6:46 Vasant Shinde confirmed OIT, but Gupta jee through his "Nehruvian scientific temper" negated the scientist himself and proclaimed: "Reading the study I don't see the evidence that makes him take that leap of faith."
Thanks Gupta ji to clarify that you know about the findings of paper better than the author, Vasant Shinde himself...

Whatever in sanskrit is aryan's making.. they were invaders with horses came to north india.. they created sanskrit, vedic system, caste system by making themselves as brahmins of the highest hierarchy.. the true indigenous ppl are the dravidians(tamils) likely originated from harappa civilisation at the lost river of sarawathy.. there is even an ancient tamil city of Harappa in pakistan.. u guys can google and see.. but indian government is covering up because mostly are aryans and they will nvr acknowledge tamil as the oldest spoken language in the world.. soon links to indus pictograph are being decrypted using spoken Tamil.. incredible breakthrough.. that would bring back glory to Tamils whom were suppressed by the aryans for centuries till today.. so dont believe onto whatever the aryans made.. they are the crook brahmins plundered india's wealth and followed by british.. the original proto-shiva seal found in harappa civilisation in a meditative state can be directly linked to south india... incredibly the harappa civilisation emphasised on drainage system, fertility, equility, animal rights, self and social well being plus also meditation.. all these with emphasise to water can be seen in our Tamil culture.. the aryan's are from mesopotamian blood where they believed in gods, kings, pyramids, zigurats, temples, hierarchy totally different from harappa civilisation where there was not even weapons or war.. that is the ultimate shiva's teaching brought over by the dravidians to south india.. aryan mixed and destroyed most of the authentic Tamil teachings.. by right dravidians dont even pray during their civilisation, they only meditate because they have already came to realisation thousands of years ago.. om namah shivaya

Traditions change, hinduism isnt purely aryan ideology, it was developed mostly under harappan influence. It is like a language, never born but always changing. The hinduism we see today is the result of mixing of then declining mature harappan and then developing aryan culture( which was then codified with writing of rigveda) and the later sub vedas, upnishads and puranas which often go a slightly different direction than vedic one shows the highly dravidian influence.
India is a castle with hindu kush, Karakorum, himalyas, and arakan in north and arabian sea, indian ocean and bay of bengal in south which often influenced the indigenous civilizations to go in a self centered isolation, but the heavy influx of migrations continued on due to fertile plains and good monsoon.
Three main migrations took place, first 65000 years ago by modern humans straight from africa, 9000 years ago from zagrosian farmers from southern iran and 4000 years ago aryan nomads from southern Kazakhstan ( they had the greatest influence on india which can still be seen in languages and ideologies).
And then many minor migrations from other communities like Tibeto-Burman and Austronesian speakers, greeks, jews, huns, shakas, parsis, turks, syrians, Portuguese, french, english and many more.
India has been a melting pot for all of its history, and since multiculturalism doesn't always go peacefully, we've had our fair share of violence, which we can learn from and grow.

Really appreciate the speaker's passion and effort. It's amazing how Rekhagarhi DNA findings have been politicized. Not surprised though since this is a sensitive topic for many Indians as well since many have their identity attached to greatness of noble Vedic culture and Aryan ancestry.
A few questions that pop up in the mind:
    * If India's political boundary today also included all the ancient Vedic cultures (Europe, Iran etc) and was called "Bharata", would one still be trying to prove "Out of India" theory?
    * Why not have a "Out of Kishkinda" theory where forest dwellers of Kishikinda jungles moved northward and mixed with Indians living in the gangetic plain (sure they do have some common genes)? or an "Out of Mexico or Brazil" theory where European migration into Americas never happened but it was the reverse?
    * How does one account for the fact that Europeans and most other Indo-European speakers in West Asia DO NOT HAVE any (that is, zero or virtually zero) South Asian IVC-related admixture in their DNA? (IVC = Indus Valley)? Does it not clearly show the direction of migration?
I think an Aryan "Migration" happened and not invasion - IVC was already on a decline when Aryans came to India. Sure there were some initial violent interactions between Aryans and early settlers people in IVC, but that was a norm between different tribes/races around the world at that time and shouldn't be judged by today's moral standards (Classic books such as Sapiens or Third Chimpanzee is a great read in this area). My admiration for "Maryada purushottam" Lord Rama or Vedas still stands tall despite Aryan migration.
An example of invasion is what Putin is doing in Ukraine today which is totally immoral.
I do understand there could be a political ramification of this where a certain section calls "descendants of these Aryan settlers" (read "upper castes") as "foreigners". Many fear this has the potential to divide India and I acknowledge that sentiment, however in today's connected globalized multicultural world, people of all cultures/castes/races are "melting", does it matter anymore?
If one reads books such as Sapiens and The Third Chimpanzee, we would understand how homo sapiens around the world are all connected, and have continuously migrated & come together to bring about big changes in how we live since we were hunter gatherers. No ethnic group around the world can claim an “original” homeland anymore, including the aborigines in Andaman or in Papua New Guinea. People need to be educated about this and the one-ness of entire humanity and not fall into trap of "one group is more exclusive/superior than other". Ironically, isn't this what "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" is about which we Indians are so familiar with?
We shouldn't judge history by today's moral standards. History should be accepted as it is without any shame - be it good or bad. Glory of our ancient past doesn't become any less, and I am still proud of our Aryan forefathers.
In conclusion, I would like to say that choice of words do matter as it has the power to send subconscious messages when we hear them. The words "invasion / raiders / annihilators / barbarians" isn't the right one to use for reasons mentioned above - context and history should be taken into account as well. Historians have a moral responsibility to be sensitive to perceptions created by the words they use.

