Fixing Everything Wrong with the Twin Turbo LS Swap Delorean - Original Widebody DMC12 Build

- The twin turbo LS Swapped Delorean has made its way back to the shop! That doesn't mean we've forgotten about any of our other builds. Our new V8 Delorean is still getting some love. We're just waiting on some parts that we're going to be showing you in next week's video!
But with our other builds on hold, it's the perfect time to dive back in to our original turbo LS Delorean project. We're going through this entire build and fixing everything that didn't get enough attention the first time around. That includes pulling our driveshafts and getting the rear end ready for some custom new ones that will be able to hold up to the 700+ horsepower we plan on making, pulling our turbos so that we can reposition them higher up, and ripping out the air shocks to replace them with some KW coil overs. Not only does the owner of this DMC12 want to be able to comfortably drive this car, he wants to really be able to rip it. So switching up to a performance coil over is the way we're going to go!
The next time you see this Delorean, we're going to be doing all the fabrication to fix our turbo system and prepping this car for the dyno!

Glad to find your channel. I love the Delorean build. I’d wrap the body kit to match the stainless best you can. But it’s rad! Gauges and lights send it over the top. Not to mention the twin turbo ls. I’ve been looking for one locally ever since.

@@sleepii15 I started sweeping floors when I was 17 at a race shop. You just have to start somewhere.
The same raw finished widebody pieces would look wild on this. Im sure it wouldnt be cheap or easy either. But anything custom is never cheap or easy. The reward is that much sweeter though. Love the build

we did a turbo conversion a while back on a mitsi fto and had the same problem with the smoking like a chimney problem. ended up being the turbos were hanging down too low and the oil couldnt drain back the the sump properly. moved the turbos up and problem solvered.

Why no scavenge pump on the turbo oil return. That would have fixed the issue of the turbo drain being mounted lower than the oil height in the pan. It's also possible that the oil seals have already been blown out on the turbos themselves.
Additionally, you should probably check your intercoolers and full cold side to see if you need to flush them of oil build-up from the turbos. I would imagine that you would've noticed it when modifying the piping, but you never know what can actually build up inside the intercooler cores.
Edit (addition): Instead of doing the static height coilovers, especially with that front lip, did you think about doing a hydraulic lift system like the KW HLS, JRI Hydraulic Ride Height system, or even Mittler Brothers Hydroshox? It would be really cool to do a 4-corner hydraulic lift with an adaptive damper system, or at least a remotely adjustable system. Something like stacking the KW HLS on their DDC dampers.
BTW "Doc" and "Marty" should be a no brainer. But if you wanted to go deeper you could choose "Calvin Klein" and "Clint Eastwood" as a nod to the aliases Marty McFly used in the BTF movies. You could also use "Biff" & "Mad Dog" or "Griff". With that body kit, the DMC-12 does kinda look like it would've been at home on the 2015 set right next to Griff's custom 633CSI.

Funny how fast you got the windows to roll down quickly. On mine they were so slow. The doors were useless in drive thru’s (no room to open them) so had to make these little windows work. Tilting fast food beverages was not fun (had to order small drinks). No cup holders either, drinks went between your legs. The bank drive thru had that air tube system with the cylinder where you put your stuff in. That cylinder fit perfectly through the window. Lots of challenges doing stuff in this car back in the day with the little windows and Gullwing doors. Would not change a thing though, was fun.
Yea there upgraded motors and yes these cars are very unique to drive lol

I would love to see a restomod of a Delorean being turned into a reliable daily driver with a nice swapped v6 engine, interior upgrades and not much of a race car

If you don’t install a scavenge pump, those turbos will always smoke being behind the oil pan. When the car under acceleration, the oil will want to run towards the back of the car. Making it hard for the oil to drain back into the pan..

The in-engine firewall is crying out for some LEDs.
I'm a fan of the LS and have always liked the DeLorean especially with a motor they should have used. I think a Lamborghini V10 would be cool as well with some crazy F1 style exhaust.

This is a gorgeous build... question though. Have you ever considered addressing one of the major body points of the DeLorean that front grill cowl? Id love to see that as stainless and not the glass thing they went with.

I was thinking about what you were saying about names and had some possibly good ones. Could call one Deloris for the older sister and the other Delaney who is the playful younger sister, or the dominatrix sister Delenor, or the stripper sister Delilah, or the western sister Delphine, the sister down south Della, or the goth satanic sister Delyth, but my favorite is the heavy metal lovin sister Deloise. If you find more Deloreans to work on I have a bunch more names. I can not wait to see more past episodes on the channel and what you come up with in future builds.

How low are your turbos you might need a clamp for flow regulator I seen on a different turbo has something to do with the oil backing up
well if you don't count that smoke you blow out cause your fuel mixture is too rich, and the blue smoke mixed with the black I guess you're running at premium settings

Have you done anything to the baffling in the oil pan now that the engine is facing the wrong way? I've read people with 911 LS swaps have had oil starvation issues when racing unless they modify the pan baffling or go dry sump.
@@diztroy1 yes we plan on modifying the oil system once we go to final testing on the car. Probably will go dry sump in the near future

Not wit the intercooler set up. The engine bay is surprisingly tiny due to a back seat that was turned into a shelf last minute.

They were never good cars. A badass con on the British government but NEVER a good car. Mechanically he can do anything to the car as long as he steals the parts. And gets two groups who hate each other to work together while finding a queen of something to pay for it... and you just built the car mister delorean claimed to be trying to make.
