I had an extremely fun time editing this video. I loved editing in the shots from "Halo Landfall" to almost act as "flashbacks" from the veterans of the war in that first scene. I wanted to portray the theme of what Halo USED to be. What it used to feel like. I love Halo. I *loved* Halo. My girlfriend and I basically started dating because we could discuss Halo lore for hours on end. I read almost all the books, replayed the campaigns hundreds of times, and it's terrible to see such an amazing game be turned into a quick cash-grab similar to the direction of Call Of Duty. I don't ever edit like this. I probably won't edit like this again unless absolutely necessary. I never said a single word in the video and usually I talk *too much* in videos. I wanted to prove my feelings using other people's views to show that there is a very large amount of people ashamed with the current state of the franchise, even UA-camrs dedicated to the series, ex-gamedevs, etc. Hope you guys enjoy constructive criticism because this video was full of 343 Industries basically contradicting themselves with every step.
OperatorDrewski ugh if you read the books all of the stuff from 4 and 5 make sense yeah they aren't as gritty but it was a new studio so duh the style changed a bit Gah people get so upset about the changes but it makes a lot of sense
Those were fucking awesome I''d love a halo movie or something from the perspective of a marine or an ODST You never really see how fierce of an enemy the covenant is as the Master Chief, and I never knew how one sided the Human-Covenant war was until I read the lore. I mean Brutes are like 9 ft tall hulking beasts, and you can tell how strong they are just by the spiker in those ads. You can actually see how heavy it is by how he lifts it, and then says "they used it as a handgun" On top of being massively technologically superior, the covenant weapons and shielding and the fact that the Elites are agile and the Brutes are ferocious, and both of them being much larger than humans makes them truly terrifying enemies. And that's just two covenant races. And even though Grunts are kind of a joke irl theyd be tough enemies. They're extremely durable due having adapted to the harsh conditions of their homeworld and they're actually pretty close to human height sometimes.
Most would agree that Halo 3 by far had the best marketing campaign of any video game hell maybe any piece of media ever. It enveloped you, sure yeah the dramatic diorama and the music manipulated you but it made you want to be part of the story. Halo 3 to this day still gives people like you, me and other fans a distinct emotional response.
Smaugs Wrath halo 5 is the worst campaign, no disputing it. but I feel like comparing a middle title to a, then thought, series finale is a bit much. should have compared to halo 2 because it got the middle title treatment as well, but only in the ending.
DontHatemusiK You do know why they had to end it quickly right? Microsoft and the money hungry Bill Gates cut it to release in time for the holidays. There is a file in which it explains the full ending somewhere on wiki. Good luck.
Met my fiancee of 7 years in Halo 3. Made amazing friendships in both games, and Reach was incredible too, highest point of the series for me. Wouldn't have met any of these people if not for Halo 2 and the promise of Halo 3 in the works resulting in me getting an Xbox 360 as my choice of console last gen. Wouldn't change a thing, either. Here's to you, Halo.
I miss Halo 2 so much for the custom maps and the community. My first experience of online console gaming and pretty much the same for anyone else. Halo 3 was much better for competitive play and really well tuned. For me though Halo 2 will always hold a special place in my heart.
Comparing Halo 3 and Halo 5 was painful to watch. I had so many good years with Halo growing up, and it hurts to watch Halo 5 continue the downward slope of Halo.
it's frustrating to me that 343 won't just go back to what made halo such a classic. they are always trying to search for the next best thing and it's turning the franchise into something it isn't. The classic halo trilogy is my favourite video game trilogy, the game play, music, customization and multi-player made gamers like me become connected to the franchise. It breaks my heart to see one of my favorite franchises crumble right in front of my face. What happened to the split screen multi-player with your buddies to see who was the best player out of them all. What happened to the warthog chases and these epic fire fights, what happened to all the armory and weapons and forerunners? Halo you have broken my heart. My only wish is that halo 6 focuses on the old rather than the new. I hope 343 listens to the fans and creates a halo game that will be cherished in this generation.
I think one of the reasons they didn't do split screen was because of how terrible the XB1 is. They wanted to keep the game at 60 fps and I guess that meant sacrificing split screen. Luckily they realized that was a mistake and said that all their other games from here on out will have split screen.
Th3r3alfuzzball 95 I really do feel everyone blames the artstyle to much yes it’s important but I can play a halo game where Masterchief looks like he’s a fucking robot raccoon and as long as the gameplay and story was great the game would be great
honestly such a god damn shame. halo 1-3 hold a special place in my heart, because I loved them as a kid back then and love them just as much now. The multiplayer, the music, the story... it was so wonderful. Its depressing to see whats happened to the franchise...
as long as this company 343 industries is allowed to continue to make these "halo" games, then halo will remain dead. Just go play the master chief collection, the old games are still playable and almost just as fun as the old days.
It's not just the story telling that sucks but I feel like they ruined the classic halo gameplay. It just doesn't feel like halo, all of the sprinting and sliding and boosting and all that bullshit. Not to mention the armor and just how everything looks in the game doesn't look like halo either.
Angry Dub you realise Halo had a fucking HUGE competitive scene right? They made MLG what it is today. They had Dr pepper, Doritos, hot pockets, fuckin trident layers as sponsors. Halo from it's very roots has been made and recieved as a competitive game. Halo 5 sucked, but not because they tried to "make it competitive", which is what they were supposed to do.
I don't normally comment on videos; I'm usually a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" type of viewer. But this really hit home for me. I remember in 2007 when Halo 3 came out, bringing it home from Game Stop and barely being able to contain my excitement to continue the story with the Chief. My mind was blown by what I experienced going through that campaign; the story was unlike anything I had ever played before. From crashing down in the escape pod and getting greeted by the Arbiter, to escaping the flood infested Ark after losing Johnson. I think about it now as I type this, and I haven't felt this way since I first put that disc into my Xbox. Nobody can replace what Bungie did. The passion, commitment, and love that went into that franchise is beyond anything that any other large game developer has ever demonstrated--or will ever demonstrate--to its respective fan base. There is truly no game like it. Critique me if you will, but even with celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Halo 3 is incomparably better than the rest of this trash (including Halo 4 and 5) that has been pumped out by the gaming industry. There will never again be that exhilarating, adrenaline-filled feeling you'll get in your gut when you're roaring down the channels of the Ark in a Warthog with the Arbiter, trying to make it back to the Forward Unto Dawn. THAT is the Halo I will always remember.
Dylan Dees I'll admit, Reach does deserve some love; not just because it was Bungie's last Halo, but because it was actually a lot better than people give it credit for.
you cant forget that halo 3 had one of the best online multiplayer experiences of any game. the death matches were extremely well balanced with large numbers of bungie and user created maps. not to mention that you could set up an open custom game on a custom forge map (like tower v3), invite randoms in and have an absolutely insane time. those were the days...
The Batman For me, it was all about custom games; I can remember all those days of coming back from school and hopping on Halo 3 for some Infection. Playing "Fat Boy" and all those custom infection maps were probably one of the highlights of my gaming life. But I will also agree that the online was a million times better than anything COD could come up with.
This is the problem with video games now. Because of the industries growth it's not about quality, it's about revenue. And I'm not even going to talk about microtransactions and $50 season passes in $60 games.
Battlefield 4 is definitely the biggest example of this. $60 game + $50 premium "pay to win" bullshit all before launch, and then the game came and every aspect of it was broken and the netcode made it unplayable. Buuuuuuuut it's the second best selling Battlefield title, so it must have been good...
(Last Mission of Halo 5) *Mouth half open, dead unblinking staring eyes, feeling dead inside* (Last Mission of Halo 3) *WOOOO! Fists up in the air cheering for Chief, struggling to be contained, overjoyed with how fun and engaging the game is, go Master Chief!!!* Repeat x2 And 343 wonders why people hate these fucking games, it's like they were made by robots or a computer, you could tell the guys behind Bungie's Halo were fun and goofy guys who loved to make awesome games, and it really shined through in their work, now Halo is just a soulless reanimated husk made by people who don't care and don't get it, but the M$ whip cracks, so the work must be done, just no passion anymore, no energy in this franchise.
