I think the best part of this mod was actually the treasure hunting and mech shooting stages. There are some really really difficult obstacles. Security Hall was really clever as well. Eternal Engine took me 1 hour and 50 minutes to get the run I did. Were Arin Hanson, someone who yelled about how good Sonic games don't exist in a live show and quit his LP before Final Rush, ProJared, who told everyone who likes this game they're all blinded by nostalgia and LIED about there being no warning of the Dynamite in Eternal Engine, and PeanutButterGamer, who needed to look up a guide to find the Light Shoes in Metal Harbor and rage-quit at Death Chamber, all wrong? I don't believe it!
@@AkameGaKillfan777 I haven't played the game in a couple years but from what I remember most harder enemies towards the end of the game could still be easily run around or 'waited on' to attack then you do specific attack to destroy them. The merciless rate of fire + increased amount w/ strategic Vs cheap placement from them in this mod makes Sonic have to keep moving full speed in restricted space/dodge with Bounce Bracelet often to not lose rings(points) for starters and then plan fast which openings to take considering other enemies around are opening fire.. in the vanilla Game, as you say, you CAN use Magic Hands/Bounce etc but the game rarely encouraged you to use them outside of when it was designed to force you to - it was simply a 'now you have to use this ability you forgot about to proceed' instead of being incentivized to consider them- over standard jumping to dodge/wait to bait enemy openings. Idk, this mod's obstacles just seems much more strategic and maximizes reactionary but intelligent offense to maintain speed and points.

But no, the bullet hell spammed enemies and gates in your way that you either need to jump over or restart the level are cheap. In Eternal Engine the only place that got rid of all the doors that suck you out into space was on the path to the lost Chao, and was considered a trap.
I liked how each Knuckles song told a story revolving around each level. Aquatic Mine in particular briefly mentions how Knux would like to take it easy, but his duty to guard the Emerald is too important to neglect.

Most the roads are blocked, the radio even says "Block all major roads" They set it up to funnel Sonic into the arena that he fights the Bigfoot and then is surrounded by the GUN forces
Everyone in the comments is talking about "It's like what would happen if they actually wanted to catch Sonic." Did you guys forget they actually did catch Sonic after City Escape?
Yeah, they managed to get Sonic right after he fought a freaking mecha and met shadow, with like 15 robots surrounding him. The point is, it took GUN a whole day to gather a force who was able to catch Sonic :p
@@Swegin Wrong, Sonic actually let himself get captured. That what he said in the original Japanese Ver when Amy came to save him. He did this so that he could possibly learn more about Shadow and the situation he's in.
don't really like how heavily the design leans on things like gates slowing sonic down, that doesn't make the game hard so much as it punishes the player for not knowing the layout, which has always been the worst aspect of sonic gameplay imo
I'd say it emphasizes the platforming instead of blasting through, I think it fits well with the way Adventure 2 played. Though to each there own, hehe. o7
City escape is perfect it's like the military is actively trying to stop you. Placing barriers, a bunch of enemies, and blocking inexplicably sonic esque ramps.
The level design actually looks pleasant and would stand great as a hard mode for sa2, now just tone up rouge's stages and then it'll be impossible mode
That happens all the time: if you hit the spike balls at the end of Super Hard Metal Harbor, it will do the same thing. I just wanted to troll you at the start of the level :^)
Honestly most of the barriers are either, Unfair: the escaping the truck part you have to know they are coming Or time consuming: that slope where you have to break a bunch of boxes to progress for no reason at all other than to add time, it isn't even challenging The enemies are pretty good on the other hand but the blocked of stuff isn't really fun or challenging in a fair way
This is really cool! I always found the hard mode mission in this game often wasn’t really that much harder; I think this mod does a better job of that. I wish I could play it. It would be awesome if you can do more Super Hard mode mods like this.
This is what Sonic Adventure easy mode should have been like (if there was an easy mode, i can't remember) because it would make the game impossible to beat and that is what i call EASY (something I would never think of beating)

in city escape I don't like how there are roadblocks in the very beginning that if you don't jump over ramp you have to start over seems like more of bad annoying custom level design rather then it being truly hard but some changes are nice and some enemy placements but not all are good
This probably makes SA2 better because pacing in vanilla game was slowed down artificially by unexpected explisions you're supposed to memorize etc. to lenghten the game as if it's actually got more content. Enemy swarming on the other hand is a natural way to slow the player down without any unfair tricks. For abandoned areas like the Colony, for worldbuilding reasons, I'd rather go for making the player weaker rather than making the stage harder.

Here's something harder. Use this mod, with Physics Swap (all with SADX Super Sonic physics) and Free cam. That makes HYPER HARD MODE, Out of control physics, crazy cameras.

rouge's stage is actually pretty difficult the first time, its just that when you know where theu are, it becomes easier.
