We think Moenjodaro and Harappa were discovered in the 1920s. This is wrong. It was discovered almost 100 years earlier and the British rushed a team to Iraq (Mesopotamia) as a consequence. When they realised the significance of the findings (out of India) they not only spent the next few decades removing all evidence of the link and then used what remained as ballast for the Lahore-Multan railway, they also partitioned India to keep the sites in the hands of "fellow Abrahamics"! Why was this so important for them? The origins of known civilizations demolished the carefully built narratives around what was projected to be the roots of "Western Christian Identity"! Partition was an elaborate coverup!

Smita madam , you are now a pioneer. The mainstream media just shut up on this subject. The very prospect of formally challenging the AIT was apparently a no no for the anglicised gentry and public intellectuals which included media , academia and strategic thinkers. It was as though they were kicking the can down the road under the plea that it is early days to conclude anything so why stick our neck out in giving the new thought leaders any chance ? This chapter has to be taken head on. We need massive amounts of multipronged research into archeology , epigraphy , architectural history, metallurgical studies of early bronze age and earlier periods. Now that we are laying a claim to resurrect our collossal civilisation we need hard empirical evidence and ground facts. Govts must be punched into action by mass awareness and pull factor. Please concentrate on a badly neglected subject which is now a policy priority - Indian Knowledge System. Pl interview people like Raghava Krishna founder of Brhat, the Indic reniassance organisation. He is a scintillating intellectual. The pushback against IKS is severe. Pl intervene , bring the subject above the water level. Remember Neera Mishra was solidly prevented from archeologucal excavations in Purana quila for 30 years by the lobby backed by none less than the Aga Khan. They wanted to put the start of the history of Delhi with the Islamic invasions and shut out everything else before that. Please act , you have great credibility. Give the new evidences and scholars a wide berth.

Hi Smitha, Hooe you take this as a constructive criticism but you really need to stop interrupting your guests. The whole point of a podcast is listening to an interview in the long form. The interruptions, even if they are a single word, can break the chain of thought of the guest and puts off the audience as well. You have a great show and a plethora of great guests. Would love to see you make the most of it.
Kudos to Dr. Manjul that despite the scarcity of fund available in the last decade to Archaeological Survey of India from the Union Government he had concentrated work in some fronts. There is a huge scarcity of such fund in the North East India.
Ms. Smitha Prakash, Your subject video, your choice of the narrator, ie. Shri Sanjay Manjul and your questions put to him are very valid, brilliant and scintillating. It seemed as if I were myself asking questions which has racked my brains for many years. I would like to put my own theory of the Indian civilisation as I see it. There is no doubt that we can trace our ancestry to Africa. But there were two streams, one coming to India via the sea route from Magadascar and the other coming through the land route, from Kenya. At that time the continents had begun to drift apart. The sea route people were short and sturdy while the land route people were tall} and lanky. They maintained different cultural outlook. In Kenya there is s snow covered mountain called Killimanjaro, shortenened Kailas, by the Indians. They worshipped the dead, i.e., ancestral worship. Where the lanscape lacked mountains, they created stone grave edifices. The Pyramids are a replica of the mountains. The Magdascaran people who came by sea, cremated their dead, or put their remains in mud cisterns, buried them underground. You can see such sites in Kerala. The differencec between these two migrators was that the people in the south believed in the soul which returned to earth after a cycle. Hence on one auspicios date they would offer these souls good food, while the Kenyans believed that they would enter snother world and the descendents would would furnish them with food, weaons, servants etc to accompany them in the next world. Such belief gave rise to the gods, Indira, Varuna, Vayu, Agni etc. You can see the connections of words like, Simha, (lion), Shul (spear), Shav (dead body) and Shiv (god) associated with the Kailas mountain. There are many more thoughts to be shared with you, but later.
This is an interesting and important podcast; unfortunately, for those who don't understand Hindi, there aren't even English sub titles to help them know what is being discussed. This omission excludes them completely.

So it seems more plausible that the aforementioned groups gave us Indians our Steppe ancestry and not the Steppe pastorialists as their number is quite insignificant to introduce steppe ancestry in all of Indians. So this throws out the Idea of yours that Dravidians were the IVC people and Aryans introduced Sanskrit and whatever bs you guys concoct. @@goddalehundibharathraj4374
💯% agree, the East Europeans took wrong panga with their Indian fathers 🗿

Great topic.. thankyou Smita ji for inviting Sanjay Kumar Manjul ji .
Now take a minute and reconsider the amount of BS we Indians have been taught in our history books....be it Modern Indian History or Medieval or Ancient. The amount of lies put in our mind and younger generation to make us cripple mentally. Oh God! What kind of sick people we had surrendered our education system to!
But thankfully slowly but brightly The Truth is coming out in light for our future generations to see, read and realise the amount of Purusharth our ancestors did. Vande Mataram. Har Har Mahadev 🙏

