11:12 I recommended getting every portable storage like Money Trough, Safe, Void Bag, Defender's Forge (All are obtainable pre-hardmode) And if you are that type of person who are consistent with Inventory management and memory, these portable storages will hold plenty of things throughout your explorations. You must put them in the chest after returning home though, they must be cleaned up when they're full.
This is really good advice, though the eye bone from deerclops as a money trough that takes no inventory slot is amazing. Of course it means no pet, but that’s the cost for some great convenience
It's also good to know both kinds of void storages share inventory, same with the money trough and the piggy bank. Also if you don't want to manage so many of them just go for the void bag, the void bag starts getting filled automatically if your inventory gets full and along with the money trough you don't actually need to place it to open it.
Also just a quick thing if you need more inventory space: fallen stars can be put in the ammo slots because technically they are ammo for the star cannon
Coming off of the "choose a class" section, no matter what class you play always use a summon if you have one. It doesn't matter if you're using a prehardmode summon against golem or something, it's a little more DPS and maybe even a debuff and it'll save you more than hurt you. The only real cost is an inventory slot and a buff slot (you can only have so many buffs at once but they drastically increased the number in the last update).
It can aggro things randomly if you are not careful and hurt gnomes chasing when you try to reach the surface. Sometimes it can knockback enemies towards you which is dangerous early on in master hardcore and I learnt it the hard way
I started my terraria journey Like 6 days ago, it's really fun and intense sometimes. I have been progressing along with my friend who has played terraria for a long time. He made a new character so we would start at the same level. He chose mage class and I chose archer class. I have gotten to the point where we got into hard mode, defeated the mechanical bosses and have really op stuff. I recently got the mega shark which I found out its easier to get shark fins in the dessert during sandstorm then waiting at an ocean. We are currently trying to get me an uzi for ranged class. We have a simple basic boss arena and I always have to many artifacts or what ever you call them. But I didn't know you could combine them. That's gonna make my life so easy
As a console player I can confirm that we have a smart cursor! I don’t know what the default button is because I’ve changed up my controls so much, but I press down on the left joystick. We have customizable controller binds so you can pick whatever feels most comfortable.
It's by default either press L3 or R3 (one changes it between a cursor that locks onto stuff based on what's in hand to either break or place, the other you hold down and it automatically switches what's in your hand to a useful item, usually a torch or pickaxe, so you don't have to keep pressing L1 and R1 to switch inventory slots)
On console there are a few different controls. I play on Xbox, so things might be different on play station. 1. Pressing up on the d-pad toggles auto use. This makes it so that when you point the right thumbstick in a direction, the selected item will either be used or consumed. Turning this off is up to preference, but definently turn it off on all recal potions and magic mirrors, as I personally have accidentally teleported out of boss fights, and have had to re summon, and re acquire potions. 2. Pressing in the right thumbstick toggles smart cursor. Most of the time it is better left on, though when doing things such as building houses and making arenas, I find it better to be off. 3. Many keybinds will not assigned. This includes grappling, toggling mounts, quick loot/ quick deposit, and many more. Not all keybinds will be able to be assigned, so pick and choose what you think is important to have. I reccomend to include quick buff and quick heal in those keybinds. ( and quick mana if you play mage)
Auto save and exit before breaking altars, Go back in the game, When you break altars, make sure auto save is off, you can then go back into the world if you wan different ores, If you want to keep the ores you get, turn in auto save again... I’d recommend Palladium, Orichalcum, Titanium, But the most important is Titanium
Most important was probably palladium at one point, I remember that it was able at one point to mine the third ore tier straight-up, might’ve been changed though
I usually don't care about the first two and only try to get titanium as my third ore, because I only use the first two ores for pickaxes to mine higher tier ores until I get titanium.

