      @@sydneybell9423 TRUE justice is when you get what you gave. Live by the sword, die by the sword. That is how those people lived and treated others, now they are drinking their own cup. BUT Jesus in the NEW Testament takes our cup and drinks it, so we have the option, choice, to turn away from our own evil and its consequences....
      GOD is not evil... we are evil and need saving. Truth.

      @Sydney Bell 1. That was a punishment for the ones in authority of those children, children don't lose anything from dying, the only ones who will be at loss and in grief are their authority(s); who want to grow them up evil like themselves.
      2. God give life, and He takes life,
      God give punishments, and He gives rewards
      3. God was there before the beginning of time, and He knows the future, so we will not always understand why He does the things that He do, He knows what He is doing and what should be done, He has reasons & a purpose, He has a plan, His end goal for the children of Earth is that they may be saved through Jesus Christ, accept Him as Savior, and follow Him(To love and share Him to others) so that we all may be in unity with God again.

      @@sydneybell9423 why are you reading 3500 year old religious & cultural literature as if it applies in 2023? No, true Christians are doing the thing that is upsetting you.
      Back then an eye for an eye was true justice.
      It made everyone more equal so the rich & powerful received justice.
      Some people still think it applies today, BUT...
      Jesus said that it was the old way and will not apply to true believers. Jesus changed the culture and broke the endless cycle of 'you kill my child so I can kill yours.'
      He brought real change when He said "turn the other cheek".
      But I promise you... In big and small ways, you & I still struggle with that.
      So don't judge ancient things with modern understanding, while we still struggle as humans to let go of our ancient evil. Truth.

      I feel really sad, and angry for them. I used to be a hardcore atheist not too long ago. The pain, darkness and intense anger I felt at all times was Soo miserable.
      When you get rid of God, you're left to carry every single thing onto yourself. You come to the conclusion that life has no meaning except the one that you give it, and you were just randomly formed.
      I can't imagine these two being happy.
      When you get rid of God, all there is is sadness, pain, anger, and the desire to never wake up again. You only wake up because you're too scared to ensure your own end.
      But your waking life is just pain, misery, addiction and pointless without GOD.
      Pray for them and others that turn away. They're hurting. Whether they were really one of us or not, I don't see the harm in praying for them.

He is so Holy that we can't understand, we think His judgement is too harsh because we ourselves are not Holy. We see ourselves being condemned because we fall short in so many ways. YET!
    God is soo good that He knows that we will never be able to reach this level of holiness with our sinful nature so He send to us Jesus. The context of that verse is simply just saying the consequences of causing a child/ new believer to fall into sin (doing bad) will be severe. That it indeed it would be better for such things to happen to them than the punishment they would receive. Let me put this way. If in this world (specifically let's say your government), a person who caused another person, especially a child, to do harm is to be punished and it would be considered just, then what's the difference here that makes it "barbaric"?
      Also if you don't mind, I'd just like to know if there's any reason why this seems to tug at you so harshly? If you have ill feelings towards the belief then I'm sorry for whatever may have caused that, but idk if this is the right way to go about handling it

    • @mcben6611
      @mcben6611 Рік тому +5

      @Sydney Bell No. I can see why you see this passage as being barbaric and my comment being a validation of their point. Having someone be drowned in the sea with a millstone around their neck seems rather extreme, but to understand this passage, you first have to under stand the severity of sin and God's response to it.
      Romans 5:12 states the fallowing, "Therefore just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned." Sin carries with it the curse of death. If we weren't sinful, we quite literally wouldn't die. God knew that if Adam and Eve ate of the tree that they would bring upon themselves and their offspring the curse of death. God told them not to do this and even warned them of what would happen if they did, but they still ate of its fruit anyways. Since God is a just god, he has to punish sin, and since the act of sin brings about death, he has to punish sin with death. This is why Jesus said it would be better to be drowned than to cause anther to sin. If the punishment for sin is already death, how much greater will the punishment be for the one who causes someone to sin?
      When I said Amen, I was mostly responding to IvnMrtinz last statement. My hope is that the ex-pastor and his wife come to realize the severity of their sin and repent so that they won't meet the punishment of God.
      (Post Commenting) So I did some research into the nature of sin and came to the realization that I was wrong about why God punishes sin with death. The curse of death is actually something God made. We know that God is the creator of all things, both the laws of physics and nature included. We also know that the curse of death effects us in a very physical way. Therefore, we have to conclude that the curse of death is of God's creation and apart of his judgment upon us for our sin. Physical death for our physical being and spiritual death in hell for our spiritual being. But if he's not punishing sin with death because of the curse of death, then why does he choose to punish sin with death?
      When I asked my pastor about this, he said something to this degree. Our purpose is to love God and enjoy him; we are to bring him glory. This is life and it is both a responsibility and a gift from our heavenly father. So when we sin, we abuse this privilege. Therefore, the appropriate punishment for sin is to have this privilege taken away. That is why God punishes sin with death.
      Now I could be wrong again even with this conclusion and if I am, I ask for everyone's forgiveness. It's not my intention to lead anyone astray with my flawed understanding. I just want to help everyone better understand our King so that we can better appreciate his love for us.

