    Another successful repair! Well done.
    One small note, when you tested the double diode, the voltage drop didn’t show a short. I can understand your concern if the capacitor took it down with it. But on this case it seems still good.
    In case voltage drops between 2 diodes are the same i would declare this diode still good 😊.
    Thanks for keep teaching us!

      Because that double diode show value on both side mean that is shorted from both side

    Hi Sorin, i love your videos, and i have a question for you. I managed to find a shorted GPU mosfet on a asus ux550g thanks to your videos. After removing the mosfet laptop turned on, goes into bios, gpu is recognized. Only thing is that the fans are not spinning at all... I ordered the mosfet, would like to know if the fans are going to spin when mosfet installed, i believe you had a similar case, but cannot find the video... Thanks 😊

    • @winlose3073
      @winlose3073 Рік тому

      probably the fans work only when the temperature goes up try to stress the cpu and see if the fans spin. R
      eplace the mosfet for good measure.

  • @andytipping70

    bigger is better? what about stress on the semiconductors just before the capacitor - they have to charge it - looks like a short for longer?

    Would it be feasible to attempt a similar repair without the use of a microscope?

    • @Mark_C1
      @Mark_C1 Рік тому

      IMO it’s not impossible but highly unlikely. When the components get down to that size it’s so hard to see them clearly with the naked eye. With a over head magnifier it’s doable but then you start struggling on working height with the soldering iron or heat gun and fogging up the glass with breath while concentrating. Maybe a set of surgeons loupes would work ok but by that point you’re better off getting a half decent microscope. Not that expensive and really make life sooo much easier !
