In Uncharted 1 we're lead to believe it was an inheritance, and just a means to get a treasure that ended up not being there, which is why he left the ring behind. In the flashback we play in Uncharted 3, we are shown he took the ring because he believed it was his birth right, and that the ring had a lot of value to him outside of being a means to a treasure. This was my favorite in the series. The set pieces were unreal. The sinking ship level in particular was insane and the Arabia setting thereafter was gorgeous. Totally underrated in retrospect aside uncharted 4. Super commentary bro. subbed and liked.
Ive always admired these games from a technological standpoint. A lot of people have gome around on this particular installment in recent years. Great to see and hear.
Now i didnt play the uncharted series until about a year or two ago and i stsrted with the 4th game so meeting sully and seeing him all but adopt nate is what sold me on him in general and then to see him in the rest of them was the icing on the cake.
I remember being so excited for this game and coming home from school and playing the multiplayer beta before release. The multiplayer was honestly really fun and I loved the set pieces in this game and also getting to see how Nate and sully met was cool.
Even with some inconsistencies in the story telling, Uncharted 3 is, still to this day, an amazing and enjoyable game you can dive in! It's also the only one were you can throw back grenades (shame the others don't have that...)
I think Uncharted 2 is the most important one for the evolution of the series and Uncharted 4 is probably the best one, but Uncharted 3 will always be my favorite.
Totally agreed @rukathekid7853 , Uncharted 2 did OUTDO UC 1 by MIIIIIIIIIILES , like MIILES , in EVERY direction so it was more impoetant BUT Uncharted 3 DID outdo Uncharted 2 even tho the enemies dont flinc when u shoot them , which I dint why they did but oh well apart from that the game is better in ANY way , APART from cohisiveness , but that can he overlooked with ALL the improvements that were made EVEN feom 2 and YEAH Uncharted 4 is basically THE BEST in the series and it OUTDOES any game in the series because it TAKES evey part of the game in the series and CRANKS it up to 11 , for real
Man I fucking love that Subway promo , like Nate is getting on the plane to go to the desert, then he’s running from a flood of water on that ship, hanging on tight with rope and his drink then crashing through a window ending with: “Subway. Where Winners Eat! Oww. That just cracks me up every time.
This game consumed me in my teens. I was so hooked from one up to 3 but the multiplayer was my second home. I was so dam good at it naturally and everything was so good to me. Music gameplay and visuals
Not gonna lie J I don’t think there is any way for uncharted 3 to be better than I remember, this was such an amazing game to play growing up, very dear to me
For some reason, when you talk about the nostalgic side of the game, and your personal memories, those are way more entertaining than the actual review. I honestly don't care much for "reviews," since I already know how I feel about the game. But I absolutely love the personal stories/memories people share.
Uncharted 3 has been my favorite. Ever since Nathan woke up to be face to face with that pirate leader in that ship graveyard, this game became what may very well be my favorite video game. From that point onwards, it’s simply the most intense thing ever. You’re not quite alone, as you’re surrounded by an immeasurable amount of killers. They’re all looking for YOU, whilst you have to fend them off as waves of them descend onto wherever it is you are. Then, the storm came.
I grew up with this game, always played the demo as a kid whenever my dad went to electronics store and whatnot. It has always been my favorite Uncharted game, maybe not perfect with the story flaws and the villains not being as physically imposing, but probably the best the gameplay has ever felt (with the exception of the stealth in 4)
Banger after banger. Your formula for content creation is as cohesive as uncharted 2 haha. Really appreciate the steady flow of great work. Wondering what the next franchise(s) will be.