      @@mcben6611 an interesting view. Mine personally is this.
      God can't bare sin, and forever we would be separated from Him due to our sin. Immediately after Adam and Eve sinned God killed an animal and clothed them. Both to hide their nakedness, and to sacrifice an animal in their stead. The punishment for sin is death (I would say because of a curse, but because it is just). Death serves as the punishment of sin (and were it not for God's mercy and for Jesus we would all be dead). (This is my personal view that) Death also serves as a form of mercy so we aren't stuck in a sinful broken world for eternity, and be freed from their broken world to be with him freed of our sin and fallen State.
      But back to the first point. God Just, and every sin must be punished, and the punishment of sin is death. Thus animals were sacrificed until the ultimate sacrifice was provided in Jesus Christ, our lord, that he may pay for all our sins, and conquer death so that death need no longer be the end.

      I don't kbow if you have kids, but imagine your kid came home in a police car. You'd be pretty angry, and rightfully so. Depending on the crime, you might even be tempted to kick them out. But instead you take them back, try to reconcile the broken relationship. Some kids turn the right coner, others get a chip on their shoulder. This is what the gospel does. When we wrong our Lord and Father, we have to understand what we deserve, and be thankful for His mercy. As our fathers have disiplined us, God does the same. If God is the God of the universe, His creation needs to understand its proper place as created by Him. There's no authority beyond, beside, or even close to Him. No can give Him advice that He doesn't already know, or can change His mind.

    I could be wrong, but I believe the reason why the punishment for a rebellious and stubborn son was death, was because the parents had no way of surviving by themselves in their old age. If the son wasn't upholding his responsibility of caring for his parents, he was essentially condemning them to a long and painful death. I believe this is why we also see so many examples in the Bible of mothers wanting sons; sons were basically that day's form of social security. If you didn't have a son, you could die because you would be too old to provide for yourself. God is a god of justices, and he judges fairly. He matches the crime with an appropriate punishment. Nothing more, nothing less. "Your eye shall not pity. It shall be life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot." ~ Deuteronomy 19:21
    Again, I could be wrong and I might be taking things out of context. I just ask for your forgiveness if I am.

      Wow. What you actually said makes alot of sense especially if you consider how much emphasis God puts on children honouring parents 👌
      Another thing to consider is that God also greatly despises disobedience which would be the major sin of a rebellious son. It's kind of like a type of how the world is with God, we prefer to do what we want against what he says, to our own peril. Just like that, that son would rebel against and disobey his father whom he is to honour, and God likened such a person to one practicing witchcraft. All the people knew and were taught this. Our generation has become more liberal and we rebel against God more without fear of who he is and what he can do

This Bible study discord I'm on, we just started a weekly study looking at Jeremiah and Ezekiel but through the lens of Deuteronomy 32, looking for connections and parallels that can teach us eternal truths, spiritual principles, and more clearly reveal to us the face of God. Just like you did with the sacrifices and laws, it's the lesson and the obedience that are useful to us as Christians. When we can see the whole story a little bit, the end from the beginning so to speak, as God sees, we can learn why God was saying and doing what He did. He was speaking to Israel, but He knew all of us and the whole world were listening.

    Makes you wonder what happened to these people that made them become so rebellious towards God. Every time I see people leaving the church and becoming rebellious towards God, it is because of one of two reasons: 1. They did something wrong and were reprimanded by church authorities and thus shifted the blame to God when, in reality, it is their own fault.
    2. Someone in the church hurt them, and there was no justice done from the church's part, and thus, they took it out on God. Whatever the reason, I hope these people can find forgiveness and redemption in God.

Do they think there is no wickedness in man? People do wicked and crazy things without God, including burning babies on altars and cutting pulsating hearts out of living people. @Sydney Bell my point was that humans are not as great as we like to think ourselves to be. As long as we hold onto a false idea that we are "good people," we can never receive the truth of the Gospel and its redemptive power. I could go tit for tat about Bible verses and what things mean in context, etc. But ultimately, logic doesn't convince anyone. People are converted in their hearts. I was an unbeliever as well and similarly judged God's actions based on my understanding of the Bible, with my own sense of self-righteousness. But when I was forced to face how down right ugly I was on the inside and all these "good people" abandoned me, rejected me, and condemned me, God showed me that eventhough I was His enemy, He came down in the form of Jesus Christ to live the perfect life and die for my pitiful mess. You will not be able to convince me that this God is evil or cruel. Humans are evil and cruel, and we need Him more than we realize.

