I'm surprised that no one is mentioning this: doing the Namazu beast tribe dailies is also a simple and fast way to level Botanist and Miner from 60-70 while gaining reputation.
Tbh I didn't know how the Diadem worked for a long time so I spent a bunch of time using the Beast tribes for my DOL/DOH leveling. Namazu are great for 60-70 and I also used the Qitari for 70-80 on my Botanist and Miner, plus the deliveries in the Crystarium and very quickly leveled both! Sidenote: Moogles for level 50-60, Namazu for 60-70, and Dwarves for level 70-80 are also good for Crafters!
another lovely guide, i really wish i had this back when i started playing! especially the stuff about the diadem, because i didnt quite understand what it was and information on it was kind of sparse back then if i could add one thing though, getting to 10 can be a lot simpler as just gathering raw materials. you get a large xp bonus every time you gather something new, and since everything is new to you at that stage, thats a TON of xp just sitting on the rocks and trees nearby. and if you dont know where to look you can open the gathering log (B is default) and have it show you.
Damn, I wish I'd found this while leveling my botanist! This is such a great and easy-to-follow guide, that also just keeps things open enough it doesn't sound like a huge grind. The guide I used for botanist was like "gather this until level x, buy this very expensive gear from the market board, gather this until level y, buy that for your job quest"
Just a note that if you've done the quest that unlocks collectables, ocean fishing voyages will award gatherers scrips for buying gear from the scrip exchange without having to do collectable turn-ins. You can easily get enough scrips for all your gathering gear in 4-8 voyages. Depending on how much time you have to play the game it might take some time to do all the voyages, but I guarantee you it'll be way faster than collectable turn-ins.
Jolsn, your videos have inspired me to try this game and I now have 200 hours and will continue to play. Thank you for your quality advice and enthusiasm!
Great guide! Not sure if someone mentioned it yet or not, but make sure you get your secondary tool as well to get everything that you can in the Diadem.
Mannnn thank you so much for the simplification of all the elements and level ranges. Found this super useful :) will probably have all my crafters at level 90 by end of the week so really appreciated!
Currently doing this so what perfect timing! For Fisher I was shocked at how quickly Ocean Fishing boosts your Exp. Nearly level 60 there while other jobs are only around 20-30 or so
Fam THANK YOU. Best guide for those getting started without loads of gil. Gonna follow this in addition to Tribal quests to get me there. Big ups to you for putting this all in one place 🙌
Great guide TY. I had been doing it the hard way with some leves for Mining, Botanist & fishing. My 1st 2 were at level 76 & 77. My fishing was at 56. From your guide I went ocean fishing & got white gathering scripts. I was able to get a full set of gathering gear in a few days level 70/350. My Miner & Botanist could wear this set. I got the fishing rod with scripts & in no time my fishing was able to wear the same gathering set. Bait needed is Plump worm, krill & ragworm. vendor for repairs & bait is near ocean fishing so is the white script vendor. get quest from uldah in sapphire exchange to get desynthesis to break down the fish cos it isnt worth selling. I also found the Firmament & Diadem. TYVM.
Thank you for another super helpful video! I finally capped my gatherers this week. That’s one milestone reached. Now to do everything else. With your help. 😉
I did this guide to a T (without knowing about it beforehand), except for the Custom Deliveries part. I level my crafters through that. And I say this guide is literally the lazy way! My tip for collectables from unspoiled nodes: The game has an Alarm feature, where you can set an alarm every hour in Eorzea Time whenever the unspoiled node comes up. The alarm ceases to exist when you log out though, so you can make a macro that sets the alarms again, but of course you have to remember to actually press that macro every time you log in.
Thanks for the guide, lots of helpful information :) I wasn't able to access the Diadem tho, not until I talked to some NPC's with an exclamation mark in the Firmament first, and then going back to Aurvael.
Anyone coming here and have not figured out why you can't just enter the Diadem after doing the quest, you need to talk to all the npc's with a "!" in The Firmament before able to enter.
If you started over like me, I got second lieutenant around realm reborn end game content, and had to go through all of heavensward. I did the supply turn ins while doing heavensward, and my gatherers were all level 30 by the time I got the diadem done lol. So don’t skip that!
