I think the one thing missing from all bike review channels is a deep dive into quality control and customer service. How many people are plunking down $1500 and having it break with little to no support within a year. The first channel to do this will change the industry as buyers will no longer have to hope for the best.
Agreed. I bought from REI because they offer 2 yrs trouble shooting and some fixes for members. Not the cheapest because of that but I feel good in wiping where to take it if needed.
Everything I know about Ebikes comes from watching your videos and reading short internet articles. I am a 6’ tall 67-year-old man and have been looking to purchase my first ebike. I am interested in a fat tire ebike for a comfortable ride on both paved rural streets and our local dirt roads & trails and I am intent on purchasing a bike from a local bike shop. I have found one shop that carries the Denago Fat Tire, and another that carries the Aventon Aventure 2, The bikes are priced exactly the same. The Denago advertises a greater range per charge with a 20 Ah battery (vs 15Ah for the Aventure.) The Aventon Aventure does come with an extra battery. I have watched your videos on both bikes and would appreciate your overall opinion as to why you chose the Aventure as well as any feature comparisons that you would consider notable. Thank you for all the work you put into helping educate people about ebikes.
1500+ miles on my Ariel Rider Grizzly and it still puts a smile on my face. You are correct, it is a beast and not as nimble as other models. All you have to do is flick the switch to dual motors, twist the throttle and nimble becomes a non-issue.
I went into a bike shop to enquire about the Aventon Adventure 2. The owner (in business since '77) wasn't thrilled with Aventon in general. He didn't like that support is hard to receive from the company. One of his techs was nearby and was nodding in agreement. She told us they had a bike in their shop and that Aventon wasn't responding to their calls for weeks. When they finally got through to Aventon the excuse for the lack of support was, "that ticket fell through the cracks - sorry." But the owner said that it wasn't a one-off event that it was now the norm. He talked me into a different bike that had very similar specs to the AA2. It did cost me $200 more but the owner said that his experience with this other company (Troxus) was positive. I ordered the bike (Lynx Plus) and it'll come with the option of interchanging between torque and cadence sensing. That'll be cool :) ETA - the pick I opted for also has a longer warranty.
I just need a bike to commute 4 miles to work. After much consideration I can't see myself spending $2,000 to $4,000 dollars on an e- bike so I decided on a beautiful used GIANT mountain bike $250 bucks and I get to do some real exercise while getting to work in about 20 minutes (takes me an hour and a half walking, so I'm way ahead) And it's actually fun to ride, not that hard to pedal, and I can ride on the sidewalk
My bike has no rear shocks, but I got a suspension seatpost and it works at least as well as most shocks I've tried. I'm 67 and ride mostly rural dirt roads. I've done 60 miles with no problem and I'm far from in shape.
I'm 5'4" and wanting to commute to work 4 miles (mostly flat) and I want a bike that can take me there using mostly throttle My current regular small mountain bike takes me 45 minutes to get there and I'm exhausted by the time I arrive Which quality e-bike (s) would you recommend? And how much quicker would I get to work?
I've owned electric stand-up scooters and only dual motor. I want a more enjoyable experience and am interested in purchasing my first ebike. I'd like an ebike that's comfortable, easy to work on, find parts for, and has a long range. I'm not so sure about a single motor ebike, however. I was looking at the Ariel X52 step through or their Grizzly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I love the professionalism in your videos you make things less of a headache when looking for an ebike looking through category easy straight to the point and Availability never have i seen a video that checks all my boxs high praise all around! Though I imagine there in separate videos but I'd like to see full reworld test like this say 60 mile range but after the test show realistic experience and expectations after use
I have a lectric xpedition dual battery cargo bike. I heartily agree with that choice. 450 lbs. max payload, 150 mile max range and power if you want it.
Maybe i missed this, but is there any recommendations on best “long distance” e-bike? I know it’s still early to be demanding dual battery bikes, but that’s one area of e-biking that’s not touched on so much.

Just purchased and really enjoying the Velotric Summit 1. Class 3 with high end speed mountain/hybrid design. Nice to buy from a retail dealer when you need support, too.
Personally I think this video should have been a, "best bikes of 2023" roundup or something. Saying these bikes are, for sure, the best of a year that literally just begun is presumptuous. For me, I'm a loyal Aventon rider (coming up on 2,000 miles on my Level.2) and I cannot wait to see if they have something new for a possible Level.3 model. I'd love to see what Aventon could do with a mid-drive option or even possibly offer different frame material (carbon fiber? Probably never gonna happen though...) or even possibly give us something like faster charging.