Few fistpumps for The Arbiter too, just cause you'd gained a massive respect for him by the end of 3 (just as he and Chief did for each other). "Were it so easy..."
I just want you to know that I have played Halo 4 and Halo 5 to their entireties yet for the life of me I cant remember playing them or even have the fondest memory of what happened in the games. I know in halo 4 we were introduced to the robot people who created the rings etc. I remember flying a pelican and blowing shit up, thats about it from halo 4. Halo 5 I remember Cortana going ape shit and now shes ready to destroy the universe. BUT IN HALO 1 2 3 AND REACH I VIVIDLY REMEMBER EVERY SINGLE MISSION EVERY PLOT POINT EVERY SONG EVERY CHARACTER! I legit want to cry because now I realize that its all true, 343 have killed Halo.
Casey It's singularity era ppl. we have huge risks. companies as politics since 9 11 are managed by finance. most ppl do not have minimal understanding of this. hordes of new poor can access gaming and stuff today blns of ppl can and already do have devices. they are tools/ batteries to be controlled... anyway. songularity brings costs of risk for companies. to survive they work on commercial stuff to gather money. it s time to undeestand how the system works.. and it takes a lot of time and study to get it. do you know where money goes mainly? war... but this is totally an other story.
Now that you mention it, I still remember that sniper with the Aussie accent in H2. I did everything I could to keep him alive through the level just to hear his bantz.
343 didn't kill Halo. As far as gameplay goes, it's the best and most balanced. The story is completely subjective. If you think about it, the story in Halo games have never actually been all that great. Don't get me wrong, I love Halo. But the story isn't really something to write home about. I'm assuming you were younger when you played the originals, so now you're blinded by nostalgia - most people are. If nothing else, Halo 5 has the best multiplayer of all the games simply because of options and balance.
evilphoenix 007 no need to be like that. The nostalgia card is legitimate and true. You failed to read that I love 1-3. For a shooter, yes the campaigns were fantastic and are all 3 better campaigns than 5 (or any other Halo games). IMO shooters have worse campaigns than most other types of games, so that's what I mean when they weren't actually that great because for me there are plenty of other story based games that are better. You'd be ignorant not to realize that Halo's multiplayer is more important and when it comes to that, Halo 5 is better. Sorry to trigger you.
I don't even play Halo yet this video made me feel the pain all the fans must be experiencing anyway... It's irritating how less heart is put into games these days, and how it's more about how they can lure us in with flashy graphics and then rip us off with an incomplete experience, only so that they can try to grab all the money they can from micro transactions. It's genuinely sad to see the gaming industry taking this direction
@@HolyknightVader999 lmao star trek fans to, transformer fans, and Terminator fans. Anything thats popular gets shitted on soon. Thank goodness that Warhammer won't be touched on by agendas so easily.
@@jackness9431 Except it was. Go look up the deal between Games Workshop and Marvel comics. They're going to have SJW Marvel do 40K comics, and Games Workshop is now pushing Warhammer Adventures to children.
@@HolyknightVader999 The Warhammer community already disowned those non canon children books. And the author of those books already started getting toxic. Idk about the comic thing though(Comics aren't even in a good place right now due to covid). At least forgotten realms isn't touched by the agenda, Baldurs gate, etc. Black library is still producing decent amount books.
As someone who's first xbox game ever was Halo 3, and that the only reason I keep my 360 around is for the sole reason to play Halo 3, it's such a let down and disappointment. One of the greatest games of all time, and all of the memories I have of playing with friends, this just blows to watch and see what it has come to.
343 is killing the single best thing from my childhood. I grew up on this. it molded me into the gamer i am today. And They're neutering it. Grabbing it by the balls and shaving them off with rusty scissors.
Its hilarious that a supersoldier who can literally sprint as fast as a car while wearing a 1 ton armor, and a guy with an armor designed to keep up with that, move slower than average people.
OperatorDrewski I'm kind of curious. What are your thoughts on halo wars 2? As someone who is a massive fan of the originals (and not so much a fan of 343's halo) I felt like it was a bit of a breath of fresh air. The game could have been significantly better, but the campaign wasn't horrible (just a bad ending) and the gameplay is almost identical to that of the first Halo Wars and because of that, I was satisfied.
The video is about Halo 5, and it was clearly not in "the right direction". Also if you're talking about Halo 6, we don't know anything about it, just the fact that splitscreen is coming back.
I think the main problem is that 343 takes the series too seriously. You play their games and they're so devoid of humour and a sense of adventure. Where as Bungies ones were serious but at times (and the right time) they didnt take themselves too serious. They had funny wise cracking characters and silly voice acting and a sense of adventure, like you were on a ride to something big in every game up until Reach. Even the first Halo Wars game felt more Halo than 343's and that was made by a an RTS developer. They managed to nail the aesthetics of Halo where as a AAA stupid cant. The above is the heart of the series and why people liked it in the first place. 343 needs to find that. Frankly their versions are not as fun to play due the these reasons.
and the awesome marines with their furute belivable amor and their awesome voice acting details are awesome i all ways wanted to save all the marines i could and if i couldnt i would reestart the game haha...... but halo 4,5 marines.... and their NERF armor........ wtf
MrRookie Oh yeah! I had my fill of trying to save ALL the marines. I still recall the times I would play the Second mission on Campaign of Halo 3 in the Hangar bay with the Brutes having the marines hostage. I tried saving them all. If one single marine was killed, there's only one option: Restart. No single Marine A.I. shall be left behind. Same with the level Floodgate, and Covenant with the Elites. And in Halo 2, if you managed to do Quarantine Zone, the elites will sometimes follow you and I had to struggle to keep both alive and hopefully make it to the end with the two elites (sometimes four) alive, struggling against the hordes of flood, sentinels, and enforcers.
Ninja Mice saving the marines and having them play through the levels with you was awesome! How about when you got the troop transport warthog and could drive 4 of them WITH ROCKET LAUNCHERS to blow up the anti air wraiths, good times.
I gave up on Halo after halo 4, i got halo 5 with my Xbox one but immediately traded it in against fallout 4 instead. once the human vs covenant war was over the games stopped being interesting.
Did you like Halo 4? I thought it was alright but honestly, wasn't a fan of the forerunners as the main enemy. (I haven't played that game since it came out so I don't remember everything)
I actually really enjoyed Halo 4! RIGHT up until Chief meets the Librarian and they pull the "You are the Chosen one" crap. Halo's story was all about how Humanity was a young, scrappy race beating the odds, and then suddenly Halo 4 pulls the rug out from under you and says: "No. None of those sacrifices matter. You won because you were supposed to. Now go kill the bad guy that we won't bother giving any real backstory on, just trust us... He's a bad guy." Then they really jumped the shark with Cortana protecting the chief from a nuclear blast. I know she's powerful, but an AI is an AI. I honestly never even considered buying Halo 5 because I was so disappointed in 4. Supposedly the multiplayer is pretty good now, harking back to Halo 3 in a way, but I just can't put myself through the emotional trauma of suffering through more Spartan IVs and Forerunner bullshit. I liked the game better when the Forerunners just stayed dead, and you actually knew what you were fighting and what the hell you were fighting for.
i've been an avid halo fan, easily clocking 4000 hours in halo reach only and i dont even know how many in the previous games. as soon as 343 took over the series... it was over, it became call of duty with a halo skin on it...
Halo 5 mp was definitely an improvement on 4 but the obvious main let down of it was the whole single player experience, what I think a lot of people play Halo for in the first place, in contrast to a series like CoD
You 2 know your shit. Might I add... Reach is my fav halo game. It's the only good halo game that runs well enough online still. Halo CE, 2, and 3 are fucked on the MCC and halo 3 on the 360 has some server issues that didn't exist back in the day. Sigh... I'm afraid Reach's online days are numbered too. I can already feel Reach online feeling laggier.
Dude, if u were to hop on xbox live right now, there would be a substantial amount of people playing halo reach, it just depends which gamemode, LOTS of people play team slayer, big team battle, infection, and some other stuff, but the community for halo reach is actually more lively than halo 4's funnily enough.