Finally after 10 years a content creator recognizes the greatness that is Uncharted 3 not only this game was amazing in its single player but it had some of the most addicting and fun multiplayer and co-op experiences ever so much customization, fan service for the co-op, and wonderful mechanics. Its a shame the servers got shut in 2021 but passionate fans are making special servers for it and they made great progress you can play u3 multiplayer again on emulators. My favorite of the 4
I believe this was one of the flagship games on the PS3 console to use the 3D TV feature, and its one of the best examples of a 3D game done right! Its actually the only way I'll play it using my 3D TV instead of the PS4 Remaster collection version because of how amazing it looks in 3D
This was actually my very first Uncharted game! I borrowed it from a teacher at school and just fell in love with the mechanics and especially the story! I remember feeling the exact same way as Nate did when Sully, supposedly, was shot after Nate drank from the fountain near the end. The music is another aspect that stuck with me! To the point that, as I type this, I have some of it playing in my head from memory! There are SO many memorable lines too! Nate, Sully and Cutter all get in some hilarious lines that always get a laugh out of me, despite playing this game so many times! I first played it in 2017 and since then, I’ve played and beaten it… I wanna say close to a dozen times now! Most of that was on PS3 and a few more runs on PS4 when I finally got that system in 2021. Maybe I was late to the party, but I don’t care! It became my favourite game of the series… Until I played Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End… THAT was an AMAZING experience to the point I double-dipped for the PS5 upgrade as one of my first games on the system when I recently bought a PS5! Looking forward to the Uncharted 4 review!
For me uncharted 3 had the best characters even though they were in for half the game, the puzzles and gameplay was amazing (especially the throwing back the grenades),best setting and GODAMN THIS SOUNDTRACK SLAPS SO HARD and it's the most memorable in the series. I also LOVED the split screen and the FREE online multiplayer which was one of the best online games l have ever played. This game is an example of how a masterpiece must be like!! Great story, fun gameplay, dynamic music and AMAZING multiplayer!!! I freaking love this game so much and it saddens me so much that they shut down the uncharted 2,3 and tlou on ps3... I wish they would put all the extra stuff on the remastered version...For shame on you Naughty Dog!!!
Got the notification for this video on my phone and it said Uncharted 3 is better than you and i thought damn, not the actual title unfortunately, but a great video as always.
I was immediately on board with 3 having had so many fond memories of 2. Ended up finishing it relatively fast, like a day or so, and had a solid experience but after the huge leap forward that 2 was it didn't make the same sort of impact. I think it released within a week or so of Batman Arkham City so most of my time ended up going towards that after the initial Uncharted 3 play through.
I play these games yearly. Uncharted 3 has grown on me. Up to syria the game is rough But that builds up a brilliant story. The set peices are outstanding. I probably prefer it over U2 for them moments. The whole plane secrence is excellent.
On the subject of multiplayer, I liked the June Beta that had the intro and outro cutscenes. That was cool.....then they completely removed them in the Subway early access/final release of the game (sigh)
I remember playing this game and saying how can any game top these graphics. But uncharted 4 did that eventually. uncharted 3 was that good for its time it really pushed gameplay and graphics that we never really seen before much.
The title triggered me bc it was immediately awesome and cherished by my 14 yo self. I got the special edition with the statue, belt buckle, and necklace for Christmas that year
I love that Harrison Ford is just playing Uncharted 3. Funny because Indiana Jones was a major inspiration for Uncharted during its development. Can’t get anymore on the nose than that.
I remember skipping school the day it came out to play it, only to feel the same as you in the beginning of this video... maybe I'll give it a try again after this now. I'm curious.
U2 and U3 had one of my favorite online experiences ever. As great as the stories were, the online team death matches became my favorite part of the game where I sunk hundreds of hours into. Although U4 online was decent, it didn’t capture the magic of the others for me.
Bought collection for blast from the past. Skipped 1 and completed 2 & 3 in one week. Really enjoyed it. Like 2 & 3 both the same. I think the pirate mission is amazing. Ship graveyard is spooky and Really exciting 🚢
1-4 they’re all masterpieces. I can’t play one of the games unless I go through them all bc I want that entire taste of adventure. Easily my favorite game franchise.
