i bind it to Y and i bind the menu itself to T, my middle click is reserved for healing potions. healing like that is way more convenient than being able to look up a recipe
Something that Chippy forgot to mention about Calamity, is that every vanilla boss is changed (at least somewhat), so every boss feels like a completely new experience
Btw, to anyone looking to play the calamity mod, make sure to get the music mod, the sound track is so good the base mod is literally unplayable without it
A mod i would suggest to go alongside the calamity mod is “calamity’s vanities” Its a smallish mod that adds a ton of calamity mod based vanity stuff to terraria; Pets, mounts, furniture, stuff like that. It doesnt do a whole lot, but it makes the calamity mod experience just that much more interesting
I'd recommend "No pylon restrictions" it's a mod that lets you buy any pylons and place them anywhere, a little bit cheaty but it makes keeping track of your arenas a lot easier. The mod also has settings if you want it to be less cheaty.
About the angler shop mod, Calamity revamps the angler rewards so that by 30 quests done you're guaranteed to have everything you need so if you're playing calamity there's no need for it (unless you still want to completely avoid fishing at all costs haha)
calamity makes the angler feel useless. you can literally get all the essential quest items from grinding desert scourge, one of the easiest bosses in the mod. the only things you need the angler for are cosmetic items, decoration, things like that. i hope they change that in a future update
A very tiny mod that I haven’t seen anyone use before is called platform helper. It basically just lets you set a keybind that lets you place five platforms or blocks at a time letting you just be able to run forward and place platforms removing a ton of hassle
My personal favourite mod is Split mod. Compared to other content mods, it is rather small, but has really nice boss fights and fun items. It also adds a Photography mechanic, which is one of my favourite mechanics as the pictures are pretty cool.
7:07 when he said there's autofire setting in 1.4.4 I was so confused I didn't know that was a new setting. I can't believe it's been 2 months and I didn't even know. I can finally stop complaining when I shoot bows in pre hard mode 😂.
definitely, so many features from journey's end i feel like I miss when playing modded (terra line changes, axe of regrowth, shellphone, loadouts, etc.)
I recommend playing with item randomizer as a fresh play through when you get bored with everything after content mods and all, but only set it to randomize item stats so every item becomes truly unique, great for multiplayer play through as well
I would also include the 0.8 beta for mod of redemption in this list as well. it adds in a ton of unique weapons for each class (well, summoner does get a bit neglected, but what content mod doesn't neglect summoner?), an alingment system, the abandonned lab mini biome, and several bosses throughout progression, including some post moon lord ones.
This is a old kinda unrelated memory, but one time in 1.3 tmodloader, I was playing with a ton of mods, but the ones important to this memory are lans uncrafting mod, SGA mod, crafting menu, and item checklist. SGA mod has a placeable "crafting station", called the Luminus Alter. Basically, it needed to have unobstructed access to the sky above it, and its crafting recipes depended(mostly) on what moon phase was active, and what items you put in, and crafting with it takes time. Because of how unorthodox the crafting method is, to make it so that the guide(or crafting menu, they work the same) could show the recipes, there's basically these "fake" items like time, moon, a specific moon phase, and solar eclipse, so that the guide/crafting menu could tell you what you need and how long it will take to make it, in the format of a regular crafting recipe. So what I did was get an item that can only be crafted with the Luminus Altar(this was old lans uncrafting mod, you couldn't change items that are part of an any catagory[like any wood or something] into each other yet, and it defaulted to first craft recipe to uncraft it into) and uncraft it. I got the time and moon "fake" items, which is not supposed to ever be possible under any circumstances. What happens because of this is that item checklist doesn't like this, so after later saving and quiting, when I tried to rejoin, it didn't work because item checklist couldn't handle these "fake" items, so for the rest of the play through I was forced to have it off. The funny part is just now I checked Luminus Alter wiki on SGA mod fandom wiki, and I clicked on the "fake" eclipse item, its wiki page said that the item doesn't really exist, and it means that you have to craft it during a solar eclipse. But I by myself, proved this to be wrong in a casual playthrough years ago. And I know its spelled altar, not alter, but I'm just trying to be accurate to the mod.