"What an amazing podcast!" I just wanted to say congratulations on producing one of the best episodes to yet. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Manjul's discoveries were very insightful, bringing a level of knowledge that definitely set this episode apart. Special thanks to ANI for organizing such an excellent discussion. Congratulations to the entire staff on generating content that keeps us engaged and informed. I look forward to more wonderful episodes in the future!
Please invite Dr Niraj Rai and prof Vasant Shinde in this series. Both of them can take this conversation forward. Thanks.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to understand the history of our civilisation. I could not understand the whole conversation. May I request an English translation, please. My ancestors left India in 1844. We were colonised my the British and we lost our connection with our family in India. Wow such a good podcast. History is such a beautiful subject.
Our school books made sure that history studying was as boring as possible.
Idea: can archaeology be taught in schools and high schools, as part of history? Will it not make history interesting?

First of all thank you so much for bringing this podcast. I have been listening to podcasts on this subject but this one is the far BEST. Thank you so much Dr. Sanjay Manjul your way of explaining is very detailed with such calm and sweet voice.
Thank you so much . I learned so much from this podcast. And Smita your voice sounds so beautiful and thanks for asking so many intelligent questions. I will have to listen to this again to absorb all the info.
THE BEST PODCAST ARCHEOLOGY. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This podcast needs to be watched by every History student.
How many people are really interested in the subject?
Whole Dr Manjul family is contributing greatly to NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGY.
Thanks a ton ❤❤❤
Thank you. I showed this to my children as well so that their knowledge of bharatiya history is correct.
Listening to this conversation was a most fulfilling experience. Thank you so much. 👌👌👌♥️
Very informative, very scientific and knowledge oriented podcast, I must thank Smitaji for asking right & genuine questions at right moment, kudos & thanks to the guest for answering and sharing very insightful knowledge with us. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
From a person born in Rajput family in Pakistan, whose ancestors were from Rajasthan area is deeply interested in ancient civilizations of Subcontinent I am proud to be of this civilization rather than Arab or Turk invaders. I will never know why my ancestors came to this part of this beautiful Subcontinent and will not judge them. Harapa and Mohenjodaro are treasures just like Dholavera and Hiryana ones.
Good thought

I know bro we the subcontinent people were much advance than contemporary civilization like Mesopotamia and egypt . And as u know Europe then was just barbaric land 😂😂. We subcontinental people should be proud of our ancestors despite difference in religion which really doesn't matter in ethnicity
It was really enlightening to know the various techniques and how theories are deduced. Very beautifully explained. Ms. Smita very responsibly brought out the topic alive with apt questions.

Why this knowledge is not in popular media
Because “popular” media is full of s$&t. They are called popular media for a reason because they focus on what the majority want to see and a lot of people don’t care or not interested in anything beyond what affects their lives or celebrity/cricket culture. It’s unfortunate but the truth. Let’s be glad there are parts of podcasts and social media that is working to bring out the truth.
Popular ho jayega to aryan inversion theory ka phir kya hoga jo jame padaya gaya hai
Excellent presentation by Dr. Manjul. Why don't we start calling these civilizational discoveries as Bharatiya civilization and then divide geographic areas for Harappa, Rakhigarhi, etc.? It will help us and future generations think in a unified way, and also help us set proper correct narrative.
From first 5 mins it looks the 2005-2006 findings were either kept under carpet or a wrong narrative was created..
Deliberately mis-interpreted under political pressure😂
Dr. Manjul is simply amazing! Great interview. Thanks.

Should've asked about archeology in southern India. Most of these sites are in the north but we are curious to know what was happening in the south back then

Yes! That would be so interesting!

Amazing podcast!! It was extremely informative and an eye-opener session.. Any society can grow organically only if you are rooted with its history and culture. With discoveries like Dholavira, Rakhigarhi and Sinauli, it's time or history is re-wtitten and re-told.. and this time from Indian perspective. Thankyou Smita for bringing to us such a brain-storming couple of hours!! Kudos to ASI and the entire team for such valuable discoveries!!

Very good Discussion!. Very true Sundareshan1849. I see wikipedia sinauli site description posted some points which counters this (wikipedia can be disregarded, they have come up with points like cow cart, Aryans migrated earlier etc for 2018 findings ). But a good way should be found by India to publish this finding.

Very informative podcast. Once all the evidence and archaeological findings are conclusively validated, perhaps the ancient history taught in our schools needs to be revisited altogether. Hi Smitha,
Hooe you take this as a constructive criticism but you really need to stop interrupting your guests.
Why is ASI not using ground penetrating radar and other tech used in the west extensively?
They do use it, though they are highly under funded
Ms. Smitha Prakash,
Your subject video, your choice of the narrator, ie.
