Have you ever thought about AFK Arena?
It just got a huge update and it would be cool if any of it got also transferred to AFK Journey.
bro i was looking for AFK journey content to watch cuz im addicted, and this guy just appeared outta nowhere LMAO, and I was like wtf thats mtashed??
Fobmaster! :O
Seriouly same!!
Growing fast and exploding in popularity is luck. Slowly growing overtime has a little luck like everything, but it isn't pure luck. There is strategy behind it, but to be fair you do already have your brand and a pretty big following. You also have been doing it for years so you are more experienced. I think what you say is very valid, but also at the same time it's very hard to compare you to someone who is starting brand new.
Exactly. It's like comparing a guy fresh out of college to a 10 year experienced professional. Very different. Even if the freshly graduated student is very good, finding a job can still be very difficult. The 10 year experienced guy? It's a breeze.
But...he also already has a following. And his likeness is in his AFK videos anyway. Not only that, but even if i copied everything he did, from his thumbnails, to edits, to enthusiasm, to general content, I will not get 800k views. On top of that, his job being content, he has much more time to analyze games. Whereas I still have to go to work for 8 hours, come home, THEN analyze a game.
It's a massive part luck. But there is still some knowledge to it.
People are only clicking on your AFK Journey channel because you have your likeness in the thumbnail. That's why I clicked on that channel, and I imagine many others are the same.
yeahh, that's true
That's true and how I recognized those thumbnails, i don't even play the game but mtash is just a great a to guy to fall asleep too
Exactly, he already built a brand of himself so ofc it will not involve “luck” since he already established himself in his respective space.
I personally had never heard of him but I love his AFK Journey content. I imagine there's more people like me too.
Afk journey is forgettable trash. Ez skip
Best thing is That channel getting more views on each video than the number subscribers, shows poeple actually watch who subscribed.
The issue here is u already have a brand built it’s not exactly 1:1. Truth is their is an element of both 😊
New Title: Proving that having a brand can boost your newly made/niche Channels!
Thumbnail: BIG LETTERS w/ a picture of your brand (In this case, It would be Mtashed himself Gasping/Pogging)

The most challenging aspect of creating a successful UA-cam channel is attracting your initial viewers. Even if your content is excellent from the start, the toughest hurdle is gaining initial exposure, which often depends on luck. Once people start noticing your videos, effective thumbnails and titles become crucial to draw more viewers. High-quality content is essential for retaining these viewers. Lastly, being a genuine and engaging creator is key to converting viewers into dedicated subscribers.
I was lukewarm on this idea you had the few times you had it in the past, but after having seen it and all the insight you had to share, this was a great video and I really hope to watch more of this type of content from you. Thank you!
I'm glad the other channel is doing well!! I subscribed + watched your AFK Journey vids a lot to figure out the game 😁
it's nice of you making a video like this tbh encouraging people and stuff
A point of reference like this is very valuable for new creators
Thanks for showing your stats
Happy for you! Been loving the AFK journey content, had no idea it was you until i actually heard your voice!
I hope this growth on your alternative channel means more AFK Journey videos, as I really enjoy them.
You're a unique content creator in that you never look down on people, and I'm left feeling a little lighter for the rest of my day. Thanks for all the videos.
Love the game and the new channel. Congrats, bro!
I've been amazed at the amount of people seeking afk journey content, I jumped on the bandwagon with this channel and have had great success. My numbers definitely arn't sustainable because of the style and frequency i post.
i love how open you are about this + congrats on the success with the afk channel i've loved everything youve made on it
I am glad that you found more optimism in a new creative endeavour
My man jumped from making new gacha accounts to new youtube channels
Exactly what I needed, im starting my UA-cam journey right now and I absolutely love videos like this!
Good Luck,, are u starting with a gaccha game?
Heyy good luck champ. We'll be rooting for you

as for the competitiveness of the game ... ultimately its a credit card race, you can be better than others within a certain power range of yourself but in the end to quote Laxus; "Power trumps everything else".
