I think this would be better if this mod had bosses. Like, imagine you beat every course, only to come back and have the one who interacted with you at the beginning of the slide challenge you to a race.
I've always loved slide sections in platform games, this whole hack is just dedicated to slides alone and I'm all for it!

8:25 this scene right here is really really interesting for me... It's just, like, a very adventurous shot, the lava flowing down, and your way out is inside this vocano already covered and you fly there. It's such a fun little moment, makes me want a mario 64 level where you climb/descend a fire-spitting volcano, like in zelda.

The wall kicks part in the cool cool mountain level seems like a massive difficulty spike. Goes from slides where it only takes a little effort to not fall off into requiring 4 wall kicks in a row or death.
That part is fairly difficult but nothing impossible. I think it is a reference to the star ''Wall Kicks Will Work'' in Cool, Cool Mountain.
@@projectlongplayWhich only requires two wall kicks and they're horrible, one of my least favorite stars. Definitely sounds above my pay grade difficulty wise

This mod feels like it'd be the 120 Star reward if Nintendo was remastering Mario 64 and really locked in
they did remaster mario 64. on nintendo ds with horrible controls and 150 stars and still no real reward for getting them all

Ppl only say 64 is better now cuz we can use any controller other than the wretched N64 controller.

@@psymar I didn't grow up with N64, I went out of my way to get one years later, whereas I did grow up with 64DS. Ofc there is bias there, plus my controllers were in less than ideal condition.
Playing the game via emulation imo has always been the best way to play it, but I'll always be okay with 64DS's controls

This is incredibly creative and respectful of the source material. Using key characters as the hint on the start of every level, using stage elements to flavor and make each slide unique, as much as I disliked the slide sequences in the original game, this still looks enjoyable and fun.

One of the truly more interesting SM64 ROM hacks, the level design is fantastic, doesn't feel needlessly enormous and has a great flow!

Great playthrough, I appreciate you doing things like going the wrong way in hazy maze cave or trying to jump through the paintings in the final star room, just to satiate the curiousity of us viewers