On the ranged set Adamantite has: -36 defense -22% damage and 17% critical strike chance increase | While the Titanium has: -34 defense -23% damage and 13% critical strike chance. On the mage set Adamantite has: -32 defense -18% damage and 19% critical strike chance increase | While the Titanium has: -30 defense -23% damage and 13% critical strike chance. The Titanium set has 1% more movement speed increase but that is negligible. When it comes to the set bonuses Titanium has the Titanium barrier with 7 shards which in my opinion is only useful for Melee and only slightly helpful for Ranged and Mage for close protection. On the other hand the Adamantite armor has 20% melee and movement speed boost for Melee which is an insane buff for Melee mostly thanks to the Melee speed increase. (That's 11% more than the Titanium set and melee speed increase is the best buff for true melee swords and swords that shoot projectiles) For Ranged it gives 25% chance not to consume ammo which is handy for not having to restock/farm as often. For Mage it gives 19% less mana usage which is both good for using less mana potions and it increases your dps if you're using a Mana Flower (You're almost always gonna be using one after the point you get Adamantite armor) since the mana sickness debuff reduces your damage. In conclusion, for Ranged and Mage Adamantite armor is almost unarguably better as it has more damage bonuses + more defense alongside with better set bonuses. While the Melee is more of a personal preference with Titanum offering a close combat dps boost and the Adamantite having an 11% more melee speed and a convenient 20% movement speed. Which in my opinion means Adamantite armor is better than Titanium for EVERY SINGLE class, especially for Ranged and Mage.
Would have loved to find a video like this about 3 months ago when I was brand new to Terraria. It was gifted to me and a few other friends by a mutual friend we all have. I made a channel just to comment this. I have been plying Terraria for the first time the past week. I love the game, but that damned yellow square drove me crazy, I couldn’t figure it out.I’m turning it on by hitting control, you just gained a subscriber, and thank you.
It’s cool that you don’t just take your Intro and paste it into every video so you say it every time again (because there are lazy people that just copy one intro and paste it into every video) and that shows that you are not like these people. Good work!
Btw if people are wondering, there is smart cursor on console, i tried terraria on ps4 once and holding down the right thumb stick gives u smart cursr but it is weird to use
Essentially what the smart cursor does is it will mine the items around you without having to aim. You can control where it mines tho. Like for example, it will automatically mine a 3 block tall tunnel if ur just moving forward.
Extra Tips: One of the best ways to make money in the early game is to collect any gems you can find, craft glass walls, and make as many stained glass walls as you can. Sell them to the "happiest" NPC. To see who is the happiest, go to the NPCs who sell items, and click the "happiness" button. Sometimes the best weapons aren't the ones that are always talked about. For example, the Nail Gun, while not talked about often, can make quick work of most late-game bosses easily. While some bosses are optional, and killing them do not increase gameplay progression, I highly recommend killing some of these optional bosses as the loot they drop can prove to be amazing, like how the Queen Slime can drop her mount, or how all of Duke Fishron's weapons are exceptional despite being technically available after the Wall of Flesh.
I just got this game on PC and I played for about 3 hours all I did so far was explore and make a house. so thanks for this guide it will help me on my journey in Terraria. 👍
13:21 yup it is. You have to press the R3 button by default (which is the analogic that you move your cursor), you can switch between that and the manual cursor
your the best i have been watching you since i didnt even know how to craft anything and now i am a pro at the game because of you thank you for helping me for all this time
You haven't even touched the surface of actual "Professional" standards. But yeah, cool, I also struggled alot back then, congrats on getting greater at the game.
Another note, expert mode is sometimes better than normal, because of the exclusive quality of life items, but with a trade off of course, and you already know what is it dear viewers
I have over 200 hours on Terraria. Right now I'm doing a lil roleplay thing where all characters in this world are permadeath and each new one explores the world some more. I have never spoken to the guide and learned about items. That's beautiful. I had no idea that was a thing. This busts it all wide open for me.
When I first got the game I played journey mode because coming from games like Minecraft or ark survival evolved I was really bad and the same applied for Terraria so journey mode gave people like me a chance to see the full game and it's beauty, but recently I've been branching out to classic and maybe I could do expert mode one day!
I like Journey Mode because of the fact you still need to grind for your stuff instead of the game giving it to you. I mean, Yeah, you can enable God Mode, but focus on *Enable.* I just play Journey so i can learn the Game more, and learn crafting recipies. It honestly helps with Classic, Expert, and Master Mode worlds.

