I'm a teacher, and this was the first in 5 years of teaching (and 15+ years of being in grade school, high school, college) that I did NOT catch pneumonia! It was a healthy (and cost effective) year for me. I hope others are staying healthy and safe as well.
This is the first year in many years I've not gotten sick since my son started school. I'm definitely keeping my mask for flu season, if I do get sick I'd like to prevent spreading it at least. Also my allergies have been more tolerable since wearing the mask regularly.

They've dropped the mask mandate here, but fitness folks and older people are keeping it up - and as those people seem to be shopping in the morning so am I. And you're right, even with the flu shot, I typically get queasy a few times during the season. But not this one - completely clear. Funny how need changes something from intellectually making sense (that you don't do) to a norm. Makes me think of the James Clavell book _Shogun_ where Europeans refused to bath until hundreds of pages in the protagonist finally admits taking baths and being clean is good.
That iPhone insult seems to be like an America's thing. In Europe you use your phone until it's broken or your phone contract expires and taking public transportation is our way of saving the planet, it's the most common thing to do, it doesn't mean you're poor 🤣🤦🏻♀️

America is so large and 97% of the land is rural and 20% of the population live in rural areas. It's a necessity to have a car. Only people in cities really ride the bus (unless it's a school bus) and only in certain parts of the city. If they want to travel anywhere they have to have a car. Public transportation is significantly difficult in America. Not to say that it can't be fixed, but... ya'know... politics...

It's not an American thing (from america), it's a spoiled entitled brat thing (most iPhone users that I met are, but not all). I've only ever gotten new phones when my old ones stop working, or if I have switched phone companies but that was in the past when phone companies made it so that phones from other companies weren't compatible. I hated that, however I think companies now give you free phones for switching over, or the offer phones at a bargain.
In re to the cookie one…the post was shared so many times that they actually sold out of cookies by close of business the same day..there were pics of long queues from all the people trying to show love & support ❤️🍩

I’m autistic and so is my son. I agree that post was offensive, yet hilarious. The lack of logic that they applied just highlighted their ignorance and prejudice. I can laugh for me, but it breaks my heart that people like this exist and my son and other autistic children may have to encounter them. It’s difficult enough for them to make friends, let alone having to deal with adults like this.
The bakery that offered the pride cookies had customers lined up around the block the next day, and sold out of everything! Even in Texas, people will not put up with that kind of hatred.

I respect the person turning their phone over - I would spend HOURS (literally) - basically every day for a year supporting, comforting LISTENING to my friend - as soon as I started to share something I needed to talk about she would *immediately* pick up her phone, and be completely focused on that (yes I did speak to her about it - several times - and no, we are no longer friends)
The pride balloon is hysterical. My grandma and her sister unintentionally went to Disney World during Pride. They both came back with so much rainbow 🌈 merchandise and were so excited about all the beautiful rainbows and the parade full of beautiful, brilliant colors. They had no idea. Lol 😆

The reason the "how many chromosomes do you have?" question is such a clever trap, is because having more chromosomes than a "normal" person is what causes trisomy conditions like Down Syndrome.
I’m also a southerner, I don’t call anyone honey. Mostly because I hate being called honey, hun, babes or any other variation from complete strangers. Especially when I’m clearly older than them 😂😂 it often comes off condescending when it’s well intentioned

I only had it happen to me once, by an older shoplady that I never met before, so I was kind of taken aback (that was in Ireland btw) so it might be something from an older generation. It made me kind of feel wierd, like "Lady, I don't even know you, why are you calling me an endaring term?" But I just didn't really react to it and ignored it.

They had a line around the block and sold out and people flooded them with money that went to a local animal shelter and raised over $7000 for the Lufkin high school diversity club 💕 even celebrities were contacting them for cookies
Re: bake shop-another reason why it is important to get a minimum of 50% of the total money for an order upfront/before doing the work and the final payment when the order has been completed so as to not have a total loss on the company side (i.e. bake shop); however, good on those who came to the rescue and shame on that entity who cancelled their order👎🏼
As a business owner who has endured plenty of customers who try to take advantage of a small business, I'd require full payment and a short contract outlining no refunds once the order has gotten started, especially for an order as large as 5 dozen. Customers don't understand that money was already spent on ingredients and wages, and should honor their commitment just as equally as the business.

