Great video as always Steve, I'm sure it's not your first installation, but nothing better than starting the day early and improving the lives who request our work! 👍☝
Nice job Steve! We need more guys like you around here! Honest, reliable, dependable, knowledgeable and fair! Have a good week.
From Northwestern Vermont
Nice work, Steve. I wish you could show us a maintenance video on one of these CGI boilers.
I just installed the same one I my house.great job.
Nice neat install as always Steve.
Thanks 👍
you do great work steve, thanks for all teh videos over the years
Another Great Install Steve..
Steven, I love the Classic Houston We Have Ignition 👍
Steve, love your videos! "Phones ringin' off the hook mama!" haha
Great work Steve.
Awesome job steve
Nice install !
Nice work.
Fantastic job Steven!
Thanks for watching
Install looks real nice Steve.
Beautiful install!
Good job Steve.
Next summer replacing the condenser due to boiler venting. Thxs for the vids!
I like to purge into a bucket. So when it fills up with water i can watch the air escape in the form of bubbles. Lets you know when you get all the air out. Once in awhile I'll sit by the boiler watch the pressure gauge and pinch the hose to build up pressure and let it go before hitting 30psi. Gets all the hard to get air pockets out.
Nice job
Hi Steve from England, i'm on my second wall hung boiler, the first one was junk after only 10 years, i personally hate them but we don't have any other choice except going full electric heating which is very expensive.
Solder 🙌🏽
New sure is nice! Great work. 11:18 "Flux pulls in the solder" I thought the flux spreads the heat, capillary action pulls in the solder (being a narrow gap between the pipe and fitting). 10:15 great shot of capillary action.
The flux dissolves the oxides and other contaminants from the metal surfaces, allowing the molten solder to wet the surfaces.
Pleasure to watch a pro do his job. Nice new vent system . Love the smell of solder in the morning.
It’s an art to solder !
Yes it is but not all people see it that way ! Propress and push together fittings seems to be the only way they know! This generation is pushing the soldering joints away ! They say it takes to long to solder up joints lol👻🤣🤣🤣
How long did this install take you ?
Yeah haw, Steve is working again mamma...Steve is working again!
Nice work Steve. A lot of work for 1 man,, but then again you get all the $.
Is there any videos on how to set up | install a Direct Vent to a boiler that’s currently venting into a chimney?
Nice job Steve, nothing wrong with the pump on the return.
I AGREE THE PUSH AWAY GUYS WILL BE ALL UP IN ARMS NOW LOL
11:22 even the solder has an accent like Steve
do you have to pull permits for new installs ?
Hello from the great state of Michigan
hello
Like Eric O. of South Main Auto. Steve's customers are lucky to have him. Pride of workmanship is increasingly rare these days.
Exactly. SMA all the way.
Steve, really neat and professional job! Is your truck defroster working properly?
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again y’all. 👍👍
hello tony
I have a cgi series 1 and circular and water feed is on return side like your install . Bought a cgi series 3 and is showing circulator and water feed valve on supply side ! Does it matter
Thanks for this video.. I'm getting labor quotes of over 3 to $4000 to install one.. I just cant afford that. Think I can do it myself now, may take a while but to save thousands I have lots of time
Nice install, I was working on a cig 4 today, about 11 years old with the old aquastat and igniter board rather then the digital display. Gotta ask though, do you not believe in manometers or something? Grab a digital one and measure your manifold pressure adjustments.
testo 320 is a better way to set gas valve .. true combustion is the way to go .. 3.5 is just a starting point ..
really nice looking install. sleep deep at night by sweating that copper instead of pro pressing it. makes sense to have the circulator
pumping 125 degree water instead of 180? lasts longer.
intersting how 40 ppm CO on a new boiler is cool but an old one it’s, “ well, she’s barely passing time for new!”
that’s where art and science meet and in the doctors office
11 ppm more and a new boiler would have to be ordered?🤣😅🤣
Thanks again for the videos!
🍺🍺🍺🥃🥃🏌🏻♀️🎯
Stay safe.