I had the same thought. Every time I see "The BEST bike of 2024" I think, They haven't been released yet. I am also an Aventon rider. I have the Aventure 2 and love that thing. They make the smoothest torque sensor hands down. I have about 1000 miles on mine and I have seen the new Himiway, Super 72, Cyrusher etc bikes in development but nothing from Aventon yet for 2024. I'm anxiously waiting though. I need a good folder to travel with and thought they have the Sinch 2, it doesn't have hydraulic brakes and just a 500 watt motor so I'm hoping they improve it. Looked at the Heybike Tyson buy once you ride a GOOD torque sensor ebike, you can never go back to a cadence sensor.
We needed to pick a point in time to do this so we wanted to start with 2024. It felt a bit odd to call it a 2023 list as no one cares about "last year", but I see your point. Really any review video or best of list can be out of date as soon as we publish it so we're always fighting this challenge. I feel confident in our list as it stands right now in 2024 - some of these models might be upgraded this year, others will not. Not every brand is updating or coming out with a new model every year. We'll continue to perfect how we do this in the future.
@@Jhubble515 See above comment re 2024. On the Aventon side we'll see if they come out with a new Aventure. I don't think we should count on every brand updating a model every year. Some might but the trend depends on the brand. Like the Level.2 never got updated and it's been well over a year at this point.
A great review of the many different ebikes available. Thanks for the time, energy and expense. I gravitated to Lectric after my third knee replacement as I was challenged peddling my Trek bike. Their step-thru fit the bill for me as I wasn't sure what I could ride after those darn knees went south and I couldn't risk spending $2,000 if it didn't work out for me. My spouse and I were impressed by Lectric's rapid rise in the ebike market, their customer service and we have enjoyed them for the last 4 biking seasons. However, it was inevitable that competition would produce an alternative and now there is the Portola. We want to upgrade, get ebikes that are lighter with long range batteries, and now we have the difficult choice of two fold up bikes well within our price range. Something is on the horizon with Lectric so we'll wait and see what that is on the 12th of March. Perhaps they saw the writing on the wall and reacted to it. But you nailed it when you stated some companies will drop out - it will be interesting to see which ones will be challenged to their detriment.

I don't think you missed many but did you notice when you were on the avention adventure When you are showing the rear hub and the guy writing that the bracket to the? Fender is broken or at least it looks like it's broken.Do I win anything for Clue You guys in
I’ve had a dual motor dual battery full suspension fat tire bike for a couple of years now. And with 750 W in both front and rear wheels there is a problem. When going up a steep loose trail, the front motor needs to be turned off. Otherwise it spins. No traction control. Maybe it would be best to have 1000 W in the rear and 500 in the front. Thoughts?
So happy for the Electric Bike Co being rated and included. I decided on that one. Many customizable options! You can even get a seat with a back rest and smaller 24 inch wheels for short riders. Colors as you want so much fun to design on their website. Plus maybe they escape tariffs on imports as they are in SF
I had a DIY mountain ebike and later upgraded to the Ariel Rider Kepler. Its a great bike, but I feel like its not as nimble/ handling isn't great. For my next bike I will upgrade to a Torque sensor+ non-fat tire design
Hi. Love your reviews. I was looking at the Himiway Cobra, not pro, Mokwheel Obsidian, but haven’t heard of this brand, HOVSCO ™ HovScout 26", and Heybike Hero. Would love to get you guy’s thoughts. Thank you for all the work you do.
VVolt Centauri is Sold Out. However, VVolt Support gave me an update (02/15/2024): Regarding the Centauri, we're in the process of redesigning and consolidating the line (Centauri and Centauri S) to create Centauri II! We anticipate the bikes will land stateside by late spring 2024. You can expect a new frame design (mid-step through), integrated lights, an updated UL-listed electrical system, 14ah (500wh) battery, and an overall upgrade on all components. The first iteration of Centauri II will likely be configured with this very cool automatic 3 speed hub, though another configuration will feature the Enviolo Trekking hub. Considering the updated components and higher quality build, we are aiming at a retail price of $2,699 with shipping and the 3 year warranty.
I will take my 115lb Aniioki AQ177 Pro Max with duel motors, 52v-60amp, 4 piston breaks, headlight and rear light, twist throttle. I run my back motor mostly. The only time I use both is climbing hills or I need to get somewhere fast. My bike is a class3 and I can get 75+ miles on throttle alone, or we’ll over 100 miles on pedal assist 3 with moderate peddling or use both motors and little peddling 65-75 miles, Using both motors gives me plenty of power to exceed 40mpr. All this with a price of 1499-2000
Great video guys, enjoyed very much. I'm 72 and getting a little crippled up, bad knee and so on! I mountain biked right up till last year and enjoy very much. Need a little help, so I'm looking at e-bikes. Checked out local bike shops, they want my first born for one. Trying to figure out what I would like. Thanks for the video. I'll check out some of those brands, that you mentioned.
