- Today I am going to show you a one pot creamy beefy mac and cheese. This recipe is inspired by Hamburger Helper, which is a budget-friendly meal I grew up with.

INGREDIENTS
1 lb lean ground beef
2 tsp beef bouillon
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
12 oz large elbow macaroni
3 cups water
8 oz mild cheddar cheese
4 oz Velvetta cheese
1 cup half and half
salt and pepper to taste

Mmm agua frescas are the best. I grew up 40 min away from the border ... going over in the weekends was so much fun! Fruit cups, aguas frescas, cheap food and candy! The best.

I haven't had hamburger helper or any kind of cheeseburger mac in like 15 years. I remember it fondly though. Since cheese can be pretty pricey, one thing I learned from a coworker when making homemade mac and cheese, is to use soup! If you can find cheddar cheese soup or cream of cheddar soup, that's a cheap alternative that will thicken things up while adding the cheese flavour. I've also used cream of mushroom soup, that also works. So you can use a lot less cheese and save some money! I'd definitely be down to make some hamburger mac sometime soon!

I just finished making the cheeseburger Mac. It was incredibly easy, came together in less than a half hour, and turned out super tasty. I will say that I needed to stir the pasta pretty much constantly as it cooked or else it would've stuck to the pan. I was using a ceramic lined dutch oven and all the starch from the pasta really made it want to stick. With constant stirring though, nothing stuck. All in all, an excellent, quick, yummy recipe. Two thumbs up!

I love your recipes, but I always switch to fresh ingredients. For example, I buy several blocks of cheese. I grate it, portion it, and freeze it. It melts better, tastes better, and doesn't have the fillers and preservatives that come in pre-shredded cheese. Also cheaper to buy block cheese. Either way, I get many good ways from your recipes to make it my own. I love your food ideas!

I saw someone else cook this on another video. That got me to thinking about you send that jar cheese dip for the cheese. I bet that would be delicious.
Little tip to make the dish even better and reduce cooking steps is to poor in the water or broth and cook the noodles in the broth and their natural starches in the noodles will help
Thicken and emulsify the mixture making a more homogenous mixture

Add 1/4 cup of fresh blended tomatoes or 1/4 can of tomato sauce. That brings it over the top.