I started playing Terraria last year and I have like 300-400 hours in. I think the biggest downfall for me was in my first few worlds was that I kept everything and didnt manage my chests. Now I try to make a giant chestroom and name chests. Make all the chest different. (i also break and grab every chest I find) I have indeed noticed then you get the most random items sometimes but then like weeks later you just need it. Its the worst looking trough all your chests and not finding it (for example a depth meter for the cellphone, or some random ice boots for the terraspark boots etc etc) also I though mobs drops where garbage but you accually need drops from mobs for crafting (like the vines or stingers from jungle mobs to make jungle gear/weapons) this game is amazing but it can be pretty overwelming and I still find new stuff and I try to try everything and just give it a go. I love the mage class. Also I gave summoner a shot and its also pretty decent. I play with friends now and its very funny and chaotic and its nice to play with 2 more friends and we can just all use different armour and weapons and be usefull in our own way. I wish I baught this game years ago. Idk why, I do love minecraft but this game is almost as good if not better because I get burnes out from minercaft. This game you can just always do something or try something new...
As someone that only played minecraft once ever (I fell into a hole, a pig fell in with me several minutes later, punched the pig to death and tried to dig my way out with a pork chop, then quit) and was gifted this randomly and I had flashbacks. Thank you, I needed this. xD
Xbox and switch player here, we do in fact have smart cursor. Your default binds should have it on (don’t know what they are and I don’t bother to check lol). I personally set it to r3 (pressing the r stick) as you are most likely using the r stick for the entire game. so, by setting it to r3, you can easily switch between precise aiming and normal aiming.
A little while ago i beat the game a second time on master mode and after that train wreck i kinda took a break from terraria. But i finally got it of steam so i can finally download mods making the game feel new again. I've been playing this game for a while but it's always really nice introducing new player to the game and for those people i wish you the best of luck. I was stuck on the twins for 2 years on normal mode. To be fair i was really lazy and had no clue how to play despite playing the game for like 3 years prior. But if your new just know it will be a bumpy ride at first but after the mechanical bosses the game is definitely something special.
Expert Is more difficult but you get exclusive expert mode items and money drops are doubled, so it's absolutely worth it. Normal is good but it doesn't give as much dopamine.
As someone playing post-Golem, arenas aren’t strictly necessary, they just make your job a lot easier. I mostly just use any open space, usually the ocean.
I've been playing this game for year but I really liked the video. Why did I watch? Honestly, because I started minecraft and the videos Ive seen are not very good and wanted to see how terraria handle them and I have to say much better. Great tips, especially the world/character. Maybe there's a little too much visual stimulation but good tip that just don't give everything away. I can only think of 3 things that should have been added (only 1 on the spirit of the video) which is how chests work, especially when you say to hoard everything. Explaining the chest options would be cool.
My brother just got into terraria when this video was posted, and he said he likes terraria. So this was a good time for a beginner guide. Also there are smart cursors on console. I know that for Nintendo switch it is the R control stick. I dont know if that's for other consoles though.
I know how to play the game but I don't remember the glitch wall so I was hoping to see here but didn't. But! I saw you used the platforms then I suddenly remembered so thanks.
12:21 I would say that summoner and melee are meant to be paired. I mean... Feral Claws? Flask? Melee Speed? Summoner and Melee are closely related, and oftentimes felt like true melee in the first place, due to it's whips do not have any projectiles whatsoever. So I guess it's paired?
They have some similarities, but I definitely don't think you're meant to do a melee/summoner hybrid any more than any other pair if that's what you're saying. Whips work similarly to melee weapons, but they're still their own thing and they do summon damage, so melee damage boosts don't affect them. They have completely different armor, and almost completely different accessories too.
"I might get back into Terraria, haven't played for a few years. It's a relatively simple game, not much could have changed." Watched this video, and it now takes nearly 5 minutes just to explain the character and world settings... I'm in for a treat today, it seems!
As a console and Pc player of Terraria, smart cursor does exist on console. It is toggled by pressing in on the right stick(R3 on PlayStation) it is on by default but is very easy. I prefer to always have smart cursor on as it is faster and more responsive than aiming without it.
Not gonna lie that last tip makes me wish I sought out tip videos sooner because I spent half of my first ever experience getting frustrated with the fact that the smart cursor would NEVER do what I wanted. Can not even BEGIN to tell you how many times I fell into a sticky situation because my smart cursor decided it was gonna break the block directly under me. 😭☠️
“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times is better than a master of only one.” There thats full quote. And as someone who always multiclasses in terraria. Its true here as much as it is anywhere. Yea having a full melee build is how you maximize damage with a melee weapon, But there is also no reason to not summon at least 1 thing in. And at that point you will always do more damage with a summon than without even though your not built for summoner damage. Samething with guns. Its always smart to have a mini/mega shark on you even if your not a ranger.