I work in a nursing home and one of my patients called for assistance so I went in and saw he was struggling to put his dentures in. So I walked over and asked if I could help and he handed me the top portion and opened his mouth...problem was that he already had his top portion AND bottom portion put in, so I was so confused! I glanced down at the nameplate/ID on the inside of the denture and to my horror I saw his roomates name on them!! He had forgotten he'd already put his in and was attempting to jam his roomies pair in!!!! Needless to say it was barfworthy and ranks top 20 of the funniest/grossest things I've ever seen!!

In regards to Disney having similar looking characters, a lot of it is because there is a 'Disney look', so obviously they would have similar styles. Same here, and it was my best cedar season EVER thanks to WFH and that killer snow storm that took Texas down for a week. Cedar season usually means a sinus infection for me, but not in 2021. And I spent way too much money on stylish/glamorous masks to give them up despite being fully vaxxed. They will remain indefinitely.

I’m also a southerner, I don’t call anyone honey. Mostly because I hate being called honey, hun, babes or any other variation from complete strangers. Especially when I’m clearly older than them 😂😂

@bribripot yeah, uncomfortable is a better term. I only had it happen to me once, by an older shoplady that I never met before, so I was kind of taken aback (that was in Ireland btw) so it might be something from an older generation. It made me kind of feel wierd, like "Lady, I don't even know you, why are you calling me an endaring term?" But I just didn't really react to it and ignored it.

Re: bake shop-another reason why it is important to get a minimum of 50% of the total money for an order upfront/before doing the work and the final payment when the order has been completed so as to not have a total loss on the company side (i.e. bake shop); however, good on those who came to the rescue and shame on that entity who cancelled their order👎🏼

As a business owner who has endured plenty of customers who try to take advantage of a small business, I'd require full payment and a short contract outlining no refunds once the order has gotten started, especially for an order as large as 5 dozen. Customers don't understand that money was already spent on ingredients and wages, and should honor their commitment just as equally as the business.

We have a culture of boycotting companies for any benign reason we can come up with. Everyone has that right. And the free market still won out in this case. The cookies sold out.

I work in a nursing home and one of my patients called for assistance so I went in and saw he was struggling to put his dentures in. So I walked over and asked if I could help and he handed me the top portion and opened his mouth...problem was that he already had his top portion AND bottom portion put in, so I was so confused! I glanced down at the nameplate/ID on the inside of the denture and to my horror I saw his roomates name on them!! He had forgotten he'd already put his in and was attempting to jam his roomies pair in!!!! Needless to say it was barfworthy and ranks top 20 of the funniest/grossest things I've ever seen!!

In regards to Disney having similar looking characters, a lot of it is because there is a 'Disney look', so obviously they would have similar styles. They themselves have said they re-use/d artwork from old/previous works because it takes a long time to create, and if you've already got something that can be used, who wouldn't?

Same here, and it was my best cedar season EVER thanks to WFH and that killer snow storm that took Texas down for a week. Cedar season usually means a sinus infection for me, but not in 2021. And I spent way too much money on stylish/glamorous masks to give them up despite being fully vaxxed. They will remain indefinitely.

I used to be a bartender and almost all my customers became 'Hon' or "Sweetie" because I could remember their drinks but not the their names.
Referring to that "honey" post, I'll never forget the time this young introverted boy [18] had his first job as a cashier at our university. This lady [in her mid 40s] offered to show him the ropes and said "come here honey, let's show what we do in our free time" and the kid filled a report for sexual harassment. Sorry but if honey is sexual harassment, then half my home state would be offenders 🙄 would rather call someone "honey" over being transparent and say "come here you annoying little shit"