Hello Steve!
hello rodney
Nice install but the exhaust vent can’t be that close to the a/c condenser unit, it’s a code violation. The idea behind that is if there is a malfunction and raw gas comes out of the vent it can be ignited by a spark from the contactor in the condenser unit. Sounds far fetched but that’s the code 🤷♂️
For years now, I have been using the emergency switch to turn on the gas powered boiler that runs to my cast iron radiators for heat. After the third time being charged for a thermocoupler replacement at close to $500 in as many years, I have trust issues. The boiler is now approaching 20 yrs, so, how much can expect to spend to replace, or fix by a reputable contractor? Parts and labor in total? What may be causing the issue, or should I replace?
Have not found anyone to help me, so maybe a stranger on the internet will. At least I have heat....only an issue in the dead of winter when I wake up cold to pee, since I can't afford to travel and worry about pipes freezing anyway.
A lot of work for one.But great job.
nice install. soldered copper looks so much nicer (and durable) than propress...
yes i agree
Nice tidy little boiler. High efficiency stuff is junk. I have a lochinvar that I’m just waiting to have kittens.
What gas do you use. Mapp ?
propane = l.p. gas
Steve…..can you please tell me what company makes that stainless steel vent pipes ….Z-flex? ……i have the same boiler and the previous owner installed it with single walled galvanized vent pipe and it’s kind of sketchy ….I would love to replace it with that stainless steel piping instead
Duravent is your best option.
FYI single wall galvanized pipe was an approved venting method per most manufacturers when these boilers first came out provided the joints were sealed with high temp RTV. These are CAT III gas - positive pressure non-condensing.
Tiny little thing compared to my EFM pk450
Hi Steve
hello
O yeh mama
Amagine if combustion test FAILED?
AMAGINE
Steve, what is the average cost to replace a 140,000 btu boiler? My buddy was quoted $26,000.00 in Montana. That seems high, but I have no idea.
That’s outrageous
Chicagoland area if a 80% boiler ballpark 5500-8,000
If a high efficient boiler, 3-4 grand more.
Is the copper 3/4 or 1 inch?
its 1 1/4 and 1"
Steve what do you pay for a roll of solder? Did the price go up?
its like 28 for a roll .. i look on line for the cheapest price and buy 6
Hi Steve. I have not soldered a copper pipe in at least 45 years. Yes I'm OLD>
do you use any size of LP tip below t-4?
sometimes i will use the big t6 tip for melting lead
@@stevenlavimoniere what about t-2 and t-3? too small?
Weil-McClien boilers are very tough and good. I used to re-control these boilers and they were good for another 25 years.
Excellent job Steve! I assume that the problem with "push away" is the pump is pumping much hotter water than what's coming back which lends to cavitation and pump vane degradation? Obviously the cavitation would be microscopic or the noise would give it away. Another way to look at your "problem people" is that when you are good you make it look so easy that anyone could do what you are doing. The curse of a craftsman, make it look so easy that people think they can do the job, the problem is people start giving you ideas because they think they are at your level. The solution - 95% of all suggestions are bad ideas, 5% being good ideas, while 1% to 2% are both good ideas and are actionable. Your curse is sorting out the ideas, but getting 1% or 2% of good ideas that can be easily added to your quiver for almost free is a good problem to have.
nice job i just wonder if you hire young kids who wants to learn the trade
no i work alone .just me and the dog
Awesome Job Momma!
Man l live in the wrong state or Steve needs to move to mine! Clean install this is better than tv!
Nice work Steve. Do you have someone to let Miss Molly out while you are working?
she goes on pee pads if she needs to go .i only leave her home is i am going to be one one job all day.... no sense in staying in the truck all day alone ..
@@stevenlavimoniere excellent. Just wondered if you had somebody you can rely on to keep an eye on her on those days she stays home alone
@@chuckquinn8026 if i need it my daughter or sister can check on here there both close by
@@stevenlavimoniere excellent Steve. Just wondering since I had a Long Haired Chi for 15 years…
I can't believe the price of soldier how much it went up. Nice job Steve
Dang Steve be burning the midnight oil. Steve's working again mama.
its morning time
Why are you using copper and not black pipe?
does it matter ???? what difference does it make ??? copper is easyer to work with faster .
@Mark Jacobs, it’s a hot water boiler, coppers fine, steam I go with cast fittings and black pipe.
Guy this is old fashioned stuff you use overthere. Almost stoneage.