Seth Whitty halo 4s story was pretty good for a comeback of the series but 5 had that shitty writer... Brian reed, thank god they got rid of him today!
Playing through CE 2 then finally getting to 3s campaign I swear everything was just perfect for the campaign for 3. 3 was a good game all around 4 eh 5 is just well let's just say 6 better be just as good as one of the original trilogy or 343 isn't gonna make more games after unless they go to something else
Seth Whitty the forerunner shit is what really breaks the immersion in the story for me only cause for so long they were portrayed as this perfect race that was brought down by the flood but now they're just shitty enemies
Remember when 343 first took over? And we were told Halo was going to be in the hands of Halo fans? These douches clearly aren’t fans, as any lover of Halo wouldn’t remove split screen and add micro transactions. I’d say they’ve been a disappointment from the get go.
Halo really has lost it's way. 343 acts like their game is the best out there the major difference is that the old Bungie team didn't act like their game was the best. They made Halo FOR the fans not for corporate greed or to fill a quota. If you watch the old Halo 2 & 3 documentaries then watch the Halo 4 & 5 documentaries you'll see a huge difference between them.
Halo also died when 343 decided that what was necessary was a bunch of progression and customisable loadouts to shove down everyone's throat. Halo 4 already ruined the multiplayer by removing the "We have all the same weapons and abilities at the start of the match, and the only difference between us is our skill." Halo was the last series that followed the arena shooter tradition of weapons being acquired exclusively on the battlefield. Halo 3 SWAT always felt like the absolute essence of comptetive shooter gameplay. Now Halo multiplayer is basically just CoD with spartans.
There are no loadout's or weapon progression in halo 5 unless you count forge where you can change starting weapons. Halo 5 arena mode (PvP) has all weapons located on the battlefield. Warzone mode (a mix of PvP and Player vs AI) has a kind of weapon progression via burn cards that you unlock.
GTA 5 and BF4 yeah, just by changing the sound design and art design alone showed their horrible disrespect to the franchise they were given to take care of and help continue to grow, instead of adding to something great, they stripped it of its face and voice and changed it into an abomination that shambles around attempting to call itself what it once was under its creators that loved and cared for it.
they are a new studio, besides bungies games weren't amazing, they each had flaws e.g h3s story everything about reach (firefight and covenent were well done though, minus the brutes design) hce was ridiculously simple, odst was short, 2 was a bit of a mess in terms of campaign. point is, bungie weren't perfect,
This whole second trilogy was a cash grab I called it as soon as halo 4 was announced. That's why bungie stopped doing halo. This should've died with halo 3, I remember reading all the books and playing halo non stop, but now it's just shit.
I mean Bungie Set up for 4 with the end of 3. We had to get Chief home, Halo 4 delivered that and only had the writing on the case as a reason to have a "forerunner saga"
listen 343 are hearing us they brought back the classic art style in halo wars 2 and black under suits are coming back split screen is going to be in every fps halo from now on and local multiplayer is coming back
oligreendot That means no more halo though. They might learn u know. Just maybe... They clearly overreacted after mistakes in halo 4. Maybe third time's a charm.
Master Chief Are you sure about that? Where's your sources because I'm pretty sure reqs will come back. Did they buy you Chief? Did they promise to make Cortana good again?
This is a great video. It seriously made me get very emotional, Halo was my life as a kid, I played the original three with my dad practically every day after I got home from school, I then saved up for a silver (yeah I know remember silver live?) xbox live card, and jumped into the Halo online world, I remember the feeling of instant excitement when the teaser trailer for Halo 4 came out, waiting a year just to be let down, I'll never forget that, Halo wasn't the same. Again this is a fantastic video, thank you.
Tim T me 2 now i am 12 i played halo since i was 4 with my father i remember my father was getting depressed of my warthog drive skills in halo one 2 i wanted it and finally i could play it 3 has best multiplayer 4 is not that bad but it was so different halo 5 is for cod kids
Eric Lee You see how much shit EA got for micro transaction for battlefront? Halo hardly got major scrutiny, halo was never about pay to win shit. When I pay money for a game, I don't expect nor want it to be a pay to win. That's retarded, bungee didn't do that. Bungee made amazing halo games. When you introduce pay to win the game almost instantly will suck. Name one good game that you have to buy and is a pay to win that is good. Nothing exactly.
I'm always fascinated and impressed when I see halo 3's marketing, it was phenomenal and it really brought the universe to life I always get an adrenaline rush from halo 3's final mission with the exciting score and amazing scenery And ngl almost brought a tear to my eye when the halo 3 menu came up with its beautiful music and then immediately got pissed off when i saw halo 5's. Halo 3 will always be my all time favorite game. never forget...
I agree with you though for me Bungie's swan song Halo Reach is my all time favorite game. Sure halo 3 had a better story in it's campaign but for me multiplayer was the best I've ever played. I was so good at it back in the day, crazy literally carry my team good. I would average 70-75 kills on big team and 20-30 on slayer so half or more of my teams kills single-handedly. I once got a invincible in big team snipers with every shot been a quick scope, only reason I didn't get higher was I clipped a guy's head rather then kill him. Got him with the follow up but he got me too. Nothing like been a king in his element. Trash talking, boasting, a inbox full or random friends request's and clan invites (never much one for clan's or clan game-play though lone wolf all the way). Those where the day's.
Which is why I still play it, to keep the good games going it has around 12k players on average and i love making maps and hosting game nights like the old days!
343-so we will now be makiiiiiiiing....what now Bungie-halo 343-haaaalo? Bungie-yes halo 343-alright time to make call of duty Bungie-no halo! 343-battlefield? Bungie-ok im done...
Kodi Hesketh Moreover, the whole genre change really rattled me. I came for nitty gritty WAR, not some god damn space drama. HW 2 gives me a little hope though. A little
Jackal exactly right, they would probably never take halo back but bungie halo games are so far above 343 halo games it's not even funny. We can dream.
This is why I gave up Halo and the xbox and went to PlayStation. Its just...not the same. Halos 4 & 5 feel like poorly written fan fiction. The fact that Cortana is evil now was right the hell out of nowhere and honestly didn't add much. The finale from the campaign mode was a complete joke. Halo, like it or hate it, has always had fantastic fist pumping finales. From Combat Evolved to Reach, the finales were always great; they either left the players with hope or sadness or a mix of the two with amazing visuals, amazing music that suited every single second and great pacing. The finale for 5, was a complete punch to the balls. 343 Industries is a company made out of fans who have no idea what the hell made this franchise a juggernaut and why it was so amazing. They should have left this franchise alone after three where the Chief ended where he began, going into a cryo tube, waiting for the time for when he is needed again.
SavageNightmare 1216 Easy, Halo 3 was left on a book end open ending. it's kinda like Aliens; yes there is a Alien 3 but, Aliens tied up so many ends but kept the ending ambiguous. What happens to Ripley and crew? we can make our own guesses, it's the same with Halo 3, it left on such a ambiguous and powerful note. it was good enough and no need to move on, it was left to let the fans make their conclusion to what happens to Cortana and Chief. Sometimes those are the best kind of endings instead of it slogging on and becoming a husk of what it used to be.

Wonder Dino I switched to play station sadly, all my friends bought play stations and I thought halo 5 or all my literally all my friends. After seeing gameplay I bought the play station. Halo wars 2 looks great though. I didn't think halo 4 was bad just a little curve in the story and when I saw chief wake up in the beginning I was feeling shivers and excitement. Halo 5 completely got rid of Chiefs badassness. He doesn't seem very awesome in it and doesn't have the same feel
Actually the idea of Cortana being evil goes way back in 2001 with CE. The idea was that Cortana would go insane after going to the control room and chief would fight her. They just decided to use since they have little to know idea what to do.