Charlie is right though, phone contracts are ripoffs. I'll gladly pay 35 bucks a month for talk instantly and still be able to do everything a contract phone does.
the 2 is and will always be my favourite. i had bought a ps3 that came with it back in the days and i had no idea what it was. i open the game like 1 years and a half after i bought the ps3 telling myself "lets try that shitty thing that came with the ps3". WOW. i was so blown away by what i was missing out! it became my favourite video game of all time until The Last of Us came out. Uncharted still my second favourite game close behind TLoU. But yeah the second will always have this special place in my heart because it was so out of nowhere for me when i first play this game i was totally expecting nothing and turns out to be Uncharted 2, imagine.
I loved the uncharted games at release but for some reason they are even better than in my memories when i replayed them not so long ago Maybe because i noticed more details and then i got into history between times
Uncharted 3 kinda let me down after 2. I’m playing the series through for the first time and everything good about two got used in 3, but either got overused or worse. The set pieces were amazing, but the platforming was clunky and moving in and out of cover felt sticky. The combat was improved with more cqc animations. But the gunplay was less impactful because enemies don’t respond to being shot until the third or fourth shot. Drakes Fortune had better gun play tbh. My favorite part of the game is seeing how NDI evolved as far as storytelling moments are concerned. Everything between Drake and Sully was awesome. But everything else in the story fell flat because the other characters were so uninteresting. There’s tons of storytelling and mechanical issues in 3 for me. I 100%ed it and looking forward to going back to 100% 2. I understand waiting until 3 came out when you were in to the series in the beginning changes your perspective. Because I’m late to the party and playing them all back to back. I did get to play 1 a little when I was younger, but I was always an Xbox kid. I never got to play a bunch of PS titles until my cousin came to live with me and introduced me to the PS2 & 3. My opinion doesn’t matter as much as players that were there from the beginning.
This was my first uncharted and it will allows hold a special place in my heart. I remember playing the split screen mode with my cousins all the time and having a blast with it.
Uncharted 3 is my favorite U go to so many places, desert, Yemen, Syria and France i like the variety and the action scenes more than uncharted 2’s And you get alot of Sully which is something i really like
Uncharted 3 is a great game and Ive always thought of it that way even after countless replays. Jak 3 is also picked on for no reason because it tries to be exactly like the second one but improve everything. Uncharted did just the same and in many forms it did it better than 2. Just because U2s story worked better, doesnt mean U3 as a game is crap.
Talbit was definitely supposed to be a Jinn or something along those lines But clearly they scrapped it with his different abilities It’s a shame It would have been so cool to see somthing like that fleshed out
As a kid I played the uncharted games out of order first I played UNCHARTED 2 then UNCHARTED 1 and then UNCHARTED 3 …yeah strange order , and all of those games I bought them in my local blockbuster back in 2012
I feel like Uncharted 3 has the best set-up narrative of the trilogy, with just absolutely no payoff. I remember feeling like if a few things were just a little bit different, it would have been a lot better than it was. When I first played through Uncharted 3, and when I replayed it a few years later, I remember being SINCERELY impressed and excited about that first half of the game, learning a bit more about Nate's backstory, the interesting set-up with Talbot's strange otherworldly powers, it was all so interesting and then it went nowhere.
I remember hating the difficulty. I just remember being behind cover and not understanding why j was getting hit. Then realised a bad guy has circled around me and was just standing out in the open shooting me from behind. Wtf?
Replaying 3 now. The game is the hardest in the series by far. Almost to a fault. It is an amazing game, though. The set pieces are the best in the series and the story is better than most remember. Also, how ND achieved those graphics on PS3 is mindblowing.
Never finished Uncharted 3. I had the original model of ps3 with the ps2 built in and I remember it died of heat death less than halfway through, around where you're kidnapped by pirates.
