I mean....it has to survive in tough conditions, and has to be something that works in a crazy environment. The LAST thing you want when stressed on the job rushing to finish, is an overly complex coffee machine!
This is certainly rather curiously interesting! My Dad is a contractor, but doesn't drink coffee. If I was making a 6 figure income, I'd LOVE to get it for my Dad as a GREAT Gag Gift!

Keeping in mind that the people who would buy that most likely have 6 or 7 of those batteries just lying around, I am still quite disappointed that Makita didnt include one as well as the option to plug it in. each battery at full charge should give an hour or two of ugga duggas, and most rtadespeople probably want to stop for a coffee every few hours, so a small board to switch between battery charging, mains powered coffee maker and the cordless mode would be super handy- remember to change/recharge batteries when getting a coffee, and still have the portability

This is such a strange product. I don't really see it in use at a construction site, just because it only produces enough for one person, and I can't imagine the crap that one person would take for bringing their special little coffee maker to make their special little coffee lol. I, however, can see this would be something that would feel at home in a garage where you may have a lot of Makita tools already. Or even something you'd take with you in your work truck. Actually, thinking now, this looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to hack into specifically in-car brewing system.... Ooh, or even something for truckers. Which makes this machine not very practical if a.) you want to make coffee for more than only 1-2 people or b.) you want to take this machine with you somewhere where you do not have a chance to recharge the battery (then you'd need like ten charged batteries just to get through all the coffee you want in one work day for several people).

I wonder how many cups' worth of charge is stored in that massive battery. It looks like Makita makes a smaller battery and charger that's $70 (or $40 for just the battery) and which is what's used for many of their smaller tools, and it's also compatible with the coffee maker.

I’ve had one of these in the red Japan only color for about 2 years now and yes it makes an awesome cup of joe. The only thing that’s gone wrong with it over the years is the little mesh cup that holds the coffee grounds. The mesh is imbedded into the plastic cup and from being heated up so many times the mesh has risen to the surface and I can tell at some point it’s going to start falling off. Still works great tho two years in. Another complaint is this thing uses way more battery power than it says. It says a 6ah battery can make about 6 cups of coffee, that’s a lie. My brand new 6ah battery makes about 2 cups, sometimes only 1 and a half before it dies

It's not gourmet coffee, but that's not what you expect at a jobsite, as a trucker, a park employee, or anyone who spends time in remote or generally power-less situations. A French press is glass and it will break if you pour hot water in it when it's cold or if you are going down a 4x4 trail. This is built with no frills it's just coffee without an outlet or fire.