Halo CE : The Beginning of the Great Journey Halo 2 : Improvements, best Storyline IMO Halo 3 : The Golden age of Halo Halo Reach : The Beginning of the End Times Halo Wars : Refreshing, pretty solid. Halo 4 : The Jump from the cliff Halo 5 : Fall Damage
Me and my wife played every halo co-op campaign together. Playing 1-2 missions a night after we got home from work was a fun way to bond and fight the covenant/explore missions. Then they just decided to get rid of split screen to "enhance the competitive aspect of the game" Halo without split screen... What a fucking joke. I guess 343 just wanted Halo to be call of duty black ops 2, and forgot who it was. Great video. RIP Halo: 2000-2011
i stopped playing at halo 4 (bought the game, hated it) because i hated the art style (everything too over saturated and cartoonish, reach is my gold standard in art style), and gameplay (which was mostly to do with multiplayer map design), so i jumped ship and became a pc player before any of this shit, thank god
I agree with you but I also couldn't stand the campaign. The story was bad and incompatible with Bungee's lore, they clearly didn't understand Master Chief as a character and the game-play was both easy and poor.
Nonsensical Sanic No I'm saying you didn't understand it. The entire premise for Halo 4 was based on Genetic determinism (which has been disproved basically all physiologists these day acknowledge that behaviour is a interplay between nature and nurture). This is stupid, and don't get me started on the lack of a sense of wonder or mystery in the games plot. Moreover they portrayed Masterchief as having a different chararter and personality than he did in the Bungies game (some thing I cannot over look).
The editing you did in the beginning of the video that had the Landfall video mixed in with the Older Soldiers talking about their experience in the war was straight up Masterful.
Halo lost the war between Bungie and Microsoft. They killed the franchise that made xbox competitive with sonys playstation because Bungie wanted different things! Bungie has really been fucked over and I will always be a dedicated bungie fan. From Halo CE to Destiny. But 343 fucked the halo franchise in the ass. Raped it and devolved into a shell of its former self. They should have given the franchise to Bungie and let the game go. Instead of took it, severed ties with Bungie and fucked everyone.
dr. dinky are you sure you wanna do that? Have you played destiny? Have you experienced that campaign? I say get the original devs together and have them make 1 final go at the game and wrap everything up. The franchise has been tainted enough. It's time to lay it to rest.
Bungie had a 10 year contract with Microsoft when they were purchased. Giving Halo back to Bungie is a horrible idea with how horrible Destiny is. And the fact that the majority of the original Halo designers have moved on to other companies and projects. Just be grateful it's still around.
The switching between the new and the old, every time it would switch to the old I would get chills and swells of emotion and memories. Especially on the Halo 3 home screen.
Halo quit being Halo when its extended lore was implemented to it’s games. It really should have just ended at 3. The Forerunners were a mysterious race who built weapons of mass destruction to destroy outbreaks of the Flood.
Coming from someone who's first Gen 7 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii era) game was Halo 3 (before then the most advanced console I owned was a Gamecube), whom devoured every second of Reach like it was my last taste of a true Halo game, and whom actually enjoyed Halo 4 for it's story; Halo needs to die. Within the course of one game, everything the series stood for was utterly and shamefully destroyed. Little can be done to save it. In order to pull Halo out from where it is, Halo 6 would have to not only be one of the best Halo games of all time; but one of the best games of all time, period. Something that, frankly, just wont happen. Not with the direction 343 and Microsoft has taken it. We can hope and pray and cross our fingers, but it wont change things. Halo should just be let go queitly, peacefully.
Steven Uribe if Halo 6 is another halo 4 or 5 caliber game...it will indeed be dead. Time to see if 343 is willing to make Halo games or continue making their own Halo inspired FPS titles. I have little doubt they will finish the franchise with another mediocre production with 6. I have never seen them do anything better than mediocre regarding complete products. They'd be better off making Halo 3 anniversary with a full remastered multiplayer than to ship Halo 6 as another generic, "fast" "modern" "competitive [which h5 is not...at all...compared to ce-3]) FPS game. Either make the first true halo game since H3 or just remaster the last great title in the franchise and let us all move on.
SparrowEmpire actually if they make it what 5 was supposed to be then it will be successful. 5s story was gonna be great but Microsoft ruined it. The multiplayer was amazing. Now with the ending for halo wars 2 tying into halo 5/ legendary ending, they are basically saying that halo 6s story is gonna be rape all of our senses and emotions(basically what I'm trying to say is they're saying it's gonna be the best story yet or close to it). If they do something similar to 5s multiplayer they are basically making what halo should be. Either the same as the originals or better.
Komodo I agree, when I played the halo wars two ending I realised that, hopefully they will pull it off, there's potential for halo 6 but if they mess it up I'm pretty sure Halo will be dead for good. Which I hate saying. Halo CE was my first shooter and is what got me into gaming as a kid
SparrowEmpire 343 Industries just fired Brian Reed today. The Narrative Director position is now up for application and 343i is now seeking a new Narrative Director.
Andrew E No, that's completely untrue. Halo was originally going to be a Macintosh game, but Microsoft bought it mid-development and it became an Xbox game. Fast-forward to 2007, when Bungie splits from Microsoft but allows them to keep the rights to the Halo franchise. Three years later, they release Reach, which is factually the last Bungie-made Halo game and arguably the last true Halo game to ever be released.
ZeroWolf51 YOU are wrong. Below, I linked a picture to the back of a halo 3 case. Those big letters say "The stunning conclusion to the halo trilogy." www.google.com/search?q=halo+3+case&client=ms-android-verizon&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwji8qqR39fSAhUL4WMKHVcrCNUQ_AUICCgC&biw=360&bih=512#imgrc=ZgqrDOLflbi7YM:
How was he wrong? Very simple. I said the back of a Halo 3 case will say "End of a Trilogy". He said "that's completely untrue." I told him he was wrong. I never said it WAS the end of Halo. I stated what the box said, and he denied it.
The problem is that the community, those who still play the game, don’t hear the opinions of those who left the game and do not want to. 343 apologists and diehard Halo fans don’t know what the franchise actually needs because they blindly accept the less than stellar sequels to the franchise they love.
HW2 isn't true to the first halo wars in a lot of game play mannerisms (no emphasis on a single resource simple economy, no viable strategies based on Hero units, lot less difference between the play style of the two factions). If you were talking about HW2 being true to the overall old halo style like the ambiance and themes and sorta epic journey type stuff of the original halo trilogy I'd still be a bit confused. *SPOILER WARNING* There's little to no story in HW2 besides "take out this target move on. rescue this spartan what next." HW2 actually had a decent amount of character development and the plot had a lot more tension and character development seeing as it had cut scenes that focused on this rather than just the introduction and action. For example Axtriox only appears twice in cut scenes and the first time its just Isabel saying "hes scary because he defied the covenant and lived" while the second time is just Atriox saying "you can't do this to me! I defied the covenant!"
Great video that pulls together a lot of things I've said about the state of the Halo universe since 343 took over, espeically since the release of Halo 5. The editing in of the Halo 3 vs. Halo 5 menus really got me too!
I am very surprised that people defend 343i and Halo 5 by saying it has the best gameplay and multiplayer from all the Halo games and being a responsable man I share with them this video so they can wake up and make them see that they seriously need some high magnification glasses great work Drewski.
This was a powerful video. As a long time Halo fan, I felt everything from nostalgia, to frustration, to heartbreak. Incredible video sir. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber :)
Personally, my faves are Halo CE to 3. However, Halo CE's Main Meny is by far my favorite. I can just listen to the music and stare at the Halo Ring for hours. Not to say that Halo 2 and 3's arent awesome as well, but its my fave since it was the FIRST Halo game I played in PC back at 2012. Good times, good times.
My first halo game was reach, and it really was amazing. The campaign, multiplayer, and customization really made great. When halo 4 came out, I wasn't impressed. The whole game lost its feel without bungie. I never got the satisfaction I got in reach after finishing the campaign. This is the reason I never got halo 5, because I didn't want to go through that bad experience again. I hope Microsoft sees the mistake their making and fixes it. Like if you agree.
To me, Halo's canonical story should've ended after chief died in 3, like how Star Wars should have ended after Vader died in episode 6. But at least Disney had the sense enough to make Episode 7 good, instead of just ruining favorite characters like Chief and Buck. The biggest offense though is the treatment of music, current halo's music is forgettable and not at all enjoyable to listen to. Halo 3: ODST on the other hand has some of the best music you can find in games. It's just disappointing to see an amazing franchise fall so far from its original style.
