Wow, that turned out to be gorgeous! It looked like a ton of work and I’m shocked at how good the lamp shade looks. Whole project is stunning! Great job! 👏👏👏
I LOVE this lamp, and the lampshade came up really well too. The chalk paint and the antique glaze worked so well together. You did a brilliant job with this lamp. 👏 Did you know that if your lampshade is stained, and you can't get the stain off, you can paint the whole thing with chalk paint in white or whatever colour you want. I saw someone do this on UA-cam and then I did the same thing on a lampshade that I was going to throw out, and I'm glad I didn't because it looks really good, if I say so myself! Thank you for sharing this great video.
Would have loved to see more "glam shots" of the lamp from different angles, but from the quick shots looks like you did an amazing job, thanks for sharing!
Love your sense of humour!! I laughed with you at your comment regarding your pink latex gloves "from 1945." I laughed so hard!!!🤣 I also am now so inspired to try to replicate that gorgeous lamp you created! Just beautiful! Thank you so much for this great and delightful video!!❤❤😊
Gorgeous lamp! I actually like it more than the Pottery Barn version. I’m glad you revitalized the lamp shade too because it has a beautiful shape. The end result is stunning! I’m Team Single Basin Sink too though I have a double in my home. Given the choice, I’d get a single basin for sure.
Just beautiful! Great DIY and I totally agree - no need to be an expert, just dive in and start! That's my motto and I usually love how my DIY's come out. Thanks for sharing this great flip DIY lamp 😀
What a beautiful lamp you created! Seriously is as good if not better than the big name box and mortar stores are selling for triple digits. Well done! I am inspired!!!
Thank you for this video, love it! Exactly the instructions, texture, color that I needed to update one of my lamps. Also love your humor 😁 very enjoyable to watch.
Thank you so much!💗 We had the same idea about the shade. I guess great minds think alike, lol! My original plan was to use a round drum lamp shade, but, I couldn't get out to a store because of the winter weather so I made the best of it by fixing up the original shade. And now that shade has actually grown on me🌺. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, I look forward to hearing more from you💗
Such a detailed tutorial on how to recycle your lamp. It looks fabulous. I changed a lamp from a dark colour to a antique white, but we sprayed the base. That is a no-no! I am going to try your method and I am sure it will turn out better otherwise I have to replace it, which is not really necessary, patience and perseverance, that's all we need. I am new to your UA-cam channel, I am enjoying every presentation. Thank you for sharing so spontaneously. 🥰
Thank you so much for your kind words!💗 Yes, I find that chalk paint and acrylic paint mixed with baking soda gives a much more beautiful, authentic finish than spray paint. Just be sure to use a very fine sandpaper to lightly go over the spray painted finish before you start painting. It should work out well😊. I'm glad you are enjoying the channel!💗
1945 ... 😆 ... You did a Great job and it's ok to pat yourself on the back girl! 🙌! ✋️ This is how I've learned so much, Google and UA-cam. Possibilties certainly Are endless! Keep up the great work 🥰
Thank you for teaching your amazing techniques but especially thank you for the coaching and encouragment. In the past, I have used a whitening formula for stained items that works really well. It's 1 cup laundry detergent, 1 cup Borax, 1 cup dishwasher detergent and 1/2 cup bleach mixed with enough hot water to cover your item. I have used it on very stained and yellowed handkerchiefs that my grandmother hand embroidered and edged with her handmade lace. They are over 100 years old and all I had to do was dip them in the solution and they whitened almost instantly. No scrubbing, no soaking and no damage. I just rinsed them thoroughly and let them air dry.
Chris, I really appreciate this comment, especially because you took the time to share your whitening formula with us. I am definitely going to print it out. Sometimes I run across old handkerchiefs at the thrift store or get yellowed areas on whites and I will definitely be trying your formula. I am so glad you're apart of this community💖
Blessings! I love thrifting and finding treasures there. The lamp shape and height is great and so is your transformation. One thing about a lamp such as this is you can change out the shade to get a different look. Thanks for sharing.❤️
Blessings to you!💗 Yes, thrifting is so much fun and a treasure hunt! Yes, this lamp is so versatile. I really have enjoyed having it in my home. Thank you so much for watching!💗
Ok.. WOW?? I mean WOW... You are amazing and so talented. I learned so much watching your video and you spoke so eloquently too. I have two stone type very tall lamps and I'm going to paint them chalk white and bought two white lamp shades. There's enough design to the stone lamp bases. I'm going to try doing spray chalk white. Gosh I'm so excited to do this now! I'm not sure I'm the only guy who's left comments however, you WOW'd me big time and appreciate you for doing this great video! Cheers!
