That compartment you said you don't need to fill all compartments, you know what would go good there? A book, or a journal to jot down your ideas while your mind is clear by the small campfire.
Good pack review! I also liked the Nick Skinner knife! Good video and stay safe and hydrated! I would mod a clippable water bottle holder from that chest strap! lol
Awesome review. Its nice to see gear actually being used. I have one, and I'm planning to use it for a personal item flight. But its definitely great for an EDC use. I did snip off the sternum strap in a way that can be reattached when needed. I like the briefcase mode, but don't like are the placement of the side handle, as you have to unbutton to have acess to the main compartment. It should've been stitched on the same side as the other one. Even solve the issue with adding the same top handle to the side.
Corporal reminded me to check in with you. Love that pack! Get well soon, keep on doing that thing you do! Side note, as far as extra ammo I load up a couple of additional mags so I can grab and go more easily as well as it packs down better.
Very much in agreement with you about not filling every compartment but using them as carry options when your gear needs to fluctuate. I am perplexed by reviews of pocket carry organizers that are jammed beyond capacity and no longer pocket friendly. Making life bearable makes survival more likely since morale stays high so whatever you need to accomplish this is worth carrying. This pack suits the Junkyard Fox vibe.
I was surprised to see that Bowie knife inside that nice backpack. I would love to see you make a one stick fire, chop up dinner, and survive a brawl on a sandbar with the Bowie 😂
Part of me thinks it needs a good boar hunt and process... but also the realistic part of me knows that's a tall order to ask for haha! Lets see the basics of chop baton and feather for sure!
Regarding your last comment/gripe with the chest straps… couldn’t you pass them up through the molle webbing above them for storage? I know its not aesthetically pleasing but its a solution to that issue. Or maybe you could add a small carabiner to replace the D-rings if you cut it off, or use cable ties when you want it back on. Again, none of them are ideal and are a little bit of a faff, but they are possibilities. Anyway, this is great video, Ive come back a number of times to view it as you’ll see in the comments. I live in the UK where this bag isnt available to purchase. My old man lives in Canada and had a friend going to the states to visit family, so he ordered it for me, has brought it to canada to my dads but there’s currently ongoing postal strikes. I’m hoping to have this by February/March next year all being well. I feel it’ll be worth the wait!
I like the wide shoulder straps, the subdued molle, chest strap, ykk zippers, but it's not all blades and ammo. I have many waxed canvas items, and that pack looks suspect to me. It looks like many things sold on Amazon that are advertised as waxed canvas that are not. A good test is to fill with wadded newspaper and put the pack out in a downpour or a sprinkler for 15 minutes. The water bottle pocket appears to not fit a standard 32-ounce water bottle, which is a deal breaker for me. Also, I can't stand the section of fabric between the shoulder straps that forces the pack to be lower on your back. This gives any weight the pack has additional leverage against you. Although this is limited since it it such a small pack. Just my thoughts
As I mentioned a few videos back, I bought the Dagen pack after seeing Cuervo Negro review it. It is a quality made pack and I'm glad I bought. I put a slim line stainless steel Stanley thermos in my water bottle pocket and it fits perfectly. I do agree that the chest strap can be annoying at times and should have more adjustability both up and down as well as being completely removable. Great review James! Also recently purchased the Sofirn flashlight after seeing your review of it, nice light for a very reasonable price.
Really like it over all but I wish they would have at least put D rings on the bottom & top to fasten straps for a blanket or poncho/jacket......... I know it is basically a day pack but where I live a poncho/quick shelter and my wool blanket are always on my pack for a day hike and also stay in my truck for those days..... a day hike in the mountains of New England (exspecially N.H/Maine) should always include 48hrs of survival in it for the season your in ....My poncho and old military wool have saved me twice over the yrs.
Thanks for the through and authentic review of the bag! I love it when people share their true opinion and use cases of features rather than copying/repeating what's been said before! Also the bag heavily resembles the new series of Kankan bags by Fjallraven which is my fav dayhike / city exploring etc bag.
Would love to see you try a figure 4 trap with that big ass Bowie. It looks epic. But if it was the only one you had on you, how could you utilize it in trap making?
Nice pack for an EDC, agile and not cumbersome. No need to carry excess weight in a EDC situation and as you mention, you use in town as well. The chest strap can be replaced with after market removable one if desired or DIY one, can't be too hard. I know Texas law changed recently concerning the carrying of guns, open or concealed, check if your in compliance with the backpack, just saying. Here in New Mexico we've been open carry since time began but we have to pay to play the concealed game. Nice video, thanks. See ya next time.
Wow,amazing canvas backpack,and also,amazing selection of good equipment!. I'm also a Sig-Sauer user,in my case a P-226 AL-SO model,I think that in Europe we made the best handguns ( Sig,Glock,HK,Beretta,Walter,CZ,FN... ). My congrats,my friend,for a great vídeo,as always. Best wishes from Spain!.
Hay chest strap, they do make clip sorry I don’t have the name easily snaps off so that you could remove it my son gave two I put on a flap type panel your able put a hoody in!
Came here for the pack review, noticed you have the Pathfinder cook kit!!! Can you tell me if the bottle (by itself) fits in the side bottle pocket please? I have the same cook kit and wanted the bottle used more as my daily edc. Thanks for a great insight and review!
also, you could totally tuck the chest straps up through the molle loops further up the straps. Wouldn’t look ideal but if you want the option to have them rather than cutting them off, that could work :)
A "Sternum" Strap I.E. Chest strap. But no waist belt. So its a pass for me. Oh, not to mention the cost. Wire Bail, to your pot/cup. But it is a good idea. Of course you could have just drilled the holes and used a spreader, the kind you use for fishing.
Around 17 minutes you talk about the chest strap and I agree the chest strap should be adjustable in height and removable, but the shoulder strap on your left shoulder is twisted so that's also a mistake. Waxed canvas is strong but needs maintenance and is heavy so these are also downsides. There's nothing wrong with the presentation and of course it's your personal choice so I gave it a like. My criteria for an EDC or day hike backpack is would I also use it as a carry on on flights and for me that's a no.
Sometimes it's just good to have a large knife, we all know that most of the time you don't need one but a large piece of steel on hand just feels right.
I'm getting so annoyed with these chinese bags or template with their side pockets. I could barely fit 3 fingers inside them. I could barely fit a 500 ml water bottle inside them. I own a Czech m-60 Rucksack. I could fit the entire PFcanteen bottle, cup, and stove an I have more room to spare. I have destroy 3 backpacks with zippers. They ripped at the zipper. I carried a "World Famous vintage Camper Rucksack for highschool. It lasted my entire high school years. When I 'm thirsty, I want my canteen to be reachable. I don't want to fetch it inside the bag. If the bottle leaks, I don't want my items to get wet.. You can tell us how great the bag is, for me, it will always be a chinese junk. Thanks.
It looks like it could almost fall into the Gray-Man category!
Agreed. That molle though
Beautifull Bowie, just miss like a tourniquet or like a( bleeding) first aid kit....
Those shoulder straps look super comfy. Nice and wide , just like my wife.👍
This has gotta be the best outdoors channel ive come across, you guys are awesome ❤
Very cool, rustic, looking Bowie. I'm in the Florida Swamps, so quick access to a large knife is important.
Just ordered the Dagen. Very nice Bowie knife.
Greetings from Corporal's Army!! Subscribed already and wishing you a fast recovery.