I wish we had more mods with the sheer amount of content as the Calamity mod, because I really want that feeling of just playing through a mod for the first time again
honestly, i was bored with terraria for the time being.. but me and a friend decided to do a Terraria calamity mod playthrough full blind. I swear to god, i never had so much fun in terraria like this. I spend 500 hours in that mod, just testing and experiencing the full potential of the mod itself. If you are bored of vanilla terraria, i 100% recommend trying modded Terraria, IT'S SUPER FUN!
For Hero’s Mod or CheatSheet, there is a new mod made by a dev from Starlight River that is a good replacement by combining both utilities. The Mod is called Dragon Lens mod and I think it’s worth checking out.

Calamity is by far my favorite mod of all time and I recently went back to make a new playthrough on it. This actually ended up leading to one of my favorite worlds I've ever had and 2 more class specific playthroughs. I need to do my final class playthroigh (which will be ranger) but then I'm going to make a trophy room with my sets of gear from the end of each playthrough
Honestly I get why most people dont mention this one since some people find it just adding an extra accesory slot and it gets really funky with mods like Elements Awoken (F) and Calamity since they mix wings with boots
I feel like you shouldve mentioned consolaria It recently got ported to 1.4 and readds a bunch of the console and mobile exclusive content such as structures enemies and in the cases like the bosses. Revamps them to fit with modern terrarias standards
If you guys aren't good with bullet hell (danmaku) games, and you struggle with some of the bosses that rain projectiles upon you like you were playing Touhou, I would also recommend the cheat sheet mod: among others things, it allows to set yourself as fully invincible for as long as you want. I'ved used it to observe the boss' behaviours until I understood the patterns. And then, I'd walk a bit away, disable invincibility, and get back at it. If you're into heart statues, this cheet sheet mod also allows to "absorb" every item dropped everywhere else on the map, this way there aren't rogue dropped hearts everywhere that prevent your heart statues from doing their job in your arena.
10:52 ik this video is a year old but imma chipp in anyway, all my calamity characters have 50+ hours of gameplay tied to their world, and the Wrath of the Gods mod is also a must have for post supreme calamitas gameplay. i've also been running The Stars Above for my newest playthrough and plan on playing Thorium along with the rest of the mods.
The Calamity mod is basically terraria for me now, I tried playing vanilla terraria a few weeks ago after having the calamity mod for years and my initial thought was "this is it? Terraria is way smaller than I remember"
A new alternative to heros mod has been released called dragons lens. Takes a bit longer to load but I recommend trying it out to see which one you prefer.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have just started playing modded terraria after playing terraria for 5+ years and this is the best video I ever could have asked for ❤️
I'm still waiting on baited breath for Starlight River, god it looks so damn good, should probably play through calamity first though so I'm not spoilt

Would love to see a part 2! Would be cool to check out other bigger content mods other than the tmod giants that are calamity or thorium. I recommend visting the unfinished (but better than calamity right now imo) mod of redemption, stars above, fargo’s souls or secrets of the shadows, also remnants mod is great as an extra in modded playthrougs. Also I cant fully stretch how fun mod of redemption is now, even if its not complete. Everything is super high quality, and theres not a single bad boss fight.
@@bruh-nq5px have you tried it at least? yeah cal has a ton of cool content, but boss fights are mediocre and outdated and only an handful of weapons are high quality. MoR being half done has much better boss fights and structures overall, plus an actual sense of humour
To me mod of redemption has really good bosses and structures but mostly everything else feels too cluttered and honestly like I'm playing 1.2 again (and not in a good way)
One mod I would add si the Item magnet plus, as someone who doesn't like to go side to side collecting every single drop lying around this is a must have
I recommend any mod besides calamity, calamity has a tendency to corrupt your world file plus it has too much unfun bullshit that prioritizes lore over gameplay. Some goid alternatives that do prioritize gameplay is thorium, polarities, the clicker class, and fargo’s soul mod.
Man, I love calamity, but I hate all my favorite things getting nerfed, deleted, or changed in some way. No bumblebirb, no burden breaker, Siren (if you ask me) got ruined, especially with siren heart getting removed. Rogue leans a bit too far into my melee if you ask me, but that's not a huge complaint, and I don't even want to talk about the Murasama nerfs. But yeah, it's a pretty good mod.
its all because the creator Fabsol hates shit being easy and constantly wants to remove fun mechanics and sub in more "challenging" bs changes, like making Zenith require auric tesla bars or nerfing stardust dragon by almost 80%
Siren was removed because the person who made it never actually signed it in as Calamity Intellectual Property. After an argument with the owner the Siren’s creator asked for the removal of it since she legally owned it.
