    I've been rollerskating for 4 months on and off and I struggle so much, I recently found out I got pronation and that I dont have a good balance (I can only balance on my foot for 30 seconds) but I would really like to skate around more. I don't have a problem standing up and spinning on them, but I have a problem moving forward without wobbling. Does it also have something to do with the fixation or set up if the wheels? Like if they don't all spin at the same speed?

    I don’t know any skaters so I hope I can ask here. My skates arrived today along with all my gear, we went to a car park (not the best but the only one that’s not locked) - I am REALLY struggling. I have never done anything like roller skating and the fear gripped me more than anything I’ve done in my life. I am so low to the ground and worried I’ll never be able to be more upright! I fell many times but once really badly (if my husband hadn’t been there I could’ve broken something) and I was so scared and shaking. I can’t seem to balance without the skates coming out from under my feet and taking me, it takes ALL my focus to think through each movement and I’m just so worried I’m the only one who finds it THIS HARD. Please tell me I’m not the only one 😓

      You're definitely not alone!! I've been trying (inconsistently) since November 2019, and it's still not easy.
      Best things you can do is get protective gear, skate on smoother surfaces (like a tennis court) and learn how to get up from the floor! Most of the fear of falling is being afraid you can't get back up. You got this!

    • @bshenc4026

      Today was my second day of skating. I have no physical clue how to skate, besides the tips I’ve seen on UA-cam. I’m currently skating at the sports court at my apartment complex (it used to be a tennis court). I literally could not stand up with out holding on to the fence. I’ve been working on keeping my feet in a T formation so I can stabilize when standing. I also don’t stand straight up. I been keeping my hips low and knees bent cause I feel more in control. The biggest obstacle so far has been the fear. The fear of falling has kept me from trying skating for so long. I had to get it through my head that I WILL fall. But having protective gear and learning how to fall properly has made me feel more confident. By the way, I’m 5’6 and like 230 lbs so the thought of skating as a bigger girl was scary. It’s been so fun though...just keep trying. If you or anyone wants some virtual support while we are learning this new skill just dm me on here or instagram (@avatar_aura). I would love to find fellow beginner skaters

    Just got my first pair of skates today and i practiced balance by pushing myself with my hands from table to table under an awning at the park. My feet were parallel to each other and i was hunched over like a gorilla but my shoulders were still pointing forward and out and my chin was up. Only fell once today! I feel really unstable staggering though. Maybe it'll get better with practice???

    • @ThatGirlKris1
      @ThatGirlKris1 3 роки тому +2

      I haven’t tried skating yet (so take this with a grain of salt) but I’m assuming it has to do with being balanced. If you are rolling forward there is probably more weight at the front of ur body rather than at the back so maybe try pulling ur body back a little

  • @piplup10203854
    @piplup10203854 3 роки тому +3

    I'm working on this but I tried to wear both of my skates and move forward but as soon as I try both my feet flex left and right outward and then if I try to correct it flexes the other way and there is a lot of pain. My skates have practically zero comfort on the insoles. Do you think that could be from my boot being too big? When I measured my foot at the store it was measured at close to a size 10 like a centimeter from a 10 but I can't cinch down my skates super tight, I don't feel my heel lift but my foot flexes quite severely left and right as I tried to balance. I can stand upright in proper posture and with my feet facing forward, the problem came from as soon as I tried to move from a stationary position, I took one step and it flexes hard and my feet hurt to the point I wanted to throw my skates off it was that bad. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as it hurts so badly. The only time it doesn't hurt, like when I do one shoe one skate is when I'm moving forward in a straight line and I got my proper posture like I'm upright with my core engaged slightly and my knee line right over my toes and if I'm moving and don't budge my foot at all that is when there is no pain but it's really tough for me to get that for anymore than a couple feet forward and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to start rolling when I wear both without having both my feet flex all over the place and cause pain. I'm practicing on carpet as I don't have my protective gear in yet.