343 Happened guys. we can't blame it all on them. their asses are just getting whipped by Microsoft and the industry to generate revenue. years ago you paid for the full game and dlc were additional add ons months later. now you pay for a beta and wait for the team to complete the game and sell it to you by parts.
tutu07777 Actually, 343 was created by Microsoft to be a studio dedicated to continuing the franchise. Apparently, the word "continuing" is synonymous with "ruining" in Microsoft's vocabulary.
I love how they increased the game speed to fast pace in halo 5 backing it up stating that's how spartans actually move in lore, and then proceed to have the two main characters fight slow af.
You're implying 343 can take notes, which implies they can write things down. After seeing the story for Halo 5's campaign, I'm pretty sure they can't write for shit. :D
The lead writer can't write for shit. Brian Reed cannot write to himself out of a paper bag. Might be why he was sacked from writing comics for Marvel.
Someone in the comments said Halo's immersion in the storyline was ruined by the return of the Forerunners. I have to agree. For years we believed the Forerunners to be a god-tier race of aliens that built Halo, the Ark, and the Shield Worlds against the Flood. The introduction to the Didact in Halo 4 was actually very well done. The fact that the Didact simply rag-dolled the Chief in the game is accurate. The Reclaimers have not yet attained the Mantle. However, the Prometheans were terrible enemies gameplay and design wise. They could have been done so much better. The Promethean Soldiers in Halo 5 were basically tinker toys, and the Warden Eternal was completely ridiculous and could've been designed better. If anything, Halo 5 should not have reintroduced Cortana, but rather reintroduce the Didact.
Ugh when you showed the side by sides of the final mission and menus, a shiver went down my spine and I teared up a little bit. These things hit close to home when they are literally some of the best memories of your childhood, completely taken away.
Aldozzy, no it's a pretty abysmal game. If it wasn't called Halo it would be one of those shitty games that no one cares about and plays just to make fun of.
Ref the ragin Boss there's still a lot to be made, you can't say that "Halo is finally going uphill" because there is no proof about that, yeah splitscreen is back (thanks god) but is not the only thing missing in Halo.
Halo you seen halo wars 2? have you seen LateNightGaming's video where he went to 343i headquarters for a day and told him a bunch of shit? have you heard about the return of split screen? the new art style almost CONFIRMED to come back? do some research before commenting.
For all the people saying 343 is now going in the right direction? Wow a business is telling you what you want to hear thats new its not like they have pr people for that. Once evidence comes out they have actually changed. It might reconsider you trust these people after that marketing they pulled. Also halo 6 might come out on xbox scorpio with a different architecture so they have a lot of problems without even getting to the game. Halo wars 2 was a good step. I hope they can knock the next one out the park.
lets give halo 6 a chane Halo 4 had a good campaign but overall bad multiplayer Halo 5 had a nice multiplayer but the only good part about the campaign was arbiter and the sword of sanghelios
OperatorDrewski hey drew, I'm actually building the $2,000 PC build you made, but it's taking so long to save up. It's totally worth it though.
OperatorDrewski ugh if you read the books all of the stuff from 4 and 5 make sense yeah they aren't as gritty but it was a new studio so duh the style changed a bit Gah people get so upset about the changes but it makes a lot of sense
OperatorDrewski the micro transactions of course is stupid but all games are doing it not just halo battlefield 1 does it it's all stupid
i was laughing my ass off when the halo 3 and halo 5 endings were compared
OperatorDrewski couldn't have said it better myself.
LOL! You included Hardy's audio from my interview, clips from my Warzone Firefight video and the Armor Customization video! This was great, dude!
+The Act Man dude, i LOVE your channel. Had to put you in here XD
Put your weewee in me.
The Act Man lol, for a second I thought you were going to go all out Nintendo on this guy
Copyright materials. This video must be taken down, imagine all the dollars your losing! Like 14! That's like a meal from Wendy's or something right?
It's The Act Man!
That Halo 3 advert with the old men gives me chills, actually chills. I love HALO 3 and the marketing for it was sooo good
Harry Tapscott Lol, Halo 4 sucked.
It had the best marketing campaign that I've ever seen.
Those were fucking awesome
I''d love a halo movie or something from the perspective of a marine or an ODST
You never really see how fierce of an enemy the covenant is as the Master Chief, and I never knew how one sided the Human-Covenant war was until I read the lore.
I mean Brutes are like 9 ft tall hulking beasts, and you can tell how strong they are just by the spiker in those ads. You can actually see how heavy it is by how he lifts it, and then says "they used it as a handgun"
On top of being massively technologically superior, the covenant weapons and shielding and the fact that the Elites are agile and the Brutes are ferocious, and both of them being much larger than humans makes them truly terrifying enemies.
A great and creative market tactic.
That Halo 3 and halo 5 mission comparison was hilarious
Smaugs Wrath halo 5 is the worst campaign, no disputing it. but I feel like comparing a middle title to a, then thought, series finale is a bit much. should have compared to halo 2 because it got the middle title treatment as well, but only in the ending.
Christian Johnson halo 2's abrupt ending pissed me off quite a bit... so I understand where you're coming from
DontHatemusiK You do know why they had to end it quickly right? Microsoft and the money hungry Bill Gates cut it to release in time for the holidays. There is a file in which it explains the full ending somewhere on wiki. Good luck.
Smaugs Wrath which wiki is that?
DontHatemusiK I'm thinking it's the halo lore and projects wiki but I'm not too shure
The halo 3 main menu music almost made me tear up ...
CRAZY BOY same
CRAZY BOY I feel lonely when I here that song, but when I heard the rock version I feel I can fight the world.
That + the last mission of halo 3 video.. Shivers and tears
Same
found myself humming along perfectly.
Hit me right in the feels. Who else met some awesome people on Halo 2 and 3 multiplayer?
Parth Patel some friendships to last a lifetime
Parth Patel all my halo 3 buds have been offline for years. Every time I hear that song at the main menu... brings me back to the good old days.
I miss the good ole days of halo reach I've basically quit halo and moved onto rainbow 6 siege
True True
Ezra Wood 343 confirmed a week or so ago that split screen is coming back in halo 6, so that's at least a step in the right direction
An AustintatiousGamer I'm so glad that they confirmed that
I think one of the reasons they didn't do split screen was because of how terrible the XB1 is. They wanted to keep the game at 60 fps and I guess that meant sacrificing split screen. Luckily they realized that was a mistake and said that all their other games from here on out will have split screen.
Laser4242 but the MCC has split screen and it runs at around 60fps. it's definitely possible
There's a reason that I've played through the original 3 halo games countless times and never once replayed halo 4 or 5.
The art style?
Th3r3alfuzzball 95 I really do feel everyone blames the artstyle to much yes it’s important but I can play a halo game where Masterchief looks like he’s a fucking robot raccoon and as long as the gameplay and story was great the game would be great
honestly such a god damn shame. halo 1-3 hold a special place in my heart, because I loved them as a kid back then and love them just as much now. The multiplayer, the music, the story... it was so wonderful. Its depressing to see whats happened to the franchise...
Tasinater Yo me too, those games were great, Halo 3 was definitely one of the best games I've ever played in my life
Music is still good now
Halo isn't dead, it's missing in action
Russ Irons Well we better hope it respawns really damn quick
No that's Spartans, halo gets blown up all the time, but there's always another ring that we missed
lol
No, Halo is dead lol
as long as this company 343 industries is allowed to continue to make these "halo" games, then halo will remain dead.
E Tacticoop i call halo 5 Call of Duty: ripped of version
Angry Dub you realise Halo had a fucking HUGE competitive scene right? They made MLG what it is today. They had Dr pepper, Doritos, hot pockets, fuckin trident layers as sponsors. Halo from it's very roots has been made and recieved as a competitive game. Halo 5 sucked, but not because they tried to "make it competitive", which is what they were supposed to do.
Honestly I’d be fine with just sprinting thinking logically the ability to sprint makes sense but the other abilities... just no
I don't normally comment on videos; I'm usually a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" type of viewer.