Glad I found this video. I have been collecting collectibles in Heavensward & Bloodstorm not knowing what to do with them. I did leves & gathering & mining & fishing just running around different areas. I haven't been on the ocean ship yet but will be now. I didn't know about the diadem. TYVM for this important info.
Omg… I’m spiraling while thinking of how much time I’ve wasted running laps while the GC turn ins were visible in the timers menu this whole time… 😅 thank you for the guide!
while the guide is certainly nice, and aims for *"lowest gil spent"*, that last one being most evidenced, i personally leveled my gatherers and crafters(at the same time) very recently, and found that diadem gives fixed xp depending on node, so in the inbetween ranges for diadem(like there is a node at 10, 1 at 60, 1 at 80) gathering stuff in a level appropriate zone gives a lot more xp(but requires gear at least decently appropriate for the level) also the blue weapon you get from the lvl 50 job quest is quite inferior to the one you can get from the vendor at lvl 53, as every expansion has "catchup gear" at lvl 51,61,71 from the vendor, but they can get VEEEEERYY expensive(so much in fact, that i crafted my own gear in shadowbringers because i wasn't going to spend that much just getting vendor gear) also, i personally wouldn't advise getting gear with scrips while leveling at all, as you can use the same white scrips to get the lvl 80 catchup gear, and go straight into endwalker crafting(as you wont be replacing that lvl 80 gear until 90), so you can save those up so you already have the set ready to go(dont overcap of course!). talking of scrips, i would also advise doing the crystarium deliveries as they give massive chunks of white scrips as well!
honestly, a very simple and you can easily get from 80 to 90 within 2-3 hours is just do leves, they don't cost much (just the travel cost but you'll get more out of it, not even mentioning crystals/other things you get as extra's) lvl 50-60 = Ishgard lvl 60-70 = shirukane lvl 70-80 = crystarium lvl 80-90 = old sharian. you can easily take 3 at first, then take 2 zones worth (6 in total) if you also buy gear to keep up with the ever higher requirements you can easily get much more EXP, on top that the EXP you get from just the nodes during the leves give a lot.
This is so good! As a new player I have been struggling to level and figure out which gear to buy. It would be really awesome if you could do one for crafters with information for when and where to buy gear.
I've never had an issue leveling gatherer jobs, but I'm a cheap omni-crafter. I'd rather spend and hour or two traveling around to get any ingredients needed. As a bonus, I also, at worst, break even money-wise when leveling crafting classes...
I just finished leveling FSH to 90 from like level 20 in about a week and something I'll add is doing the class quests. They give a wild amount of exp and since you don't have to worry about getting HQ versions anymore they're a lot easier to do.
Thank you so much for the video, this is going to help me lots! I didn't knew what scripts were or how to get ehm. Amazing video as always keep it up mate! wn/ 💜
Thanks for the guide! I think I'll apply these tips when I get my gathers to higher levels. Just started playing this week and thankfully I got into a server with an EXP boost. I've read it's not necessary but it's certainly a huge help, which is great since I really wanted to play all the Crafters and Gathers so I can make my own stuff. (I've read that in most cases dungeon loot is better the crafted gear considering the time investment, but I'm mainly a solo player so dungeon runs might be an issue and I like role playing as a crafter. :))
A few "WEEKS" of customer deliveries will get you the gear? That sounds like a slow way to get gear. But, I have to say you have the best tutorial for gathering and mining fast. I got leveled really fast!
Thanks a lot for the guide, I finally managed to get all my gatherers to 90 (tho a nice bit of leveling was just doing daily GC turnins and deliveries while leveling combat classes). Now for the crafters ._.
Diadem is soooooo boring. And honestly you can level botanist and miner simply by doing the gathering log, job quests, and GC turn ins. That will also get you shiny, shiny tools for achievements, and you won't burn out from gathering in the same zone for hour after hour after hour. For fisher just do ocean fishing.