Personally, I would’ve appreciated less spoilers next time. For example, I think the best melee weapon in the game would’ve been cool to see for the first time when I crafted it. Also, the bosses… . (If there was a spoiler warning anywhere that I didn’t see, then just forget it.)
Terraria luck based with various play styles and uniqueness will make this game greatly holds it's 9.99$ value. Hecks nah! 3K+ items? If the vanilla isn't enough, *THERE'S MORE TO SLAY YOUR RHYTHM*

You can make it a click of the right stick in the control settings
Essentially what the smart cursor does is it will mine the items around you without having to aim. You can control where it mines tho. Like for example, it will automatically mine a 3 block tall tunnel if ur just moving forward.
Bro the Smart Cursor was literally the reason I never played terraria. It was annoying me and I had no idea how to turn it off. Thank you man!
Extra Tips:
One of the best ways to make money in the early game is to collect any gems you can find, craft glass walls, and make as many stained glass walls as you can.
Or even just catching animals to cook then sell
Console player here!
Yes we have smart cursor you can switch between smart an normal one like on pc.
By the way very nice video.
Also Czech player here hi
I am starting terraria, this video is really helpful i hope you also have a great week
I just got this game on PC and I played for about 3 hours all I did so far was explore and make a house. so thanks for this guide it will help me on my journey in Terraria. 👍
i love how it shows the most late game stuff in the intro of a beginner guide
And Idc what you say, The Guide isn't only for WoF. Its Crafting option helps me a whole hell of a bunch.
@@NoodleHoenn yeah if there was no guide in the game then i wouldn't know what to do
Noob
hi im a huge fan ive been a fan since the summoner tips and tricks in 10 mins video i have over 800 hours and you teach me knew things every time i watch thanks for the hand and hope you are well thanks
Dig large tunnels on both sides of your world evil to prevent it from spreading in hardmode
Every beginner pls follow this tip, my jungle and snow pylon houses got absolutely destroyed by the corruptions, I had to spend 7 days trying to stop the corruption from spreading to my forest pylon house, throwing bombs, purifying, etc.
But it was too late, I lost my entire jungle.
does it have to be all the way to the underworld?
@@datguy0416
No but it needs to super deep like near the points where lava spawns.
Also you can just use dynamite and bombs
@@datguy0416 yes
Thank you for the tip! How wide the tunnels should be?
Love your Videos. Got so many hours in Terraria but still watching your stuff.
I love ZUZUCORN he helped me in the mechanical bosses and other stuff and thats ok if you dont post videos I saw it on your qna that you are in university!
13:00 yes smart cursor does exist on console but there are many ways of activating it so just go into options to check what button it is. i use R3 to make smart cursor apire
Thanks for the video, i’ll have something to do this evening
Thanks, i recently started a journey world set to expert, this'll help a lot
why
Bro. The crafting guide. I didn't know. Just blew my mind. I always wondered how to figure out crafting
zuzu's training is why I am nearly ready for the moon lord. 🙌 thanks zuzu!
A good tip that helped me a lot when I was a beginner is to use the terraria wiki.
I just started playing the game and i'm loving it.
Thank you, I needed this. xD
Excellent spoil-free video, exactly what i was looking for : explain how the game works and how to discover it by myself. Thanks a lot
*shows every boss and weapon in the game*
Xbox and switch player here, we do in fact have smart cursor. Your default binds should have it on (don’t know what they are and I don’t bother to check lol). I personally set it to r3 (pressing the r stick) as you are most likely using the r stick for the entire game. so, by setting it to r3, you can easily switch between precise aiming and normal aiming.
Great Content, very helpful, and very soothing voice that's not too high nor too small
=new sub
I completely forgot about this channel. Thank God I found it!
I can't thank you enough man I'll never forget this
Great video! Very informative I’m going to share this with my friend, he’s just bought the game.
I just started yesterday. This game is very confusing and it will probably take me a while to understand how to play it.
