @ProjectFarm!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video and great tests. I use Seafoam regularly in all my vehicles. I once bought a Ninja that didn't run so I got it for a steal. I sprayed Seafoam in the carbs, got it to sputter then ran it hard while spraying it just like you did and it ran perfectly in about 4 mins. Miracle in a can! Thank you so much for no techno or rap music over the top as well.
Come across your videos a few times and just wanted to leave you a comment because they are really well made . No beating around the bush and great information , well done !
I just have to say how much I appreciate how in depth you go with all of your testing. I have been blown away by some of the results you have concluded in your many experiments. Keep up the great content!
Project Farm i ran a titanium based 5.0 fox with a 9600 rpm balance. it was NA and would rev nicely to about 5500 rpm then slowly to 7000 and rev limit shift. ran lucas with no other change in an 8 quart baffled pan. and bam it would scream to 7000 rpm ans shift. oil changes lasted to about 2000 km instead of 1200 km. spark plugs still cooked every time i hit WOT. lucas is legit. for performance.
I think, as is true with ALL oil, that the Lucas is probably fine as long as you change your oil regularly. Leave it in there for 15k and I'm sure it turns to sludge. Essentially it just thickens your oil. Add Lucas to 5W-30 and you probably end up with something with wear properties more like 15W-40. Obviously that's not exact science, but you get my point. I stopped using the Lucas and just switched to 10W-40 from 5W-30.
802 Garage i think it helps prevent blow by with its viscosity modification. it protects the cold start with its stickiness and prevents cavitation with its blend of petrochemicals. with the added advantage that the oil that is forced past the ring doesnt coke you up. its good for highly modified motors that are high revving. and old sloppy beat up motors. not for regular cars. i only notice a difference at very high RPM.
That sea foam work wonders, Thank you for the video, also Thanks for being so honest with the viewers, an not selling out for the money. You're a great man, keep the videos coming.
Years ago I started off on this channel with the video. Seeing your growth and the vast collection of video's you have made since this one, is a great feeling. Keep up the hard work man! Much love and many blessings.
Yep. We never had a single problem out of any of ours, but they whined like crazy. If the power steering pump on my 70's model Fords whined like that they were going out within the month. The 80's and 90's model units were loud.
I agree can’t believe people can dislike this video! They are probably just mad they don’t make a additive to help them get more battery power out of their Prius!
It is funny when some one makes a good video there always has to be a bunch of trolls who only get off with making poor and berating comments ,,again thanks for taking time to make a good educational video and maybe they will learn something then again maybe not but I applaud this video which is real good.
My wife's '94 Camry would smoke like crazy on startup. All information I could find on the subject pointed to valve guide seals being compromised by "gunking". The official solution was to uninstall the valve train, cams and all, and replace the seals (No thanks!) Instead I did the sea foam flush in the case then the Lucas oil stabilizer after the change. No more smoke! Even without adding the Lucas on subsequent oil changes. Seafoam and Lucas FTW!!
One of the absolute best reviews I’ve ever watched. You took the time to show each step as well as the before and after. The video speaks for itself. Great job!
I love seafoam. Problem for me and my 2 high milage engines is that in the oil it worked too good. As in it broke down my rtv sealant that ended up clogging the oil pick up. Anywho im mechanically inclined and fixed the issues. Love it in the fuel. I use ATF for my oil to clean up before a oil change
The unbiased reviews and transparent comparisons you do are always informative, concise, and entertaining! Without any BS! It's videos like this that will make your channel a million+ subscriber count channel in no time! I confidently predict it will happen by the end of this year(2019)! Wouldn't hitting the million subscriber count be a great way to usher in the year 2020! Indeed it would, my friend! Mark my words!
I just did this about two weeks ago to my zj with almost 240k on the 5.2L...while spraying through throttle body you need to hold rpms up 500-1000 higher than idle(it really makes a difference). after the hot soak start it up and take it out for a hard drive lots of pedal to the metal to help burn out all the carbon drive it for about a week change the oil and do a full tune up the damn thing purrs like a cat in heat now.....think I'm going to go drag race my brother in his newer Ford exploder. Hold my beer
This is pretty impressive! I always enjoy your videos and you unbiased testing methodology. I may have to try these products on our old 65 Mustang. Thanks for what you do!
