Can’t wait to try these out, I’ve been having a hard time getting the hang of rollerskating but I want to keep trying. Thank you for this video I really appreciated the effort of the cute pink string lights in the parking lot 🤩😆
Ok, this video really helped unlock some things for me. I thought I was a decent beginner because I had no trouble rolling, turning or stopping in multiple ways. But I was having trouble progressing into trickier foot work. I now realize that I was doing some intuitive things that were not letting me move to the next level. These drills have given me a better foundation.
A few of these are just what I needed! I’ve been been struggling with my dominant foot being too dominant. I don’t know how to put it in roller skate terms but if I were on a skateboard I want to push goofy but ride and do footwork regular. It’s giving me a total mindfk on the coping in my skates! Also, your videos are aesthetic af, thank you so much for putting such effort into them 💖
Simon you are doing this whole content creator really well. I’ve seen your account a few times while researching roller stuff but now I see so much more of your content, great video ideas, really nice shots and your nailing the subject and the teaching thing too. Wow, congrats really 🌟🌟🌟
I just saw this and wanted to say thank you. It really means a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to say such kind words and for just being you/here!
AW YAY! That makes me so happy to hear 🥰 That's what I make them for, it really is encouraging to hear they helped! I'll keep making them so I'll share more to try in the future. Thanks Gaby, I appreciate youu
RIGHT ON! I learned to sk8 on front wheels only while rolling backwards...that way my brain knew if I got off on balance, I could just put my toe-stops down if necessary...✌🤘🖖
Good tips. I noticed that I was favoring my dominant leg as the lead and I have started switching to help strengthen both legs and learn the muscle memory in both legs. Getting better quickly!
I skated when I was a kid (and had less fears of breaking bones and being in pain) and picked up skating again this quarantine like so many others and this is exactly what I need to take me from just going forwards and backwards and get into some transitions and actual coool stuff!!!
I can't tell you how much your videos have helped me understand specific moves. I love the way you break them down. I was struggling with skating backwards and the second I watched your video it all clicked. These are also great drills. Thank you!
After combing through UA-cam for tutorials, i find that this video has the best drills for a beginner! Well explained, doable, different difficulty levels and progressions.. well done!
Thank you for these beginner videos! They’ve been so helpful as I’m getting started. I was curious about how much time people spend on drills like this vs skating around to build strength? And how much time a week people get out and skate?
Thank you so much for your beginner drills and corrective skills videos :~) I feel like you really break it down to the basics unlike any other skate youtuber and explain them so well!!
Love this! Thank you so much. I'm returning next week to skating after a nasty ankle break from skating so this will give me some drills to work on to get my confidence back. Thanks again xxx
You are welcome! I'm so happy you liked it ❤️ Ouch, that must have sucked! I'm excited for you to get back into it, I know it's hard to be away from roller skating after an injury. I had shoulder surgery in 2019 and wrote a few articles for Dogdays Magazine online on coming back to skating to pass on some encouragement for fellow skaters if you want some recovery reads! 🛼 How I went through shoulder surgery and back to roller skating dogdaysmagazine.com/roller-skate-shoulder-injury/ 🛼 How To Get Your Skate ‘Mojo’ Back After An Injury dogdaysmagazine.com/get-your-skate-mojo-back/ 🛼 Mindset Mantras dogdaysmagazine.com/mindset-mantras/ Wishing you the BEST OF LUCK coming back! @@simon_slays55 I've just read the articles and they're super helpful. Thank you so much. A skater friend convinced me to go to a skate party on Sunday night and I have been worried about going but now I think I can go and I don't have to skate and just catch up with my skate friends and support them. Thank you so much. So glad I commented on this. Yay! Xxx
Wow I just subscribe today and binge watching your vids. You got so much better from the first video. Nice job. And thank you for all of your tips and tricks.
