There is literally an episode in Velma where the moral of the story is that Velma should just learn to punch people because she isn't pretty enough to sway them with her looks. It's ridiculous how terrible the writing was for this show, and how it dragged a team of brilliant artists down hill.
I'm quoting this from someone "No one's cheering for the animators to lose their jobs - if anything, we're focusing on the execs who greenlit this mess of a show, all the while they were cancelling other animated projects that would've been a LOT more receptive to audiences I agree people losing their job sucks, that's a given - But just because someone cheers for a show's demise, that doesn't mean we're insulting the animators - Hell, most of the complaints were levied at the writing of the show, not the animation." I hate this show with a passion because of how much it insults me and anyone that enjoys animation and scooby doo but I can see good animation and I wish the animator was treated with respect and hardwork they put out for this garbage of a show. I'm glad that it's over and I wish for the animator were giving something better than this
This question is so easily explained, because something that is an example of 90 percent of whats wrong with the industry getting affected by the other 10%(cancellation) is pretty damn nice
Hot take: I personally never watched. But was saving on money for other things, and the mass hate mob just feels like honest backlash that we can't keep claiming as evil. It's just critique, and the creatives at the top of the totem pole could have actually shifted course instead of sticking to their guns at the expense of themselves and the animators that worked on the show.
Every episode was ordered at once so WB could get out of paying the crew fairly. That is why the "second season" was announced before the first season even aired. The show getting canceled doesn't put anyone out of a job because that already happened years ago.
I watched the show, and im not gonna lie. The animations nor voice acting was bad, but the writing itself its the worst part and easily brings the show from a 10 to a 6. You can have a bad show have good animations and actors and still be absolute shit. I dont mind for jokes about real world events, but when its shoved down my throat it gets boring horribly quickly. Everyone got shoved into stereotypes, and dont get me wrong, nothing is wrong with a little character arc, but at the end it felt like LITERALLY NOTHING was achieved by any characters. Fred was still a fucking brat, Velma was still a bitch, Shaggy was still the chill asf comic relief guy, and daphne just became a lesbian for fucking who knows why, its fine to have a charcters ethnicity or gendwr preference changed but when there is an ENTIRE EPISODE based around a singular motherfucker learning a lesson and the next episode theyve LEARNT NOTHING, it gets awkward and bad real quickly.
It’s truly crazy how many different iterations of Scooby Doo we have had both official and unofficial. I don’t see the franchise ever really dying, it’s kinda like sonic in that way. Who knows it might only be a matter of time before every character gets their own spotlight spin off, just hopefully in more interesting ways… but in all honesty, it never had to be this complicated. Just give me OG Scooby Doo and call it a day, Or better yet the zombie Island era.
thats a good point about 'freeing up resources'... like thats not how anything works. It speaks to how people have an entirely false impression of industries and how precarious art and labor within because of mitigating circumstances.
hey! youre gonna go far! your channel is 100% indistinguishable from million sub commentary channels.... if not better!!! I cant wait to see you succeed :) subbed!
Speaking as someone that watched a few episodes I think a chunk of the issue is them being in high school and just the characters independently of who they’re based on. Fred was just “funny white privilege with barely any nuance, Daphne was just flat. Velma was an asshole who was almost always rewarded for being a jerk and shaggy was just meh. If it was more earnest I think it’d go over better, like a riverdale esq thing.
I have no opinion on the show as I never saw it. Reminds me too much of how people complained about the writing in the new Proud Family episodes on disney.
Having seen the og proud family and some new episodes I gotta say some of these modern ones suck ass. Mostly due to just how preachy the writing comes off as compared to the more low-key writing the other one had. There was even an episode that revolves around Zoey’s friends disliking her just cuz some dude had a preference for white girls and for some reason SHE’S meant to be the bad guy, I think even apologizing for rightfully calling them out on it. The most common complaint about the show is how they really villainize Zoey in some episodes for no reason.
What do you think of Velma and it getting canceled?
In my opinion I think shows getting canceled is bad
Meritocracy wins again.
I think its a good thing. When shows are bad, they do poorly, which gives the message that we want better quality.
THANK GOD

A scooby doo show without the main dog is just wrong

0:23 that's the error sound on my computer, kinda confuses me when you use it
interesting video. Though Im kind of interested in how reactionary discourse online can warp reality around media.

The show would’ve likely gotten another season if it was on a different streaming site.🐱
New reader!!!
Hello!

@@athf4ever780 I agree. The old show had to stick to a clear moral code, but the new seasons are all about "the message."
2:43 literally gave me whiplash because that is EXACTLY what i was doing lmfaooo