Both products are amazing, but Lucas was always recommended to me and helped SO MUCH when my transmission was slipping. Ended up having to get a new transmission put in it anyway, but it at least gave me time to save for one. Great video my friend!
So I’m at an auto parts store today to pick up two more cans of Seafoam. The clerk asks me if I’m putting it in the gas or oil. I tell him that one is going in the gas tank and the other on my shelf so I don’t have to come back for more next time something in my stable needs some TLC. He says, “I’ve beed watching some great testing of Seafoam on a UA-cam channel by a guy who seems very honest and genuine, and I think that product is amazing.” Me: “You watching Project Farm, eh?” He laughs and confirms it. I’m so happy you stuck to your guns and haven’t accepted anything from Seafoam or other manufacturers. (But if they do come calling, give them my address and I’ll gladly share it with the Western Slope of the Rockies here in Colorado. Boy Scout honor. 😉)
We have been following you for 2 years. Love your episodes. We obviously do not get to everyone. But I loved this one and thought you did a great job. Thanks for the share. Funny story to add to this. We live in rural Iowa. Our mail gal showed up to deliver a package, she was driving an old jeep. Sounded just like your Ford. Passed along to her your episode and what to do. She thanks me and has wondered what it was and how to treat it. Again great job, appreciate what you do.
It's the best video ever, convincing me to try the same to my 06 Prius with 222k miles. Thank you PF very much for your unbiased test and great contribution to the truth of the fuel/oil additive field.
B12 Chemtool will disintegrate the crud on the throttle plate. Seafoam smells like ammonia or Windex to me. I don't remember the ingredients list or the MSDS list for Seafoam.
I commented on this video over 5 years ago (in my 30s) and wanted to make an update. I was turned on to SeaFoam around 2002 & have sung its praises ever since. I have saved many of my pals indefinite heartache & cash by running SeaFoam in fuel tanks & bottom ends. I am not affiliated with any automotive product in any way. with that stated, I have started to use Berryman B-12 (Chemtool) product in lieu of SeaFoam, due to the much lower price (40% less) & I’d love to see a Berryman vs. SeaFoam comparison done by our PF Hero here. good luck out there, guys.
For whatever reason they think that removing carbon buildup is pointless. They are only focused on the issue of ethanol in gas and being very dramatic about it
This is why people would give it a thumbs down. True story; so I decided to use some seafoam in my Husqvarna chainsaw because it just wasn't running right. It sure did blow the smoke out of it and sounded good. A day and a half of a cord of later the chainsaw seized. Seafoam killed it. .....until I took it to the dealer and he showed me the clear gasoline, with no two stroke oil, I had in the tank. "Impossible!!" I told him. Not impossible. Somehow I never put the oil in and ran at least 6 tank fulls of non mixed gas which killed my chainsaw. ....and while that sucks, I can admit when I suck. Thumbs up
Where can I get all 3 products. Everywhere I look I can only find the oil and spray Seafoam products. Can not find the fuel addition. either of you have a link to the three? Thanks
@@jamespage929 the pour bottle is the kind you put in the gas tank or crankcase. You can even use the pour kind thru the brake booster hose to do it thru the intake. But the spray is alot easier to use on the intake
I’ve been using SeaFoam in all my cars in a tank of gas after every oil change. Works great. I’ve heard it doesn’t help direct injection cars as much but I still think it works well
RaiderNationz, 487,000 miles--very impressive! My wife drives a Suburban that has 180,000 miles. I'm hoping it'll run for at least 250,000 miles. It's in very good condition and has been very well maintained. So, it should easily last that long. Thank you for watching the video and commenting!
I have watched this video a few times. You have evolved so much since this video. You are probably one of the most trusted UA-camrs out there. You seem like one of your many of your viewers and you have kept true to your mission and purpose. You are appreciated!
Sorry it's taken me so long to post the links to the products I've used below. Also, here's the link to the update video on the Ford Ranger: m.ua-cam.com/video/prXiQgVVnDY/v-deo.html
Products Tested In This Video (in no particular order):
Seafoam: amzn.to/3l5XjLY
Seafoam Spray: amzn.to/3aJptI5
Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer: amzn.to/2FOENb7
You should have cleaned that blackened T'Body until it is like new. the back of the plate you sprayed is worse than the front; sidewall should be cleaned. It will idle like new. also clean the idle air solenoid or replace it!
So, after 3 years, how is the truck running now? Any of the old issues resurface?
Used Techron, its better than seafoam into the carb.
Aah it's only been like 3 years, no big deal
Can you please provide an update? Did seafoam correct an issue caused by deposits or is it more of a Band-aid?

