- Researchers from Deccan College Pune along with the Central Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have established that human remains discovered at an ancient site of Rakhigarhi - a village in the Hisar district of Haryana - date back around 8,000 years. The discovery has been made during the third phase of excavations carried out by the ASI along with various teams across the country, including researchers from Deccan College Pune.

Most IVC sites are India, the term “Indus Valley” civilisation is a misnomer as most sites aren’t near that river, most sites are actually near the dried up Sarasvati river explaining why India has more IVC sites than Pakistan.
The oldest IVC site is in India, the biggest IVC site is in India, India has more IVC sites than Pakistan, the oldest IVC city port is in India, although most South Asians descend from the IVC the closest descendants of this civilisation are found in India mostly compared to Pakistan.

The dust is being dusted away. I am expecting for the discoveries to date back to 40,000 years back at least. It could be maximum up to 60-70,000 years old if we are the original settlers of this Indian Peninsula. That's when the first human migrations out of Africa started travelling eastwards and would have reached Indian Peninsula in the range of 60,000 years ago. The growth pattern of settlements along the human migration route, keeps branching out in a fractal pattern ( like a snowflake ). The humans travelled along the sea coast line, rivers and valleys. In travelling so, the early humans triangulated entire Indian peninsula and because of fractal spread of settlements, they became denser and started frequently interacting with other settlements, leading to bigger complex societies, eventually leading to a widespread homogenously home grown Harappan Civilization.

what happened was really simple. Multiple human species evolved and lived for hundreds of thousands of years. But became a civilization (i.e. started farming and settled down) in certain regions simultaneously. Mesopotamia and Harappa were two such regions, independently evolving and of course later inter-mixing due to travel and trade. That is all that happened. This is what we would have expected to happen and that is all that happened too :)

So you are going to keep finding older settlements in multiple places - especially in the tropical, riverine areas where humankind originally settled down. This is all to be expected. There is no mystery about any of this. It is natural history of evolution. Except humans have the biggest brain which helped us become the species with best chances of survival and evolution. But this is all not guaranteed. Like dinosaurs went extinct, it is entirely possible that the human species will also get wiped out by a planet scale event. Harappan civilization is Indian civilization not Dravidian settlement. There is no concept of Dravidians until modern historians and separatist created it for political reasons.
Well, in no history book I read in my school days said that Indus Valley Civilization (Harappa -Mahenjodaro) has Aryan roots. It was always considered of indigenous origin. Rather, the Ganjes Valley/Vedic civilization is considered as of Aryan origin.
