I know so many people who gym it up but eat the same and stop when no weight comes off. I ask them have they changed there eating..."No I love food" was one response I got.
True that. You can exercise all you want, if you don't give your body the healthy stuff it needs, you'll end up getting sick and mess up your metabolism. That's why all those "I love fast food but I exercise and therefore I'm healthy and skinny"-people annoy the f outta me. It might be true if stepping on a scale but they are slowly ruining their health. 😱 They would certainly not put crap and toothpaste in their gas tanks and expect their vehicles to run smoothly for the next 10k kilometers, either.
@Golden Goose That might be true, the body is extremely adaptable so it has no negative consequences for a certain amount of time. But you can't eat shitty for years on and expect to stay perfectly healthy. It's the same with smoking or drugs. Your body can handle it for quite some time but in the end it will be devastating and the damage might be permanent.
@Golden Goose I would assume whatever you were eating as far as calories were burned off with the ridiculous amount of energy you exerted. But for the average person they are not going to do that extreme activity on a daily basis. I think swimmers eat high calories...but they exert a ton of energy daily.
I gained over 20lbs of fat just to take this thumbnail for you guys… So show me some love in return by giving the like and leaving a comment below as to what you’d like to see me cover next! Haha, hope you enjoyed this one!
It's been 3 months since i started, i've lost 46lbs and i'm still continuing. I went from 205lbs to 159lbs. This last month has been especially slow, but i won't quit. I'm going to achieve my goal once and for all. It just needs some patience.
thats because you reached the weight lost plateau. its the limit where your body loses all fat in the body so you need to workout or eat even less to burn the fats around the muscles
When it comes to weight and fat loss, diet is Batman, exercise is Robin. Sure it’s nice to have Robin around, but without Batman, Robin is gonna get captured and beaten to death by Joker.
I was struggling to lose weight for a very long time. I was working out but I also love to eat. At one point I was thinking that I was going to be fat for the rest of my life until I started eating properly. Good diet is a key. Obviously I had no clue what to eat and how much. I had to invest in meal plan from Next Level Diet. It wasnt expensive and helped me start losing weight and eat properly. Now Im thinking about getting personal fitness coach to help me learn how to plan and do exercises properly.
these diets work to a certin extend, but as soon as you go back to your normal eating habits, you put on weight again. To permanently loose weight you need a change of livestyle, not a diet
@@maxlee6676 the real killer is actually the copious amounts of oil and sugar. A deadly combo. One or the other, depending on diet, would work fine. But they dump tons of both in. Look at labels, first ingredient is usually oil, even in a "vinegarette" dressing. It is shameful.
@@yandareshwty a general rule that works really well is if you don't know personally what all the food is made up of then avoid it. A good example is bread, if you don't know or understand every step in the process of making it (yeast, flower, water, Something else?) But where does that yeast come from how do they get it how is the flower processed. The simpler (more basic) your food is most often times the better. I love devouring food so i do one meal a day and eat 1660-1780 calories a day, very easy to track since i consume zero calories before or after my meal and know exactly how much i am getting in that 30 minute eating window. Another good tip is make your body wait a few hours after working out so it has time to rest and relize it is or isn't as hungry as it thought it was when it was screaming out for energy consumption after a hard workout. i used to weigh 250 something and now stay in the 165 to 170 range, so i know the struggles of "diet" and the like. Whatever you end up doing make sure its a life change and not a temporary thing or it will never last (fallen into that trap a time or 2). Good luck!
Most common issue is hunger dude. You can try to manage your calorie intake all you want, but after lifting heavy you just don't feel well until you eat half the planet.
its perfectly fine to feel hungry here and there. Especially if you're just adjusting your body to a lower caloric intake. Hunger is a mind game and your mind can still be a fat fuck until you train it.
The nextinline OMAD fasting works good for me. I’ve been doing it for 2 weeks. My start weight was 302 and I’m down to 290 already. Black coffee or green tea suppresses hunger and you’ll feel good after a few days of fasting and eating one meal a day
I've been exercising weekly for the last few months, I can feel myself getting stronger, but the fat is not budging at all! My belly fat is the same like it always was. I'm definitely underestimating my calorie intake, even though I'm making healthy meals, I tend to snack a lot fruits and nuts, or order what seems to be healthy take outs. I need to stick with my calorie counting.
