    Another tip, cut your threads at the spool and leave the ends in your serger, then tie the new thread to the ends and gently pull through. I also use canned air without the straw attached to the nozzle, to clean the lint from inside my serger. If you sew fleece, minky, and flannel there will be a lot of lint. I also use a yarn needle to pull my thread ends into the seam to finish it off.

    Congrats Neita. The best way to thread the machine is to cut the threads at the top and remove the spools and then load the new thread spools. Knot the new thread with the thread that was already on the machine and then pull the thread thru to where the needles are. Some sergers can be murder to thread from scratch - the lower looper is the most challenging for me.

    Congratulations on the machine Great Deal, the thread is that way so you can see how to thread it better. It’s not as hard as it seems. The tray is for the front to catch the scraps. I’ve had my server for over 5 years it’s amazing. Every easy to use, the tensions are what u have to get use too mostly on 4’s and 3. Good Luck U Will Catch on Quick

    Since this is a older video, i'm sure you now know the color threads are for adjusting the tension so you know which knob to adjust.

    So those colorful threads are just to help you figure out which one goes where. Once you start using it you will replace them with white color thread mostly. Hope you didn’t take the threads off yet. I would love to explain more stuff if you want. I am on discord as DivyasCustomDesigns

    It has a built in handle. As you face the machine curl your fingers over the top and your fingertips will go into the handle. A go to video and book for me was Ready Set Serge by Georgie Melot. I first saw her on Sewing with Nancy. Another good episode on SWN was done with Pam Massie(not sure of spelling on last name). Hope this helps. Have fun!

    They have the different threads to help you learn and see the different pathways for the 4 looper's. Study your manual. It will also help yo get a serge book for reference when you need to change your tensions for different stitches.

When you serge it cuts off a bit of edge of fabric so the tray is to catch scrap.oh you figure it out. Lol.

    I bought this machine last year and consumed many videos from the SewingMastery.com youtube channel. She shows you how to do everything. There's a playlist for the Brother 1034d. Awesome tutorials. What I'm wondering is about running minky fabric through a serger since it's so messy. I love using the serger, but have only made some flannel cloth wipes and a mask. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

    Oh, and the thread is there to show you how to thread the machine. They are color coordinated to show you the passage way for each thread.

  • @antoinetteseals4549
    @antoinetteseals4549 3 роки тому

    The thread is to help you to learn to thread it properly. The nets are to place on serger thread cones, and the tool that is tool to unscrew the needles and put them back in place.One of the feet is a blind hem foot and the other is a gathering foot. I just got my 1034dx this Monday past. Yes there are a lot of youtube videos and I am gonna have to do the same thing. Remember the machine is threaded , to help you to thread the machine properly. Enjoy!

    Could you make more videos using this machine please! I've had it for over a month. I've made one linen shirt, then started on my used silk sari's. My dream was to make silk head wraps and linen garments to sell on Etsy, but I can't get it to sew on silk consistently. Im not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can get it to do a roll hem for about 4 inches, then it gets hung up and sounds like the machine is going to explode. The threads are getting all tangled up inside. So Ive adjusted tensions, width, length, etc. and nothing is working. I got to one point where nothing happened. It just didnt sew, at alll. HELP! Please?

    • @rachaelhunt8268
      @rachaelhunt8268 3 роки тому +1

      And that's what I thought too. I thought I would just watch a bunch of videos on YT. But... alas, all sergers are different. and each machine has different tension settings. I just want someone to help me figure this out. I'm not a beginner seamstress, but I've never had a serger before. Anything you can share about what you've learned would be great!

    • @NeitaFajita
      @NeitaFajita  3 роки тому

      I'm very new to using a serger and have only sewn with knit fabrics and spandex. I haven't tried silk yet so I will have to test it out first and let you know!

    Neita watch my unboxing video. I explain what all the feet and whatnot are. That plastic bin is for catching the strips of fabric the cutter cuts off and the feet are the ruffle foot and the other is for binding I do believe.