Wow!! You are so creative and clever! I just love how you presented your unique ideas, tips and tricks. Plus your videos are visually pleasing and easy to follow. I’ve been making diy videos for a while but I know there is still so much to learn. I love the idea of making dupes on a budget. I don’t think we have any pottery barns near me so it’s even better that I can make my own now. I’m happy to come across a talented creator like you. I’d really love to learn more from each other.
A single, large basin is the way to go! I recently replaced my small basin on one side and a larger basin on the other with a single basin. I never regretted my decision.
Absolutely! When I got this single basin sink I was like "What have I been doing my whole life before this!?" Lol😂. Clearly you have great taste! So glad you're here!😊 #teamsinglebasin
I'm so glad you found your way here! Yes, I'm so excited to know that we can salvage thrift store lamp shades! Thank you so much for being here and taking the time to leave a comment. I look forward to hearing more from you!🌺💗
You did an amazing job on this lamp and now I want to go to Goodwill and find one to do myself! I think i'll look for old jars and do the same technique with them. I love your decorating advice. Big hugs from TX!!!!!!
Hi there Kalondia! I'm so glad to hear from you because that means you are doing okay! 🙏🏾 Yes, you should definitely try this! You'll love it! It was so fun to see the transformation with each layer of paint. Thank you so much!🤗🤗💖💖
You’re amazing!! Love your channel, now you have a new subscriber 👍🏼. I have a question, what was the last thing you used to finished? Antiqui Glace? Can you please linked here so I can buy it, thanks very much!!!🌺
Kelly, you have to let me know how your lamp turns out!🌺 If you have Instagram you should post a picture of it and tag me. I would love to see it! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch!💗 Comments like this really keep me going💗🌺
I really enjoyed your video as I am a DIYer as well. I have had great results with lamps using the same method but I have not reused a lampshade and was impressed with your results. Thanks for sharing and I subscribed to you.
I'm so happy you enjoyed the video!🌺 I was really happy to discover that you could reuse a not so great lampshade! Thank you so much for watching and I'm happy to have you in the community!😊
Zakiyyah!! This DIY turned out beautiful!!!!! 😍. I love working with chalk paint! It’s so easy and versatile and I love that you can paint indoors and not be affected by the paint fumes. You did a fabulous job and I totally LOVE your style!!! Keep up the good work my friend! ❤️
I thrift-flipped a sheet set once. I bought some patterned fabric and sewed it onto the top hem on the flat sheet, and along the opening edges of the pillow cases. I liked it. But this video is next level!!! I absolutely live your videos and your style. And also, #TeamDoubleBasin, lol
Beautiful! Really gourgus! Great job! Your helping to give me more confidence. Thanks really enjoy your fabulous projects. Looks better then Restoration Hardware.
Thank you so much!💗 I am so happy to hear that your confidence is growing! That makes me feel amazing!💗 Wow, thank you, what an amazing compliment! I'm excited to hear more from you!🌺
This is amazing! Thank you! I just found you and am working my way through your videos on Sundays while I DIY. I love your style and very calming, easy to follow videos!
Beautiful job Zakiyyah! I see we share a love for thrifting, and makeovers. I made over a similar lamp from Goodwill inspired by Pottery Barn as well. Tfs Looking forward to your next video.
Miss Barbara I'm so glad you stopped by!🌺 Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave such a kind, sweet message. I appreciate it so much💖. Yes, I love thrifting, lol. You never know what treasures you might find! I'll have to find your lamp makeover video and take a look, can't wait to see it. Great minds think alike, lol. Again, thank you so much for stopping by🌺💖
Thank you for showing us and giving so much detail in how this should be done. I have a vase that I will be doing the same thing with, I'm happy that I found your channel, New subscriber here.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked the video.🌺 Let me know if you try out the techniques on the vase and how it turns out! I'm so glad to have you in our community and I look forward to hearing more from you!💖
Love this I jus stumbled across your page and was so excited to see this as I jus thrifted some perfect lamps to do this to from goodwill 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️ your results are fabulous ❤️
Thank you Sandi!💗 I had never thought about it before, but, I wasn't able to get to get to the store because of a snow storm so I had to make due. I'm so glad that happened because now I know I can just clean up an old lamp shade if I need to!