Foods can be healthy but still be calorie dense. And eating too much of healthy calorie dense foods can put you out of a calorie deficit thereby stopping you from losing fat. A great example is nuts or bananas. While they are healthy they are still calorie dense foods that you can easily over eat . So that’s why you have to count your calories and make sure what you’re eating fits ur calorie defecit. A better option is to choose foods which are nutrient dense yet low in calories like spinach for example or eggs.
yeah, calorie deficits take a lot of getting used to. You will know you're at a deficit when you've eaten a relatively acceptable amount of macros but you're STARVING. That my friend is your body craving carbs, salt, and sugar. But, you will also realize the deficit is working when you eventually get used to the feeling. After a few weeks, you're used to it. A piece of gum suffices, or even an apple. For me, before bedtime hunger was the enemy. I would eat the shit out of healthy food even, just wrecking my progress. Like, upwards of 800 calories (2 protein bars and a peanut butter sandwich. All natural ingredients too.) My point is, yes, calorie deficit is a no bullshit lifestyle. You'll know when you're doing it. It's brutal at first.
@@rommelwolf9754 It's because that's stubborn fat, love handles and belly fat are usually the last spot where men lose fat, don't give up eventually you will get rid of It!
Tip: DONT DRINK YOUR CALORIES. What i mean by that is that you shouldn’t drink stuff with lots of calories in it because it doesn’t make you feel full, so you will need to eat to feel full. And that’s how you take in too much calories.
@Josephus Hinneh just don't drink Juice or light drinks at all. Stick with water, coffee, green&black tea and once a few days u could have some low calorie energy drink
Stuff like this reassures me that I’m doing fine. 2 months ago I could barely do 5 push-ups and 2 pull-ups. Now I can do 20 and 10. The scale says I haven’t changed weight and visually I don’t notice any differences, but I’m getting stronger. So I figure I‘m just going through a body recomposition since I haven’t really done anything in 5 years
This is exactly me, so glad to see someone else experiencing the same thing. My weight hasn't changed and I don't see any difference, but I can now do regular push-ups for 30 seconds when I could barely do a couple of kneeling push ups when I started.
@@VyoIce no it does not. What you are essentially saying is that a pound of bricks is heavier than a pound of cotton. The fact actually is that muscle is more dense than fat.
@@kanishkrana9426 he implied that the same size of muscle will weigh more than the same dize of fat due to the density... Take the stick out of ur ass pal
@@kanishkrana9426 And you're basically saying ''A brick is not objectively heavier than cotton'' by telling him he's wrong. eat really slow after a workout .. you will get full with less.. -this is the best tip that I have found to control hunger... Strangely for me I don't feel hungry after workouts. I feel full and around an hour after the workout I feel really hungry..
Been figuratively banging my head against the wall about lack of weight loss for more than a year-starting and stopping diets and workout programs. You're right, I just need to track calorie intake and expenditure more accurately and consistently and look at long-term rather than short-term progress.
that graph of the downward trend of your weight made me feel so much calmer. i’m working out religiously everyday, weighing my food on a scale, tracking everything down to macros, and weighing myself daily at the same time everyday. i keep getting 1-2lb spikes and it makes me feel defeated, but being reassured that it’s normal has calmed my sad mind.
Those spikes are really annoying. One day you're down 1kg, the other day you're up 1.5kg. Then down again, up again. It gets annoying to differentiate between actual and water weight.
@@kailapowell5500 I do exactly what the person above has been doing, and yes i weigh everyday at the same time(after waking up, after peeing and before drinking water and eating). I have the exact same results, spikes all the time.
It absolutely sucks for me when after working out and eating healthy for months and still weighing pretty much the same. Especially seeing people lose weight faster doing half the work and not being as strict with food
When I first cut back I was SO hungry. After a bit though I didn’t miss the extra calories. I ended up losing an average of 1 lb a week. That was ok for me. Many ppl lose a lot faster but I’m down 25 lbs. I wanted to lose weight to be able to have more energy with my kids.

This definitely remotivated me ! Been working out consistently for 4 weeks but only went from 178 to 175.8 lbs. Probably going through recomposition since I can see big changes in my progress pictures. But I'll also be more mindful to track my intake consistently
I have been trying for years to lose some fat. It was really hard. Intermittent fasting was one of the hardest things I tried to do in my life. You need so much mental strength to go through day while fasting. I am currently experimenting with Nextlevel Diet and it has been working super great for me. I could recommend it to everyone, especially beginners.
I watched this video a year ago, after many failed diets and multiple workout programs breaking it down into easy trackable steps has been the key to success, currently down 30lbs and healthier than ever. Great advice!
