  • Well, another tyrannosaurid from PNSO as expected, but what a choice! This is Albertosaurus, the namesake of the albertosaurine clade, and one that I have wanted for a very long time. And here PNSO gives it to us.
    This is a special model, adding a very important member to the entire tyrannosaur line, and the level of sculpting quality of course, honours that. What’s even more special is the pose. This is one dynamic running pose that is really cool to look at, and even more, capable of self standing without external support. Of course, you need the stand longterm, but just being able to manage it is a shock.
    The characteristic proportions are there, with perhaps a tiny question about the head, but in general this is Albertosaurus as I imagine it, and I’m happy to add to the family!

    One of my fav dinosaurs as a Canadian. In grade one, I had a friend that also loved dinos as much as me, he moved to Alberta, but we stayed friends as pen pals. We mostly just sent each other pictures we drew of dinosaurs and I sent him a huge drawing I did from fossils of Albertasaurus and have loved Albertasaurus ever since.

    Still giving the tyrannosaurids a humdrum “everyone got the same memo on brown striped shirt day” paint scheme, BUT! This is an Albertosaurus I’ve been waiting for. The sculpt and pose come together giving us a really exciting figure. This is a must have. Thanks for another great review.
    But, please let PNSO that it’s really okay to do sauropods again.
    I won’t get upset or anything….

      @@DinosDragons Yes! I’ve seen the Gorgosaurus images and, actually, the paint scheme they appear to be going with is very attractive in its differentiation of blending and stripe angling. And, as is usually the case, the sculpt looks pretty good. If I find the right brown striped Hawaiian shirt, I might have to buy it to blend in with my theropod collection in case of emergencies…

  • @Faelrin
    @Faelrin Рік тому +1

    I think I do prefer the Safari Ltd model over this one, for two reasons. The brighter coloration is just more appealing to me, then the drab coloration on PNSO's figure (striping aside), and the Safari Ltd one also has lips, which is in line with the recent paper in favor of tyrannosaurs having them. I think if the green was brighter, it would give it a better shelf presence, due to its smaller size. That said the PNSO figure has a more interesting pose, not often seen on theropod figures, and a bit more display options with the articulated jaw, and of course sharper detail compared to Safari Ltd's (that's because of child safety measures blunting certain aspects of it). The Safari Ltd one though is also cheaper. In any case I always appreciate your thorough reviews on these figures, including aspects of the anatomy, etc. I am hoping they do Gorgosaurus as well, and then hopefully something different after that.
    I also noticed that all of PNSO's models are seemingly unavailable on their Amazon store at the moment. At least Aliexpress is still an option, if not other retailers, but I wonder why?

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  11 місяців тому

      I'm glad to see an example of different strokes for different folks being played out here! 😁 I really disliked the paint scheme of the Safari, thinking that would be appropriate for a much smaller lizard/ gecko type creature, or perhaps an amphibian, but not a large size predator. Lips are of course a big plus. I do think PNSO could make their teeth a little shorter to avoid the 'slippage look'.
      By now you've seen the Gorgosaurus, and I think we can agree that what PNSO lacks in colour palette they make up for in almost everything else.
      Can't say I know anything about the online options however. I obviously get them straight from PNSO or a Chinese supplier I know. I do think however that it will not be long before they restock their Amazon store! They know not to pass up an opportunity with an important market! 😁

    While the head is a little off, lacks lips, and the tail being too thin this figure is still excellent. Specifically the highly dynamic pose is incredible, and I could very well see many (myself included) getting it just to see this exquisite display. Overall another quality release from PNSO, with minor nitpicks that should be easy to correct with some modelling putty.

    Sin lugar a dudas, además de lo bien trabajada que está la piel del animal, que en mi opinión ha sido la gran mejora que han efectuado en PNSO con sus últimos productos, el punto importante es la estabilidad. Apenas tiene base de sustentación y, pese a ello, se mantiene muy bien y le da una elegancia muy superior. Ya como detalle "criticable" es la sensación de un cráneo más alargado de lo esperado. Similar a lo que se hizo con Torvosaurus anteriormente. Sin embargo, es una gran figura. Uno más para la familia 👏🏼

      ¡Gracias por tu conocimiento! En realidad, no sé mucho sobre terópodos. ¡Excepto el Tyrannosaurus, con el que estoy muy familiarizado!
      Como dices, la estabilidad de esto es asombrosa. Y HLG utiliza material más duro para las piernas. Por lo tanto, es menos probable que se deformen con el calor.

    now this model is truly magnificent and its a perfect restoration, definitely getting this one
    the head of albertosaurus indeed has such low snout, you can see that in some more recent albertosaurus skull restorations like Liam Power
    but i gotta say i love how they added extra keratin layer resulting in these taller bumps on the snout, it really gives character to it making it look like a specific individual i also love the pose because its very dynamic but not ridiculous either and for the color although it is similar to what we have seen in the past there are still slight differences so as always i consider it convergent evolution similar but not perfect copy of other species occupying same environment
    for the future releases we will get another one tyrannosaurid, there was a leaked photo long time ago showing the mold of this albertosaurus next to a suspicious yellow mold that nobody was able to guess what it was it had similar size to the albertosaurus so im excited for that one, i hope its a very underrepresented species like thanatotheristes or teratophoneus

    Hello, Dino Dragon's, how long it has been, now that I see this pnso figure I have to say that the truth is that they did all the detail very well and they focused very well on the texturing as well as the pose, only that I feel that the pose is too unstable in my opinion it scares me but I hope it can be maintained after having the post, now what I see is that pnso with this release is so good I hope they focus on herbivores since we haven't seen any for a long time herbivorous since the last releases of last year.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your comment! I would say that PNSO models are generally very well-balanced. The only problem is the material they use warps very quickly especially in warmed temperatures. So no matter how stable it is, you have to use the stand, and for me I also use some Blu-tack to lend stability in different directions.