I have just watched your video now for the first time. Thank you very much for your clear explanation of the process. The lamp is beautiful! Can you please tell me if the 'tan-wash layer of paint' and the 'white-wash layer of paint' (watered-down paint) that you used near the end of the process was chalk paint or the craft acrylic paint? If the latter, did you use a matte finish paint? Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching Angela!💖 I believe the wash layers were craft acrylic paint. If I remember correctly I think I only used chalk paint for the base layers so that it would stick to the original lamp finish. The acrylic paint wasn't matte. It was watered down so the finish didn't have much sheen. I hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions!
Good morning!🌺 The white chalk paint is this amzn.to/3CjvpoS, but, depending on how much you need for your lamp you could buy a smaller bottle at Hobby Lobby. The light beige color I tinted the white paint with and used for the wash amzn.to/3sR2rte. And the antiquing glaze amzn.to/3Mrbedv. You don't need special brushes for this, but, I found these on Amazon I think should work amzn.to/3Ck57To. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Hello Friends! I hope that you are all doing well and that you are safe and warm🌺 This is such a fun project and I'm so glad you are here to share it with me! The lamp was $9.99 and I already had all of the other things I used, but, I would say well under $10 for everythiing else. So Less than $20 compared to $299. Pretty good! Wow!! it looked amazing.. what was the actually time to just do the lamp alone? I love junking and I have several projects as I update my home to Mid Modern/ Minimalist/ Slight Contemporary Glam and 3 rooms designed in Afrocentric /Mid Modern.. I will never look at old lamps the same.. thank you so much!!! Can the base be sprayed with Satin or high gloss paint??
Thank you🌸 You could paint the lamp with spray paint, just be sure you prepare the surface very well. It needs to be super clean especially if you use a glass lamp. I would use satin so the paint for the flowers adheres properly.
Thx you so much! I went to the thrift store and found 2 lamps so excited... one is a beautiful brush gold shaped like a open pear with a rectangler shade. the other square flat base candlestick base, small square shade.. gonna glam the rectangler shade and change the color and texture of the candle stick.. will send before and after pic's..
Love this! You don’t waste time trying to be “cute”, you just show what we clicked on to see! Very well done presentation! Beautiful work.
Thanks so much! 😊
Ty so much please for showing this to us ty
Your lamp turned out beautiful. In my opinion-it looks just as beautiful as the Pottery Barn lamp.❤️
I'm so glad you like the lamp Nanette!❤ Yes, I definitely like it just as much as the Pottery Barn lamp. Thank you so
much!❤
Wow, that turned out to be gorgeous! It looked like a ton of work and I’m shocked at how good the lamp shade looks. Whole project is stunning! Great job! 👏👏👏

Thank you Sandi!💗 I had never thought about it before, but, I wasn't able to get to get to the store because of a snow storm so I had to make due. I'm so glad that happened because now I know I can just clean up an old lamp shade if I need to!
Can you share the exact colors you used for the paints?
I'd love links to the paints you used and what they all cost, plus the brush. I'm definitely a beginner!
Good luck!
Love how your Lamp turned out ? Here’s my Lamps I painted they were already textured the way I wanted them to be ?
I love this! I'm looking do something similar with a lamp but want to create a dark charcoal grey, would you have any advice for that?
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial!🌺 I am actually working on a dark/ charcoal finish. I should be sharing it sometime soon!
@@BeautifulLivingHome Looking forward to watching
Wonder if the antiquing glaze could be made to work on a satiny or glossy paint.
Hi Nora!💗 I think it should!
SINGLE for sure!
Good answer! Lol
Let me know if you have ever done any thrift flips down in the comment section.

Can you tell us what paints you used and colors?
😍😍
Single basin all the way
Wow!! it looked amazing.. what was the actually time to just do the lamp alone?
What was the brown stuff that she painted ?
❤👍👍👍
Thank you so much!😊