The Knightwalker lol I do, I struggle to eat 2200 calories which is bulking for me considering I’m pretty short, have a desk job, and don’t do cardio. I’ve been stuck at 155 for a few months now and can’t go past that. 2200 is already hard for me that dinner I’m basically shoving down my throat. Loosening fat for me is pretty easy, bulking is the hardest. I’ve stopped gaining weight 😭

How I lost fat: 800 to 1200 calories per day, six mile runs 5 days a week for 3 months. 200 to 155, Size 38 waist to size 31. It was hell, but it was worth it.
Well but eating 800-1200 calories a day is not healthy at all. And then on top running 6 miles for 5 days a week and still just eating those amounts of calories is dangerously low. I mean yeah you lost a lot of weight this way but it isnt sustainable or healthy at all. Moderate calorie loss is much better for really keeping the weight after losing it and to provide a jojo effect. So congrats on getting to your goal but keep the things i just said in mind
@@Hafensaenger_46 Not 800-1200 alone. 800-1200 net. Should have clarified. Actual intake was somewhere between 1500-1800. I took vitamin and mineral supplements to avoid excessive deficiency. Also, absolutely no added sugar. I really don't think this is unhealthy. Diet was lean chicken or salmon, tuna sushi, salad, black coffee, water, eggs, grapefruit, nuts, potatoes, broccoli, apples and cheese.
Great video Jeremy! To lose fat you need to be in a caloric deficit, so make yourself a diet that will keep you below your maintenance level. If you don't know how to do it, use some online tools like dietarize, dietclick... I would've saved so much time and effort if I had known for this earlier.
I agree with this even if you eat after a workout, which most people do, as long as your eating correctly, watching your macros, maintaining a healthy deficit under maintenance intake and exercising it all helps.
that's 5 days of exercise to burn that extra 150 calories. yeah rather die a fat man than live like a skinny person. my metabolism is so slow at burning calories that even when I went through basic training where they worked us out non stop day and night for 18 weeks and only allowing us to eat fruits and veggies I never lost any weight I had a big belly the whole time. they thought I was sneaking junk food but I wasn't... just can't lose weight and I ate what amounted to maybe 1 apple and 2 bananas for breakfast and a spoon full of carrots and beans for dinner. I was always hungry but never lost a single pound.
Damn that body recomposition made me feel much better! Ive been exercising for the past 2 weeks, but have remained around the same weight. However, my arms, shoulders, stomach and waist are looking much better and toned. I even feel much more comfortable in the jeans i used to wear cause they used to be tight around my waist.
This reassures me exactly how I feel! This will be my third week starting to exercise. I have two weeks under my belt so far. The scale would lose, gain, lose, gain. I'm almost back at my start weight. But I am starting to notice differences in my belly, arms and legs.
I’ve used to drink soda almost daily Then after about three months I’ve learned to drink more water (Some sparkling with a little flavor) I’ve learned to eat more fruits and vegetables as snacks And avoid a lot of fast food and sugary things But I do eat them on special occasions And family when offered but only those times Thanks for the lesson
This is perfect! Thanks. After 5 months of same weight, got a kitchen and body scale and a fitness watch to track better. It’s a learning journey so thanks!
if I dont know the nutrition facts of the food im eating, I'll just google it and went for the highest number possible. For example, Chicken Thighs are barely weighs 70g but I count them as 100g anyway. Its not that hard really. I sometimes planned my food ahead on the apps. The journal keeps me on the track.
Luis Garcia no, it won’t. I am not looking to be physically perfect. I just want to love myself just the way I am. Looks fade. Happiness doesn’t. Trust me, I am happy and free. I am also loved. Got to be honest, as a science grad Jeremy impresses me with his detail and use of sources. Just the simple identification of how to evaluate the data you take is invaluable!
you know telling me that it's normal for your weight to fluctuate is very comforting to me because ive been seeing progress with the way my body looks but no change in my weight... and it's making me feel that everything is all in my head..i even gain a kilo even tho im eating healthy and exercising for 3 hrs a day thank you for sharing this i won't give up
Wow, I really needed this information. I was feeling so down and I felt like I wanted to give up on the gym. I am working out five days a week and I am not seeing any change in my weight or even in my measurements but I do believe that I am over eating without realizing. Thank you for this!
Think a big error some people including myself make is using raw food calories rather than cooked. A lot of meats and vegetables have higher calorie values when cooked.
It makes more sense when knowing about body recomposition. I've committed to a 2k caloric diet and lost 10lbs in my first week w/excercise. Pretty impressive, but my 2nd week using the same diet and physical activity I've only lost 3lbs, which was really discouraging. After finding out about body recomposition it has given me more confidence to challenge my body/mind without worrying about numbers on the scale.