I didn’t see one full suspension bike so nothing you showed me was of interest. You specialized in U.S. made bikes so again you didn’t cover the BEST EBIKES available.
Would like to see more full suspension e-bikes and 20” for shorter people would be nice. What is your opinion of the Vitilan i7 pro? Would like your insight given your experience. We have been very happy with them.
We should probably have done a "best full suspension". The Deer from Magicycle is nice but I don't have a good read on customer support. Have not reviewed a Vitilan yet - perhaps a good bike but the brand is relatively unknown. Good to hear your experience though as it helps us decide what might be valuable to review next.
Probably a cargo ebike - like the XPedition. Just have to find a way to secure the load but the long-tail will give you the best platform for doing so.
The SunTour SP12 is a really good addition to my 20” e-bike. Now for a short rider it does keep you from lowering the seat post to the bottom, otherwise it’s great.
Iv heard so much bad about hub style bikes and how often they break down there weren’t much talk about mid motor bikes in your choices here is there really a bit of good in the hub driven bikes?
Whats your best & light wieght full suspention efat bike with pannier drybag system to tour & trail.?whilst still b3ing able to shed all that & screem up & down hills & mountains.double disc hydraulic brakes with ceramic brake calipres...and being safe with integral lights up front & 360 lazer space 360 for nightriding or traveling pinion gear & motor integral & plenty utility built into it -night vision & safety cam incase of accidents etc
im an older rider and really want to bike to pedal and exercise..but have power assist for hills or when "Im done" and want to get home. Pedaling an 80lb bike seems futile.
seeker24/26 and adria24 missing i have thd seeker 26 ... runs 38.6mph (with a 2nd battery in parallel for lower voltage sag under load) 1000 miles done without problems
Sadly we haven't reviewed it though we have asked. This list was only ebikes we've ridden since we don't like to recommend bikes we haven't ridden. My slight concern with Wired is the 1000 watt continuous advertisement. Technically this means it doesn't meet the classification of an ebike (750 watts). It's a weird rule for sure but it's important to be aware. Curious your thoughts.
@@EbikeEscape I see your point about the 1000 watt, but who is going to enforce all the rules about classifications? Everyone, of course, should be safe and watch their speed on trails. I hope you can get a wired freedom and tell us your opinion. I'm thinking about buying one in the spring
@@Mojo-Risin-Risin Sept 2023. They tweak each release based on customers response at this point. Seems to get better each release. I only had one issue with a charger, which was immediately resolved. When I called , I spoke with the owner who guided me through a diagnostic and sent him screen shots of the led and he immediately sent out a replacement. I belong to over 30 Wired freedom groups and a very high percentage of customers speak highly of the Owners and their customer service. The extra power is there when you want it but arrives "Tuned Down" The wired freedom has front and rear suspension . I can spend 2-3 days putting around the woods or beat the hell out of it wide open , throttle only most of a day. I live in an area of Maine that has a lot of hills .So range is subjective I can see where you could easily get a very long range when you need to . The accessories available on their website are often limited . Yet affordable. I have no regrets . Be careful at first . It is not a toy. ⛑🪖
Hello, first of all thank you for all the information you are giving us! When looking at your website, I've noticed that Magicycle is not part of your "Top Brands'. Is it because of quality issues or oversea support? I'm interested in buying the Deer 20...just want to be sure 😉
I own a Magicycle DEER and what I can say is that it is beyond my imagination. I will continue to pay attention to this brand and should not be underestimated.
Cool video! It's just that for 999 bucks there is an ebike that has front-and-back dual suspension, 750w motor, and 48v 20ah battery that you didn't mention. It's called Fucare Scorpio. Check it out man.
Can you tell me if you have and reviews on the Jasion E-bike brand. I see them all over social media but not sure if they are a reputable brand. Thanks so much! Love all your videos!
My husband has the eb7 one and it stopped working in less than a year. No customer support. Waste of money. We are watching this video because he needs a replacement.
Hands down, mid drive ebikes are the best. You really don't want to be stuck out in the freezing cold or rain trying to change a flat tire when the heavy motorized wheel is stuck on the bike. It takes enormous effort to remove it and it's just a huge hassle.