But u do have to keep in mind that 1. U boosted yourself from the main channel plug(which is big channel) when this channel covered warcraft rumble 2. U plugged it again later into ur rebrand.............so u did get a big boost so ngl, title is kinda indigenous
Well i didn't even know he had other channels
@@TebcWasTakenenough people did, tho
he literally says this in the video whats your point for commenting this?
Bro legit this helped so much and answered a lot of the questions I had about content creation, I'm going to try everything that you said, thanks Mtashed :)
yea but first get a channel to 900k+ subs and then do this
I don't deny the skill aspect AT ALL but there is no way you are getting even close to those numbers without some sort of backing from previous endevors (such as the audience from here). I don't like this idea that it's not luck because a majority of it is and then the skills are what make that content better and then revenue can come in, not the other way around, for the most part.
Honestly he also didn't advertise it in the main channel also, I never know he did made the channel until I searched for AFK due Pokke and Ruby's podcast.
@@MuhammadKharismawannot true, he plugged it on main channel when that channel was called "warcraft rumble king"

Thank you MTashed. I needed a video like this, especially coming from you. You have been my model for years now, and the combined ambition I have mixed with the motivation from creators like you is what empowers me to create.
Thank you, MTashed, for being an inspiration for many of us, as well as being the epitome of what content creation looks like.❤
good for you my friend ... respect
Bro you already have a brand. Lol
Used to watch you for destiny! Went straight to your channel when i saw tou playing this game
Would love to hear your perspective on short/clip content too. That's even SHORTER and for me I'm finding some great strides in the small things I've posted with Wuthering Waves stuff. Super interesting to hear this! One thing I will say too is that I think like you said part of the bias is you being a creator for awhile, but also you're not coming in here BRAND NEW. You're aware of the strategies, and implementing them, where as newbies like me and many others will hear them, but will still need to learn to implement them and tune it to our likeness. So I think bias is there as well.
congrats. a pro always a pro. that is why stay here since your D2 era. 🎉
Don't ever stop Playing AFK Journey. I watch that channel more than this
I think it’s pretty impressive what you’ve done with the new channel. Good stuff for new creators and you’re plenty self aware of your past success and existing brand.
I don’t know what some of these people are ranting about. Only unrelatable thing is you saying you could have made more money by getting monetized before the game was hot - new creators will most definitely need a trend wave to ride. But you weren’t wrong 😆
Volkin also does this for all the games he plays right?
Also as Fort Minor says...
Its 10% luck
20% skill
15% concentrated power of will
5% pleasure
50% pain
And a %100 reason to remember the name.
That was so lame lmao
Dropped hard off AFK Journey, but behind the scenes videos like this are very interesting to see. Its so rare to see creators be so transparent about things like this.
Thanks for the insight, as a new creator the gulf of information on monetization kinda makes the whole endeavor (if you're looking at it like a business first) very uncertain, everyone has varying rpm it seems.
I started making vids like 2 months ago, lot of learning, stuff like this is really valuable.
Greatly appreciate your insights. I've heard the advice of just Start before though the reason I haven't started ultimately, is because I don't want to be lazy in the first bit. I want to plan out enough content to launch, that if something happens in life, cause life will come, that I have something. I also don't want to game the algorithm just hit a groove people appreciate and serve. Life has set me back a bit for now though but I'll be sure to absorb this advice. Thanks so much!
exactly what I need, since im also trying to start a channel, cant seem to get my footing though
I wonder if that immediate drop off at the start is from people hovering over your video without clicking on it. I noticed that even if I don't watch a video and hover over it to get a small clip, it adds it to my watch history.
Been my main source of AFK journey content along with Zeebo and Vulkin. Love the content, glad to see the success.
I think even if you don’t show you face and just have an avatar you’ll still do good because of all experience and knowledge. Keep up the good work
I remember you did shout out your afk journey king channel in one of your videos, but it was maybe 2/3 of the way through the video so likely not that many people even watched that part, let alone paid attention to you whispering it.