I needed this video. I've been at it aggressively for about 14 weeks and have been struggling with the scale. I've been tracking food and everything. Had to adjust the diet a few weeks ago though to get macros right. The scale has moved roughly 4 lbs in this time but I've been visibly building muscle and am lifting 3 x the amount on some exercises. I'll be keeping up the grind!!!!
The funny thing is that when i used to weight a lot less than I do now was when i wasn't even caring about what I ate or drank with regular exercise. Now, I'm watching my weight and what I eat and drink yet i don't lose as much weight as I would like with the same kind of exercise I did before.
Yeah. First point is so real. If tracking calories is hard to do daily, I find it easier to just track once every few days! It keeps me in check without feeling like I’m being ultra restrictive
This encouraged me to keep moving forward. Checking the scale once in a while hit me hard! I cracked up because this is meeee!!!! But I can tell I have some back fat leaving me so I can see the progress even though my scale doesn’t move much
Love you Jeremy! Always make me feel reassured from the information you give us! I know this is an old video but every time I’m stuck it helps me out, thanks for all your hard work!
I got a Wyze scale and it has been super eye opening. I weight myself at the same time every morning and I watch my trend, not my daily. I also look at my overall body fat percentage - that's really the only metric I'm trying to reduce, not necessarily weight.
geez, 2:21 you're eating a whole avocado and two pieces of bread! I'd say that's easy 600 calories. WOW! I watched on and I was 20 calories off! If you eat HALF a pizza (4 slices) that's 1,500 calories! That is your limit if you're wanting 1500 a day! I eat and eat and can't seem to GAIN weight. I sit almost all day. So, what's up with me?
You might have a very high RMR (Resting metabolic rate). This means you'll burn more calories than the normal human. The reason you're not gaining weight might be because you're not doing enough work. A bit of strength training can build muscle, which will also up Yui ur weight. That'll be a lot more healthy than just sitting around

"Weigh yourself every morning and calculate a weekly average every week. It's more accurately representing what's happening with your weight." Women: Am I a joke to you?
I honestly feel better if I visibly see results instead of weighting myself. By doing exercise you build up muscles and they're heavier or as heavy as fat
Hormones have nothing to do with whether you are in a caloric deficit or not. If you are in a deficit for a long enough time it is literally impossible not to lose weight.
@@aspenwagon04 The comment was about tracking weight every day (and comparing one week with another which the video recommends because of fluctuations). Weight is not only fat and women should compare e.g. their weight of Day 6 (or aveage of week x) in their menstrual cykle with their weight of Day 6 (or average of week x) in the following menstrual cykle, instead of comparing one week with the following - especially if they can't estimate their individual degree of water retention or if that water retention varies. I hope, you know how periods work? It is caused by hormones and as a Woman you will gain weight (mostly water) every month, and lose it after menstruation. That has nothing to do with calorie balance. Yes, calorie balance is a simple explanation for most people and is an easy physical law. However, it can be a little bit more complicated if you have conditions. For example, Lipodemia or Lipohypertrophy (they are not rare) will not simply go away (completely) because of a calorie deficit. First, you will lose fat at all the other parts of your body if there is fat to lose. Then the body will find other ways to deal with the deficit instead of burning the fat caused by the condition. If you don't know about your condition and maybe even overtrain or just eat less and less because you don't understand why you don't lose weight/fat in a calorie-deficit, you don't do yourself anything good. There are limits for some people. Even If you don't have any condition, you won't be able to make much progress at some point if you can't focus your whole life on fitness. I had to learn that by slightly going through sports addiction. By only judging my appearance nobody would recognice. Don't get me wrong. In most cases, a healthy deficit will do fine and most people just want to have a healthy weight and be a little bit fit. If you don't have very serious conditions, you can totally achieve that and I like to promote an active life with Sports. But Sports should not only be about loosing fat and gaining muscles and we should accept that science behind Fitness it is a little bit more complicated than the calorie Balance.
Using an app to measure calories makes me go insane and discourages me from carrying on. But I manage to lose weight slowly but surely by listening to my sensations. Works for me (until a certain point I guess) but that's not a good advice for most people Why do I say that then ?