I'd recommend to keep an eye on the Split mod. It hasnt been ported to 1.4 yet, but it was one of my favorite content mods in 1.3 and theyre going to be porting it over... "soon"
Thorium is so good. Like a massive expansion that still feels like normal terraria. Calamity doesnt feel that way to me. Not to mention some weapons and bosses in calamity actually lag my computer to death
Been going through ever class in calamity with friends, and we always use Magic Storage, Alchemist NPC, IMK Sushi, Fargo's Mutant, Fargo's Best of Both Worlds, and Ore Excavator. Also, Calamity still updates every so often, so it's always fresh and has new things to do
There is a vanilla version of boss cursor, except you need to use the transparent map overlay, if you're using a gun, you can see that you can hit the boss by clicking on it on the map.
I highly recommend Spirit mod because of the cool biomes with the nice and serene music surrounding lethal places. The bosses and events are nice and when it gets updated it just feels… indescribable.
If i ever made a Terraria mod, it would be Themed Around Castlevania, Adding a Entire new class named the Glyph Class which is a class that Starts off with the Confonere which is crafted via a Wood sword & A mana star, some Cv enemies will be there too, and it also adds the Rare Ring that greatly boosts luck, making rare drops a bit more common.
The Quality Of Life Mod is prob one of the best mods out there. You can enable ore excavation, tombstone don’t spawn, increased tile placing speed, no longer consume boss summons, portable crafting stations, Teleport NPCs, enemy money drop rate, faster respawn and much more. All configurable.
Watched this vid to see new mods to play, and its a great list but imma quickly go grab boss curser, cuz after beating calamity a couple times and using the minimap to know where yharon and DoG are coming from its a must get, so thanks for the suggestion
Other mods that I would highly recommend are the auto trash mod, fish farming mod, shop expanding mod, and map sharing mod for qol changes and starlight, redemption, and spirit for bigger mods

I'd also suggest LuiAFK because it makes progression much faster, especially when you just want to fight bosses in something like calamity mod. Currently using it in a revengence run and it's great to not have to grind for each boss progression.
That weird to me. I didn't realize you could modify this game in any which way! definitely an eye opening video for me! Keep that chip on you shoulder man! xD U da best!!!
There's a more advanced tool(cheat if you think so) mod called DragonLens, it's more complicated and more powerful, with DragonLens you pretty much don't need any other similar mods since it's almost an all purpose in-game editor. But I did mention it's more complicated, so not too recommended for casual/usual players.
Ok so you just said all the mods everyone else says. But it is understandable. Everyone should play calamity. Maybe add the both evil mod or the anti evil spread mod.
When talking about the smaller content mods i really reccomend luiafk (theres a remake of it on the 1.4 workshop) for those of you that dont know its a convenience mod that (along other things) allows you to craft items that you would find in chests around the world or drop from certain enemies and make it easier for late game recipes that you might be missing an item or two for
If anyone new to Terraria or TML(TModLoader) sees this, I don’t recommend using calamity and thorium at the same time. I highly suggest you play them separately and maybe with other smaller qol mods such as alchemistNPC, magic storage, etc. There’s another mod called Spirit mod that’s awesome too. People are making content mods more now and it’s fun seeing what people make. Spirit, stars above, shadows of abandon are a few other content mods I enjoy. There are also adventure mods/maps you can play. There is an endless amount of fun with this game it’s amazing and so are the Devs or Terraria and TML(jopojelly is OP) lol
And if you're a Terraria expert, and did good on calamity mod, Try out the Infernum mode. It acts as a new difficulty, but rn is kinda of a new approach to calamity. Looks super cool and plays out even better.
I highly highly recommend Remnants mod, its the best and largest world-generation mod in Terraria
Dorman Dawn Mod too, adds pretty cool effects, and there is a video on the best channel, GitGudWO
you must get annoyed with this but, could you release an updated class guide for thorium? the other ones are weird and sometimes tell you to get worse items than you can get

@@jimmyjohnjoejr I thought I was the only one who felt this way lol. I also didn't really like the underground dungeon type structures.

Just was about to get into moded this was needed thank you
A very tiny mod that I haven’t seen anyone use before is called platform helper.
I still tap shoot most boss in vanilla even with the auto fire turned on because it hive me better control over when I shoot, so I'm more accurate
@@b0ne_r3aper78 It hive you better control?