I think it was a fair experiment all things considered. Congrats on your success
l never knew about you when l started watching some of your AFKJ guide video. But l do admit that l cliked on your videos bc they always have the high amount of views compared to other AFKJ videos. But after the very first video of yours that l watched, l started to watch more and more of your videos about the game. So yeah, no doubt you're a very talent content creator who knows how to make an interesting video.
nice to see you able to quick start a channel after the HSR content debacle. Good work trying other things
Do another test: Make a new channel for WW or ZZZ for example. Change you thumbnail style, change your title and description style, remove your face cam and use a voice changer or TTS or just use subtitles so that nobody could recognize that you were behind the scenes. Keep the channel running for a month and come back here and announce us what you got. Sure, you need skills to grow a UA-cam channel but you have to know that luck is a massive factor in your success.
you are asking him to remove what makes up his success. His personality. It's not shout outing or his thumbnail style and title that make people watch him. It's his confidence, his voice acting and his presentation skill that gets him that success. You cannot remove personality from the equation. It's the most important ingredient for the success of a channel. You should know that already from the thousands of channels who got massive shoutouts from big UA-camrs up to Mr. Beast himself. And 99% of the new channels don't even know what to do with all that attention and fail. Because they cannot capture the hearts of the people. There is no way around working on your person. No secret thumbnail style, algorithm hacks, or shoutouts. You have to become entertaining. This takes years of effort if you are not a natural.
I’ve been subbed to you since d1 days tash I followed u to Genshin then Honkai now I’ll play this aswell
MTashed's situation aside, I remember seeing a video a year or so back... For the life of me I can't remember who it was from, but it was a big content creator. He made a second channel completely devoid of his brand, put out an interesting meme video about Mizkif's success, got said video noticed by Miz via sharing it within his community and it blew up.
I have been uploading on my channel too. I grew a bit and i am super proud on my progress. Although i dont focus on 1 thing. Which i think is important if you wanna grow a channel. Im just uploading videos because i like doing it. Thats what keeps me going. Thank you for this vid mtashed c:
Hey mate, thanks for the motivation. I have a startup channel and I look up to your success -knowing that you were able to build something from scratch has been informative.
I'll make it one day tashed, this video really inspired me even further , remember my name❤
Lol I watched one of your other channel videos and didn’t even realize it was another channel just thought I saw a regular upload
i know it's a matter of self doubt for you and you passed the test. Good luck for you
It’s cuz ur guides are entertaining and provide good info
I was literally thinking about ur 2nd channel today and how it's doing then you post this video 🤯
Btw how does rpm worked cause I noticed my views are a lot more than ur 2nd channel but my rpm doesn't reflect it 😭
Thanks for the inspiration
Bro is ludwig now 💀
He also sounds and look like him too
You gave your channel a shout out.
I started my channel years ago with TCG content but never got more than 10 views per video lol, kept at it and then made beyblade videos for a while before transitioning to video game content back in the pandemic, finally got it monetized back in February! It was a long journey and I'm still a tiny channel, but I'm quite proud of it :D
Thank you for the video. Though you used your face and voice in the new channel, which makes this experiment a little bit flawed (you even admit it on this video), I still think you can find some good insights in here.
Also, Michael, I hope you see this as proof that you have built enough trust with your audience over the years to the point that they are going to watch your videos just because it is YOU. They believe that if YOU make a video, they are going to get something of quality. You've reached the endgame.
One more thing, there are a lot of comments still claiming that all this is luck. I think the reason people believe this, is because they think that they have to comply with the mysterious UA-cam Algorithm, and because it is something "mysterious", they don't know very well what to do and they see the algorithm as something fickle. So for them, it is a game of giving the algorithm what it wants, when in reality they forget that the views they get on their videos are actual people watching their videos. And when we talk about people... well... there are a lot of tricks. I think with enough skill you can minimize luck by A LOT.
people forget how ridiculously important personality is. If you don't have that you are very limited in what you can do. You will have to go down the educational/tutorial style of channel and go into niches that do really well. There is no shame in that. As you need your time to work on your personality, confidence, and presentation skills. This doesn't come overnight for people who are not naturals. Many do fight with anxiety, lack of confidence etc. You have to deal with these things first or you will always be awkward in front of people or give some vibes that just don't click with them. As you said it correctly. They are people watching. Not numbers. And the algorithm acts in their interest, not in the creators.