@Msvks Indeed, and many "enlightened folks" mistake these Proto-Indo-European people to be Europeans, and so think them as somehow a part of "White Supremacy". This isn't leftist propaganda, this is a scientific discovery.
In fact, the Proto-Indo-European people didn't even look much like modern day Europeans, as revealed by facial reconstruction through DNA sampling.
Their features included dark (almost black) hair, dark (almost black) eyes, and fair skin (but not as fair as a modern day European). So how can these people say that Proto-Indo-European people were Europeans, when actually they lived in the Eastern regions of Steppe Grasslands.
Actually Proto-Indo-European people were the common ancestors of Greeks, Indo-Aryans, Persians, Romans and Turkic & Steppe cultures. But that's not to say that they didn't intermix with the local populations. In fact, there is more than enough evidence that this intermixing was very heavy. This also suggests that the Indo-Aryans had, most probably, Migrated to India, and NOT invaded India. Now these facts are true because of a number of reasons.
First there is the archaeological evidence. There is 0 archaeological evidence that Indus Valley People had any chariots. But there is huge archaeological evidence that Proto-Indo-European people had chariots. In fact, if you look at any ancient region during the start of Iron Age. where there were any kind of invasion or migrations, you'll find that the natives never had chariots, but these invaders or migrators did, which further proves the point that chariots were introduced in India by Indo-Aryans which were not native to the subcontinent. Also there is 0 archaelogical evidence that Indus Valley People had discovered Iron, but yet again there is huge archaelogical evidence that Indo-Aryan people had discovered Iron and so they used weapons made up of Iron, which coupled with the chariots, gave them a huge advantage against the natives.
The second is the DNA ancestry. Most modern day Indians have a chromosome that is particular to people in the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa and Eastern Europe. Similarly, they also have a chromosome that is particular to people in South Asia only. This is the biggest proof of intermixing of populations.
The last and most important of all is linguistics. If you do a linguistic deconstruction and then reconstruction of Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, Ancient Latin, Old Persian and certain Dardic languages, then you'll find that most of them have similar sounding words, or have similar word roots. This all points towards one thing that all these languages had a common ancestor, and that language was the Proto-Indo-European language. Now why do we say that PIE is the mother of all Indo-European languages? Why isn't it the other way around? That's because archaelogical findings and carbon dating have shown that the Proto-Indo-European people had lived way before the people of Indus Valley actually created a civilisation, so obviously their language is much older. Now I don't know what more to say. I mean, if you look at a country as large as India, you have people who speak different languages, have different customs and traditions, and not just that, people living in even the same part of India can have very distinct facial features, be it skin colour, eyebrow ridges, lip width, nose width etc.
So when there's already so diversity in our country (certainly more than most other countries), then why is it so hard for you to digest the fact that this diversity could very well be due to intermixing of native and foreign populations. It's not propaganda. It's a theory, and a plausible theory at that.
To claim that Indians never intermixed with foreign migrators, remained isolated for thousands of years, and yet somehow have one of the most diverse population in the world right now, is bonkers to say the least. There was most probably a significant foreign migration into India towards the end of Bronze Age. And that's not even a crazy argument, since human populations have a knack of travellingnfrom one place to another, and for intermixing with other populations, more than you can even imagine.
As regards to this being "White supremacist propaganda", then no. Sorry, but it isn't propaganda. It's an on going research, which as of now, strongly points towards these Central Asian (and not European) Indo-Aryan people migrating into India and intermixing with the natives, including Harappan people, to form the hugely diverse population that we have today.
And it's not bad or anything. Personally, it feels good to see that although a lot of people in South Asia, Middle East, Central Asia, Eastern Europe and North Africa, now have different cultures, speak different languages, and even look different, but just 5000 years ago, our ancestors were (mostly) those same Central Asian nomads of the Steppe, which connects these different people. So in a way, it unites us humans. You should take it positively this way, rather than scorning it for not "matching your ideology".