He is NOT a being at all. He is a spirit - and one "from whom everything that was, and is, and shall be" and what's holding you together. (3.) And if you think this life with "free will " is tough, imagine not having ANY hope or ANY relief - by rejecting the one who always gave it. (4.) And if He can tell "Death" itself to take a seat while He gets His point across, (Rev. 9:6) - maybe we should give some heed to the warnings... God runs the show - because He IS THE SHOW and we're blessed to even exist in it!

He made a genuine effort to help add much needed context to these verses. Some of the verses are still disturbing and hard to "explain" ... even WITH the context. That said, I appreciate how @DailyDisciple approached this. I can't say I agree with him 100%, but at least he didn't add toxicity to his channel in this video.

    People are too confident in mocking God and his word. It won't be funny once they stand in front of God.
    Also what I'm getting at is that God is just and he wants us to obey him and yet these anti worship people are just mad because they don't want to worship God. They hate that God is the judge and what he does it righteous. Some of the things sound a bit harsh, but it makes complete sense. All I'm hearing from the singers is whining and complaining about God righteous judgement.

    It’s a little surprising to me that this man is an ex-worship pastor because the verses he’s using to mock God are explained in the chapters he’s pulled them from. Context is so important. It seems like he was reading Scripture without an understanding of who God is. Bless them, we need to pray for their understanding and conviction to come to Christ and truly know Him

    So they had a soft, cuddly, sissified version of God and actually read the Bible for themselves, and they can't stand to think that God would actually judge people for their sins. Now they mock Him and try to convince others (and themselves) that it's all ridiculous and made up.. lol. Got it. Good luck with that. Hopefully he repents and turns to the real Christ.

      @Sydney Bell And what standard are you using to make those judgements?

    • @brockmerchant3663
      @brockmerchant3663 Рік тому

      Where's in the Bible does it say to stone children for being disobedient? And what I'm saying is, regardless of whether it's wrong or not, where are you getting this morality of yours at? And don't dodge the question this time because I guarantee that a lot more evil has been perpetuated by people who believe like you. Making up your own morality gets you the holocaust, Mao, Stalin, Jonestown, socialism... Basically, every great evil of recent history.

    • @brockmerchant3663
      @brockmerchant3663 Рік тому

      @Sydney Bell you should do some research before spouting lies as facts. First of all, your verse trying to make the Bible sound like it supports socialism, that was the beginning of the church and no one that lived there was forced to give. They all gave because they wanted to. Socialism forced people against their will.
      Jim Jones was not a Christian 😂😂 he said god was socialism. He constantly talked about how there is no sky god, and how there is no heaven up there so we have to make it down here. He went as far as saying he deficated on the Bible and that no one should read it. This is all on recordings you can listen to online.
      Then you have Hitler - an atheist and evolutionist who created his own version of the "bible" to try and convince Christians that what he was doing wasn't wrong.
      I must say, though, you're really trying hard to avoid answering where your morality comes from because it seems that your beliefs are more in line with Jim Jones.

    • @brockmerchant3663
      @brockmerchant3663 Рік тому +1

      @Sydney Bell I never denied it. I just wanted to know the verse so I could see the context. Right off the bat, it says a son who's a drunkard and glutton. Is that talking about a child? Maybe you don't like it, and it's not what society today would do, but in that time in history, that's what they did with evil people. I will gladly look to the Bible for morality, just as the founders of this nation did. If your way of thinking worked, we would see those societies thriving today. Unfortunately, your way of thinking is what's causing our country to tumble uncontrollably downhill today. Life isn't always nice, and evil should be dealt with harshly. I know that doesn't make you feel all happy inside, but it's reality. Good luck with whatever standard you use to judge your morality by today.

    This is extremely sad.
    What do you get when you turn away from GOD?
    Sadness, pain, darkness and emptiness. All there is is the world to catch you, arbitrary morals, and no purpose except the one you make up.
    No God, just the world to inspire you. Or, science. Or, new age spiritualism. Or, whatever else you come across.
    And let me tell you, people will not be there for you. Everything in this world will fail you at some point or another. Friends, work, your spouse, money, anything you lean on to get by will fail you. The world will never pick you up when you fall, only keep you down. Then from there, it'll ensure you're addicted to everything of the world, and fully dependant. You're stuck.
    Before you try turning away from GOD, study the bible, understand it, and ask questions. There's always answers.
    And yes, GOD is always there for you. Even if you don't feel it.