11:56 ok, yes the ride1up revv is a great bike, i love the moped design, but in Most places this classified as a electric Motorcycle because the motor is 1000w. With most of the US having 750w limits and Europe & Australia having 250w. This breaks ebike laws and puts it in a motorcycle class
Do you have a recommendation for a ranch work bike? Ideally AWD, with fat knobby tires, super durable, top speed could be 20, but able to power through swamp like meadow areas and up and down steep jeep trails pulling a small utility trailer. The gas equivalent to match against would be a Rokon Trailbreaker.
Really great video guys. I feel your opinions are valued by so many of us. Please, what is your take on the Lectric Trike? There are so many of these being returned multiple times for bad rear wheel bearings, etc, not to mention the shipping damage. Do you think they will get past these issues? thanks
Thanks! Out of the bunch I still like it. Hydraulic disc brakes and rear wheel drive. If it does get to you damaged at least Lectric will take care of you. I do believe they need to have parts for the rear bearings though.
You have done a very nice job by breaking down the categories. Unfortunately, I live in NY State and these bikes can not be used on roads that have a speed limit over 30mph. I live on a 55 mph road so I can't use one. Otherwise, I would be getting one.
hi, i'm a much older rider 80..... so can you review with older riders in mind maybe a separate category. I have a wallke H7..... review it, great bike

I don't think you missed many but did you notice when you were on the avention adventure When you are showing the rear hub and the guy writing that the bracket to the?
Fender is broken or at least it looks like it's broken.Do I win anything for Clue You guys in
What about the E-Cells Five Star E Bike. Thay seem to offer a great deal of options along with good quality build and components.
You seriously need to review the Wired Freedom models.
Ha noted 😉
yes. please review this one.
Thoughts?
I wish you would tell us what brand motors are on these top picks. Thanks for the reviews!!
Many, if not most brands don't share the motor brand. Thanks for watching!
For the grizzly, anybody know what those things in the spokes are called?
IM 78 and want a fast ebike ,Have a diy with 1200watt motor and 52 volt battery . GOES 35mph but i want a fat tire with better shock absorb.
VVolt Centauri is Sold Out. However, VVolt Support gave me an update (02/15/2024):
Regarding the Centauri, we're in the process of redesigning and consolidating the line (Centauri and Centauri S) to create Centauri II!
What do you think of the Aniioki A8 Pro Max? 200 miles of range, the most exteme Ebike...
Great video guys! Wish I had seen it prior to my purchase. Any comments on the Ghostcat F3 1500 Pro?
Not familiar with that one sorry.
Haven't been keeping up with eBikes this year, I was able to jump back in with this video!
I mountain biked right up till last year
and enjoy very much. Need a little help, so I'm looking at e-bikes. Checked out local bike shops, they want my first born for one. Trying
to figure out what I would like. Thanks for the video. I'll check out some of those brands, that you mentioned.
Good luck with your search. I hope you can find something to get you back out pedaling.
Excellent call on the Vvolt my wife rides a Centauri and I ride a Sirius. Great build, quality components, good support and high value for the cost.
We also agree. Vvolt is an underrated brand.
I am a senior and own a Rad Runner that I've had for a couple years, I ride it everyday, I want an upgrade, I like the Ariel Ryder. X class 52 v
Hi, how are you doing? I’m a pretty heavyset man 230 pounds. What bike do you recommend me for? Thank you.
There are a lot of models that will work for you, kind of depends on the style of ebike you want.
I would like to see a comparison of the folding bikes. The xp 3.0 vs the ride 1 up. Please make that video
You won't have to wait long!
What would you recommend for a ebike to ride to the ski hill with a snoeboard or skis?
Probably a cargo ebike - like the XPedition. Just have to find a way to secure the load but the long-tail will give you the best platform for doing so.
The SunTour SP12 is a really good addition to my 20” e-bike. Now for a short rider it does keep you from lowering the seat post to the bottom, otherwise it’s great.
Iv heard so much bad about hub style bikes and how often they break down there weren’t much talk about mid motor bikes in your choices here is there really a bit of good in the hub driven bikes?
I'm 73 and love my Euphree City Robin X+....glad to see it recognized. I did replace the seat post and seat lol
Glad to hear it! Did you need the seat lower? The suspension seatpost is sure nice,
no I used the Cloud 9 seat and redshift seat post that I had on my previous bike. I prefer the redshift over the sun tour post @@EbikeEscape
How does the Lectric xp lite compare to the similar E-lux brand?
Not familiar with that brand.
