It didn't look very exciting or interesting. Now, I did get a steam invite to try but my laptop couldnt run it well (at all) so I pulled out. Take a note from this, Concord.

Bro I hope this game becomes massive, as they continue to refine it in this early build. I want heroes, maps, game-modes, and creative fun builds to go for. I am in love with the sandbox that is this game, and I wanna see more , I am definitely addicted
Deadlock: An almalgamate of Moba and Hero Shooter, two of the most alienating genres in Modern gaming. But it's a Valve game... they will find a way to make it fun. And they did.
HotS only "failed to break into the genre" because the monetization model they chose for it wasn't profitable enough for them to find it a worthy use of their time. You could easily get most pieces of paid content through the lootboxes given to you for simply playing the game, and specifically playing a wide variety of heroes. The game itself is a great rendition of the moba formula that suffered from the success of it's lenient reward system
I don't think it was destined to fail, I think people were just (understandably) SUPER burnt out on hero shooters, and since most deadlock info was under hush-hush rules people didn't know what to think, assumed the worst and started just hating it based on assumptions. Great vid btw
A Russian player ported Deadlock to Dota 2. Like not just the character models. Players who play deadlock characters go into a 3rd person shooter perspective while others keep the top down look. It's crazy.
For myself I was fully oboard because valve was behind it. I easily could be burned with this type of thinking, but there are very few (if any?) companies I would go out on a limb for expecting a quality product. It's weird to call hero shooters oversaturated. People say that, but it's really only Overwatch. Paladins is also there but overall clunky and buggy cuz of Low Rez studios. Other than that there's like 5 other hero shooters that have come and gone, never really sticking around. Can you really have an oversaturated genre when there's like no choices at all? Additionally, HotS only died as it did because Blizzard is a shitty company who decided that HotS doing well wasn't good enough cuz it wasn't Overwatch. So they killed it and moved everyone to Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4. Didn't really have a fair chance cuz it had a garbage set of executives.
You know, if Valve wanna save Underlord (Cash grab, although development of the game was around the same time as TFT) and Artifact, they should integrate them into DOTA 2, ESPECIALLY Underlord. That would ensure that both games can secure a small but healthy niche playerbase that can attract those who wanna try them out at any time, hopefully. On another note: I think Deadlock will do fine becuz it has all the Icefrog’s footprints on it. I would argue that Icefrog, and the complete freedom he was given to design and maintain the way he wants, is why Dota 2 is still going strong for 13 years, despite having zero to not good advertisement (Dragon Blood cough cough…). As long as the fat frog is still around and is allowed to go nut with his updates, Deadlock will live long and receive frequent dev’s support like its brother of the same father.
My first reaction when it was first leak was "what a shitty character design and map is horrible. This is just probably overwatch but moba and I'm not gonna like it so I'll pass". Then I tried to play it. My life is now ruined.
the characters are beyond trash and you can't turn off their voices, which is cancer. they even made the guy who voices optimus prime sound like an idiot. be rewentwus

Like man, it's so awesome to see giant robots in samurai armour next to 1930s demon detectives, next to grannies with sci Fi plasma bows next to black guy that is on fire. Just honestly a fantastic art style man.
Honestly, my biggest concern with Deadlock right now is the fanbase. MOBAs are toxic and hero shooters are toxic, but both are toxic for different reasons. Deadlock is currently on track to combine the elements of both genres that make people toxic. If they aren't careful, they could create a community so nuclear that it actively damages the game's reputation.
How fitting they literally released a 'reputation' system in game with the last major patch. If you're toxic/disruptive and get reported, you can land in low priority queue, lose access to voice chat or text chat or even the pause function.
I'd say the title would be fit for some people. It was around the time the save tf2 thing was going on, people who had not played the game were already shitting on. If you looked up videos around the time you'd see a lot of folks hate on it and bring up tf2. I had been in the closed alpha and have seen this game change over and over again. Idk what it is but there's so many cynical people ready to say this game is dead.
Honestly i never liked mobas a lot, but i like shoters, i hope the game doesnt get 1 character per month that would break all the balance (that happend with paladins and overwatch) because is actually a good game
People are blaming tf2 fans for the toxicity here but honestly this time around they're very mellow. Don't think it's fair to just dumpster them, but seeing as a lot of OW players are hopping ship to try out deadlock I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to blame TF2 fans again.
I've only seen straight up hating coming off TF2 fans, most people understood it was an alpha game and either didn't care or had their doubts valve could pull a hero shooter.
emplemon is seriously a freak. his social media presence outside of his videos is pure toxic vitirol for everything on a phil fish level. he gets into arguments constantly.
Arguably the Hero shooter genre never really existed. outside of defining them extremely loosely as "shooter games with classes" in which case yeah the original call of duty games were hero shooters and so will any shooter game with a loadout. and if you put strict definitions on it you end up having TF2, OW(a tf2 clone) and paladins (an ow clone) the rest all vaguely fall between genres and are defined by different things. Hell before we had this whole term hero shooter people would describe games like CS as tactical round shooters saying it was defined by economy and rounds all these "genres" for the most part aren't really useful definitions and when they become useful as definitions the "genre" is already stale and formulaic.
I will say that I wasn’t really excited when I heard about the game. With words like MOBA, and Hero Shooter I thought it was going to be g to be hot garbage. Seeing game play changed my mind. And playing the game changed my mind

