You're keeping it real, James. I looked at this dude's channel a few weeks ago, wondering why Shawn Kelly was so wound up. Then I saw he goes after other bushcraft channels, too. I noticed he has no interesting bushcrafting videos, so immediately dismissed him as a crackpot.
Like Tom Hanks said in, "League of Their Own", "There's no crying in baseball!" I'll paraphrase and say, "There's no drama in bushcrafting!"

I used to follow this guy, and then he started calling out other bushcraft creators in what I can only assume was an attempt to discredit them in order to make himself look good. Unfollowed him post haste! That’s one of the things I appreciate about you and your channel; your integrity in keeping it real with your content. I believe people can see through the smoke screen. If they can’t see the truth, they probably don’t wanna see it. Props for standing up for yourself and calling him out. Not big on drama, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

These types of people are just markers of your success. Using popular channels for click bait since they cannot create any original content of their own. Trying to garner fame through association. Just a sign that your presence in this genre is reaching new heights. Unfortunately, I'm sure the higher you go the more this is going to happen. It's weird, for some reason, UA-cam started pushing his channel as a 'recommended for you'about a month ago... And is still doing it. Got 10 seconds into one of his videos, and that told me all I needed to know.
it seems like he's using the YT algorithm by invoking Creators with a High subscriber count, so YT naturally associates his channel with theirs. and when you see a thumbnail making an outlandish claim about that well known creator, naturally you click it. which in turn pushes it out to more people. because YT sees the initial impression is getting a higher click through rate thinking it's performing good. And when upset people leave nasty comments on his vids, YT doesn't differentiate between good or bad comments just that you're interacting with it. So the system sees people interacting with his content and pushes it out to even more people. the videos with the most views on his channel are the call outs on the high subscriber channels. but if you look at his "Original" "Bushcraft vids his retention and views are pathetic. his shorts have 1-12 views . he doesn't know how to make good videos so he's resorting to poor behavior. like James said it's the Jerry Springer tactic If everyone ignores him and don't interact with his content hell go to work at a Bucky's somewhere and be known as the grumpy old fat at Bucky's who tanked his shot at being an outdoor content creator online by pissing everyone off with his Bullsh?t attitude. 😂 stay cool bro James knows what's up. The desert is a harsh enough environment with out our help. I have no idea why I didn't sub you last year but when you came up on my watch list I had to give you a sub. I just found your channel last night on on Desert foods, found it very fascinating because I live in Arizona. Most survival channels are in the woods lol although we have woods in Arizona most of its desert. It’s nice to find a channel to show what’s edible in the desert keep up the good work, and who cares what that guy thinks, no one is perfect including him. At least you admit it. I suggest that no one go to his channel and comment. That is why these folks do this. To get people to their channel. They attack creators with large follower bases in the hopes of getting their view and comment counts up. I am new sub just two days now. No one with a brain that is marginally functioning is going to see this as anything you need to respond to. His channel will wither and die. BTW just moved to Texas for work and son going to school here. Love Texas! I feel at home here never really did where I grew up and lived. Learning about the state's dessert environment from you is an easy thing. Seen lots of "survival" channels regurgitate something from an old book without detail on how to use what is available... Keep doing what you do!

Reviews are made for constructive critiquing. Companies watch who is doing what and where and select a few that fit in with what their product is intended for. They should be looking for feedback for correction of flawed area or something that could be improved on BEFORE they mass produce something that NOBODY will use because it sucks. Hopefully they receive feed back that will help them improve it and not just, "well it's not good". Why isn't it good and what needs to be done to make it not "good" but GREAT. I live in San Antonio and enjoy your videos because I can relate to the environment. You and Bob Hansler are my favorite Texas Badass outdoorsman.

I'm a traditional trained and raised otoe Baxoje native and Mexican man. My brothers and I know how to rope horses, tie knots, gut and clean fish, farm, grow, and find food in plants which rocks to use as Flint, and more. I know the stars to navigate by night in the mountains of South Dakota where I climbed mountains in my youth but forgot to bring a flashlight and used a stick and the stars to navigate miles off and down a mountain and passed a bear hallow. Till the wind shifted and I ran as fast as I could to get away from the bear hallow. I survived and got back to my camp. I'm glad you are teaching the truth about fieldcraft in the desert. My paternal great-grandfather taught my dad old Aztec medicines and herbs and how to make healing salves and antiinfection pastes from desert plants. My dad used to break in horses as a young man in an old West-style country farm in Mexico. I know a lot of survival tools and ways. My dad and maternal grandpa raised me traditionally and I know a lot of stuff. I'm going to teach it to my adopted grandson as traditionally it goes to him. He is a really smart Lil guy. Bravo for keeping your cool and for keeping the screenshots as proof. Your doing well and congrats on the followers, God bless.
I remember in the video you definitely went over how hard it was to put water bottles in the side pockets and that you'd like it if those pockets were a bit wider to make it easier to use with water bottles.
Blackie Thomas reminds me of growing up in rural NC. This channel reminds me of when I was stationed in El Paso in the early 90s.

👍 James I have watched this ‘Mount Kephart’ channel a few times. Not all, but most of his videos that I have seen target other UA-cam creators with the same aggressive style he used about you.
For whatever reason he does not like Hidden Woodsman and is extremely critical of his products.
Hopefully, after watching a few of the ‘Mount Kephart’ videos most people will see he trying to build an audience by tearing down others.
His attacks are just pitches in the dirt, my advice is do not swing at them.

The hidden woodsman is a pricey bag, and that's probably why some people feel strongly against it. I have a few smaller ones, and don't have an issue with them.
