I have the Hyperion tempo. I always like to have a firm and relatively low stack daily trainer in my rotation. It’s nice to have some road feel and flex in one of my shoes. It looks like the new Hyperion has less stack though? Only thing I didn’t like about the tempo was the stretch laces, I hate stretch laces! Still got plenty of life in mine and it sounds like no real changes with the 2 to make it worth ditching mine and upgrading. Also love the Escalante racer - that’s another firm flexible crazy light trainer.
The favorite shoe I have for track workouts and faster runs of say 10K or less. If my form is good the shoe feels great. Whatever "firmness" means (it's a feel, and therefore subjective), I only notice it when I'm not running with good form. I actually think the nature of the shoe gives me valuable feedback to keep my form, and I love the light weight.
Their's also the Cyclone 2 that occupies this very same space by a little known company called Topo. 6.9 oz.(m 9) Full plateless Pebax midsole thats fairly stable. And Topo makes some of the best uppers in the running industry, and Cyclone 2 is no exception. Don't sleep on this shoe. It's so good!
Looks like a nice shoe for long runs! Not a lot of options for people who don’t like max cushion. I’ve been doing all my long runs (28km last week) in Kinvara 13’s and they’ve been fantastic!
Had two pairs of Tempos and agree great shoe for speed work and rotation. I also ran 2 marathons in them and enjoyed the ride. I am not too speedy but these felt light and fast over 26.2 without being too firm. Will be interested to see if this update performs the same.
Before the Hyperion Tempo, there was just the Hyperion. I presumed this just replaced the original Hyperion, and the Hyperion Max replaces the Hyperion Tempo and…okay now I’m really confused. I tried a pair of these (thank you Brooks and parkrun!), didn’t find them firm , but then, I am heavier than you. They are ridiculously light, but I could see they would flatten out for me in the midfoot after a couple of months. I found them closer to the Puma Liberate Nitro, but with a lower drop and a bit wider.
Looks like a mild update for the Tempo(which were great). Would you recommend Takumi Sens over these to someone used to Hyperion Tempos? Thanks for the review👍
Is this a upgrade for a running match shoe compared to the ghost 14 im using for training and matches, does it give enouf confort as i have had surgery in my knee 4 times
@@FordyRuns heard you mention the Mach x from hoka, i found them to be an excellent shoe nothing compared to the X2's as i thought they would be especially with similar foam etc but would you recommend these brooks for a daily trainer?
I really enjoy original tempo, it is firm but stable and definitely not for easy run unless you have strong feet. I feel the skechers foam is better compared to this foam
Good afternoon. Thanks for this information about the new Hyperion. Like to Fordy. Another comparison: Brooks hyperion - Kinvara 14. What do you think??. A nice day for everyone. 🌞🏃🌞
@@FordyRuns amazing thank you. Sounds like anything greater than the 10k then will need to use the Hyperion Max. In two minds if I should just grab that instead. But really want a lightweight one that pushes me and I love the brooks fit
I will be missing this shoe like a third eye in my forehead. Only tempo shoe and not for much else? I guess we have yet another museum sample from Brooks. Honestly not even particularly impressed with the design either. Sorry Chris, I have to disagree with you on that one. These days if your shoe is not exceptional in any category it will be more and more difficult to have commercial success.
@@paddywiggle I love Speedgoat for all trails, I never had a need to buy any other shoe for trails once I start using it. Just a newer model, and I don't see much difference between e.g. v2 and v4. This shoe works for me on every terrain other than the road. You can use it even on the road, but there are much better shoes for that. My current favourite for the road is Hoka Rocket X2, I purchased it almost by accident, not a big fan of Hoka road shoes.

I have a lot of respect for Brooks sending you shoes when you have been very honest about their shoes in the past and continue to be.
Yeah honestly they are so good you gotta love them

Should do as very similar

How does it compare to the original which was quite soft under foot… much softer ride then the Max?

Takumi Sen is a higher stack, bouncier shoe. I think TS has an edge on this.
Tough call depends if you want some carbon

Been looking to add another pair off shoes to the collection, wear the ghosts 14s as a daily trainer and they are a brilliant trainer
Yeah these will compliment them

Ghost 14 gets slaughtered on UA-cam but their very decent actually 👌
@@longshlongsilver293 best all round shoes in my opinion
In this space there is also Saucony Sinister as well. Very lightweight shoe.
Good shout

I would love to see a adios8 vs Hyperion vs Mach 5 battle of the the non plated tempo/ budget mid distance racer video 🤔😍😍
i have kinvara vs hyperion coming

Great review Chris. I love a firm shoe. Any good as a 5k/10k race shoe do you reckon ?
Sure go for it
