Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Galveston, San Antonio, El Paso, all of them are more "Texan" than Austin, not politically, but general mood/tone.

Also if we want to go more into Virginia history, more Presidents have been born here then anywhere else, in fact so many of our first presidents were Virginian that either the First 5 presidents or Presidents 3-5 are collectively referred to as "The Virginian Dynasty," I'm pretty sure no other state has a Presidential Dynasty. The Southern bit of the state is also not a total disgrace as it has let's see Jamestown the First Permanent British settlement in America, Yorktown the place where the Last major Battle of the Revolution occured. Also if we want to go more into Virginia history, more Presidents have been born here then anywhere else, in fact so many of our first presidents were Virginian that either the First 5 presidents or Presidents 3-5 are collectively referred to as "The Virginian Dynasty," I'm pretty sure no other state has a Presidential Dynasty. Patrick Henry gave his "Give me Liberty of Give me Death Speech" here, and Virginia throughout history has Trumped Maryland in terms of Importance.

As a former resident of MD, we love DC and would love them to be a part of our state (VA can frick off, DC used to be part of MD, so we have a better claim than VA), but also DC totally deserves to be it's own state if it wants to.
To be blunt, most of NYS including city people and upstate, consider NYC a separate entiry anyway, and wish they would be so. :p