Uncharted 3 has better shooting than Uncharted 2? Now that’s a hot take! I don’t think there’s anything that it does better which is why it is such an easy target as black sheep of the franchise. Upon release the shooting was somewhat broken, to the point where ND invited players from a popular message board to come in and show them what was wrong. A patch was then released but it never felt quite right. The trilogy collection went a longer way to adjust this but IMO there’s still something a little weird about it. Could be the relationship to AI & enemy hit boxes & animation. Story wise, UC2 is also much better paced. The action set pieces in 3, as you point out, felt very tacked on. I loved that clip you showed of the developers confirming that it was indeed the story itself which was tacked on. I think all games are incredibly hard to make, UC3 is no different, it just shows signs of that difficulty in the end more than one would hope. It feels (artfully) scotch taped together.
@@MrCarpediem6 I do think something happened behind the scenes. For Hennig to walk (or be made to walk?) from such a solid position at a solid studio, coming off some of the best games ever doesn't seem like something that just happens organically. Shit got weird. And I've had a sour taste about the ND mgmt and Druckman ever since. Uncharted 4 was a high quality product, but was missing the fun pacing and energy that made the series what it is. And that's what you get from a writer and director.
@@CalvinCrack I think so.. and I think Drukman eventually left UC3, so he could focus on Last of Us. When the same thing happened in UC4, I think Drukman finally pulled the Thanos line and said "let me do it myself"..
Apparently they did that on purpose to avoid the players stay on the same cover and make the gameplay more "dynamic".
This game truly blew me away. It definitely kept the ball rolling after the excellent uncharted 2
I think Uncharted 2 is the most important one for the evolution of the series and Uncharted 4 is probably the best one, but Uncharted 3 will always be my favorite.
2 > 3 > 4
Your break down of franchise has been very enjoyable.
This marathon is outstanding J! Looking forward to May’s videos champion.
Love your PS3 nostalgia throwbacks!
Remember when Nathan was promoting Subway while getting on the plane over the desert? That’s my favorite moment of the game!
hearing uncharted 3s opening again after 10 plus years of owning a ps3 still brings back memories till this day
0:30 makes me wonder why the ad was this video, no longer
I hate when people presume to know what I think, what I remember. It's better than YOU remember it, maybe, but it's exactly the same as I remember it.
My favorite of the 4
Mind telling me where you got those posters? 0:19
It became my favourite game of the series…
Until I played Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End… THAT was an AMAZING experience to the point I double-dipped for the PS5 upgrade as one of my first games on the system when I recently bought a PS5! Looking forward to the Uncharted 4 review!
Man I still don't have a PS4.......
My favorite game of all time and the reason I now work in the game industry.
Uncharted 3 was my first Uncharted so I have so much nostalgia for this one!
Whilst I do prefer uncharted 2 (it is my second favourite game of all time) I still love 3 and think it is amazing!
I played it recently. It's my favorite favorite out of the Trilogy❤
Still have to play Uncharted 4 though
Got the notification for this video on my phone and it said Uncharted 3 is better than you and i thought damn, not the actual title unfortunately, but a great video as always.
How fitting that its about Snubway
I was immediately on board with 3 having had so many fond memories of 2. Ended up finishing it relatively fast, like a day or so, and had a solid experience but after the huge leap forward that 2 was it didn't make the same sort of impact. I think it released within a week or so of Batman Arkham City so most of my time ended up going towards that after the initial Uncharted 3 play through.
Uncharted 3 was my first Uncharted game and first PS3 game, and I’ve always defended it.
I like your set up J
Love your videos J
I play these games yearly. Uncharted 3 has grown on me. Up to syria the game is rough But that builds up a brilliant story. The set peices are outstanding. I probably prefer it over U2 for them moments. The whole plane secrence is excellent.
Uncharted 3 was my childhood I remember the story and action the game makes you feel its incredible 🎉
On the subject of multiplayer, I liked the June Beta that had the intro and outro cutscenes. That was cool.....then they completely removed them in the Subway early access/final release of the game (sigh)
I need a mod for uncharted 3 that has Nathan holding a subway sandwich and a drink in game.
Uncharted 3's theme feels so alive✨️🤌🏻
I find it baffling that they released uncharted 4 on PC but not the first 3. I need these games on my Steam Deck asap!
