Not really when you consider the place the dinosaurs went to in this movie is Hawaii or some kind of Hawaiian island behind the scenes. Also, those horned, boxy-headed dinosaurs is megalosaurus in the original story and still lived with them in the plateau. The carnotaurs seem to not be in the nesting grounds at all. Also, the guy in the video astonishingly thought that the dinosaurs being far north are heading south for some reason, even though they are at north and nothing implies they are going south. Also, the carnotaurs were on the mainland in the beginning and were in Florida behind the scenes. The carnotaurs were already in america in this movie. Let's not forget that the theropod dinosaur he is talking is supposed to be a megalosaurus, as said or implied in the original book. It also doesn't have horns, either, unlike the carnotaurs. Another important thing is that the theropod was in the plateau along with the other dinosaurs. The carnotaurs literally don't make it to the nesting grounds in this movie! Also, they, nor any stegosaur, could get to the nesting grounds because the film kinda implies that the whole world is pretty much dead and only the herd, raptors, carnotaurs, birds, and mammals survived. Even the makers of the film describe the meteor as coming and destroying the world. In short, this guy is making some questionable conclusions.

The Land Before Time may have been the first dinosaur-related type of media I ever watched, but Disney’s Dinosaur was what officially got me into palaeomedia.
They hate it for being a rip-off to The Land Before Time. And how they claim the CGI is horrible by today's standards, the colors dreadful and ugly, the writing being bad that someone claim that Michael Bay, M. I loved dinosaurs as a kid and this one, along with Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time were my favourite dinosaur movies, I have a lot of nostalgia for it. The animation is really impressive and amazing for a movie from the year 2000, and the soundtrack is so epic, emotional and memorable. I always assumed that the asteroid in the movie was not the one that caused the KT-mass extinction, but a smaller, hypothetical one that struck the earth earlier before the big one. This would also explain why there are dinosaur species that were already extinct when the big one struck the earth, because the movie is set many million years before the KT-mass extinction. That was awesome, lol. I can understand some of the hate towards Dinosaur but I’ve always loved it. Specially the soundtrack if I’m honest. Great theory! Now it’ll forever be in my head cannon
In a small part of the book when they were exploring the Lost World it said "We saw many small animals such as porcupines a scaly anteater and a wild pig" a scaly anteater aka Pangolin, a Pangolin being in the lost world to me it's more confusing than a dinosaur
Facts that support the theory: Iguanodon and its branch family is perhaps one of the most successful species of dinosaurs, added to the fact that, without natural predators, Maple White Land could have been overpopulated until the Carnotaurus arrived, it would result in a change in the flora and the extinction of fauna such as Styracosarus or Parasaurolophus; it would not be until the Carnotaurus that the ecosystem would stabilize. Also, I believe that the meteorite that fell was not the one that killed the dinosaurs but a small part of it (although it was actually a comet) that preceded the larger one, something like a shower before the major impact. This would give rise to more dinosaurs like the Stegosaurus (which curiously the concept art of its cousin is more similar to the one seen in the novel than the current Stegosaurus) would come to take refuge in Maple White Land
3:34 you have a point about iguanadon and lemurs not living during the kt extinction in fact none of the animals in this movie did witch makes me think that this is not the kt asteroid
I loved this movie as a kid, but then again I also loved Jurassic Park 2 and Were Back. Looking back, it holds up a little bit. The visuals and music are awe inspiring. I don’t think anyone has ever made such convincing CGI dinosaurs sense the first Jurassic Park movie. And the music swells my enjoyment every time (the opening scene is worth the price of admission). The downside in my opinion, is that the story is a bit lacking. It’s as you said, exodus with dinosaurs. It’s not they poorly told, but the characterization needs more work. Still, it’s not as bad as people say it is.
wether the parallel was voluntarily drawn or not, we can't tell. But that's a pretty cool theory imo ; and would be the perfect setting for a Disney's The Lost World adaptation, serving as a low-key sequel to Dinosaur (a beloved movie from my childhood). Now, i'm pretty sure Disney would heavily modify the story, making the "savage" human the bad guys treating dinosaurs as livestock and persecuting the "lemur-men" chilling in the forest, eating fruits and raising stray baby dinosaurs ; dinotopia-style. . . I sure would watch something even as bad as that
@@thatswhatshesaid2777 And that would be for the best. Challenger didn't need to get involved in the war. He was leading a scientific expedition ; not a crusade...
My Question is: Why are you assuming that the meteor from the movie is the same one from the K-Pg boundary (a.k.a the dinosaur extinction/end of the creataceous period)? I have never saw it that way.
I was seven when DINOSAUR came out, which was right in that sweetspot of my childhood obsession with all things pre-historic. So, this film is a personal favorite
4:57 You really gotta do me like that with he music my guy. The hype was there for Jurassic Park The Lost World but it goes into the non copyright Walmart soundtrack for JP2
I don't think it was supposed to be the K-T Extinction meteor, but rather an unrelated smaller meteor landing some time in the Early Cretaceous. Even as a kid I thought the movie was a transition from the Jurassic to Cretaceous period, given the hint that "Baylene is the last of her kind".
I love how this is an April fools video, but the theory holds up shockingly well.

Bonus points for singling out the great James Newton Howard. 🤩
Damn this episode of Film Theory is wild
With this film and King Kong, James Newton Howard should be mandated to score all movies with Dinosaurs.
Damn this is another case of "snowpiercer is a sequel to willy wonka"
Love this, and this kind of connection between stories/medias
Thanks
The music for the movie is some of the best I’ve heard. This movie was my favorite as a kid
In a small part of the book when they were exploring the Lost World it said "We saw many small animals such as porcupines a scaly anteater and a wild pig" a scaly anteater aka Pangolin, a Pangolin being in the lost world to me it's more confusing than a dinosaur
it could actually be an anteater wo convergently evolve scales to protect itself from ant's bite
Actually in the end of the game of Disney’s dinosaur a carnotaurus appeared in the nesting grounds.
3:34 you have a point about iguanadon and lemurs not living during the kt extinction in fact none of the animals in this movie did witch makes me think that this is not the kt asteroid
And here I am thinking back then that the Good Dinosaur is a sequel to Aladar's story
Will you do a video about prehistoric exodus movies
Didn't expect to find the CEO of Paleotwitter on UA-cam today
I never knew people hated this movie, I’ve always loved it as a youngin
I fricking loved this movie as a kid, the two carnotaurus villains were so AWESOME and the ending was nice... I miss this movie
Now, i'm pretty sure Disney would heavily modify the story, making the "savage" human the bad guys treating dinosaurs as livestock and persecuting the "lemur-men" chilling in the forest, eating fruits and raising stray baby dinosaurs ; dinotopia-style. . .
I sure would watch something even as bad as that
Well, Disney is a lot more serious about not being racist now, so they'd probably portray them as neutral.
@@thatswhatshesaid2777 And that would be for the best. Challenger didn't need to get involved in the war. He was leading a scientific expedition ; not a crusade...
Loved this! Well done ❤️
I loved Dinosaur as a kid and I'm tired of people hating it
I still remember the noise the egg dinosaur made
Both of these were my go-to's when I was a kid
I don't think it was supposed to be the K-T Extinction meteor, but rather an unrelated smaller meteor landing some time in the Early Cretaceous. Even as a kid I thought the movie was a transition from the Jurassic to Cretaceous period, given the hint that "Baylene is the last of her kind".
You were supposed to post a joke video during the 1st of April, not a proper theory!