Michael Sylvester same dude. Ik how u feel
Dylan Dees I'll admit, Reach does deserve some love; not just because it was Bungie's last Halo, but because it was actually a lot better than people give it credit for.
Michael Sylvester Yeah, it was a great story, lovable characters, good gameplay. sad ending.
you cant forget that halo 3 had one of the best online multiplayer experiences of any game. the death matches were extremely well balanced with large numbers of bungie and user created maps. not to mention that you could set up an open custom game on a custom forge map (like tower v3), invite randoms in and have an absolutely insane time. those were the days...
I can literally and have gotten more fun out of cheaper games.
sadbuttrue319 BF4 is not pay to win. The best weapons are in the base game.
Jay Jackson attachments tho
its about revenue because dumb gamers throw money at this nonsense at every given opportunity, its fucking pathetic.
Doom was a better halo then halo 5.
It truly is. The campaign was so badass I replayed it a lot of times.
100% better.
Mathew Waters it was! All it needs is aliens
Duel Welding too, (343 take note !)
Mathew Waters Did the person delete their comment? Because I wanted to know what it said
(Last Mission of Halo 5)
*Mouth half open, dead unblinking staring eyes, feeling dead inside*
(Last Mission of Halo 3)
*WOOOO! Fists up in the air cheering for Chief, struggling to be contained, overjoyed with how fun and engaging the game is, go Master Chief!!!*
Repeat x2
And 343 wonders why people hate these fucking games, it's like they were made by robots or a computer, you could tell the guys behind Bungie's Halo were fun and goofy guys who loved to make awesome games, and it really shined through in their work, now Halo is just a soulless reanimated husk made by people who don't care and don't get it, but the M$ whip cracks, so the work must be done, just no passion anymore, no energy in this franchise.
MindsAblaze2 Bungie cared about the franchise, 343 just cares about deadlines.
MindsAblaze2 (last mission on halo 4) *cries for john cause he lost his only comfort*
Kyle Barkes what are you taking about?? Halo had an extremely good campaign
evilphoenix 007 no need to be like that.
There really isn't anything which has filled the Halo void either, unfortunately. Just have to move on I guess.
It's a scenario that's playing itself over and over again. Star Wars fans are having the same pain.
Shmalax I got a xbox 360 just for halo 3.
Shmalax exactly man
Shmalax bitch the master chief collection is like $20 for Xbox one and i'm almost certain the games backward compatible
Shmalax My first game wasnt H3 because the X360 came with the good Arcade ones, until my parents buy it separatly, but It can count as it jaja
Shmalax And I feell the same comrade
343 is killing the single best thing from my childhood. I grew up on this. it molded me into the gamer i am today. And They're neutering it. Grabbing it by the balls and shaving them off with rusty scissors.
Overkill weeb. You people keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means
lol couldnt say that better "rusty scissor" lmao
Mario Badia well wtf has 343 given us???
Mario Badia well wtf has 343 given us???
Jacob Rancour halo wars 2
I *H A T E* that the locke vs chief fight was *SLOW* and *STALE*
Chief would have destroyed Locke and there wouldn't be a Locke for halo 6
Its hilarious that a supersoldier who can literally sprint as fast as a car while wearing a 1 ton armor, and a guy with an armor designed to keep up with that, move slower than average people.
Part 2?
HaloFollower piss off
oooh nice to see you here :D
OperatorDrewski
I'm kind of curious. What are your thoughts on halo wars 2? As someone who is a massive fan of the originals (and not so much a fan of 343's halo) I felt like it was a bit of a breath of fresh air. The game could have been significantly better, but the campaign wasn't horrible (just a bad ending) and the gameplay is almost identical to that of the first Halo Wars and because of that, I was satisfied.
what? please explain?
MrRookie same here man
Let's all just send this to 343
MrJimboABC i mean fallout 4 isn’t any better lol
Christian McDaniel honesty hurts
what are you on about?
YES!!
fallout is pretty much as dead as halo
I gave up on Halo after halo 4, i got halo 5 with my Xbox one but immediately traded it in against fallout 4 instead.
once the human vs covenant war was over the games stopped being interesting.
Did you like Halo 4? I thought it was alright but honestly, wasn't a fan of the forerunners as the main enemy. (I haven't played that game since it came out so I don't remember everything)
I actually really enjoyed Halo 4! RIGHT up until Chief meets the Librarian and they pull the "You are the Chosen one" crap. Halo's story was all about how Humanity was a young, scrappy race beating the odds, and then suddenly Halo 4 pulls the rug out from under you and says:
"No. None of those sacrifices matter. You won because you were supposed to. Now go kill the bad guy that we won't bother giving any real backstory on, just trust us... He's a bad guy."
Then they really jumped the shark with Cortana protecting the chief from a nuclear blast.
Flash Gordons Themesong agreed
You're my hero Nathan Hogan lol.
Nathan Hogan Eww Fallout 4 is ass
i've been an avid halo fan, easily clocking 4000 hours in halo reach only and i dont even know how many in the previous games. as soon as 343 took over the series... it was over, it became call of duty with a halo skin on it...
Reach felt like they were emulating cod. Halo 4 was pretty obvious they were but have you played 5? It plays nothing like cod.
But without the fun cod multiplayer. You have to use a whole clip for every gun in order to kill someone
Yeah, I don't know how you get anything related to cod out of halo 5.
Halo 5 mp was definitely an improvement on 4 but the obvious main let down of it was the whole single player experience, what I think a lot of people play Halo for in the first place, in contrast to a series like CoD
Jake The Snake you're saying you see no resemblance to advanced warfare?
Halo CE-3 are the best games I have ever played Reach was really good also to be fair and the last good Halo game
Mysterious Apples yep ever since 343 came around halo sucks
You 2 know your shit.
Might I add... Reach is my fav halo game. It's the only good halo game that runs well enough online still. Halo CE, 2, and 3 are fucked on the MCC and halo 3 on the 360 has some server issues that didn't exist back in the day.
Sigh... I'm afraid Reach's online days are numbered too. I can already feel Reach online feeling laggier.
Wait Reach still has an online multiplayer community!!?? Last year when I tried to play it took 30 mins to find a game
yeah it does! a friend told me when he found 6 other players online
Dude, if u were to hop on xbox live right now, there would be a substantial amount of people playing halo reach, it just depends which gamemode, LOTS of people play team slayer, big team battle, infection, and some other stuff, but the community for halo reach is actually more lively than halo 4's funnily enough.
Halo 3 was the proper end to Halo for me. Halo 4 and 5 do not fit, period.
Seth Whitty halo 4s story was pretty good for a comeback of the series but 5 had that shitty writer... Brian reed, thank god they got rid of him today!
dude 4 and 5 was trash 4 was smelly nasty runs. 5 was just a regular dog shit
4s was ok the cortana dieng got me ONLY cuz I've been a halo fan for so long but that's really thing that I felt through that campaign
Wasn't the halo 4 one mainly focusing on how they would introduce the forerunners?
yep and it was still trash
Zackarco i like 343 more than bungie
and im not trolling
10:50 the nostalgia is real I feel like crying 😥 halo will never be the same game it was before Rest in peace it was so good ...
more like the menu for CE.
Halo is never dead, just missing in action
if 343 would stop trying to turn it into a childrens game it might actually get some support from it's long time fans
The Illuminati
Or from any fans...or anyone in general lmao
Yeah, if only de knew de wei.
They are trying to draw in children cuz they are the only ones who defend their games
S A V A G E
Halo also died when 343 decided that what was necessary was a bunch of progression and customisable loadouts to shove down everyone's throat. Halo 4 already ruined the multiplayer by removing the "We have all the same weapons and abilities at the start of the match, and the only difference between us is our skill." Halo was the last series that followed the arena shooter tradition of weapons being acquired exclusively on the battlefield. Halo 3 SWAT always felt like the absolute essence of comptetive shooter gameplay. Now Halo multiplayer is basically just CoD with spartans.
Halo 5 doesn't have customizable loadouts though.
Martin C and loadouts began in the once hated but now loved for some reason Halo Reach.