Great guide, wish I looked into it before I started gatering, all my gatheres are lvl 70 and I did not know 1/2 of this and saved those manuals for later............yup, I did not read them..........sigh. Oh well, I still had fun, but I'll start doing what you recommend ^_^ ty
As a trial player I am now level 50 in both gathering jobs, and I am reaching 30 in all the crafts (takes extra time / effort with limited inventory and no market board), the plan is to reach as high a level as I can stand then go on to pay subscription.
Actually you can easily level your gathering skill in The Diadem till lvl63 without buying new gear. Use Mountaineer's/Pioneer's Gift I-II to improve your critical chance, which can grant the double XP if it crits. You can prepare the hand-in items in advance by buying them on the market board except for Grade 1 Carbonized Matter, which is market prohibited, but tradeable. You can hand those in at lvl63 to get some xp and commercial survival manuals. Buy your lvl62-63 gear, equip it and continue levelling in The Diadem.
Another fantastic, detailed and well explained video! I just started playing a few months ago and your videos have helped me so much :) Also just wondering, what shorts is your character wearing? They're very cute!
Unfortunately it doesn't seem unlocking the Diadem is as easy as just unlocking the Firmament. When I go to approach the Mission Commander, He only gives a brief dialog on himself and doesn't pop up a window with any options. I currently have my Botanist to lvl 15. Do you know of anything I may possibly be missing? Every guide I find seems to say that once the Firmament is unlocked I should be able to approach the Mission commander to travel to the Diadem, but I'm not able to do so.
I don't know if you figured this out already, but in case anyone else has the same issue: you actually have to talk to another NPC inside the Firmament. They'll have a quest marker over their head, and then they'll point you to another NPC, and so forth until you go back to the Mission Commander. It's really clunky and I don't know why they did it this way, but once you unlock the Firmament, just walk around that starting area talking to NPCs.
the 53 gear doesnt really allow you to gather the 60s in diadem though, you get way less exp per swing because you need to use your GP for sharp vision to actually get something on every swing and lose out on double xp yields with mountaineers gift, otherwise great guide :)
Thanks for the guide. I'm alright with the miner/botanist ones, those are straight forward, but I can't be bothered to do nothing but fish for 30 minutes when all I want is to level up a little bit so that my fishing retainer can level up as well. Will have to look for a different method for that. Or can I just leave ocean fishing whenever I no longer feel like it?
Great guide! But you should mention that most of your proposed ways to level botanist and miner do not work if your battle class is not high enough. You make it seem like reaching lvl 60 / Litany of Peace is enough. Only Diadem works if your botanist/miner class is ahead of your battle class because you cannot enter the zones you need to. May be apparent to long time players but not to ones starting out.
I don't think diadem works for 70-80. I did exactly what it's told in the video, and grab level 70 gear, but still, level 80 nodes not being %100 all the time slows the process a lot. Collectable exchange however, is a different story. Once you get the hang of it, you can collect 5-6 pieces of 500k exp worth mats, that's like 2.5-3 mil exp. (also, your collectable rotation is wrong imo. Went with meticulous most of the time and got much more yield) Eorzia time is really fast, cycle between your miner and botanist and you will be done around 2-3 hours.
I think the comment is more about how the thumbnail gives the impression thats the main topic of the video While the video title properly says what the video is about
would you recommand doing all of my crafting gathering on my main char (which i just hit 50) or just level a new alt and do the crafting/gathering there? i am mostly worried about bag space if i do all the crafting/gathering and every other job i want to level on 1 main.
Bag space won't be much of a problem because you can get rid of stuff quickly. Just remember to Put whatever you don't have an immediate use for on the market board!
question: where's that gatherer ability video? i KNOW it exists or has existed at some point because i distinctly remember watching it but the end card links to a video about hotbars and control schemes and i can't find it on your channel or youtube search
There are higher level versions, but you only really wanna use them in the diadem anyways. Check the top of this list for the others eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/?category2=7&category3=63
the guide is really nice, but saying you can gather lvl 60 nodes with the gear from the vendor was a let down. yes you can collect them with like a 30% chance, meaning more than half of the time you wont get anything which in turn then is very fustrating cus its wasting time.
For the love of God no, the diadem is a horrible grind, just do your dailies for gatherers and you'll get five levels minimum daily. And do not waste scripts on level 60 gear cause they class specific.