Bootney Lee You don’t have to weight your food and drinks forever, just long enough to get an idea of proper portion sizes and get your intake under control. Calorie counting has always been my go-to when my physique starts to “fall off”. I’ll continue to do what works for me. 💪🏻
I think patience is key. I can not live by "tracking" everything daily, it just isn't mentally healthy or natural in my opinion. My goal now is to just eat more protein, try and eat lesser than usual and exercise regularly. I am in the same boat as you but I have successfully managed to re-composition by being in a calorie deficit of 300 and working out three days a week. My advice is buy a kitchen scale to weigh your food so you can measure the calories and use an app like Cronometer or my fitness pal. I personally use Cronometer because it allows me to track my micronutrients as well to maintain good health. Secondly, you’re also probably underestimating your body fat levels because if you’re unhappy with 16% body fat that means you’re probably around 18% to 24%. At around 15% you start to see your abs. At 12% you have a visible six pack. You need to give it at least 6 to 12 weeks to see was visible results. Good luck

Most common issue is hunger dude. You can try to manage your calorie intake all you want, but after lifting heavy you just don't feel well until you eat half the planet.
The nextinline facts
its perfectly fine to feel hungry here and there.
Black coffee or green tea suppresses hunger and you’ll feel good after a few days of fasting and eating one meal a day
The nextinline I have a protein shake and banana right after and that seems to help if not that then I would eat an healthy omelette.

BRUH LMAOOO
All natural ingredients too.)
My point is, yes, calorie deficit is a no bullshit lifestyle. You'll know when you're doing it. It's brutal at first.
Same. Started eating healthy and exercising for 3 weeks now. Only my legs and arms lose weight but my belly and love handles remains the same

The scale says I haven’t changed weight and visually I don’t notice any differences, but I’m getting stronger. Jeremy, you nail it,I can tell you the day I downloaded my fitness pal, was the best fitness decision I've ever made,on the same level, listening to guys like you, Greg Doucette and Shean N help me tons ,since you provide quality information 👍!
I’m probably bad at guesstimated calories because it feels like I need nothing
"Weigh yourself every morning and calculate a weekly average every week. It's more accurately representing what's happening with your weight."
Women: Am I a joke to you?
Lena so true 😂😂😂 female hormones are no joke
For real, I weight myself one morning then the next I was like 2.5 lbs heavier than the day before 😂😂 with approximately the same diet
Using an app to measure calories makes me go insane and discourages me from carrying on.
But I manage to lose weight slowly but surely by listening to my sensations.
Works for me (until a certain point I guess) but that's not a good advice for most people
Why do I say that then ?
what app do u use?
The apps from the leap fitness group
@B Smoove it really depends on the person. I for one struggled with keto immensley, while have no problem with calorie counting.
IVE been comparing Fat to skinny bodies to each other AND it actually is MOTIVATING me more to take .my diet more serious MEANING no more Pigging out for Jerry
I had a glass of milk and a popsicle that cost me 500 cals when I first realized this. It was a real eye opener!!!
You gave me my motivation back.. 1st week, i lost 6kgs after diet and working out.. 2nd week just lost 1.5kgs, made me really down.. I understand it more better after watching your video.. Fantastic content..
1st week or month ? Sorry dude but there is no way someone is losing 6kg in one week
3 weeks and lost nothing
@@heracliusal1292 if you've had a lot of water build up and then you cut your food aggressively and start doing cardio it's possible especially if you start at 120kg+ (saying from experience) but it's a one time thing
I agree the calorie thing is huge. I weight pretty much everything, even my drinks. The extra effort pays off.
@Bootney Lee are you dumb? weighing is the only way to determine exactly how much you're consuming, therefore being able to determine the correct amount of calories you're taking in.
@@69PotatoGaming69 I would go with ml for drinks, not weight.
Bootney Lee he’s just putting in work, you fat
Bootney Lee
You don’t have to weight your food and drinks forever, just long enough to get an idea of proper portion sizes and get your intake under control.
I mean i know it's anything but "optimal" but hey it's something I know I can do for the rest of my life, and in the long run that's what's really important.
Can we lose fat without calorie tracking?
@@robbenvanpersie1562 Yes. But calorie tracking is very helpful. You can't really estimate your calorie intake without knowing anything about it. I would say it is nearly essential for making progress. It's a lot better to take things seriously because losing fat is a long time thing.
Yeah. I weigh weekly - aiming for the same time each week. And I do it at a Nutrishop so it’s not just my weight- they measure my fat % and muscle %. It’s free! I recommend!
Protein contains calories too
@robbenvanpersie1562 if you don't anything at all measuring won't be required.

LET's GO!!!!
Cmon bro just imagine how much stronger you’ll look when lose the fat now you have muscle
Good luck