Yeah, Seafoam and Lucas are good, so is Marvel Mystery oil also.
there's a slight knock from somewhere in the everything with those 6.0's.
I've this stuff on old boat motors and my old work trucks. Love it.
I always fill the filter on my 7.3 IDI with additive when replacing it too.

@@IM1LDSRU2 At 311k niles you might just not want to try these products.
Possibly

Very impressive results! Thanks for sharing this experience!
Compression release..... on a late 80's Honda?....... You couldn't kick over a late 80's Honda?....... Bullshit!

Thank you for this recommendation.
What is it that makes you laugh out loud about your comment?

He didn't fix anything. The wear and damage from the sticking lifter has been done. This 'repair' is not gonna last.

For these older vehicles it is recommended to also replace the oil pan plug with a magnetic one. Older engine's have more wear and are more vulnerable so adding a magnetic plug can save your engine by trapping metal pieces.
Thanks for the feedback.
The magnet is redundant when you have an oil filter. The filter is capable of separating matter much smaller than metal particles.
@@jetfire245 I fully agree, but Redundancies can only help, not hurt...
@@emceehamma3693 you would be wasting finances on a magnetic drain plug when you could invest in a higher quality oil filter, that again works better. If there are any metal chunks that big that somehow make it through your system, you have a MUCH bigger problem than just filtering oil lol
The premise is that even if you have a fancy magnet, it won't fix the massive problem of metal fragments in your oil, that means somethings falling apart.
@@jetfire245 A magnetic drain plug isn't going to be some massive financial expense, and it is reusable. As well as anything it catches isn't going to end up in the filter, potentially allowing the filter to operate better. On an old truck, if you remove it and see bigger metal chunks, then it's essentially going to alert you that you have a big problem you have to address-no one with half a brain is going to install one with the hopes its going to actually fix anything.. wow i do not understand why i here so many talking about so many problems at so few miles
i know 3 people that with ease got over 300k miles a one was a 86 ford 2.9l and i my self have a 06 nissan altuma and run 10w40 of what ever is on sale and cheep oil filter and change every 5k miles and every 10k miles new air filter and has 125k miles and still runs and sounds like a new car and i should get nothing less than 300k miles out of it with ease
ye new struts at 100k and replaced wheel bearing and brake pads at 110k and they were original brake pads we got the car new so i know they were original pads
Mullay2 at what year is a Buick vintage?
Well I guess that kind of depends on your point of view, but my two old Buicks are a 1956 Buick Special with a a Dynaflow and a 322 Nailhead V8. The other is a 1965 Buick Skylark sedan with a 4 barrel 300CID V8.
Mullay2 mm
Since I have a FlexFuel vehicle I just run a tank of E85 once a month to keep it clean.
Thanks! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Wow.
You are welcome! Thanks for sharing.
Todd, you have progressed so far since this video. Thank you for all the test and evaluations over the years. I look forward to many more and all of your great information. You have helped me on many projects.
Thanks and you are welcome!
I dont even ask for advice anymore at the local Autozone. Instead I give them my advice, which is your UA-cam channel. Great job!
Thank you!
Asking for car advice at Auto zone is like asking for hardware advice at home Depot, you will get the opinion of someone who is working for minimum wage.
Justin Kasey They make more than minimum wage, but I see your point. Lol
Jamie May wouldn’t trust advice from anyone at Auto Zone even if my life depended on it. None of their employees are even competent enough to even select the correct motor oil off the self
Jamie May I’m guilty of the same thing. After a couple of years of watching Project Farm’s videos, I am a certified auto technician.
This has to be one of your first videos, congratulations on how successful you’ve become! My favorite channel!
Wow, thank you!
You deserve every single subscriber you have. Your vidoes are nothing but informative and educational to those of us who are trying to keep our mechanical symphonies in top condition. Greatly appreciate your videos!
Thank you so much 😀
I've seen this video 3 times in the last 5 years and it's still great, I want to try this as soon as I can get a truck. Thanks for the useful tips and helpful information
Thanks and you are welcome!
I have done the exact same lol easily my favorite yt content
@@Clutchkicker5.9 you did to a vehicle? I want to try on a 2nd gen ranger but I really don’t wanna make it worse or break anything
My father had a 94 4.0 ranger that he put 600k on it, it was a standard that he had to redo the cluch a few times and wheel hubs but that was it.
If you need this when you're getting a truck, you got the wrong truck!
Wow I am sold. Thanks for being the Guinea pig on so many products I have been hesitant to try...you are such a big help.
You are so welcome!
I love Seafoam, I gurgle it everyday and my colesterol it’s been fine since.
lol Thanks for watching.
Project Farm how no likes
ROTFLMAO! It's good as a laxative also.
Make sure and drink some hand sanitizer to keep from getting coronavirus 😆
Brys Cheek 😂
I knew a guy who was addicted to drinking brake fluid.
He said he could stop anytime he wanted! ;)
dammit... lol you got me
Hahahaha good one!
not gonna like, he had me in the first half