I disagree, with the survival manuals and food it doesn't take very long to get to the level 60 range, which is when you can use scrip gear. You can get to level 60 without needing to get a single gear piece. To get miner and botanist to that level can be done in a few hours. Past level 60/70, I can agree that other methods are more time efficient
For those who find that Aurvael doesn't lead you to the diadem, interact with all the NPCs marked with ! icons in Firmament.

@@xXuberflutesXx Thanks so much, very useful to know now as I'm at the end of ARR and haven't leveled crafters yet :)
Thank you! Just by doing the starter quests to get access to the Namazu I lvled twice!
Thank you!!

Hey, that's great to hear. Have fun with the game!
If you have to buy gear i recommend waiting for level 53, 63, 73 and 83 since the level 10s are pricier
Great guide! Not sure if someone mentioned it yet or not, but make sure you get your secondary tool as well to get everything that you can in the Diadem.

New zealand? Hail from the south o/ hope you're still enjoying the game!
You should add getting an off hand tool after reaching level 10 as that basically doubles your gathering rate in the diadem.
over a year later and this is still the most helpful guide ive found
Thank you for another super helpful video! I finally capped my gatherers this week. That’s one milestone reached. Now to do everything else. With your help. 😉

This guide, along with your beginner's guide, have been invaluable. Thank you!
Thanks for the guide, lots of helpful information :) I wasn't able to access the Diadem tho, not until I talked to some NPC's with an exclamation mark in the Firmament first, and then going back to Aurvael.
Great guide! This really makes things so much easier to understand.
My bard is finally level 64 and GC is maxed atm, so it's time to follow this great guide!!!

Dude thank you for making this I was so confused on how to get started.
The man the myth the legend. Back at it again for the friends. Thanks dude! Cheers from Texas.
Omg… I’m spiraling while thinking of how much time I’ve wasted running laps while the GC turn ins were visible in the timers menu this whole time… 😅 thank you for the guide!
The fishing advice is fantastic! I wish I did it earlier! Thank you!
This is a genuinely helpful video. Thank-you! You just earned a subscriber.
Nice guide. I remember doing it the hard way and I'm totally fine with the game having a much faster way to get through that slog!

Please make a guide about regional folklore and crafters master guides. Maybe even more. There is a lot to learn about them D:
beauty guide, thanks for the post. i'm hoping you're thinking about doing one for crafting as well.
I just finished leveling FSH to 90 from like level 20 in about a week and something I'll add is doing the class quests. They give a wild amount of exp and since you don't have to worry about getting HQ versions anymore they're a lot easier to do.
Love your guides, so clear and helpful and full of great info. Thanks for yet another great guide.
Thank you so much for the video, this is going to help me lots! I didn't knew what scripts were or how to get ehm. Amazing video as always keep it up mate!
wn/ 💜
Your guides are super useful, informative and calming to listen/watch. Thanks a lot, and keep it up!
thank u jolsn i am ur biggest fan i watch all of ur videos religiously 😍
Thanks for the guide! I think I'll apply these tips when I get my gathers to higher levels. Just started playing this week and thankfully I got into a server with an EXP boost. I've read it's not necessary but it's certainly a huge help, which is great since I really wanted to play all the Crafters and Gathers so I can make my own stuff. (I've read that in most cases dungeon loot is better the crafted gear considering the time investment, but I'm mainly a solo player so dungeon runs might be an issue and I like role playing as a crafter. :))
Thanks it's always great to refresh your memory or learn something new :)
amazing guide! i've been going around the zones leveling like a snail... :D
A few "WEEKS" of customer deliveries will get you the gear? That sounds like a slow way to get gear. But, I have to say you have the best tutorial for gathering and mining fast. I got leveled really fast!
So very helpful! Thank you!
Diadem does cycle into multiple long term achievements, and pterodon mount, which for some might be worth the boredom.
