      @@dcro9903 I can't say where this is, but I have dove Big Rock in the past. My recommendation would be find nooks and crannies that aren't "name spots" in that area and you'll find your scallops. Happy hunting!

    Thank you for the great video man! For sea urchins, I got a bunch of them around 2/1, and all of them were almost empty, do you know when is the right season to dive for them?

    • @WildCaughtOutdoors
      @WildCaughtOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      So there really isn’t a season for them per say. The “uni” portion is really dependent on if they are eating or not. If there isn’t food, they shrink on the insides to survive. Your best chances for finding sea urchins with good uni will be places with a lot of algae, and sea weed for them to eat. Hope that helps!

    looks like a fullcooler to me! I want to go next time! The snail was a Norris's kelp snail (not a turban) ,but the large one caught after the first scallop was a wavy turban snail.

    I’ll be going out to Spearfishing for the first time is there a good place near seal beach that you can recommend for sea urchin?

    • @WildCaughtOutdoors
      @WildCaughtOutdoors  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately I am not familiar with the Seal Beach area. However, places where sea urchins are found are pretty much easy to find. Look for areas with a lot of rock structure and kelp, and you should find them no problem. Good luck!

    Great video, this is super helpful. Are red and purple urchins open for recreational take pretty anywhere in SoCal? I've tried reading the regs, but have seen mentions of permits for red urchins. I'm thinking that's only if you're selling them, but do you know? Thanks dude.

    • @WildCaughtOutdoors
      @WildCaughtOutdoors  3 роки тому

      All you need is your fishing license with ocean enhancement tag. Limit is 35 a day, but honestly you only need a couple to make a good meal. The permits are for harvesting urchin commercially. Hope that helps!