In Reach the loadouts were preset depending on the gamemode, not user created. There were also no unlocks or weapon progression of any kind.
Yeah but it still comes up with an excuse to throw away the equal footing players had in Bungie developed Halo titles.
Honestly, after 343 took over, the franchise should've ended, because 343 isn't keeping it to the roots of the game like bungie
GTA 5 and BF4 yeah, just by changing the sound design and art design alone showed their horrible disrespect to the franchise they were given to take care of and help continue to grow, instead of adding to something great, they stripped it of its face and voice and changed it into an abomination that shambles around attempting to call itself what it once was under its creators that loved and cared for it.
wrong, the sound design is more realistic, and they are upholding the lore better than bungie ever did.
Optimus Prime sure they are but they arent making amazing games like Bungie did
they are a new studio, besides bungies games weren't amazing, they each had flaws e.g h3s story
everything about reach (firefight and covenent were well done though, minus the brutes design)
hce was ridiculously simple, odst was short, 2 was a bit of a mess in terms of campaign.
point is, bungie weren't perfect,
GTA 5 and BF4 prometheans are great villains though
I remember when Halo was good. God damn.
This whole second trilogy was a cash grab I called it as soon as halo 4 was announced. That's why bungie stopped doing halo. This should've died with halo 3, I remember reading all the books and playing halo non stop, but now it's just shit.
bungie stopped doing halo cuz their contract ended, bungie wanted out since hce.
Ecap yeah instead bungie went on to make a shitty autistic MMO-that's not actually a MMO-grind fest
Ecap I think reach is worth existing if only for the campaign, god was it ever entertaining and tragic.
oG-DaLLaS i play destiny and i gotta say this game is more halo than all of the 343 games. definitely up to bungie's standards
Mark Didn't alot of the old bungie team who was working on Destiny left though during the production of the game?
As a Halo UA-camr this hit me right in the feels.Especially the beginning montage.
Yes sir
Halo Reach was the last good halo game
I mean Bungie Set up for 4 with the end of 3. We had to get Chief home, Halo 4 delivered that and only had the writing on the case as a reason to have a "forerunner saga"
Yup
343 needs to burn down
oligreendot bungie why did you leave me
listen 343 are hearing us they brought back the classic art style in halo wars 2 and black under suits are coming back split screen is going to be in every fps halo from now on and local multiplayer is coming back
and reqs are not coming back
oligreendot That means no more halo though.
I dont understand how people kids especially defend 343i or Microsoft that shit is beyond me.
Bear Grills because kids are kids and didn’t experience the real halo days
Eric Lee square enix? Nintendo?
Eric Lee You see how much shit EA got for micro transaction for battlefront? Halo hardly got major scrutiny, halo was never about pay to win shit. When I pay money for a game, I don't expect nor want it to be a pay to win. That's retarded, bungee didn't do that. Bungee made amazing halo games. When you introduce pay to win the game almost instantly will suck. Name one good game that you have to buy and is a pay to win that is good. Nothing exactly.
Hope? That they make a good Halo game.
I'm always fascinated and impressed when I see halo 3's marketing, it was phenomenal and it really brought the universe to life
I always get an adrenaline rush from halo 3's final mission with the exciting score and amazing scenery
And ngl almost brought a tear to my eye when the halo 3 menu came up with its beautiful music and then immediately got pissed off when i saw halo 5's.
Halo reach was the last great Halo game!
Which is why I still play it, to keep the good games going it has around 12k players on average and i love making maps and hosting game nights like the old days!
Rhys Nichols awesome! I might play a little this weekend on xbone even though for some reason the frame rate drops.
I was new to halo when 5 came out so i bought reach and still loce it
343-so we will now be makiiiiiiiing....what now
Bungie-halo
343-haaaalo?
Bungie-yes halo
343-alright time to make call of duty
Bungie-no halo!
343-battlefield?
Bungie-ok im done...
It's sad that this is true.
Give halo back to bungie, 343 clearly has no f*cking idea how to build and develop an epic story or make a half decent game.
thinks back to the days of halo 3 and reach, tears up abit.
Kodi Hesketh same 😢
Kodi Hesketh Moreover, the whole genre change really rattled me. I came for nitty gritty WAR, not some god damn space drama. HW 2 gives me a little hope though. A little
Kodi Hesketh amen

Yup 100% agree. Halo and Gears story should've ended at 3. But they should continue the multiplayer though, make it like F2P or something.
Actually the idea of Cortana being evil goes way back in 2001 with CE. The idea was that Cortana would go insane after going to the control room and chief would fight her. They just decided to use since they have little to know idea what to do.
Halo CE : The Beginning of the Great Journey
Halo 2 : Improvements, best Storyline IMO
Halo 3 : The Golden age of Halo
Halo Reach : The Beginning of the End Times
Halo Wars : Refreshing, pretty solid.
Halo 4 : The Jump from the cliff
Halo 5 : Fall Damage
Spartan Z020 Halo 6 : Death
@@MetalRuless Not quite. Halo survived the fall, but sadly it'll be hospitalised on life support for the next decade
Down with 343.
ZUELK they are so bad lol
Bonnie Ross does not need to be in charge of 343
Umbra he's a stupid Democrat what do you expect.
Haltman Wood You do know who that is right?
Dont trust anyone whos name is Bonnie Ross lol
She might be bad but God is she fine af. Bonnie Ross is my sexy milf waifu🙂
I personally liked Halo reaches final stand aproach to the ending. But damn Halo CE, and Halo 3 endings were fucking amazing.
Halo reach was nice
Me and my wife played every halo co-op campaign together. Playing 1-2 missions a night after we got home from work was a fun way to bond and fight the covenant/explore missions. Then they just decided to get rid of split screen to "enhance the competitive aspect of the game"
Halo without split screen... What a fucking joke. I guess 343 just wanted Halo to be call of duty black ops 2, and forgot who it was. Great video.
RIP Halo: 2000-2011
Nah. Its the franchise that was sold to the wrong people.
I don't care who you are, I'm subscribing for perfectly portraying what has happened to halo. Perfectly done.
This makes me sad. We’re never gonna get to relive the glory days of halo (2004-2010). Rip
have hope friend, have hope
2001-2007
Fixed that for you
i stopped playing at halo 4 (bought the game, hated it) because i hated the art style (everything too over saturated and cartoonish, reach is my gold standard in art style), and gameplay (which was mostly to do with multiplayer map design), so i jumped ship and became a pc player before any of this shit, thank god
I agree with you but I also couldn't stand the campaign. The story was bad and incompatible with Bungee's lore, they clearly didn't understand Master Chief as a character and the game-play was both easy and poor.
DeathTDOW Halo 4 was one of the most well written campaigns in the franchise.
Nonsensical Sanic I'm calling bullshit your clearly an idiot and/or a troll.
DeathTDOW So what you're saying is, you didn't play it?
Someone send this to 343!
I would sell my soul for bungie to make halo again.
Bungie didn't know what to do with Halo after Halo 3. Halo Reach had a lot of problems as a result of this.
Hugh Janis even if they did it's not the same. They wouldn't make a game that good anymore
Destiny 2 might be better than any Halo game, for all we know. The Vault of Glass was as good as if not better than any Halo campaign level, IMO.
John D. obvious troll is obvious
I'm not trolling. You never know for sure how good or bad a game is going to be until it's out.
JUST GIVE THE DAMN FRANCHISE BACK TO BUNGIE
dr. dinky 343 owns the rights
dr. dinky are you sure you wanna do that? Have you played destiny? Have you experienced that campaign? I say get the original devs together and have them make 1 final go at the game and wrap everything up. The franchise has been tainted enough. It's time to lay it to rest.
dr. dinky that's a bad idea
Bungie was clear they wanted to stop making Halo games
Bungie had a 10 year contract with Microsoft when they were purchased. Giving Halo back to Bungie is a horrible idea with how horrible Destiny is. And the fact that the majority of the original Halo designers have moved on to other companies and projects. Just be grateful it's still around.
The switching between the new and the old, every time it would switch to the old I would get chills and swells of emotion and memories. Especially on the Halo 3 home screen.
