That's not heart attack on a plate...?? What exactly on there or in the dish that constitutes it being unhealthy or "heart attack on a plate"? Cheese? hamburger meat aka protein? Tomato? carbs aka pasta?
You are right to question nutrition info presented here, as there is so much nutrition nonsense getting passed around these days. Not all proteins and carbs are equal. It is well established science that diets high in red meat (beef, pork), and refined grains (pasta, bread) are associated with higher incidence of heart disease and obesity, respectively. But don't take my word for it, definitely ask you doctor or cardiologist. Here is my favorite evidence based nutrition youtube channel if you're interested. www.youtube.com/@NutritionMadeSimple
I love your dialog. Priceless. I'm a fan. Your chili and beans were great. The chicken stew will be my next order of the day. I had to order the Bandia brand seasoning. Just got it from Amazon. I'll make it soon. I have a whole chicken and I think I will make some chicken noodle soup. With some of the chicken, I will make the chicken stew.
My husband found your chili video and enjoyed it. I watched a few other videos and have thoroughly enjoyed watching someone make a well balanced meal. (It’s priority in my house) Not a lot of people do that anymore! At least I’m not the only one! I’m a fan, and will continue to watch because of this.
I’m glad you didn’t add any beans. I followed another person’s recipe one time and it called for beans and my family hated it! I will be making it without beans from now on!
I'm looking up recipes for this because my father once ecstatically described the dish to me after he ran across it when he was in DC and I'd like to make it for him. Thanks.
Hi there so im thinking about what u said about putting chips on top and i have leftover nacho taco shells what if i crush them up and put them on top!! I got it in the oven just now so hopefully u see this if not ill let u know
So,okay, I made this today , a couple of minor modifications but kept the just 9f what you did, absolutely delicious, love learning new recipes, this ones a keeper, thanks Tom 😊
The cheese flavor.last common usually isn't included in chili seasoning but adding a small amount will make the chili tea st little smiley and deep enhance the flavor of you chili...
You can't find the hamburger helper chili mac any more. I haven't seen it on the shelfs in stores in my area for several years. I always liked to add shredded cheese to that too.
I know what you mean, I've been looking for the hh chili mac myself & can't find any either!!! That was one of the best they made. I wonder why they don't make it anymore?
I used no salt added tomato sauce and no saltbrotel here. I used a no salt alternative to salt and the only sodium I used here was in the cheese. Very healthy.
@@Kaiser499TV It's closely linked to heart disease and bunch of other things you don't want. Look it up on a reputable website. Don't take advice from me, some stranger on the internet.
Area things about the recipe. One 90% is fine but 80/20 will give it a beefier flavor as any cook/Chef knows render fat means flavor but you can drain any excess off. Spices should be added just a minute or two after the meat has liked out some fat which will absorb granular spices and prevent them from burning. A mix of American and cheddar will deepen thee
This dish doesn't have to be "obesity and heart disease on a plate." First of all, drain the fat out of the beef when it is done cooking. You will not lose any flavor, because the spices will be incorporated into the meat. Next, chop up some carrots and green pepper and cook it with the meat and tomato sauce. Or, you can just add a can of your favorite beans. Lastly, omit the cheese, and instead, just add some grated Parmesan cheese on top when serving. Boom - a healthy and filling meal.
So i make a box of thick and creamy kraft macaroni (it has actual thicker elbow noodles with a cheese powder that actually thickens up), then I mix in a can of wolf brand no bean chili (real chili does NOT have beans in it, this is a hill i am prepared to die on), and sometimes I may add a can of corn if I want a lil crunch in it
I wouldn't say this is heart attack on a plate. You used lean ground beef and you added no fat other than the cheese. Yes sodium levels are probably high with all the different spice blends you used. That is why I prefer to have diced onions and fresh minced garlic instead of the powders. I also dice some green or red peppers and add to the stewing process.
Looks friggin good. But, as a plumber, run cold water in drain beside the other sink so boiling water isn’t going directly down drain, hard on the plastic parts, they are getting so cheap nowadays, it’ll save in the piping ect.

Try making it with gouda cheese sometime, seems like it'd be a good cheese for this
Why don't you give it a try and report back how it was.
Thanks Tom, i did find it useful 😊

This is not healthy food. Pasta and beef are much worse for your health than salt.
@@homecookingwithtom Not sure why you think Beef is unhealthy for you.

Looks healthy to me if you don't eat the whole pot and sit on the couch all day lol
I had the most brutal birthday dinner of all nothing.
Thank you for using onion powder! The entre world doest all like onions!
Or mushrooms.

I'm trying his recipe because every time I make chili mac it's watery.
Hope you enjoy!
I use my own spices, because I can't eat peppers. I'm allergic.
Great idea with the potato masher! 90% of the views on this have to be jar heads.
Cook the noodles in the sauce just add stock to your meat, the noodles will be more flavorful!
Thats not a teaspoon
Teaspoon of salt 🤫😂
Who cares

Finally someone that’s not insane and doesn’t put beans in it
This is the kid's version.

Sure, it could be worse. Kind of like a light cigarette.
Was way to much salt 😢 I added sugar to calm the salty taste down so I didn't ruin it .. but other then that it's great ty

Not healthy? That beats the heck out of any fast food hamburger joint for healthy

It’s basically obesity and heart disease on a plate 😂😂😂