@Msvks Exactly my thoughts, mate! India has had a very long history and such a diverse culture and heritage. I'm a North Indian by the way, and to be honest, mostly the less educated or illiterate people here support the counter-theory. The educated ones here don't support this counter-theory. Still, it hurts me to see that so many people are so blinded by their ideologies that they fail to analyse things rationally and scientifically.
Such people just want to "prove" that their culture, language or religion is better than the others. Indeed, they are paranoid that the India's diversity could hamper its unity.
But in doing so, they fail to realise that the real beauty and greatness of India lies in the principle of Unity in Diversity. The fact that we remain United as a country even after so many differences is highly remarkable and, as you stated, worth celebrating.

See technically Indo-europeans arrived in India around 1500 BC, where as the arrived in europe around 2500 B.C. the similarities between Vedic religion and European pagan religion are enormous. There is no proof of indus people leaving south asia, even till today we don't find genetic footprints of Indus people in europe. Also vedas were written between 1500B.C. to 1000 B.C. putting all this together it is fair to say that Indo-europeans were the people who brought Vedic Culture in India, from Central asia with there language which in the influence of indigenous languages turned into sanskrit. Weather they invaded or migrated is debatable. But Certainly People Indus Valley were far superior both in intellect and techniques then them. If it was not upto 900 years of drought in India the Indus Civilization could have reached uncomparable heights.

By tracing the genes how does one conclude knowledge came from outside, knowledge has evolved out here over a period of time .... pity the chaps who state civilization was brought in when there is clear literary evidences of the metamorphosis of knowledge evolving in this geography... sad a few calling themselves intellects have been selling with ulterior motives, this as history on us all these years.. there's more evidence of ramayana events than Alexander's Indian conquest which are based purely on Greek literature written 300 years after his comming, whereas one can extrapolate digitally the astronomical data with the dates of written events mentioned in ithicas besides there's lots of regional folklore & traditions along the route ram was said to have traversed before reaching Lanka, even the shallow stonework underneath the Ramsethu connecting the island with the mainland is technically claimed to appear more man made than natural.... there's need for scientific research in the universities... atleast there's need to educate these so called historians not dismiss these as mere as mythology.....

Dear Krishna kumar, why asking foreigners for proof. Where is your intellect to prove it. Even if it is true, it shows the dirty mindset of our community for not transferring technology to others, except Brahmins as par Manu Samhita. If Brahmins are no knowledge it was not grown. Neither scripted. This is called biasedness and discrimination towards own community by Brahmins. And you feel proud of it. When you have no evidence to prove your ability except Ramayana and Mahabharata, how we will become wishwguru. Simply because you're telling it and you are brahmin. A born super by caste. Very funny. This is the reason India became slave for hundreds of years because Brahmins never wanted all the citizens to prosper. Now playing victim. Again you people are that dirty trick, but will be failed miserably as time is changed.

Were Mughals and British of Indian Origin? As per OIT this maybe the case.
This is the ancient migration path of Vedic Hindus: Ahimsak civilized Vedic Hindu from India --> Central Asia (yamnaya, sintashta, Andronovo who were nomadic and violent) + Afghanistan + Iran --> Europe + England. This entire Vedic land was "Bharata".
Then logic says these very same people came back and ruled India as Mughals and English! So Indians came back to rule themselves?🤔

Genetics can only show migrations, but cannot trace their languages. So, even if Steppe people migrated to India, it does not prove they brought Sanskrit and veda with them. Rather, most Harappan sites contain cultures of Veda, such as Havan alters, Shivlingam, Mother Goddess and yoga postires, which are 2000 years older than the migration of those Steppe people. So, Vedic culture is indigenous to India.

What seems to have happened is that while people came from outside, the culture was either a mix of Indian original people's culture and the Steppe pastoral people's culture or predominantly an Indian original culture. The reason being that this culture has certain aspects not found anywhere else (Vegetarianism, burning of funeral pyres, the emphasis and deep respect for knowledge, relative non-violence, less social & gender divisions, very well laid out cities etc). We lost a lot of these great aspects and some made us weaker as a nation also (probably specially the emphasis on non-violence), but there is bound to be immense respect for such an advanced culture in such ancient times.