1.4.4 came out in late October, so it's like 5 months ago
@@Izzythemaker127 you can choose to shoot or to not shoot so you don't waist shots while moving the mouse
@@b0ne_r3aper78 yeah okay but it H I V E you better control?
I can't wait for when tModLoader updates to 1.4.4, there's so many changes that it made that I miss in my Calamity playthrough right now
definitely, so many features from journey's end i feel like I miss when playing modded (terra line changes, axe of regrowth, shellphone, loadouts, etc.)
@@bluegem8582 journeys end is 1.4. you are thinking of labour of love which is 1.4.4
@@Lownwolf-sm5py my bad, at very least I got the update number when these items were added correct thankfully
I would recommend the Vanilla Calamity Music Mod, it adds so much to the Calamity Mod experience and immerses you so much deeper into the world.
In all fairness summoner weapons suck to code
Really great video for all the newbies to modding out there! Well done Chippy!
Very cool.
I wish we had more mods with the sheer amount of content as the Calamity mod, because I really want that feeling of just playing through a mod for the first time again
The mod of redemption is comparable to Calamity in my opinion.
Both have a lot of lore, and both add huge amounts of bosses both in normal area and post moon lord
PLAY OTHER MODS
Have you heard of The Story of Red Cloud?
honestly, i was bored with terraria for the time being.. but me and a friend decided to do a Terraria calamity mod playthrough full blind. I swear to god, i never had so much fun in terraria like this. I spend 500 hours in that mod, just testing and experiencing the full potential of the mod itself. If you are bored of vanilla terraria, i 100% recommend trying modded Terraria, IT'S SUPER FUN!
I can't wait for Elements Awoken to be ported, same with The Spirits Mod, great mods with good biomes, music, and bosses
For Hero’s Mod or CheatSheet, there is a new mod made by a dev from Starlight River that is a good replacement by combining both utilities. The Mod is called Dragon Lens mod and I think it’s worth checking out.
Dragonlens is decent, but it glitches out a lot and is still missing several features from Hero's Mod and CS. Promising, but has work to go
@@goldh2o543 it is in a very early stage but there are definitely potentials
Very solid recommendations, and yeah Calamity is awesome! it's insane how many cool things they've been able to add to Terraria

whats the armor set your wearing at 4:42 if anybody could let me know im kindof new to terraria and it looks like a very cool outfit
Another smaller mod I would love to add would be wing slot, I cannot live without this one
I also play with a shoe slot
Honestly I get why most people dont mention this one since some people find it just adding an extra accesory slot and it gets really funky with mods like Elements Awoken (F) and Calamity since they mix wings with boots
Also expert slot
I feel like you shouldve mentioned consolaria
It recently got ported to 1.4 and readds a bunch of the console and mobile exclusive content such as structures enemies and in the cases like the bosses. Revamps them to fit with modern terrarias standards
Consolaria is really good.
Now that consolaria is in 1.4 I am just using it permanently. It is so good
If you guys aren't good with bullet hell (danmaku) games, and you struggle with some of the bosses that rain projectiles upon you like you were playing Touhou, I would also recommend the cheat sheet mod: among others things, it allows to set yourself as fully invincible for as long as you want.
Re-logic: THIS is going to be the FINAL update.
Not even two weeks later: sooo.... we're doing another one.
We want more terraria playthroughs(modded or not) on Chippy's couch!Love relaxing and hearing your stories
Thank you Chippy for coming to save the Captain.
For sure don't forget Mod of Redemption and Fargos Souls!
I would definitly also recommend Story of Red Cloud, it is now revamped and ready to play :)
out of all the mod pack soundtracks, and there are some good one, the OST for Terraria will always be the GOAT.
Definitely top of my most anticipated list
@@ChippyGaming is there any information on potential release time frames out or are we just waiting for it to blindside us into taking our year by storm?
@@ImMimicute the devs said that it could be released in april this year but they might delay it if they need more time
@@unitedairlanes5500 oh my god sounds like I don't have the time to get the calamity playthrough out first 😱
he showed crabulon when he was segwaying into the sponsor and I thought for a second that the calamity devs had sponsored a video.
