Nicely done Scott, the North window will be full!
Helped a lot when planting my seeds
Glad to hear it!
Just got this kit, never grown anything like this but planeted 4 of each seed per pot, four days into the propagation phase before they go into the fridge so crossing my fingers some of the germinate! Look forward to watching the other episodes but started at the start so hoping you had success!!
Best of luck hope you get esomething!!
Hey Scott. That's some nice organized work and a really nice variety of seeds. You even got some scissors with the kit. Sounds like the cats were putting on there own show in the background.
I appreciate how organized you are. I have to get better with labeling my seeds with name and date. I always assume ill remember....and never do. 😳😳😄
@@LetsDoBonsai 😜😅😂
You're going to have to by an extra garden and a big greenhouse just for the trees, if these seeds from all the kits germinate :D I hope you succeed with at least half of them.
Cheers!
@@LetsDoBonsai ooh.. That would be cool! Diy plant room. All the shelves and lamps and heaters etc will keep you busy for at least over winter 😊
Another great kit and a fancy one at that 😊 fingers crossed and looking forward to the updates. PS. Hope that "cat crash" turned out okay 👍💖
It says in booklet to put holes in bags to let air in myouve not done that, also in book says keep a little of earth back when planted n then cover with the soil n you didn’t do that,,n then place in dry cool place 14-21 days, n then put bags in fridge after 14 days, please read the booklet,
I have a kit also but scared to do it incase i mess up the seeding proccess keep me updated on how they go
Go for it Jamie - im sure you will do just fine and this kit is a fair one to have 5 different types of tree to be grown from seed all but the maples sprouted for me so im sure you will do just fine!!
I have the same 1 as your but looks so difficult
@@jamiefairlie4837 I thought the same when i did my first kit - browse the video have a look at the instructions and just step through the process step by step and youll smash it - im here if you need anything.
Gracias!!!
Bienvenido
Looks a nice kit 👍. Do any of these kits give the % germination figures for the seeds? You'll be having to add an extra room onto the house to accommodate all these pots 😂😂. Where did you purchase the small brass churn that was on the table?
Ok re seeds. Many thanks for the info about the churn 👍
I wanted to grow some of these but when planting the seeds I'm not sure what to do. Do you put multiple seeds in one spot or distance them? And if more than one sprouts a sapling do you remove ones you don't want so you get one tree? Not sure if these are ridiculous questions or not!
Thank you so much for this video, I've just put my seeds in water. Where's the best place to propagate? I was going to keep in a shaded area of my bedroom
Cool man thanks 🙏
have they grown?
Hey Scott could you please give me an update on this starter kit and the bonsai plants? Last I heard was that they were struggling to grow
Scott Winnard thankyou quick question mate just from value alone would you recommend this starter kit or the grow it starter kit? Thankyou
Hello after the cold stratification step. Do I take it out the bag or keep it in the bag and put it in a hot area. Also how much water show I give each plant pot
After stratification keep in the bag and place in a warm bright area and hopefully you will get germingation, keep the soil moist but not wet, top of the bag can be open for air circulation.
@@ScottWinnardLetsdoBonsai you see germination. Is that when the green leaves come out and everything. Cos that’s already happened. It happened two steps ago
@@dwoodproducts5839 - yes germination is the beginning of growth - well done your well on your way!!
Hi there, I got my first bonsai kit and I started soaking the seeds. I noticed you are planting more seeds per pot. Is it possible to split them once they grow? I prepared only 1 or 2 per type, not to overload the pot. Thank you for your help
you can put as many seeds in a pot as you like, the only issue would be seprating them wihtout disturbing the roots too much when they grow, so less is more and you are right to put only a few into each pot. As long as they germinate you will be good.
Hello Scott, I've got the same kit and I was wondering if you knew if you needed to water these during the propagation period while bagged up?
@@LetsDoBonsai I will do, thanks for the advice.
Do you possibly have a video on the next stage of these?
Hi there - yes there is a full series on most kits
Hey Scott, I have this kit and have some bonsai that have germinated and now in pots growing nicely. But some of the leaves are wilting whilst others are very healthy. Should I be trimming the wilting leaves. Also one of them is getting very tall and so am wondering whether I should trim it down. Any advice?
Scott Winnard they are all in separate pots and have been for about 6 weeks. Two are Judas trees and both grown to 20 Cm high and aside form a couple of leaves which are dry and wilted (green not yellow) they are both healthy. The other two are Chinese Wisteria (from bonus seed pack) they were healthy but again have wilted (mostly dry and dull green but some yellow). Am finding it hard to know how often to water them as there was no instructions on the pack about that - according to the instructions they now stay in these pots for nearly 2 years! Which seems mad, does that mean I cannot repot then at all. Sorry for all the questions, only I know you’ve done this yourself. happy to email with pics as an alternative.
How long do you keep the plants in the bags for
How much water do you put to soak them?
Soak them in a container - any amount of water that covers the seeds and allows them to soak some up. Take them for a swim lol
Hi Scott, I was just wondering if you know if it is normal in this initial stage for some of them to grow fur on top of the soil?
I’m new to growing... Do you put all of the seeds out of the packet into the water or just a few? Or a single one?
I would put as many as you like in, so you get some growth just in case the one seed you chose isnt viable then they can be transplanted and seperated if you get many. You can put them all in the water at once.
Podria haber un vídeo en idioma español?
Im sorry i dont speak Spanish - no puedo hacer un video en español lo siento
Do I water the bonsai when they are in the germination process?
Just make sure you keep the soild slightly damp.
Hi if my trees have started to grow in the first 2 weeks do I still put them in for cold stratification?
Hi Rory - if they have germinated without having to put them in the fridge then you can skip the fridge, part as it only to break the seeds dormancy and go through a simulated winter to allow germination.
can you put one seed per pot?
Yes you can put one seed in one pot absolutely
Hello Scott I’ve just bought this kit myself, looking forward to getting started. Would you recommend starting now or am I a little too late in the year?
Thanks for the videos ,really helpful. Dan
Thanks for the reply Scott. I’ll get them going straight away. Looking forward to your next update. How are they looking?
Hey, did you water them while they were in the fridge? And if so how much?
i didnt need to water any of mine while they were in the fridge, but i would of just spayed lightly to mnoisten the soil if required.
Kits are bollocks.
Haha - your pretty right there unfortuanetley some work some do not and theres no hard and fast rule to which will or wont work!
Hi mate do I still have to lightly water my seeds during the first two weeks before I start my cold stratification
You just need to keep the soil slightly moist (not wet) it shouldn’t fully dry out - sometimes just a spray of the surface is enough
@@LetsDoBonsai thanks!! Also love the vids, keep them going! Just one last question, whilst they are in the fridge during the stratification period will I still have to check if the soil is moist or do I just leave them in there?
@@angelohaxhia6165 - yeah just keep checking that the soil doesnt dry out.