Good video .
Thanks for the review on the back pack.
I love this pack. Thank you.
Good pack review! I also liked the Nick Skinner knife! Good video and stay safe and hydrated! I would mod a clippable water bottle holder from that chest strap! lol
That's def a nice day pack. Those rock formations at that location look very interesting and pretty cool too.

Best channel 💯🔪🤟🔥love the Edc Videos with shadow....... And the cooking and Outdoor Videos
Great video
I have that bag and use it as a blind bag when duck hunting.
Nice pack, looks like a good strong peace of gear. Thanks for sharing !
That’s an amazing looking Bowie, I’ve always preferred axes to large knives but that’s one I’d be prowd to own
A great looking pack. I like it. Cheers, James! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️

Love the knife. Put that bad boy on your hip. I'm new to the channel... sent over from the Corporal. So far so good.
Hello 👋 my outdoors friend, great review. Thank you for sharing it. Stay safe out there. 😊
Nice looking bag James, I'd use it for fishing!
Nice pack! Hidden Woodsmen also makes great canvas packs as well. Made in the USA 🇺🇸

It's looking like a pretty sweet pack . Certainly holds a good amount of gear
Awesome pack brother! Definitely be checking these out!
Nice review. Always look forward to your uploads

Use the knife to do the scene from rambo when he jumps down and spears the boar 😂 good looking blade

love it brotha
Would make a nice get home bag you keep in the vehicle.
Nice looking pack.👍
I loved the SOFIRN light...
Bad boy knife is sweet simplicity
Got one too. Love it but it sure took it a while for the smell to dissipate.
Great video, guys! Interesting pack. I agree with your assessment. I just wonder why it is over 2x more than their 45L 3 day bag. 🤔
Those pouches in the second glovebox are great for extra pistol mags
You should make a one tool overnighter with that bowie brother.
Would love to see you try a figure 4 trap with that big ass Bowie. It looks epic. But if it was the only one you had on you, how could you utilize it in trap making?

Junkyard Fox book reviews when?
I’ve made them and nobody watches them
@@JunkyardFox I will have to look those up then, thanks!

That Bowie looks nice where can I get one
?

hello, it actually doesn't fit. thats one thing I dont like about this pack, it really only fits standard plastic water bottles
@ ah yeah that’s a real shame! Though it is a particularly chunky vessel.
I was trying to find the knife you sale is it still available? Thanks
not available anymore
My only gripe would be those two front zipper pockets, they look a little tight. Those zippers would scratch my hand to hell whenever I reached in.

YIKES!
$100 for a 12 L pack
glad you can afford it, I can't!
don't know where you get the $$$ but I like watching 😼
Fist one. Sup fam fam
whatever the case may be
👍👍
Okay, use the knife to fight a Cougar, or Bear :) Okay, I'm being silly. But technically, that is why large Bowie knives where made. For self defense.

Nice pack,BUT.. Why dont manufacturers add water bottle pouches and large enough to hold 40oz.especially higher end packs
