A legit setup! Thanks for sharing. I'd love to see a cost breakdown just for context, but I think yours is a far cry better than the golf-in-a-box options...👍
Really excellent set up for a "DIY" solution, I think you nailed it. So many out there want the "cheapest possible" but I think there is a market for this much nicer setup and you crushed it. I had never heard of the Roxor product, thanks for sharing!
This is an awesome build! The EYE XO launch monitor is $10k. The good news is 2023 is going to have a ton of companies flood the market with competing products. If I was to invest in this, I would want a launch monitor that did NOT require stickers on my clubs!
Great setup, awesome video and a lot of great info. I apologize if I missed this in the video but what are the measurements of the space? Looks like maybe 14' wide x 10' high x maybe 10' or 12' where the hitting area is. I am trying to plan out my hitting space and wanted to see how much space I really need.
I just bought that same projected from SIM golf. Waiting for it to arrive. I’m like a kid on Christmas right now! I will say, I had the country club elite mat as well, but had to switch to Fiberbuilt. I got some nasty golfer’s elbows from the CCE mat. Hopefully you don’t end up in the same spot. We have a very similar setup in the garage, with the curtains on the side in order to move when snow is in the forecast! Awesome set up. Thanks for all the details. I may look into a Uneekor. I’m currently running a SkyTrak, but the additional club info looks amazing. Awesome vid as always, bud!
Thank you! And thanks for the advice on golf mats. I haven't had any joint pain from the CCE mat but have noticed that it really penalizes fat shots. Improvement-wise, it has caused me to hit the ball more pure but can be frustrating for others when playing in a group. The club data from Uneekor is insane and has definitely helped me identify what I need to refine in my swing.
@@rogueengineer I completely agree about the CCE mat. It is not very forgiving for anyone who tends to get a bit chunky. I meant to ask, did you find any particularly helpful video for setting up your projector or did you just use the BenQ website?
First of all it’s a totally awesome set up really, enjoyed your video and all of the details… But I agree that the CCE Mat destroyed both my elbows after 4 months. So much so that I needed Physio on both… I switch to the fibrebuilt Grass series and a year and a half later I have zero pain!
I started with an expensive 5x10 piece of Sym turf (TeeLine) which is pretty close to the CCE mat in how its built and feels. My issue was that in a garage setting where we could not move around the mat much because of space issues and the ball had to be struck in a small area only we wore that expensive material down quickly! If you can't move around much this is why you see most evolve into a replaceable hitting strip setup. So essentially I spent $1000 for a mat that I couldnt use anymore!
Great video but yes when I saw the Country Club elite mat I was like “uh oh” - that mat destroyed my elbow and I’m still doing physical therapy on it. Please, please, do yourself a favor and cut a hitting strip into your CCE mat. While it works great as a stance mat, you want to go with something like a Sigpro Softy or a Fiberbuilt for the hitting mat.
Legit setup. Way to go! Enjoyed your thoughtful attention to detail and sharing that. Garage addition in progress, going to put in a sim. I'd love this kind of setup.
Hey, I did the same thing with the moving blanket and had the same results; the blanket got torn up. The problem with this is the 'black' stuff that came out of the moving blanket got on the balls and then transferred to the screen leaving a noticeable dark area on the screen; essentially ruining the screen. The screen still functions fine, but you can definitely notice the dark area around the center of the screen where all the balls hit. I hope you didn't have the same problem. For all those reading this, DO NOT use a moving blanket behind your impact screen. Just use a comforter or light blocking shade.
I did get a little staining but luckily I caught it in time and it wasn’t too bad. But yes, for everyone else, learn from our bad experiences and don’t use moving blankets!
Awesome setup! What is the height off the ground to the bottom of the uneekor eye xo? I’m in the process of building one one and I want to make sure I have enough clearence with someone’s swing path
As everyone else said, amazing video, clearly you designed and succeeded in creating a dream simulator. My question is can you go into more detail about how you wired everything to an AV receiver, and how the projector screens works as a second monitor and so on. I love the idea of that for use of golf sim, gaming, movies but you lost me with the details of the wiring. One other question is, if you were to be designing a designated space for this set up, how many power outlets would you have wired? What other wiring would you set up before installing?