Everything is super high quality, and theres not a single bad boss fight.
saying mod of redemption is better than calamity should be punishable by jail time
id still say that calamity takes the cake vs mod of redemption, not without some fight tho. I see where youre coming from
@@bruh-nq5px have you tried it at least? yeah cal has a ton of cool content, but boss fights are mediocre and outdated and only an handful of weapons are high quality. MoR being half done has much better boss fights and structures overall, plus an actual sense of humour
To me mod of redemption has really good bosses and structures but mostly everything else feels too cluttered and honestly like I'm playing 1.2 again (and not in a good way)
@@b0ne_r3aper78 What feels "cluttered" to you?
i had to watch a 2 minute and 53 second unskippable ad before watching this. i don't regret it.
Ok thank you for reccomends! I will try em out next day.
i would also recommend Split mod for people who have beaten Calamity, or Spirit mod for beginners
I just decided to mod terraria for the first time, great timing on this!
The bosses and events are nice and when it gets updated it just feels… indescribable.
i was hoping you'd put overhaul in here
can't be a video about terraria mods without calamity too
Both are mentioned towards the end + he mentions Thorium
If i ever made a Terraria mod, it would be Themed Around Castlevania, Adding a Entire new class named the Glyph Class which is a class that Starts off with the Confonere which is crafted via a Wood sword & A mana star, some Cv enemies will be there too, and it also adds the Rare Ring that greatly boosts luck, making rare drops a bit more common.
You should play calamity co-op with captainsparkles once he finishes his expert mode playthrough.
I like how Chippy considers Calamity mod as his favorite and yet hasn’t finished its playthrough
thank you so much for putting the list of mods in the description!!
Watched this vid to see new mods to play, and its a great list but imma quickly go grab boss curser, cuz after beating calamity a couple times and using the minimap to know where yharon and DoG are coming from its a must get, so thanks for the suggestion
ngl was thinking the exact same thing
Other mods that I would highly recommend are the auto trash mod, fish farming mod, shop expanding mod, and map sharing mod for qol changes and starlight, redemption, and spirit for bigger mods
First time playing modded and I decided to play Death mode immediately lol hoping it goes well. Im not too good at the game but i really want to be invested and feel satisified with my first playthrough, exploring everything possible. Currently just before WoF right now, making preparations and looking forward to the fight/hardmode with like 30~ hours in PHM
once again fargo's soul is left to the wayside in favor of it's younger brother
Here are some mods that have yet to be ported to 1.4 but you should still play
-spirit mod : adds bosses and items and ores and its overall very fun
-split mod : ditto
-joost mod : a personal favourite of mine , adds the joost npc wich adds a new quest system and tons of minibosses and some other miscellaneous stuff
-cerebral mod / esper class / defender class: compiles 4 class mods and 2 of wich are finished , complete with armors and potions and accessorries
-ancients awakened: a fun challenge with creative bosses and new structures and insane weapons
-shadows of abaddon: kinda ditto?

2:46 alchemist npc lite
3:21 ore excavator

I'd also suggest LuiAFK because it makes progression much faster, especially when you just want to fight bosses in something like calamity mod. Currently using it in a revengence run and it's great to not have to grind for each boss progression.
doing a playtrough of calamity and infernum + thorium + fargos (+addons) + stars above and my pc is struggling but we re having fun
But I did mention it's more complicated, so not too recommended for casual/usual players.
if you're playing with alot of npcs, a must have is Celsus, it's an npc list like the boss checklist mod
Cant wait for starlight river to come out. It will be so revolutionary.
A mod I've been wanting to check out is REMNANTS, which is a complete overhaul of the world gen.
Thanks for the vid I’ve tried modded but there’s always something missing and all the QOL smaller mods really help out
A fun combination of mods that I personally enjoy is "Max Luck" combined with "No Immunity" (no I-frames)
Mod of redemption is showing some great promise with the whole other dimensions thing, nudge nudge..
Can’t wait to replay it, since I’ve not played the new version yet I didn’t want to include it in todays video
Calamity inferium mod adds to calamity compeletly awesome boss fights generation and other stuff i recommend to use it after first playthrought
Ok so you just said all the mods everyone else says. But it is understandable. Everyone should play calamity.
Maybe add the both evil mod or the anti evil spread mod.
Isn't Both Evils basically drunk world but no finch staff and bones are post-skeletron?
@@Kickiusz you just have a world with both evils. Sadly the altars stay the same.
terraria mods will always have a special place in my heart
Stars above really nice mod and super chill
Bro the half of this mods didn't even working on 1.4.4 tmodloader