Pedaling an 80lb bike seems futile.
seeker24/26 and adria24 missing
i have thd seeker 26 ... runs 38.6mph (with a 2nd battery in parallel for lower voltage sag under load)
1000 miles done without problems
What about aniioki bikes.. I would like to know more on them ..
I like the bike escape/packers colors on the cruiser
Amp rides,Wired e-bikes, Goat e-bikes are in the top powerful e-bikes
I’m 330lb guy, is there a e-bike you would recommend for a heavier rider?
Gotrax f5 , half the price on Amazon now , I’m 330 6.3 fits me perfectly and it’s so powerful
Wired?
Wired is a great bike . I own one and it is a beast. The customer service is excellent . I am a 62 y/o forager here in Maine.
@@mainetiques Cool..nice to know..is yours the 2024 model?
I own a 3.0 and I really like this bike easy to ride easy to fold
Hello, first of all thank you for all the information you are giving us! When looking at your website, I've noticed that Magicycle is not part of your "Top Brands'. Is it because of quality issues or oversea support? I'm interested in buying the Deer 20...just want to be sure 😉
I own a Magicycle DEER and what I can say is that it is beyond my imagination. I will continue to pay attention to this brand and should not be underestimated.
Love my Lectric XP 3.0
The most fun e-bike.
It's the same style I have ordered.
I had to by a less expensive version but plan to add the second motor when I get the money.
Do they have parachutes or thermal run off fire extinguishers for the tiny pre schooler passengers who have never had a choice about safety?
category ideas:
Longest commute, smallest compaction, most bang-for-your-buck economic option, best cargo bike, most comfortable, most accessable
Cool video! It's just that for 999 bucks there is an ebike that has front-and-back dual suspension, 750w motor, and 48v 20ah battery that you didn't mention. It's called Fucare Scorpio. Check it out man.
Great job for someone just starting the decision-making process! THANKS, GUYS!
Our pleasure!
I would also like to see the comparison and re view between the Portola and Lectric 3.0
Check it out on our channel.
Have you been able to review the JetCurrent PRO yet? We value your reviews, Thanks
Would love to see a comparison of the Portola and XP 3.0. BTW, love your content.
I'm looking for a e bike for fishing possibly some offroading as well
Hands down, mid drive ebikes are the best. You really don't want to be stuck out in the freezing cold or rain trying to change a flat tire when the heavy motorized wheel is stuck on the bike. It takes enormous effort to remove it and it's just a huge hassle.
On the other hand though if your drivetrain fails a hub motor will get you home (provided you have a throttle)
The gas equivalent to match against would be a Rokon Trailbreaker.
how about Kingbull? they've got a great cargo and a lite electric bike.
How about WIRED BIKES? Have one and they are a beast!
We haven't reviewed one unfortunately otherwise it would have been considered. Discussed my thoughts in a different comment here as well.
@@EbikeEscapeagreeed. thanks
You should do a review on the shengmilo S600 dual motor 2000w
Where are the brand name bikes from companies like Norco, Salsa and Specialized?
You have done a very nice job by breaking down the categories. Unfortunately, I live in NY State and these bikes can not be used on roads that have a speed limit over 30mph. I live on a 55 mph road so I can't use one. Otherwise, I would be getting one.
Sorry to hear that. Thanks for watching
Try elux cruiser fat tire. It is a phenomenal bike. Hands down
What about the LeMond Dutch EBike?
It's really great but just doesn't have as wide appeal.
hi, i'm a much older rider 80..... so can you review with older riders in mind maybe a separate category. I have a wallke H7..... review it, great bike
Have the rest of this to Watch but I hope and I’m sure you mention to everyone about the huge discount rebates you get for having an EV bike? Some will save youf half of the price off your bike!. You guys were thorough and covered that right?
Thank you! My wife is looking and this list will help!😊
Glad it was helpful!
I'm surprised you didn't rate the MoonCool folding TK1! It runs head-to-head with the Lectric XP, plus, has a wider rear axle for better stability.
Haven't reviewed it.
Thanks for the video. We just purchased two of these being our first e-bikes ❗️
Hope you enjoy it!
I love my Lectric 3.0
Glad to hear it!
They seem pretty cool! Id like to demo one but i have physicial problems!!!- i resently gave up my motor cycle!
Has Ebike Escape ever reviewed the Hiboy P6...?
Thank you both for all your efforts 🎈🎈
I'd love to see a comparison of the lectric XPeak and velotric Discover 1. Your reviews of these seem to have preproduction models, would love to hear your thoughts on the ones thst are actually shipping to help me decide!
26:06 what brand seat?
That is the EBC branded seat.