Great video. I’m also going to install the Uneekor eye xo or eye xo 2 and really like how you mounted it on the ceiling. Can you give me any advice on how you did yours? The 2 pole look is sharp!
Love the video and setup. On the landing area, you’re the first that I’ve seen use an insulator board vs gym mats. When you drive your car in (assuming you do that), do you just lift the landing area up and store it? I’ve been struggling with trying to figure out how to park the car in the area with my enclosure. Your setup might work if I could lift the whole landing area up. And does the insulation board do a good job of slowing down balls off the screen? Thanks!
I don't often park cars in this area so I don't have to move it frequently but yes it is light and would lift up all in one piece to store against the screen. The floor is great for putting but you wouldn't want to count on it for slowing balls down. Thats the job of the screen and the foam mattress topper behind it.
Looks great! Love to do something similar. How does everything hook to your computer. Running 2 HDMI? Ethernet for the sensor? What about controlling the computer from a different room?
Great build and a lot of great tips, thank you! Two quick questions: Does your split system above the enclosure affect the screen at all? Does it still cool/heat your garage?
Thanks. Planning for one in same $20,000 price range late 2023-2024. How do we choose?? 1- Other than ceiling mount, why did you choose Uneekor EYE XO over so many others? 2- Are these up-gradable in any way say a few years after purchase? ie. does software improve etc. or are you stuck with what you buy? 3. Putting - No simulator seems to talk much about how the putting works and/or how well. Can anyone help me understand that? 4. Can you connect/watch movies/netflix/TV etc on this giant screen? 5. Why did you buy from Carls instead of a place that has all in one package options like shopindoorgolf? Do you think you got a better all around price buying separately? I'm not as handyman as you so the more complete all in 1 package with great instructions is a big factor for me. Thanks very much for any thoughts suggestions or any other videos that cover how to decide.
I am building a very similar setup. I liked your idea for the formulae insulation on th flooring - how is that holding up? Would you recommend it over EVA foam pads?
Nice setup. Do you know if there is club data on GSpro when you use your Uneekor eye xo. IE, ball impact position and club path? I would rather use this software vs getting refine. Thanks for your help.
Excellent video, thank you! Does your eyexo have issues with your floor not being level? I’m assuming it’s not level because it’s a Garage. Uneekor told me they can’t guarantee accuracy if the hitting surface is not level
Really excellent video.. one of the best simulator build videos on UA-cam! Also.. killer sim build too! 2 questions: 1. Can you share more info on the materials used and how you dropped down the EYEXO? 2. Also, materials and how you mounted Roxor controller on its stand? Thanks so much!
Thank you! To drop the Eye XO I used 1/2” pipe with flanges on each end. Drilled holes to match in the bracket and bolted together. The Roxor controller has a threaded insert in the bottom that will mount to most tripods. Hope that helps!
What is that bottom part of the impact screen, notable at about 4-mins in? I have a Carl's enclosure and screen that I just got a couple months ago, but there is no bottom/foam portion, so I added 2x pipe foam which sort of works, but I still have occasional errant balls and also need to affix and replace the foam every few months as it get's pretty beat up. It stops putts fairly well from rolling under but that's about it... let me know! Thanks!
Awesome build and very well made. Behind the screen did the memory foam make a difference with bounce back/sound? If so did you just dangle the pad in mid air or have it right up against the back of the screen?
Do you think having any kind of extra padding whether it is a memory foam pad like yours, heavy blankets etc that the additional material behind the screen technically wears the screen quicker since it cuts the amount of screen "throw" down? Hopefully that makes sense.@@rogueengineer
Did you look at GC2/GC Quad vs your Eye XO? What drew you to the Uneekor? Also have a dream of building one of these but want to buy it all just once lol. Amazing video as always!
I did, liked the Eye XO because it was ceiling mounted. The quad would need to be moved in and out and switched sides for right vs leftys.