Now thats funny
It’s neat that someone touches on seafoam, it’s something that we’ve always keep in the garage for any old motors. Also your videos are always fun and interesting, I enjoy them a lot.
Old mechanix tric for Sticking or 🎉🎉. noisy valve lifter a quart of automatic transmission oil on the motor for 100 milles Do the job righ
When you first started it sounded like a sewing machine, It does sound smoother.
Thanks for watching!
Impressive results! Thank you
When you added the seafoam in the gas tank did you have a half or full tank of gas? Another thing did you pour a whole can of seafoam in the old oil before a oil change and then let your truck run?
Hey Wade Harris Jr For the gas tank I’ve done everything from 1/4 to full tank. I know It is made for full tank but... The 1/4 tank was on a car that needed help for check engine light.
For the oil change when I do it, I always add to a ready to change oil. I try to run a couple hundred miles before I change it.
Before adding Seafoam, the truck sounds like a smooth running diesel. LOL.😀
lol. Great point!
Yeah, I didn't realize it was regular gasolene until we heard the difference after the Seafoam.
@L E 😲
@@LeonCoretz same, thought it was a diesel at first
Just sounded like a typical ford to me 🤣😂
That’s pretty incredible!
Thanks and you are welcome!
If I had a million $$ to fund towards real life testing to buy engines and products I would surely throw it your way and let you run with it :-)
Thank you for the feedback
What
I have a 1998 camaro.
Impressive! Glad you solved this on your own!
So u add sea foam to the oil or the gas regularly??
Ellen Mabe coming from a women i pay attention. Could u pkease expmain how u used the seafoam!? If an email its easier please ask me for it. Thank you
It's awesome to see how far Todd has come. Great content, but his newer stuff is pure gold! Really informative entertainment!
Thanks so much!
who's Tod?
Thanks for sharing.
167,000 miles and it looks like it's been to hell at least 3 times and back.
Thats a working man's truck. The engine needs mounts bad
Haha. I guess you guys have to look my Green Devil 2001 Corolla with 180’000 miles on it. Just put some Cooper Winter Tires and black steel rims and God knows how mean that thing looks. I saw this guy with a brand new Dodge Durango SRT stearin at it yesterday. Lol. By the way I never wash outside of that car, that’s the spirit.
in the Zone I got 267000 miles out of my 1.8 Ltr VW engine no noise not using 1 pint in 10000 miles AND VW do not recommend any of this stuff
That's low mileage on that truck.
Thanks so much!♥️
You are welcome!
Todd is always clear & completely understandable. A skilled communicator. Bet he is a super nice fella to actually know.
I hope you never stop making these videos and we all appreciate the legitimacy of your videos and the work you put in!

