Aaron is lying. And as Scientologists would speak he's giving non-answers. He's been involved with Scientology for atleast 20 years. He worked as a paid staffer at Scientology's San Franscisco organization for more than a decade and he was on full time day staff for over 15 years. He joined staff after training as a public for two years. His first staff contract is from 2004. He trained as a supervisor at flag for two and a half years, and then eventually passed the supervisor test by recovering 30 students and then training them. (this is from Tony Ortega's Scientology website).
The information is out there online, and he is now the head of Scientology in SF. Just for lying like that I had to unsub from Braille. like...wow.

this is a tricky one though to be honest. if he just starts having people on to grill them it might be hard to get guests. it would leave people wondering if they are next to be roasted or not. to be honest it could lead to some really great skate journalism it doesnt have to be aggressive. but i feel like lamont take a more nonchalant approach. for example none of the scientologists will talk to GH because they know he would spell out how fucked up everything is.

Scientology exists for the sole purpose of recruiting members, and then controlling every aspect of their members lives as a means to extract the maximum amount of wealth from them.

too be honest, pretty hard to actually ask confrontational, hard hitting questions when you're talking to someone like that if you're not a trained interviewer. And it can be hard even if you are.

As a good little scientologist. His bs about poppies growing bigger than others, and that's what's causing the hate for scientology?
Should have gotten a response question if he's aware of that people know what scientology is about? That people get roped in with communication 'courses', and that they are consequently blackmailed into staying (and giving the 'church' more and more money), with confidential information that came up during a 'confessional'. And that people who criticize it are sued into oblivion.
That's why people hate scientology, and that's what Aaron should have been asked.
But it's much easier to just nod along, and not seek that confrontation.

The thing about people that belong to cults is that they genuinely don't believe they are in a cult. Dodging questions like this becomes second nature after a while, and his prominent position in the organisation definitely gives him an incentive to speak about it in a positive light. I have no doubt that being a member of the Church of Scientology has helped him with his business ventures, but there is definitely a darker side to the organisation that he likely doesn't have much personal experience with due to his loyalty and support.
