    I've played for several hours, and i can say this game is hot garbage in terms of core mechanics such as movement (really REALLY slow), unsatisfying shooting part (guns do no damage at all and THE ONLY way of aim you should train and have is tracking, no flicking, no potting etc) and it narrowing down to just spamming abilities and ults.
    Not to mention the worst mechanic to be added in a shooter - stunlocks, they somewhat work in mobas, but not in shooters with pace faster than in cs or valorant.
    Overall - you are a valve glazing copium addict
    upd
    4:03 yep, a valve glazing freak. Or a soy consoomer. These designs are as generic as they can get, some of them look ai generated. With like two or three looking good and having a good design

    Most of the hate for the game came from people who mostly see the game as "Hero shooter", insteads of seeing it as "3rd person shooter moba hybrid". As well as some people thinking "Omg Valve is gonna kill TF2 and replace it with Deadlock" (which isn't even the same type of games, these people are brainrotted).
    It is comparable to Battleborn in that regard, that is also what killed it. Just Deadlock is more fun than Battleborn I guess.

      deadlock just came at a good time under a big name. i loved Battleborn and Gigantic, and a few other similar games that all just released at bad times or no one ever knew about them, so im glad that a game like this is finally getting some traction and it's not just some simplified "for modern gamers" kinda thing.

    • @ChizuruMinamoto
      @ChizuruMinamoto 2 місяці тому +5

      @@boochaca7957 The big issue that Battleborn got is, it came out around the same time as Overwatch. And then, random people saw it as a hero shooter, and compared it to Overwatch. (As for Gigantic, I personally didn't hear about the game. Then again I don't follow mobas too much)
      The issue is, it wasn't strictly a hero shooter. And so the people who don't like moba gameplay at all (I don't like classic mobas myself, but the issue isn't the gameplay of a moba, it's more the controls) basically touched the game, and thought "this sucks", and then the next guy hears about people hating on it, and doesn't bother touching it and says "yeah it's shit, this guy said it's shit so it must be". I'm at least glad that Deadlock isn't as bad as people thought it was gonna be.
      Sure if you don't like mobas, sure. But if you like moba hybrids, the game is honestly fine, just think some characters from the test build need to be reworked and stuff, but you know... It's a beta, that's what it is here for.

    Deadlock: An almalgamate of Moba and Hero Shooter, two of the most alienating genres in Modern gaming.
    But it's a Valve game... they will find a way to make it fun.
    And they did.

  • @SnowFaceChamcham
    @SnowFaceChamcham Місяць тому

    HotS only "failed to break into the genre" because the monetization model they chose for it wasn't profitable enough for them to find it a worthy use of their time. You could easily get most pieces of paid content through the lootboxes given to you for simply playing the game, and specifically playing a wide variety of heroes. The game itself is a great rendition of the moba formula that suffered from the success of it's lenient reward system

    It's weird to call hero shooters oversaturated. People say that, but it's really only Overwatch. Paladins is also there but overall clunky and buggy cuz of Low Rez studios.
    Other than that there's like 5 other hero shooters that have come and gone, never really sticking around. Can you really have an oversaturated genre when there's like no choices at all?
    Additionally, HotS only died as it did because Blizzard is a shitty company who decided that HotS doing well wasn't good enough cuz it wasn't Overwatch. So they killed it and moved everyone to Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4. Didn't really have a fair chance cuz it had a garbage set of executives.

    You know, if Valve wanna save Underlord (Cash grab, although development of the game was around the same time as TFT) and Artifact, they should integrate them into DOTA 2, ESPECIALLY Underlord. That would ensure that both games can secure a small but healthy niche playerbase that can attract those who wanna try them out at any time, hopefully.
    On another note: I think Deadlock will do fine becuz it has all the Icefrog’s footprints on it. I would argue that Icefrog, and the complete freedom he was given to design and maintain the way he wants, is why Dota 2 is still going strong for 13 years, despite having zero to not good advertisement (Dragon Blood cough cough…). As long as the fat frog is still around and is allowed to go nut with his updates, Deadlock will live long and receive frequent dev’s support like its brother of the same father.

    Honestly, my biggest concern with Deadlock right now is the fanbase. MOBAs are toxic and hero shooters are toxic, but both are toxic for different reasons. Deadlock is currently on track to combine the elements of both genres that make people toxic.
    If they aren't careful, they could create a community so nuclear that it actively damages the game's reputation.

    Arguably the Hero shooter genre never really existed.
    outside of defining them extremely loosely as "shooter games with classes" in which case yeah the original call of duty games were hero shooters and so will any shooter game with a loadout.
    and if you put strict definitions on it you end up having TF2, OW(a tf2 clone) and paladins (an ow clone) the rest all vaguely fall between genres and are defined by different things.
    Hell before we had this whole term hero shooter people would describe games like CS as tactical round shooters saying it was defined by economy and rounds all these "genres" for the most part aren't really useful definitions and when they become useful as definitions the "genre" is already stale and formulaic.