Your videos are literally the best, a whole lot of info and great instructions. I just started skating and I learned so much in your beginner video. Saved me a whole lot of falling.
this was really helpful! more drill videos would be great! i would also love to see a full tutorial on the toe stop 180s you did in a different video (can’t remember the name). love your channel! 💖💖
Thanks for the great drills. I'm 42, getting back on quads for the first time in over 20 years. I need this material. Also, is it harder to skate in customs? You must need really strong ankles.
BIG LIKE! thank you for taking your time making this detailed tutorial. I am going to play this every time I practice and do it over and over again until I'm really confident at it. Thank you so much
I've arrived a little late to the skate party 😂but I wanted to thank you so much for the content! Best practice drills i've seen on YT. NEW subie! will follow you on IG as well.
Hai Maam, My name is Bhaskar from India I want to now I am 45 years of age and was very much interested in learning roller skates but .. some times dreams remain always dream but now i have purchased roller skates can i learn skates at this age maam by seeing videos online
I'm 41 and picking it back up again. You can learn it at any age. Take your time, wear a helmet and at least wrist guards to protect yourself and have fun!
Simon Slays 55 I am a new skater and I your videos are the holy grail. Also love your approach - it’s very methodical and you low key teach physics in all of your videos - keep up the great content 😘
I'm in love you your videos and tips! Really!!! I believe these tips are gonna be a game change for me, cause iv'e been trying already some movements and I feel like I needed these background before trying them out. I'm looking forward to put my skates on and follow all of your tips! :)
Heyyyy for some reason my wheels seem to get stuck on the pavement when trying to do the snake move. Do you think that it could be my wheels? They’re 58mm 82a durometer.
Hi!! My trucks aren’t super loose either; I can give you some tips though! With the S’ one thing that helps is getting a lil momentum rolling and keeping your wheels down the whole time- use that momentum to push into the S’! I kinda bounce up and down into them to keep them going. Hope this helps :)
Hi do you have tutorials on how to stop? Haha I'm struggling on how should I stop 😅, Whenever I used my toe stop it feels like I was going to fall 😰😢 I don't know what to do? Thank you 😊
I got you! Thank you for your comment/tutorial request. I just posted a new video to my channel demonstrating/teaching five different ways to stop on rollerskates without using your toes stops!
Love these drills! Quick question though, when I’m switching I’m losing significant forward momentum- is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Like I am able to switch the weight but am having some trouble doing the extra fun foot S because I slow down so much. Just curious, thanks for the amazing educational content!
Haha. I’m just trying to stay vertical on skates. I used to be pretty good when I was younger. I’m just getting back to it . I was away from it for 30 years... I thought it would be like riding a bike and we’ll, it isn’t at all... need to relearn your balance!!!
Not really understanding how to do the S-shape without lifting my wheels at all. They resist and make a lot of friction, I lose my balance if I don’t lift! Can someone explain it a bit more please?
You never ever want your stance that far apart. Ever. Your feet should be no more than a few inches apart, not even hip width. That’s just one of the many inaccuracies you’re “teaching” here. What you’re actually doing is showing sure-fire ways to injure yourself. I’m gold level RSA, competitive skater in freestyle, loops, solo, and partners. You’re trying to teach something you aren’t qualified to teach. You are going to be responsible for the injuries of anyone who watches this and follows you poor “instruction”. If you aren’t qualified in a subject, especially one that can cause permanent damage, why on earth are you “ teaching “ it?
Sis really brought out Xmas lights for this video. Love the dedication and effort!
aw thank you for appreciating :) you're all the best!
Can’t wait to try these out, I’ve been having a hard time getting the hang of rollerskating but I want to keep trying. Thank you for this video I really appreciated the effort of the cute pink string lights in the parking lot 🤩😆
Don't give up!
How are you doing now?
Yeah how are you doing a year later? Hope you found time to work at it!