Great guide, wish I looked into it before I started gatering, all my gatheres are lvl 70 and I did not know 1/2 of this and saved those manuals for later............yup, I did not read them..........sigh. Oh well, I still had fun, but I'll start doing what you recommend ^_^ ty
Just made an alt, and though I didnt plan on doing anything related to DoH/DoL, with this guide I might just give it a try :)
As a trial player I am now level 50 in both gathering jobs, and I am reaching 30 in all the crafts (takes extra time / effort with limited inventory and no market board), the plan is to reach as high a level as I can stand then go on to pay subscription.

Something I actually have been doing for botanist job in higher levels is choosing items that I have yet to gather. same process for the miner class.
Another fantastic, detailed and well explained video! I just started playing a few months ago and your videos have helped me so much :)
Also just wondering, what shorts is your character wearing? They're very cute!
Glad to help! Those are Spring Bottoms in Soot Black
instead of custom deliveries, one can make a ton of gatherer white scrips via ocean fishing
i havnt lvled fisherman yet cuz i actually have to pay attention to what im doing to get the mats lol
Thanks for the guide.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem unlocking the Diadem is as easy as just unlocking the Firmament. Char looks like a slightly cooler Anna Fang.
What survival manual would I get after level 70? The Commercial Suvrival manual's exp effect is halved after lvl 70.
What addon/mod/plugin is that Quest Info UI at the 45 second mark?
is there an update about that quest ui looks much better than the se ui
Got all my gatherers to level 90 but now I don't know what I should be doing next XD
I didn’t know you could still harvest grade 2 resources. Those sell for a lot of Gil
I don't think diadem works for 70-80. I did exactly what it's told in the video, and grab level 70 gear, but still, level 80 nodes not being %100 all the time slows the process a lot. god id rather just spend forever in diadem than figure out how that system works it looks like a pain in the ass, complex for no reason.
I cannot do levequests, the NPC sends me away saying im too new of an adventurer. Please address this
Should I use the survival manuals for fisher?
I can’t get into the Diadem. I talk to the NPC and nothing happens?
Nice but you didn’t mention anything about making Gil
I did, Diadem and Scrips, also spiritbond materia will make you gil along the way passively
I think the comment is more about how the thumbnail gives the impression thats the main topic of the video
While the video title properly says what the video is about
would you recommand doing all of my crafting gathering on my main char (which i just hit 50) or just level a new alt and do the crafting/gathering there? i am mostly worried about bag space if i do all the crafting/gathering and every other job i want to level on 1 main.
Hey, that video is getting remade very soon! There was some stuff I wanted to clear up about it
@@Jolsn cool, glad to hear it! looking forward to that :D
I gotta know what is the name of the outfit used?
What is the background Music in this video?
How much does it take if you only do diadem? from x to lvl 80 ?
How the hell do i open that menu that shows collectability and what not
can i use grand companies gear instead?
Quick question. Does this work with the level 90 level-cap?
Oh wait, NVM
i unlocked that diadem today but i cant go into the Dungeon by the npc HELP
u have follow the quests in The Firmament
my scripts are at rank 3, how do I get all the other once?
there is no quest for me in the studium even tho my gatherers are level 80 please help? :c
can you do one for crafters?
what type of glamour are those ears??
Daily timers
Craft everything in your craft list
Ask randoms in La noscea to make you HQ ITEMS…
And what about the lvl90 gear?
Ideally you should buy or craft a set of crafted gear
Do I still use Survival Manual after lvl 50?
There are higher level versions, but you only really wanna use them in the diadem anyways. Check the top of this list for the others eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/?category2=7&category3=63
@@Jolsn Thank you!
the guide is really nice, but saying you can gather lvl 60 nodes with the gear from the vendor was a let down. yes you can collect them with like a 30% chance, meaning more than half of the time you wont get anything which in turn then is very fustrating cus its wasting time.
I cannot get into diadem..
White scrip gear at lvl 50
brother that collectability system looks like a confusing pain in the ass
For the love of God no, the diadem is a horrible grind, just do your dailies for gatherers and you'll get five levels minimum daily.
And do not waste scripts on level 60 gear cause they class specific.
I disagree, with the survival manuals and food it doesn't take very long to get to the level 60 range, which is when you can use scrip gear. You can get to level 60 without needing to get a single gear piece. To get miner and botanist to that level can be done in a few hours. Past level 60/70, I can agree that other methods are more time efficient