Where do you get those posters in the back
I wish a Sub sub machine gun that shoots sodas was an unlockable for Uncharted 3. It woulda sold billions.
I remember skipping school the day it came out to play it, only to feel the same as you in the beginning of this video... maybe I'll give it a try again after this now. I'm curious.
The desert chase scene in this game was iconic
I really loved the multiplayer, especially che co-op adventures. It's sad to think it's gone forever.
U2 and U3 had one of my favorite online experiences ever. As great as the stories were, the online team death matches became my favorite part of the game where I sunk hundreds of hours into. Although U4 online was decent, it didn’t capture the magic of the others for me.
I like your setup dude
I dont think it will be better than i remember, because its my second favorite game of all time, and i played it last time less than 6 months ago.
Bought collection for blast from the past. Skipped 1 and completed 2 & 3 in one week. Really enjoyed it. Like 2 & 3 both the same. I think the pirate mission is amazing. Ship graveyard is spooky and Really exciting 🚢
I love the setpieces in this game, but I still rate this behind 2 and 4.
I loved the uncharted games at release but for some reason they are even better than in my memories when i replayed them not so long ago
Maybe because i noticed more details and then i got into history between times
Im sure someone else has mentioned this but the voice actor that played Charlie had to leave production to film the Hobbit.
The debate as to whether Uncharted 2 or 3 is better, is just as tough as "Raiders of the Lost Ark" vs "The Last Crusade"
Uncharted 3 is my favorite
U go to so many places, desert, Yemen, Syria and France i like the variety and the action scenes more than uncharted 2’s
And you get alot of Sully which is something i really like
Uncharted 3 is a great game and Ive always thought of it that way even after countless replays. Jak 3 is also picked on for no reason because it tries to be exactly like the second one but improve everything. Uncharted did just the same and in many forms it did it better than 2. Just because U2s story worked better, doesnt mean U3 as a game is crap.
Loved this review! Been a fan for a long time.
Do you ever plan to cover the InFamous franchise?
Uncharted 3 is my favorite. I think its because sully gets the most screen time. I was so pissed when sully "died."
I didn't play the games when they were first released, but I never thought that Uncharted 2 was somehow special compared to 1 and 3.
Well 2 is special because it's not as infuriating as 1 and not as sad and boring as 3
Talbit was definitely supposed to be a Jinn or something along those lines
But clearly they scrapped it with his different abilities
It’s a shame
It would have been so cool to see somthing like that fleshed out
Uncharted 3 is actually my fav uncharted game
This makes me wanna play Uncharted 3 again
As a kid I played the uncharted games out of order first I played UNCHARTED 2 then UNCHARTED 1 and then UNCHARTED 3 …yeah strange order , and all of those games I bought them in my local blockbuster back in 2012
Ngl this is my favorite uncharted game including uncharted 4 I sometimes even replay uncharted 3
Wtf?
This might've been my favorite if the pacing wasn't so bad in the middle. The chateau and citadel levels are some of the best in the series
Maybe have the pirate level as standalone DLC.
Can't wait for Golden Abyss. :D
Replaying 3 now. The game is the hardest in the series by far. Almost to a fault. It is an amazing game, though. The set pieces are the best in the series and the story is better than most remember. Also, how ND achieved those graphics on PS3 is mindblowing.
God I love uncharted my fav game series and uncharted 3 is definitely my fave in the series
Never finished Uncharted 3. I had the original model of ps3 with the ps2 built in and I remember it died of heat death less than halfway through, around where you're kidnapped by pirates.
Never finished uncharted 3 but I did finish uncharted 2 and 4 loving both
Uncharted 3 has better shooting than Uncharted 2?
Wasn't this the one where Henning and Drukman et al butted heads?
I think Henning liked a darker story, but Drkman anted to save the darker storytelling for the last of us?
I just finished the series for the first time and as a newcomer in 2024, I thought 3 was the best one.