2:55 mins into the video and I’m just now grasping the type of skates you have on! They are 🔥!

I just saw this and wanted to say thank you. It really means a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to say such kind words and for just being you/here!
These drills are so good! Definitely beginner friendly (which I am) and so not intimidating. I wrote them all done and can't wait to practise them :))
I like how you stay lower to the ground.. it makes so much sense... I love your videos.
Your drill videos have honestly helped so much!
AW YAY! That makes me so happy to hear 🥰 That's what I make them for, it really is encouraging to hear they helped! I'll keep making them so I'll share more to try in the future. Thanks Gaby, I appreciate youu
I never thought that staggered position would help me a lot, in this way I could do toe manuals while I was movimg forward!!! I'm super excited
UA-cam recomended this video, i loved it ♥ new subscriber totally love your energy
Thank you so much!
These vids are so well made and are such a treat to watch!

I am going to try this again this afternoon. I love how clear you explain all the moves. Love form a beginner roller skater from the Netherlands! xx

Yes you can! I am 58 and have learned how to skate from watching videos.
I'm 41 and picking it back up again. You can learn it at any age. Take your time, wear a helmet and at least wrist guards to protect yourself and have fun!
Oooo love these tips

what is the size of your wheels? size and hardness?
Very good video!!!💚💚💚
my names brianna too! 🤗 where did you get your skates? love the color!
this is so helpful!!
Heyyyy for some reason my wheels seem to get stuck on the pavement when trying to do the snake move. Do you think that it could be my wheels? They’re 58mm 82a durometer.
Hiii 👋🏾 , I tried doing the s but it’s not working out for me 🥺 should I loosen my trucks more ?
Hi!! My trucks aren’t super loose either; I can give you some tips though! With the S’ one thing that helps is getting a lil momentum rolling and keeping your wheels down the whole time- use that momentum to push into the S’! I kinda bounce up and down into them to keep them going. Hope this helps :)
How do you keep rolling to do these? I just am at a standstill if I don't skate
You can skate into them! I recommend it! I just filmed them in a small skating space, you don't have to limit yourself
If I’m not able to do an S does that mean I’m not distributing my weight correctly or that my trucks are too tight?
Hi do you have tutorials on how to stop? Haha I'm struggling on how should I stop 😅, Whenever I used my toe stop it feels like I was going to fall 😰😢 I don't know what to do? Thank you 😊
I got you! Thank you for your comment/tutorial request. I just posted a new video to my channel demonstrating/teaching five different ways to stop on rollerskates without using your toes stops!

I don't understand the toe toe manuals, they are extremely hard and I'm too scared to try them without holding anything around me...
Lol na but what type of XXXXXXXXL knee pads are you wearing? I need those in my life!😅🥴😩
But thank you for this, it helped a ton.🌺♥️
GOOD EYE HAHA! They're the @killer187pads Vert Pads! I never feel anything no matter how hard I fall and they've lasted me YEARS
To me the first drill is like an entrance to cross overs and cross pulls
Haha. I’m just trying to stay vertical on skates. I used to be pretty good when I was younger. I’m just getting back to it . I was away from it for 30 years... I thought it would be like riding a bike and we’ll, it isn’t at all... need to relearn your balance!!!
Riiiight?!!! I was almost pro as a kid (not really lol) but coming back to it at 41 and it is like learning to walk all over again!
Not really understanding how to do the S-shape without lifting my wheels at all. They resist and make a lot of friction, I lose my balance if I don’t lift! Can someone explain it a bit more please?
i figured it out everyone! i had to much weight on my front foot :)
You’re too cute! I can’t wait to practice these 💙
Aw yay! I hope you have fun! :)
Came for the skating, stayed for the parking lot fairy lights ^_^
wherein I just learned I naturally skate "goofy" lol
did you crash into the wall ?
💖💖💖
I like that skate space more than I like my kids atm😂😂
For some reason I can do footwork, but for the life of me cannot figure out transition, like simply turning around
❣️❣️❣️❣️
the music was too loud to hear you talking. gave me a headache especially at the beginning
Is it weird that my arms are so sore after skating? 😅
Yes my deltoids in my arms burn after lol , it’s a whole body workout. Take an Aleve before skating it really helps
Very tai chi.
It still takes FOREVER for the instructions to start so… come on let’s go.
