    Thanks Mitch. I've decided to build a Johnny Cash PC. So one part at a time but it is going to be easier on my budget. Will probably overkill but it should be good or future-proof for several years I would imagine. Bought the 4TB SSD card on a black Friday sale and picked up a case and power supply over Christmas. I think it will be RAM next and I imagine that my current laptop will be used in the golf cave until March or April of next year.
    Merry Christmas and I hope you have a Happy New Year and fantastic 2024!!!

      Thanks mate and best of luck with the build! If you can afford the ‘overkill’ then go for it - it will save you money in the long run! Merry Christmas pal ⛳️🎅🏼

    Just a word of warning…the E6 Apex is a BEAST of a program. I’ve got a beefy gaming computer, it easily runs MS flight simulator 2020 but I got 3 frames per second FPS on Apex😳. I was stunned how graphics and processing hungry Apex is. Your computer needs to have exactly or BETTER hardware than specified on their website.

    Love the videos, curious if you know much about gaming laptops for simulators though? I looking at an Acer Nitro 5 as an entry level setup. It has a 3060 graphics card, so seems like it should be OK? Thanks for any thoughts you've got!

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  11 місяців тому +1

      I know that the same graphics cards in laptops are not as powerful as the ones in PC's - so that 3060 won't be as strong in the laptop. I'm sure it will run most simulator softwares absolutely fine - but maybe not omn the highest graphics settings on GSPro ⛳️

      You can run gs pro via laptop but laptop gpus are NOT as powerful as desktop counterparts even with the same number ie a 3060 laptop gpu is < 3060 desktop by quite a margin

    A modern i5 and a 3050 runs any modern courses fine according to reddit. The 16 GB of at least DDR4 3200 MHz RAM, and a motherboard with a quality USB controller or Wifi Controller (depending on wireless or wired connections), are the much more important aspects of the build. I don't trust pre-builds because they often use cheap motherboards with low-end usb, ethernet, and wifi controllers that go out within the first year or two of owning the device. While pre-builds often appear cheaper, this is because you are getting the cheapest parts on the market, and you are paying for the building process and shipping.

      It depends what software you’re using for your golf sim really. GSPro is constantly bringing out new courses that require a lot of computer power to run smoothly, whereas TGC2019 would work fine with just the basics ⛳️

    Hi. Just wondered if you think these specs would run a golf sim, im in the process of building one. I have a rapsodo mlm2pro but will be purchasing gs pro too.... si need to know if these specs will run it ok in full hd? Im also thinking of purchasing the optoma gt2000hdr projector. Would this projector work too? Thanks.

      I'd recommend 16GB RAM ideally. Apart from that, should be ok. Projector looks good 👍🏼

      Hi, its got 16gb of ram, but do you mean on the graphics card specifically? Sorry, I have no clue on computer stuff, but slowly learning more since starting my golf sim.....

      Internal graphics on motherboard won't run anything if you have a desktop. Also if running a laptop remember video cards arnt compatible to Desktop so let's say 3060ti on desktop is way way faster and better than on a laptop. So when looking at people's stats make sure you arnt comparing apples to oranges

    A cheaper way to future proof is to buy a desktop with a reasonably priced graphics card with the ability to upgrade in the future. I’m running a 3050 right now and it’s does great at lower resolutions (1280x1024) at the highest graphics levels. If you don’t have a projector that is 4K, there is no reason to overpay for a graphics card.

    • @hcpgolf

      Just cause you don't have a 4k projector is no reason to get a good graphics card like 1080ti, 2070, 2070S, 3060Ti etc. Me myself have a 65" TV beside my computer and huge difference using good graphics on 1080 Ultra even though the projector just puts out basic 1080. The TV is what we all watch flyover on and look at the course. The projector is just there to give visual you are on the course but I suggest everyone has 1-3 monitors set up next to the computer and hitting area. 1 for the bigger clear picture, 1 for all the stats like club path, distance, spin and such (I use my 21" monitor) and could use a 3rd if you do putting via a Webcam

    AMD Graphics cards? - much better gaming performance per $ and wouldn't seem to matter as NVidia's big gaming advantage is ray tracing which is not used in any golf sim engine that I am aware of.

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  11 місяців тому

      In all honesty, I'm not too familiar with AMD graphics cards so I don't want to recommend when not 100%. If you have some good ones please list them below for others to be aware of 👍🏼⛳️

      $900 7900 XTX > $1200 4080 super / 4080
      $700 7900 XT > $800 4070 ti super
      $489 7800 xt > $530 4070
      For gs pro raw rasterization performance AMD had a more powerful gpu card for less $ than nvidia the “big” selling features for Nividia (ray tracing and dlss) are not used on gs pro and not likely to come anytime soon

      I think E6 Apex required ray tracing and other stuff. I’m tried to run Apex on my computer with an RX 6650 and Ryzen 5 and got 3FPS😳 I was stunned. I emailed TruGolf folks, they couldn’t have been more helpful. They emailed me the “recommended” hardware, not just the minimum and there was a big difference. For example, 32GB RAM is recommended…not 16.