so i thought this was going to be a failure of a game too but i believe why part of the reason it gained the success is the intrigue, people wanted to know if it was gonna be really that bad then when everybody were able to get in to check it out, most peoples reaction was "hey, its actually pretty good."
i believe tf2 has been mostly left in the hands of the community to keep it alive mainly because the devs are no longer as passionate about it anymore and instead of doing a dota 2 7.0 update(also called the dota 3 update by me) or many of the other updates that has completely changed dota 2 tf2 is staying tf2 and not becoming an overwatch clone. i do think however this is a good chance to take inspiration from deadlock and make it work in tf2. mainly weapons or hats that have come from deadlock
1200 hours in tf2 and 600 hours in dota 2. I am addicted to deadlock.
seeing clips of ppl hating on deadlock was like looking into an alternate reality. ive seen nothing but universal praise and hype for the full release
bruh i know what kinds of people they are LOL... they dislike innovation and most of the haters are like TF2, CS and other shooter hero because they invested time and money over theyre game thats why its a pain when new and almost same game they play launches... cash grab or not gamers just want to play whats hot and move on to other new ones
ill go pro in this jawn i promise

EmpLemons video on this is one of the cringiest things he's ever made. Just wild baseless speculation based on rumors. Especially since when he made it I was already in the alpha before the NDA was lifted so I could already see the writing on the wall that this game was gonna be great.
This games honestly so fun, dunno what else to say. Movement feels really clean when you get to learn it, and its a really good way to handle a moba since I never would've played one otherwise, I have about 150 hours now
especially since ive never liked any other mobas such as league or dota 2
I was one of the people who initially, upon hearing about Deadlock, I was like "This is Valve? Thats.... I'm not sure what to say" when I saw those early leaks. It didn't look very exciting or interesting.
Now, I did get a steam invite to try but my laptop couldnt run it well (at all) so I pulled out. But I was amazed to see that, for something people had no real interest or hype for at first, how even though it sits at mixed reviews and I've seen plenty of people still skeptical about things, Deadlock making itself to where it is despite literally being a game that, officially, doesn't exist is downright incredible.
Take a note from this, Concord.
This game is fire from every aspect and the lore potential is going up the roof especially lash's lore XD
Ive been playing league since 2012 and love mobas but i would always go back to LoL, i loved paragon when it was out and i have been waiting for predecessor and ethereal clash of souls but unfortunately these guys took way to long and now that deadlock is a thing i dont think they can compete, ive even seen youtube channels dedicated to the paragon remakes and they have all mostly switched to deadlock aswell.. Deadlock is a masterpiece. The movement, items and overall game feel is incredible and I am so happy to say i havent even touched league of legends since i was given deadlock. ❤❤❤
I can physically feel the effort that went into the editing. Great video
Ivy best Gargoyle girl
You are gonna make it bro, just don't stop. +1 sub
dude i love the editing on this. i didn't know about the deadlock hate, ive just been loving it lmao
I don't think it was destined to fail, I think people were just (understandably) SUPER burnt out on hero shooters, and since most deadlock info was under hush-hush rules people didn't know what to think, assumed the worst and started just hating it based on assumptions. Great vid btw
Monetized social media has become a way for people to make ill-informed reactionary piss takes and getting paid for it smh
Oh god I immediately recognized that first video used. It was my first introduction to Deadlock. Quite humorous looking back on it. XD
People always seem to forget about Underlords & Artifact, deadlock isn't a "new" IP since poetal
those are dota games, so yes it is a new IP
A Russian player ported Deadlock to Dota 2. Like not just the character models. Players who play deadlock characters go into a 3rd person shooter perspective while others keep the top down look. It's crazy.
it was never destined to fail, it was just the bitter and utterly sad tf2 community shitting on it for no reason
The game is just massively fun! It's my main game now. I am addicted to it 😅
For myself I was fully oboard because valve was behind it. I easily could be burned with this type of thinking, but there are very few (if any?) companies I would go out on a limb for expecting a quality product.
After the first 10 hours I wasn't too sure if I would keep playing, but I'm nearing 60 and I can see myself playing this just as much as League or Dota2 for myself.
i dont allow myself to blindly fanboy any company again after the whole Blizzard mess LOL
0:32 bro forgot about Artifact 💀