@@cooldrewplayz6701 hows it going dawg
i have nearly 150 hours in terraria and still have to search up/wiki everything…there’s just so much in the game and so many hidden mechanics!
And imma quickly save this video very helpful thank you sir
Normal is good but it doesn't give as much dopamine.
thank you for these guides. it's been super helpful for my first playthrough.
amused fan of your Over Preparation video ya made a while ago. my roommate was horrified by how many herbs ya grew
Hands down the best explanations to the game for beginners I’ve ever seen!!
Thx this was actually helpful as a beginner myself!
wow you do not know how thankful i am for that smart cursor tip
As someone playing post-Golem, arenas aren’t strictly necessary, they just make your job a lot easier. I mostly just use any open space, usually the ocean.
You can indeed use Smart Cursor on Console, just clicking down the right thumb stick will toggle between the normal and smart cursors
amazing vid straight to the point for true beginners
I was literally spinning my head before this. I just wanna say, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP MAN!👍
I've been playing this game for year but I really liked the video.
Journey mode is pretty fun. When I get bored I launch TL pro or I make a journey world
Thanks im just beginning and this was really helpful
ive had terraria for a long time and this still helped me thanks
For counseling, to use smart cursor pressure in on right joy stick
My brother just got into terraria when this video was posted, and he said he likes terraria. So this was a good time for a beginner guide. Also there are smart cursors on console. I know that for Nintendo switch it is the R control stick. I dont know if that's for other consoles though.
Smart cursor is on console. To use it press right on the dpad.
13:13 Yes, it is available. You can switch between a cursor on a grid and the smart cursor by pressing in on the right joystick (Xbox)
Zuzucorn: Upgrade!
Me when 1.4 came out: MASTER MODE PREHARED ARMOR ONLY, LET'S GOOOOOO!
Thanks for the tips, would be useful for my cousin
I know how to play the game but I don't remember the glitch wall so I was hoping to see here but didn't. But! I saw you used the platforms then I suddenly remembered so thanks.
I like your voice the way you explain it's very clear thank you so much for your tips
Boy do I love terraria
I dont get the idea "true melee". You may not like projectiles but that doesn't make it false melee.
@@cabir.bin.hayyan.800 melee means close combat so I'd argue that it does
Thanks bro it really helped
Btw yeah consoles have the smart cursor
"I might get back into Terraria, haven't played for a few years. It's a relatively simple game, not much could have changed."
Watched this video, and it now takes nearly 5 minutes just to explain the character and world settings...
I agree with the keeping everything and not selling it i once sold everything and then realised that i needed most of those items
Me who’s played terraria for 8 years:
“Ah yes i need this”
Installed it today and were looking for some tips like how to have next workbench after furnace, but I guess i should start with bosses arena ;)
Thx bro helped me out A LOT 🙏
The full jack of all trades saying is that, a jack of all traits is a master of one but always better than a master of one
I'm a console player and I can confirm that we do indeed have Smart Cursor! Btw love the channel, Zuzu 😉
ZUZU I LOVE YOUR VIDS IVE WATCHED SO MANY! IM FINALLY EARLY FOR ONCE
I love how I’ve been playing terraria for over 5 years and am still playing close attention
Should I try corruption or crimson for my first playthrough?
“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times is better than a master of only one.” There thats full quote. And as someone who always multiclasses in terraria. Its true here as much as it is anywhere. Yea having a full melee build is how you maximize damage with a melee weapon, But there is also no reason to not summon at least 1 thing in. And at that point you will always do more damage with a summon than without even though your not built for summoner damage. Samething with guns. Its always smart to have a mini/mega shark on you even if your not a ranger.
Wow!!! Nice video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Terraria has always been my Minecraft style game. imo looks and plays better.
This is gonna help me for my smp
Personally, I would’ve appreciated less spoilers next time. For example, I think the best melee weapon in the game would’ve been cool to see for the first time when I crafted it. Also, the bosses… . (If there was a spoiler warning anywhere that I didn’t see, then just forget it.)
Thank you bro 😊
Terraria luck based with various play styles and uniqueness will make this game greatly holds it's 9.99$ value.
Hecks nah! 3K+ items?
If the vanilla isn't enough, *THERE'S MORE TO SLAY YOUR RHYTHM*
