Nicely done! And thanks for posting this video! I have two suggestions for you. I believe that your drain plug should have a crush washer on it that is meant to be replaced each time. They are inexpensive and replacing this item creates a better seal there than re-using this washer. Also, if you turn the large oil jug sideways then it is much easier to control the pour at first. Try that next time and see how it goes.
@@kelseyheadrick9007thank you for presenting this video! It was instrumental in helping me change the oil in a ‘15 Subaru Crosstrek…not exactly a Forester but it was pretty much the same setup! 😃👍🏼
I'm just glad I don't have to take that plastic shroud off. Im big too so I gotta jack up the vehicle. jack point I used is directly in the middle of the car between the front tires.
Good job! An honest DIY tutorial that will motivate others to do their own oil changes. There are many more women in the automotive industry today than 20 years ago. I am so happy for that progress too. Happy new year! Take care and be safe! I’ve got a Subaru Forester 2016 with the FB20 engine. No turbo. Best regards, Jonas in Sweden 🇸🇪
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. I have worked in male dominated fields my whole life and always strive to motivate everyone who is eager to do things on their own. There is so much money to be saved!
Great video, thank you! Do you think I can definitely change my oil without jacking up the car? It looks kind of tight under that, but doable. Also, why don't you use a funnel when adding oil?!
Thank you! Definitely depends on the car. I was on an incline (not recommended) and thankfully my car is high enough off the ground. As for a funnel, I honestly continually forget to buy one. One day I'll remember!
@@kelseyheadrick9007 I have the same exact Forester, so I assume it has enough ground clearance. I am going to install a Fomoto oil drain valve too. You should check those out.
Oh yeah the ramps will help give some clearance - makes it easier to work underneath. Also with the ramps, use jack stands as an additional safety feature as well as wheel chocks for the back tires to keep from rolling back.
Lmao 😂 the further you have it back the better the closer the worse best pan I’ve used I use it always little drop nothing like this type of mess you too close and have a side ways to begin with go under car on you’re back too or get a creeper.😂
Every Dad would be proud to have her as a daughter!

I got a fumoto oil valve. So I never have spills any more And never have to take the drain plug out. Thanks for the video! You did a great job!
Super cool! I'll have to look in to that. My driveway has definitely seen better days.

Wow, good job, but you are right, you should've used the round drain pan. I use it and its way cheaper and I hardly spill anything, maybe a few drops.
Nice job duck. Your editing has come a long way.
Thanks bub, I can't say my editing in this video was too great but some progress is better than none.
Same thing happened to me on my legacy. Made a mess on garage floor. Lol.
Good! Thanks for sharing

Well done!
Invest in some ramps.