Artifact is a dota game
How A Game Destined To Fail (By what TF2 fans with a failed protest said) Took Over The World
Great video, and glad someone called out the reactionary hate train of "tf2 fans". The "Dead on arrival" video is particularly bad because it was filled with misinformation and the OP was called out so hard he stopped responding lmao.
Keep cooking bro, you have a knack for videos
appreciate it big bro, the intention wasnt even to call out tf2 fans but some people just come to my comments and make it a pity party for themselves lol
@@dayytonaa i have 2k hours and never found the need to act the way these "fans" do
Games fun, no mtx, no season pass, no cash store, i cant stop playing it
Out of curiosity, how will you feel about the game when it enters 1.0 and opens up the cash shop?
@@anidiotwithabrain8971 I mean this is just a beta. The cash shop will be there. I just feel refreshed about playing the game since there is nothing to grind for other than get better and have fun. Valve definitely deserves the support and I’m sure they’ll design some cool skins that I’ll buy!
You guys starting to feel like the conversation around Deadlock was getting kinda melodramatic too?
as in people are hyping it too much?
@@dayytonaa No, as in people immediately decided to hate it
Hopecore posting. Gotta love it
this game is actually fun! sure wins and losses come! but honestly this is great! and the learning curve is nice
Bro wants to start a moba match killing people with 3 shots and rushing at sonic speed 😂
Great video man, you def deserve more subs.
ty so much brother
Very well executed video. Subscribed.
The saving grace of underlords is they use the "power off standby" feature for steam deck.
Bro your mousepad is fire, can you give a link to it or tell me where you bought it from?
ty lol its the GLSSWRKS Kazemi and its sold out sadly
My first reaction when it was first leak was "what a shitty character design and map is horrible. This is just probably overwatch but moba and I'm not gonna like it so I'll pass". Then I tried to play it. My life is now ruined.
the characters are beyond trash and you can't turn off their voices, which is cancer. they even made the guy who voices optimus prime sound like an idiot. be rewentwus
There’s only more hero’s to come
Now I love tf2 to death, it's one of my most favorite games but I personally love deadlock so far even though it's early in development.
it's new and novel, thats kinda all there is to it. gameplay is fluid and fun, it's paced excellently especially for a MOBA, careful to not overwhelm new players and the characters are great.
more like "how personal opinion without fact checking took a conclusion in 5 mins video"
We are addicted.
where have you taken those review numbers mixed/mostly negative? I can't review it on Steam.
you cant review it yet, its just more of a figure of speech tbh lol, sorry if i confused you
@@dayytonaa yeah it was confusing because it seemed like the game had hundreds of thousands of negative reviews
thank you for clarifying btw 👍
This game is cooking. Its already fun and they still have about a year to go. They just opened the server 24/7.
Im ready to lose my life to a new game, its been a while.
This is the first time I'm seeing hate for deadlock, I know it's not perfect and most likely have haters but I've seen nothing but praise and hype since the NDA lifted

Emplemon was so wrong and off base. Deadlock artstyle is very alluring and interesting. Even if it IS very different from TF2.
Bro I love a mish mash of noir, occult, and sci Fi. It's so awesome having these incompatible contrasting things forced together. Like man, it's so awesome to see giant robots in samurai armour next to 1930s demon detectives, next to grannies with sci Fi plasma bows next to black guy that is on fire. Just honestly a fantastic art style man.

I love how it's almost an insider that Grey Talon is a granny.
I love persona OST

Honestly i never liked mobas a lot, but i like shoters, i hope the game doesnt get 1 character per month that would break all the balance (that happend with paladins and overwatch) because is actually a good game
Deadlock is the new gen,tf2 fan's go cry to your dumpster
An Anti social toxic person shares traits with other anti social toxic users, who would have guess it?
I really liked the video but please try to get a better mic man trust me it'd make your videos much better!!
When was this game destined to fail?
wasn't artifact valves production?
Hot take we should all go work at valve and get on the tf2 team to savetf2
Game is fun not sure if it has the ability to actually last and reel players back in when they rotate out of the game like tf2
well i do hope i can join the deadloock cult too
Arguably the Hero shooter genre never really existed.
outside of defining them extremely loosely as "shooter games with classes" in which case yeah the original call of duty games were hero shooters and so will any shooter game with a loadout.
and if you put strict definitions on it you end up having TF2, OW(a tf2 clone) and paladins (an ow clone) the rest all vaguely fall between genres and are defined by different things.