Politics aside, Indians are mostly a mix of hunter-gatherers group that migrated from Africa 70,000 years back, Elamo-Dravidian migration around 7000 years back from southwest Iran (Indus valley people) and the so-called Aryans from the central Asian Steppes around 3500 years back. There were significant mixing early on until the caste system was put in place about 2500 years back. So Indians by and large are in a spectrum with the more light brown skinned people having the central Asian gene on one end of spectrum, the dark-skinned people on the other end of spectrum with more of the original hunter gatherer gene and majority in the middle which is a mix of all 3 types. Right wing politics would try to disprove this in the hope of creating a united nation with indigenous Hindu roots, but the truth is far from that.

@@babla69420 looking past the facetious ending to your rather late yet timely reply I would let you know that my position on the Aryan invasion/migration theory is that it is a whole lot of bunkum which was concocted by western "scholars" of linguistics and when that couldn't stand the rigors of adequate evidentiary standards they were imminently followed by "scholars" in genetics in the post-modern era. The entire basis of the theory is rooted in deep seated insecurities of the west regarding their insignificance in ancient civilizations, as with everything else they want to hyphenate themselves into significance by usurping it through arguments fueled more by sophistry and creativity rather than science. I would refer you to the book "Aryan Invasion: Myth or Fact?: Uncovering the evidence" which has tried to objectively evaluate all the mental gymnastics that the western scholars have to go through to justify which side of the road between India and Europe came first. There is no genetic evidence that the Aryans did not migrate to North India 4000 years ago. The Aryans came from the Andronovo culture and established the caste system. This is why Brahmins have the highest frequency of steppe DNA.

This whole comments section is filled with people who have started arguing about the validity of the Aryan invasion theory. It truly shows us just what kind of a world we are living in today. We are living in a world where crazies on the left think that every great invention has happened because of western civilization. And then there are crazies on the Hindu right who think that everything good that has happened is because of the Vedic civilization. Christian right wingers would say that the West civilised the entire world. Muslim right wingers would say that Islam is the only true way and all the good that has happened in this world has happened because of the Golden Age of Islam during 800-1100 AD. Maybe one day even Buddhists would jump into the fray and start claiming that atomic science would not have existed if the Buddha wasn't born in Nepal. Every culture has this mindset of seeking validation by slapping their own backs and bragging about their so-called achievements. It just seems so depressing that we live in the 21st century and we still do not acknowledge this simple fact that all the progress that the human civilization has made is because of the combined efforts of all cultures and empires that have lived on this planet. No single culture is necessarily superior or inferior to any other culture. It is this supremacist mindset that is responsible for so many problems today. Please everyone. Just calm down. Just for once, think of yourself as a human first and then as a Hindu or a Muslim or a Christian or a leftist or a right-winger. And another thing. I am grateful to the entire team of The Print(including Mr. Shekhar Gupta whom I really love) for bringing such non-partisan perspectives on various hot-button topics. God bless The Print. God bless everyone. Love from Kolkata.

Agreed. A culture develops in a specific geography and is valid only in it. Imagine celebrating holi with water in Iceland or having Ramazan on North pole where there is no day or night for 6 months. a culture is only valid till it's geography.
And as far as Aryan invasion theory goes, even dr Ambedkar declined it.

If we accept that India has seen inward and outward migration on all times and ready to consider everyone as equal citizen of India then there is no issue here. At the end you said she was haryanavi, [you said: “causing such a big news in the world, i can tell you it had to be only haryanavi”](because you yourself is a haryanavi) which makes it a political statement, in a sense because people in our country divides themselves by religion, caste, regions etc. Though throughout the video you were asking us not to be politicized.you made a political statement yourself.

@@bvshenoy7259 Thanks this one is new to me. I will give it a read. Although, Rigveda do mention about Vedic people migrating out of India in big numbers, so this paper may corroborate with Rigvedic records. I think there is more than enough multi disciplinary evidence in support of Out of India theory. The complete rigvedic chronology, puranic chronology, dating of Mahabharat & Ramayana and Vedic artifacts found in Indus Valley sites all together makes a good case. Srikant Talageri has done an amazing job presentic irrefutable linguistic evidence of the origin of Proto Indo European language in india.
As Niraj also said, its only the NON Scholars of India specially in media are the paid propagators of Aryan theory. Otherwise there is no "Certain" evidence of inflow of large migrations or languages.

Since 1947 we learnt of a guy called Akbar. An invader. And other invaders. Yet logic is tried to be seen from the dna of 2500 year old. India's entire system of history is distorted to suit, rather than to portray, truth, and until school History books start showing Indians only, while showing the thumb to invaders, then and only then can one look at real Indian History dispassionately.