Pretty impressive. I knew Lucas was an amazing product but I didn't know you could do so much with seafoam. Thanks for sharing, very informative.
Thank you!
_I'm 52 and by the description, it sounds like I need to take a couple of swigs of that Lucas. 0.o_
Best comment on youtube. How does this not have more likes?
Wonder you've lived this long!
You are welcome! Glad to hear!
Thanks and you are welcome!
Come across your videos a few times and just wanted to leave you a comment because they are really well made . No beating around the bush and great information , well done !
Awesome! Thank you!
Holy cow! You are my all time favorite video maker on UA-cam!! Very well done and non bias, I salute you project farm!!
I just have to say how much I appreciate how in depth you go with all of your testing. I have been blown away by some of the results you have concluded in your many experiments. Keep up the great content!
Thanks, will do!
Don't worry about the Lucas. I've opened up dozens of engines that get it every oil change. No sludge.
135hogeye, Glad to hear this! Some of the other comments caused some concern. Hope you enjoy the weekend!
Yeah that all sounds about right to me. If you are doing 5 mile commutes, definitely not the right product.
This guy is so good in testing stuff its so good for us the consumers !!!! Well done !!!
Thank you very much!
That sea foam work wonders, Thank you for the video, also Thanks for being so honest with the viewers, an not selling out for the money. You're a great man, keep the videos coming.

Now that the engine is quieter you can really hear that Ford power steering pump.
Lol
/almost every car I've owned has been a Ford product
Great point! Yes, it a whiner
Lol if your engine is louder than the steering pump its got a problem
Yep.
We never had a single problem out of any of ours, but they whined like crazy.
If the power steering pump on my 70's model Fords whined like that they were going out within the month.
The 80's and 90's model units were loud.
That’s the supercharger
I used to have a 76 Comet sedan that I got given to me lol
It's amazing that 1.5k people dislike this. I just don't get it. Thank you Project Farm!
Thank you for the positive comment!
hertzer2000 yep a lot of dumb people out there these videos are awsome.
They Are probably all mechanics hating

Seeing is believing. It clearly worked.
It is a temporary fix that worked.
My wife's '94 Camry would smoke like crazy on startup. All information I could find on the subject pointed to valve guide seals being compromised by "gunking".
The official solution was to uninstall the valve train, cams and all, and replace the seals (No thanks!)
Instead I did the sea foam flush in the case then the Lucas oil stabilizer after the change.
No more smoke! Even without adding the Lucas on subsequent oil changes.
Seafoam and Lucas FTW!!
Thank you
One of the absolute best reviews I’ve ever watched. You took the time to show each step as well as the before and after. The video speaks for itself. Great job!
Thank you!
lol Thanks for sharing.

There used to be a warning label saying NOT to clean the intake. Is this still true or am I dreaming again...???
Bill Michael probably thinking of the MAF sensor.
...and a can of carb and choke cleaner.
Thanks for the video idea.
Just realized I watched this vid years ago, I got into his channel recently and then just found this. Love this channel

Why would anyone put a thumbs down on a video like this ,maybe a ridiculous troll would.
thanks for your time making this video .
They do it so folks like you will whine that someone put a mean ole thumbs down in the video i likey...Who cares..Enjoy the video..Geez
Waaahhh Get a life..
For whatever reason they think that removing carbon buildup is pointless. They are only focused on the issue of ethanol in gas and being very dramatic about it
I tried it and I could not tell if it did anything but that doesn't mean anything because my problem ended up being something seafome would not help.
Thumbs up
I was having the same problem s that you had so I tried the Seafoam treatment. I could not be happier. The truck runs like new.
Awesome! Thank you
Where can I get all 3 products.