Your afk journey channel recommended to by yt algorithm tho. I like it tho, it seems you having a blast on AF journey than on HSR and genshin.
I wanna ask on how you make thumbnails mtashed
Watch him on twitch he does it live(If he's recording)
Wish you’d come back rumble king!
Honestly massive W dude
this reminds me of the "I made a faceless AI channel" videos
What video do you use?
'Because people knew this guy makes good content'...I subed because of ur face haha
istg i didn't know that channel was yours. i was new in the game, looking for reviews. i clicked the video and i was like "THIS MF"
Uh idk if this is an exactly clear experiment. Most people on your twitch and main channel know about that channel and like myself, are subscribed to support you and see some afk journey content. Yes it isn't luck that you make good guides and content but yeah your videos are definitely getting more plugged in the algorithm because of subs and likes coming from your main channels. So yeah luck isn't a factor, but your 1m+ twitch + UA-cam following is lol. He discusses this after 7:22
I didn't know who you were before afk journey
I am not particularly interested ind AFKJ, but I am happy that it turned out well for you my guy👍
I'm actually considering starting my own channel in the coming months, but the main thing holding me back is editing... I have never done any sort of video editing before, and I don't know where to go to hire someone to do it for me. Does anyone have any tips?
I can do it for you if you are still looking for an editor. I use Davinci Resolve for editing.
You're right, content creation is not luck, it is a skill. It takes skills to make content that can attract an audience and not everyone can do that due to lack of experience and understanding of the type of content they want to push out.
You should try an expirement where you make a channel with completely different thumbnails style and maybe you even use a voice changer or something
comments are tweaking. i was looking for afk journey videos and stumbled upon your channel. although i knew who you were your content was just better than the other afk journey channels. i knew you in D2, didnt care for genshin and watched you once. people saying its just because its you are right because you are good at your job not because you are lucky. its hard cope. tons of youtubers make new channels that flop.
wait i saw ur afk journey channel yesterday and I don't even play that game
Mtashed baby 😍😍😍
ngl the first time i saw your afk journey channel i thought someone stole your videos uploaded them in another account.
damn, a Ludwig title.
A lot of comments say it's because of his face that the other channel grew, and while there's some truth to that there's lots of other UA-camrs that proved it's not luck by making another successful channel while hiding their face and voice.
there also tons of channels who got massive shoutouts and died because they coulnd't retain the audience. People forget with all the youtube lingo quickly that personality is the common denominator for the success of a channel that is not strictly educational/tutorial based.
pause.,.. you use your face on the channel, and i'm willing to bet you mentioned the channel on your main channel, with nearly a million subs, you didn't prove it wasn't luck as your title says. but i don't think any youtube channel gaining a following is luck. i'm just correcting your title lol
U lost your bet

Great work man! Proud of you moving on from Genshin.
You already have a fanbase, thats the whole reason this channel is successful. Dont put a false sense of hope into others bro
You would need to create a new channel without advertising your likeness. People already know you and will follow you
oh, yeah, I remember Ludwig even proved it by doing something that essentially made him unrecognizable. So because you already have the skills even if people didn't know you, you would be able to make another successful channel!
Love you Tash, but you undervalue the power of your face and brand. It's not just "new youtube channel". People know about you and you even can see that in your early videos in comments on that channel. It's not exactly starting from scratch when you're no name nobody cares about.
Tbh I only clicked your new channel because I knew it was you. There are a lot of new channel that are prob great, but I knew you before soooo.
Some truth to this, but it’s also easier to build a channel when your main channel has almost 1M subs… I get the point, but let’s not act like this would work for anyone who tried it.
Have you seen chlorine leaks?
I put your name in the survey every time they ask lmao

Mannnnn I want the subs, views and likes but making a channel doing what i like to do!!! This isnt a knock on you but i love to do the mystery box unboxing of funkos but i just dont know how to stand out from the dif channels that are doing the same thing
The whole reason why the channel is doing so good is because literally everyone can see and hear that your mtashed and you promoted it on your main channel lol
I promoted it like once after I already had 8k subs
