Irene was phenomenal in the 80's, an everlasting inspiration. She made us New Yorkers proud as hell when we were teens and in our early twenties when Fame came out. I remember Fame being explosive along with Saturday Night Fever. It was a good time for young New Yorkers,, and we danced our asses off every Friday and Saturday night in the clubs.Thank you for giving us so much life through your talents Irene Cara. Rest in Peace. 🙏🙏🙏
In the early 1980s I (born 1975) lived in Connecticut where everything from NYC hit us literally over night. Irene Cara was practically worshipped in the early 1980s. I watched Sparkle and Fame on VHS and loved'em. Irene Cara was warm, modest, and appreciative. Today's Pop stars are narcissistic and promote sociopathy, especially the rappers.
Irene Cara was... SPECTACULAR. Over many years I'd looked her up online, to see what she was upto, so I watched many performances. She was always beautiful!
Stop the "power" and "queen" modern feminist memes. Irene was a beautiful, femine, talented, latin american artist who knew how to be a traditional woman while inspiring others and rising to the top of her trade. RIP Irene.
Such sad news... The wonderful Irene Cara was such a huge influence and inspiration for so many of us so many people and artists. She inspired young people to become artists. Our deepest gratitude to this amazing Artist Woman ! Our condolences to her family and friends. Rest In Peace and Power now you sing and dance in the light. See less Carole Alexis 1m
Loved her when I was growing up. It was such a shame that her struggles with a lawsuit over her royalties kept her out of the limelight for so long. She still looks and sounds great. A class act.
I looooooove thiiiiiisssss!!!! Yaaaaaassssss Irene!!!! THIS is what I've been talking about with music; gettin' back to the roots, the instruments, the REAL talent and not superficial oversexualized gimmicks. Her and I would've gotten along fabulously👌🏽🥰😘.
Irene Cara was my favourite pop artist when I was a teenager. I'm really impressed with what she's doing now. And she's still so beautiful. She looks so young!
I give kudos to Irene, for all of her multi-dimensional talent, she remains a humble artist that's down to earth, this is an exceptional quality to be admired.
Irene Cara seems like a really nice person. I wish I had an opportunity to meet her when she was alive. For that I would have had to spend half my life in U.S. to get those kind of opportunities. R.I.P. she was a great performing artist.
Willing and loving aren't the same. When people let's its real own living, everything go on. And every one gonna live for ever. What a feeling! Thanks #IreneCara #ILYAFE.
I agree, there were some poor career choices, especially in some of the onscreen roles that she took. But as far as her music went she was mismanaged and manipulated. There are no guarantees in life, I'm just happy to see Irene doing what she loves.
GOOD MOVIE ROLES WERE NOT BEING OFFERED TO HER BECAUSE OF BEING BLACKLISTED SO SHE HAD TO TAKE ROLES THAT HELPED PAY THE BILLS SOMETIMES. IRENE WAS ALWAYS INTO ROLE THAT HAD CREATIVE STRENGTH TO THEM AS WELL. @@darrjon67
RIP Irene Cara, thank you for all of your awesome contributions to the Arts & Music Industry! You were an amazing talent & a beautiful soul, you will be missed but your beautiful legacy lives on.💗🎶🙏🏽
I have gone back to my school days of flashdance, and after three decades i am still enjoying it. Hot caramel please make more like 80's once again. God bless cara.
If I am not mistaken she was around 50 yo at the time of that interview, she was looking absolutely amazing if not better than ever, rest in peace little star ❤❤❤
Full interview please? She’s was one of a kind. Very Beautiful and talented. The music industry big shots really screwed her from stardom longevity. Sucks!! Hope she had a blast in life anyway and continues to do so.
I always try to look, dance and hope I could sing like you, it was back in early eighties and I still feeling that way♥️. Dancing became to be a big part of my life♥️. Thanks for all you giving us Irene.♥️🕊💔🕯🙏🏼♥️ Forever in my heart♥️
She was so modest and lovely. Fame and her music were an integral part in my life as a 16 year old in NYC and my dream of being an actor high school. I knew that NYC well. XOXO
I've heard of her when I was a depressed teenager struggling in High school during the mid eighties. She disappeared from the limelight during the 90's and so on. Imagine thirty five years later . She's back.
Miilicent Cusumano I would love to thank you for singing to my mother when she had Cancer Mattie Cusumano, I will never ever forget that for the rest of my life, You are now and was then a fany\tastic singer and a fantastic and caring lady. So happy for your new band.

Happy BIRTHDAY Irene, we were in the same class in the Bronx 1st grade.
after all these years I've had a crush on her. she's still my BABY. RIP my LOVE.
RIP Irene and thank you for being a fond memory from my youth.
I loved her in the starring role in "Sparkle" in 1976!
I don't know that one. It sounds intriguing. Have you seen the b and w film of Irene Cara singing as a little girl?
I respect her to the fullest. Actual music, and talent, she played the piano and sang. No auto-tune no computers no mimicry just talent.
Loved her when I was growing up. It was such a shame that her struggles with a lawsuit over her royalties kept her out of the limelight for so long. She still looks and sounds great. A class act.
She must have been so exhausted after that lawsuit which she WON.
YES, SHE ADMITSTHAT.