“Halo is a dead franchise”
Were it so easy
Halo quit being Halo when its extended lore was implemented to it’s games. It really should have just ended at 3.
The Forerunners were a mysterious race who built weapons of mass destruction to destroy outbreaks of the Flood.
Make Halo Great Again 2018
+FlyingAggie gig'em
Please make an hour version of this. I would totally watch it.
I almost get brought to tears thinking of old bungie, and their good bye message in reach.
343 killed one of my favorite series
Kurt Yarish No.everhthing can be redone. if resident evil and god of war can reinvent themselves or find something new. why can't halo?
Halo 5 had a few holes and garbage marketing. If you hate Halo's new stuff a lot now, then stop following Halo.
BOBOFSAGGET it's not halo anymore. It's a cod titanfall wannabe. That'd the problem.
If you dislike it, then stop caring. You're wasting your time and you aren't going to change anybody's mind.
BOBOFSAGGET I don't need to change anyones mind. Declining sales and ratings prove me right.
Make halo great again.
The H5 compared to H3 final missions literally made me die laughing
Thank you
It isn't dead it's just going through a crisis
Steven Uribe better be just a crisis
SparrowEmpire 343 Industries just fired Brian Reed today. The Narrative Director position is now up for application and 343i is now seeking a new Narrative Director.
I got a question. Did they continue the series because fans wanted it or because microsoft felt like making another game?
Spicy Puffin bungie sold to 343.
look at the back of a halo 3 case, it says "the end of the trilogy".
Those big letters say "The stunning conclusion to the halo trilogy."
www.google.com/search?q=halo+3+case&client=ms-android-verizon&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwji8qqR39fSAhUL4WMKHVcrCNUQ_AUICCgC&biw=360&bih=512#imgrc=ZgqrDOLflbi7YM:
How was he wrong? Very simple.
I said the back of a Halo 3 case will say "End of a Trilogy".
He said "that's completely untrue."
I told him he was wrong.
I never said it WAS the end of Halo. I stated what the box said, and he denied it.
Andrew E dumbass
The problem is that the community, those who still play the game, don’t hear the opinions of those who left the game and do not want to. 343 apologists and diehard Halo fans don’t know what the franchise actually needs because they blindly accept the less than stellar sequels to the franchise they love.
Halo ended at halo reach.
at least halo wars 2 seems to go back to what it was
PervasivePeach it's filled with bugs and crashes. super laggy even when just doing co-op campaign with my buddy right next to me
though tbh halo wars 1 sucked balls. I love halo, but im manly an rts player. Halo wars was not a good rts.
If they were smart they would have made Halo Wars 2 with PC mind first it would have made it legendary instead they made it along side consoles
sage798 I haven't had any bugs and I haven't had any crashes you playing on pc or something?
Pulling up the main menu of halo 3 gave me goosebumps.
This is why I got Halo: Master Chief Collection
I cried...jesus...HALO IS DEAD...
But its not though?
Nevermind I just cried
It'll die when no one makes new ones
It’s not dead, it’s MIA
just like star wars these 2 legends needed to rest in peace ;-;
Great video that pulls together a lot of things I've said about the state of the Halo universe since 343 took over, espeically since the release of Halo 5. The editing in of the Halo 3 vs. Halo 5 menus really got me too!
343 have ruined Halo with
False advertising
Low Content amount
Microtransactions
Bad script and un interesting characters
Bad story
I am very surprised that people defend 343i and Halo 5 by saying it has the best gameplay and multiplayer from all the Halo games and being a responsable man I share with them this video so they can wake up and make them see that they seriously need some high magnification glasses great work Drewski.
This was a powerful video. As a long time Halo fan, I felt everything from nostalgia, to frustration, to heartbreak. Incredible video sir. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber :)
The main menu comparison had me crying in laughter and anger.
I love Halo 3's (and Reach's) Menu. Bring that style of menu back, please.
Good times, good times.
the 1k dislikes are people that were born yesterday and don't understand what a good game is like.
H2A is good. Too bad it's only 7 maps.
Make Halo 6 more Halo-like.
Darkside780 its so sad that we have to even say "make halo more like halo" smh 343 ruined this game its sad
at the halo 3 main menu part, I almost started to cry from the nostalgia
*PRAISE MARTIN O'DONNELL...*
Halo died when 343 took over. Halo 4 was the beginning of the end
Nah fam, Halo Reach was. And it's not the beginning of the end. Halo 4 is my favorite story wise, and Halo 2 and 5 are my favorite Multiplayer wise.
@@Mr.KittensAndGibberish nah m8, don't talk shit about my Reach. I will DMR your ars
@Zantic Trant I don't see how they gave up at the end of 4. The ending was phenomenal.
@@ls200076 Reach was meh. I love the armor customization, but that's it. I really enjoyed Armor Lock though. That's my favorite ability.
Drewski, have you seen CrowbCat's video "ex-Bungie compared to 343 Industries"? If not I would definitely recommend it.
It's just disappointing to see an amazing franchise fall so far from its original style.
arguably, starwars 7 was really just 'enjoyable' at best
Halo Wars 2 is first really solid Halo game by 343
Nazi Vegeta everyone who enjoys playing it?
Nazi Vegeta leave right now
343 Happened guys. we can't blame it all on them. their asses are just getting whipped by Microsoft and the industry to generate revenue. years ago you paid for the full game and dlc were additional add ons months later. now you pay for a beta and wait for the team to complete the game and sell it to you by parts.
Cancer.
tutu07777 Actually, 343 was created by Microsoft to be a studio dedicated to continuing the franchise.
Apparently, the word "continuing" is synonymous with "ruining" in Microsoft's vocabulary.
I love how they increased the game speed to fast pace in halo 5 backing it up stating that's how spartans actually move in lore, and then proceed to have the two main characters fight slow af.
I'm gonna send this to 343i so they can take notes for Halo 6.
You're implying 343 can take notes, which implies they can write things down. After seeing the story for Halo 5's campaign, I'm pretty sure they can't write for shit. :D
This guy sounds like he's extremely bitter about something. Probably plays EA games and thinks they're the best.
They should have stayed with the didact, trying something good with M'dama and keeping the banished...
Ugh when you showed the side by sides of the final mission and menus, a shiver went down my spine and I teared up a little bit. These things hit close to home when they are literally some of the best memories of your childhood, completely taken away.
Halo died with Bungie
Halo 5 is an awful game lol
It's not awful, it just isn't Halo anymore.
Aldozzy, no it's a pretty abysmal game. If it wasn't called Halo it would be one of those shitty games that no one cares about and plays just to make fun of.
Nick Saxon And Bungie died with Destiny.
And Bungie died with Halo
Destiny is an awful game lol
Nick Saxon you know what else is an awful game? Battlefield 1. The difference? HALO 5 IS GOOD
I find it funny that you made a video like this when halo has started to heal. good timing and good research man.
Ref the ragin Boss
there's still a lot to be made, you can't say that "Halo is finally going uphill" because there is no proof about that, yeah splitscreen is back (thanks god) but is not the only thing missing in Halo.
halo starting to heal? LOL!
Halo you seen halo wars 2? have you seen LateNightGaming's video where he went to 343i headquarters for a day and told him a bunch of shit? have you heard about the return of split screen? the new art style almost CONFIRMED to come back? do some research before commenting.
Yes there is, watch Late night gamings new video and you will see the proof. They are listening to us and that video has all the evidence we need.
Better to not let them forget I guess
pre 2012 Halo will always live on... never forget.
Remember Reach
11:26 me after completing the campaign
For all the people saying 343 is now going in the right direction?
Wow a business is telling you what you want to hear thats new its not like they have pr people for that.
Once evidence comes out they have actually changed. It might reconsider you trust these people after that marketing they pulled.
Also halo 6 might come out on xbox scorpio with a different architecture so they have a lot of problems without even getting to the game.
Halo wars 2 was a good step.
I hope they can knock the next one out the park.
lets give halo 6 a chane
Halo 4 had a good campaign but overall bad multiplayer
Halo 5 had a nice multiplayer but the only good part about the campaign was arbiter and the sword of sanghelios
